My partner and I stopped here after a walk on the Miami Scenic River trail on a Tuesday afternoon. We had been driving by this place for a while now and had always wanted to try it. When it opened for this season we finally gave it a go. It has a pretty large parking lot, which I was thankful for, though it can be difficult to get out when you are leaving. They only take cash so be warned, but there is an ATM on the side of the building. There was only one girl working that day, but there are two windows I am assuming for busier times like the weekends. We walked right up and ordered from their pretty large menu posted on the side. I got the campfire sundae, and my partner just got a vanilla cone. It is all soft-serve, and they have chocolate, vanilla, or twist. There are many different toppings, dips, shakes, and sundaes offered for all preferences. My sundae was not very photogenic at all, which was fine as it still tasted great. The campfire sundae is twist ice cream topped with teddy grahams, chocolate dip, whipped cream, and a cherry. It was refreshing and had good crunch from the toppings. Between the two ice cream flavors though, the vanilla had a lot more going for it. For a fun, small place to get ice cream during the warm months, I would recommend coming here. Honestly I'm surprised by all of the negative reviews. Dairy Corner is a classic small-town ice cream stop. They make the best milkshakes and malts, with the most delicious flavors. We headed to Dairy Corner for pre-dinner dessert while waiting to pick up a to-go order from 50 West. There was a bit of a line but they are super efficient in moving everyone through quickly. I appreciate that they don't take the next order until they've finished yours, so you're not standing around awkwardly trying to stay out of the way while you wait. However, I hate how most ice cream places hand you the ice cream and THEN take your money. The woman in front of us begged to pay before they made her cone and honestly she's on to something. Anyway, I ordered the s'more sundae and only got a little bit of marshmallow on my change as we headed around back to the seating area/park. The sundae was ridiculous in the best way possible. Chocolate coating in the cup, topped with swirl soft serve, marshmallow creme, teddy grahams and whipped cream. Indulgent and mildly extravagant without being too much. My husband, meanwhile, raved about his butterscotch malt, which I admit, was really good and maybe better than my sundae. All in all, I kind of wish they took credit and that the parking lot was a bit bigger but mad props for efficiency and slinging ice cream faster than maybe any other dairy whip in the vicinity. Conveniently tucked at the corner of an intersection is the walk up ice cream establishment known as The Dairy Corner. Good news is they have a parking lot, bad news is that you must have cash. However if you forget that( like I did) you can walk across the street to the UDF and use their ATM. They have a peanut butter /mallo malt that honestly is the best shake I've ever had. Worth my 20 minute one way trip! If you're near Newtown for a bike ride, or driving through, it's more than worth any line to wait. It attracts crowds but it's usually not too crazy. One exception is if a youth baseball team shows up. It is best known for their dipped cones. It has several flavors for the hard shells. They also have a popular dirt sundae. It's made with crushed Oreos. The menu is posted in pieces all around the window. It has several slushie flavors. I had the Blue Raspberry Ice Ball. It's about $2 for a regular. They also have regular food, greasy stuff like hot dogs and barbecue sandwiches. It's been there forever. It's so popular because there aren't many other choices. Not a lot to point out as positives, but I will say, my wife loved her peanut mallow sundae and, especially, the nuts on it. I had been looking forward to a peanut butter milkshake, but they only offer peanut mallow. I wasn't really interested in that and decided on a a chocolate shake. The taste was really strong and not very pleasant. Not sure how they make it, but it had tiny, little balls of chocolate in it that were kinda hard like plastic. It was pretty bad as far as chocolate shakes go. My 6 y/o daughter wanted rainbow sprinkles and they told her that the only way to get rainbow sprinkles was with peanuts. For a sec, we thought they misheard her so my wife helped out with her order and they said the same thing. What ice cream shop doesn't offer rainbow sprinkles? That's a sin by itself. Two smokers on the property (even with signs saying otherwise), tons of bugs around the building, it was pretty dirty, the parking lot was tight, and the girls working were super unfriendly--wow do they hate working there and made sure we knew. Truly a fan! I was at a baseball game just down the street when one of the gals in the bleachers suggested getting ice cream right around the corner. It literally is a hole in the wall. You walk up and order your ice cream--and it's delicious! This shop reminds me of going to get ice cream when I was a kid, and it brings back all the feels! Know that they only except cash, but they are pretty cheap. There is plenty of parking behind their shop, as well as a UDF right across the street that has parking. You can get anything from a dirt sundae with crushed up Oreos and worms to shaved ice and ice cream mix together to dipped cones and sundaes. I asked the young girls who were working there what was their favorite, and they quickly suggested the dipped Cone topped with peanuts and candy crunch. I tried it, and it was amazing! BONUS: this ice cream shop is only a few minutes from the bike trail. 3.5 stars for the Dairy Corner but rounding down since Customer Service wasn't good. The lady clearly did not want to work today, or maybe she's always unpleasant. Never a smile on her face or a kind tone in her voice. The BBQ sandwich with cole slaw was homemade and good. It was filled with yummy green peppers so avoid the sandwich if you don't like that. The bread was even yummy! The large root beer float was certainly large! She filled the cup with ice cream and poured a 20oz Barq's on top. Nice touch to give us the remainder of the soda left in the bottle but that didn't help the taste. It was just off. I like Barq's but maybe I was searching for an A&W flavor? Or maybe their ice cream just doesn't pair well with Barq's. This place was just kinda meh. I was so excited to stop but sadly disappointed. read more

I don't get it. I read reviews here and everyone swears it's the best creamy whip, so I was excited to go. I always get a twist with the PB/rainbow sprinkle crunch-coat. The crunch-coat was okay but the ice cream was not. It's in no way creamy, not remotely. It's more like a jello pudding type frozen creation. Thin, very thin, with a bit of grit to it. Like if you were supposed to use whole milk or cream in something but you used water? That kind of thin. I took this pic and you can see the grit in it that I'm talking about, and the color of it is not what creamy whip looks like, it looks almost gelatinous here. I ate the crunch-coat off and threw the rest away. If this is the only place you know, I'm sure it's great but you should venture out more and see what you are missing. Service is a whole different negative review I could focus on but if the ice cream is no good, why bother. For reference, I think Johnny's is fabulous, Lil' Goodie Shop is great, Zip Dip is always good. read more

Twice this month (June 2019) we tried to visit and they were closed, both during normal operating hours. The trip earlier this month was Saturday afternoon, today's visit was Sunday at 6pm. Dairy Corner is locally owned and operated and one thing most people don't know is that this is the first creamy whip to open in Ohio! They started serving in 1955 and have been going strong ever since. With pretty much anything and everything to satisfy any sweet tooth some of their offerings include: home made ice cream sammies, glaciers, dip tops, crunch cones, sundaes and more! The favorite seems to be the glaciers everyone in our line ordered one so we followed suite. And if you don't know, a glacier is a flavored crushed ice drink with soft serve in the middle. Kinda weird, but turns out its a great fix if you are hungry and thirsty hahah! The flavor of the ice cream at this creamy whip is the most real and homemade I have tasted in the area. It tastes very rich and has a caramel color just like my mom used to make when I was little. I opted for a cherry dip top and I have to say, it was my least favorite dip top I have every had simply because the bubble of ice cream is made in the shape of a ball. See photo.
