If Ronaldo was merged with Messi, you'd either have a really short Ronaldo, or A-Glam-Messi. This is a really lovely ice cream shop with really good fresh strawberry ice cream. I enjoyed every slurp of it. The boy serving was really friendly and the girls serving was really flirtatious and had a crush on me. Unfortunately they didn't seem to get along and they were arguing and annoyed with each other. That's okay because the boy can be my bro and chill with me and the girl can be my date presuming that she is over 21 which I'm pretty sure she was. Fun times all around. She helped me pick out the fresh strawberry ice cream flavour which was delicious, as was she. While I was waiting for my ice-cream some guy was quoting The Wedding Singer so I called him on it and then we had a little chat. More good times all around. Lots of cute people come to this particular cafe so watch out Cincinnati. You have been warned. Excellent ice cream, I'll be back sometime to try a different flavour. Recently tried Aglamesis ice cream for the first time to celebrate getting our Covid shot. It looks more like the old-fashioned ice cream parlor than the other famous ice-cream plan in the our city. Yes, I'm going to compare it to Graeter's in the sense that it doesn't have as many flavors. However, I tried a pistachio flavor that was wonderful! You think ice cream in Cincinnati, you may think of the big G, but Aglamesis is also at the top of the list when it comes to original local ice cream offerings and has been for over 100 years. The ice cream is rich and creamy, and they also have refreshing Italian Ice if that is more your thing. The staff is very friendly and quick. This location is doing an excellent job of implementing covid precautions. Sadly, I have been put into a position where I must update my 5 Star review and reduce it to only one star. Awhile back my hubby, my service dog and I went to Aglamesis Bros to get our favorite ice cream treats. As I walked into the ice cream shoppe with my dog in my arms, I was kindly welcomed by an employee who later told me his name was Justin. As I went to the back to sit at a table I was stopped by another employee who told me they didn't allow dogs inside. I explained to her that my dog is a service dog. She then said my dog had to wear a "jacket" I assumed she meant vest and told her my dog is not legally required to wear a vest. She then asked me to show her my dogs "registration". I told her service dogs do not have registration and that it was illegal for her to ask me for documentation. She then walked to the back of the restaurant and called someone on the phone. I just went and sat down at a table with my dog on my lap waiting for menus and water that we didn't get. A few moments later a man appeared and told me I had to show proof that my dog was a service dog. I explained to him that service dogs do not have the documentation that he was requesting. He told me the Board of Health told him they had to ask for it. I then explained to him that he had been misinformed and what he was doing to me was illegal. I tried to show him the ADA website on my phone in order to educated him and put an end to the discussion, but he flat out REFUSED to look at it. Which upset me greatly and caused me to start crying because at that point he made it perfectly clear he was not interested in knowing the law. All he wanted to do was harass me. So, that is when I got mad and probably louder than I realized. I told him he was only allowed to ask me two questions and I told him what those questions were. So, he asked me both questions and I gave him the answers. It was only then that he said, "Well, I can see you are upset. Just go ahead and enjoy your ice cream". and he just walked away. Justin then came over and handed us menus. I was still crying and told my husband I didn't want any ice cream so we decided to just leave. There was no way I was going to able to enjoy my ice cream. I was just to upset at that point and still crying. Everything would have been fine if Mr. Young would have just read the 2-3 sentences on the website, but to refuse simply changed the whole situation. Ignorant people can be educated and I believe education brings understanding. Stupid however, is harder to fix and so is hatefulness. As we were preparing to leave I asked the female employee if I could speak to that man again. She said "No, he went back upstairs." I then asked her what that man's name was and she said Mr. Young and then asked me why I wanted to know. I told her I was going to give it to my lawyer. I then asked her for her name. She refused to give it to me and RAN to the back to call him again. I asked Justin what the ladies name was and he refused to tell me her name as well. He said he wasn't "permitted to disclose that information". And it was at that time he told me his name. I could see him transform from the nice man we were greeted by into Mr. Young then came back to where I was and I asked him if he read the ADA info. I asked him because I truly wanted an apology right there in front of everyone, but he said he didn't have time for that. I snapped back with "Well, you had time to come down here and harass me". He replied by saying he had to come down because I was being unruly. That infuriated me! I was in no way what-so -ever being unruly. I simply refused to give them what they were asking for because #1. What they were asking for I don't have and #2. I'm not legally required to give anything to them anyway. The fact is he didn't come down because I was being unruly. He came down there to make me leave and he was blindsided when I stood my ground and started crying. I have been going to Aglamesis with my service dog for the last 4 years without incident. Yet today, I was prevented from doing that by an ignorant employee and an even more ignorant manager. So, even if they did feel I was being unruly it was because I was being discriminated against, put on display, having my Civil Rights violated, berated to the point of crying and being humiliated in front of the other customers. As a business that is open to the public they have a duty to know the laws that they are REQUIRED by Federal Law to follow. I am sorry it has taken me so long to post this. It's been sitting as a draft for a long time. I wasn't sure if I wasn't Ed post this or not, but as I was looking at it today I decided to post it. I hope the owner does get to read this because I want to be certain that they have now educated themselves and all of their employees so they don't do this to anyone else. I've lived in Cincinnati my entire 20 years up until college, have tried every ice cream parlor in the city, and can confidently confirm that Aglamesis is THE BEST! Aglamesis has been open for as long as I can remember and has the most classic, beautiful parlor interior. When you walk in, you automatically smell the chocolates, candy, and ice cream and feel right at home. The employees are all extremely friendly and will remember your family and your name! After passing by this spot a few times I finally decided to stop in on a hot afternoon. Like any other ice cream shop, I first went up to the counter and started looking at the flavor choices. I was then told that this was actually a full-service store, and so those dining in could sit at a table with a menu and have a server come ane take the orders. While the service was a nice touch, I actually felt apprehensive about it. First of all, it didn't allow me to look into the big cooler of ice cream choices to help me make a decision. Also, we were not aware of the 4 seasonal choices not listed on the menu until our server mentioned them (after we had already been looking at the menu for a while). This is such a cool ice cream shop! My friend and family walked in tonight (5/31/17) at almost 10pm and the place was fairly busy! The girl behind the counter was nice and we asked for samples in which she gave to us with no hesitation at all. I got the Black Raspberry Crisp which was fantastic.... Perfect texture and melted in my mouth. Everyone else in my party ordered the peach flavored ones and all agreed that it was amazing. The shop itself is extremely pink and honestly just a perfect set-up for an ice cream parlor. It's so inviting and you can tell this establishment is well-liked by the locals. I have been coming to Aglamesis Bros for YEARS. I make my annual pilgrimage from West Chester to get my Giant Pecandes (I graduated from the smaller ones) and the Montgomery location is where I have been going because the service is consistent, and it's less distance. One particular day, I came into the Hyde Park branch, and the candy attendant pulls a sign and points, saying that I now have to pay a custom packaging fee. Now keep in mind, I was ordering JUST Pecandes in that box, and a separate box with JUST Cashewdes... the extra fee would ONLY apply if I mixed them, which the sign clearly stated. I told her that I don't eat all the candy at once, and a bag would make them stick together (the box has a lining). I tried explaining this to the attendant, who rolled her eyes and then went over to her Manager, who, reiterated that this was the policy. She said she would help me as soon as she took care of the customers waiting at the fountain. About 10 minutes after, she came over and got the ENTIRE story... and then had to profusely apologize because the attendant got the situation wrong- they don't charge to box identical candies together! Just imagine if I hadn't stood my ground... they would have gotten an additional fee ON TOP OF the already costly pound of candy I was getting. Since I am a patient person, I expected the attendant to apologize, but she never did. I also got a pint of their Champagne Italian Ice which is DELICIOUS and I can eat it post WLS. Despite the decadent candy, it makes me have pause that it had to get to THAT POINT for me to get what I have been getting for over a decade! America is a nation of immigrants. Even the Indians by land and the Vikings by sea! Cincinnati's two oldest hand crafted ice cream stores were started by immigrants. Greek immigrants invented Cincinnati chili and the Aglamesis family created this ice cream, chocolate and candy store. My mother was an Aglamesis loyalist; she went to school with their family. It was a very special spot for us wide-eyed children to reward us for good behavior after adult events we did not necessarily relish. Aglamesis ice cream is a little different than "the other" ice cream business in town. Both are excellent, by the way! Both use the same high quality ingredients. Both have a rotating collection of flavors, including sorbets. Aglamesis ice cream has more air, so is less dense. That makes it easier to consume! Aglamesis is not as sweet as the other, it's a more adult ice cream to me. Interestingly my mother's loyalty to Aglamesis overrode her mother's loyalty to "the other" ice cream business. They both were independent women! They both were always there for us. And as kids, we eagerly consumed both ice creams! From Aglamesis I learned how to make chocolate chip flavors. After the ice cream is done with the dasher process, remove the dasher, then pour in melted chocolate, stirring it in with a long spoon. The chocolate will immediately flake into chips with the size determined by the speed you stir. Then put the ice cream away to freeze firm. I've always enjoyed their seasonal cranberry sorbet! This original store hasn't changed since 1913. They have a huge selection of cordials, truffles and bonbons. The shop is a scent experience. I had the mint chocolate chip - excellent - I have made this ice cream with creme de menthe liquor, which is difficult because alcohol is an antifreeze, freezing point depressant. Next, the black raspberry chocolate chip - I think we call those blackberries out West! It has a great strong fruit flavor, tart and not too sweet - yum. Finally, I had the champagne sorbet with a lemon flavor and pale pink color - also excellent! This place is popular with families, for a date, or just to cool off.
