Greeter's was another stop on our Cincinnati food tour and it was so good!! There is a way they make this ice cream which results in a thick and creamy ice cream and some chunks of dark chocolate that really balances out the sweetness of the ice cream. I've been hearing about Graeter's for years but this was my first time to Ohio so I knew I had to stop in! I LOVED it. I got two scoops in a cup, black Cherry chip (which I don't usually go for but knew it was their classic flavor) and boldly bearcat (a seasonal flavor with mascarpone, Oreo, and chocolate chips). So flavorful and such good texture. The chocolate in the ice cream was so tasty and I liked that it wasn't tiny chips but varied chunks, some very large!! My friend got black raspberry chip in a cone and also was obsessed with it. We liked it so much that we both got pints to go, even if it was our last night there. She got coconut chip and I got s'mores. Somehow they got the marshmallows to stay soft which I loved. I don't think they sell it in stores near where I live but I'll try to find it!! read more

A little smaller than other Graeters locations I've been to and a little more expensive, but this location serves up all my favorite flavors with friendly and quick service. The 1870 tower is truly amazing with the perfect mix of deep chocolate flavor in the bundt cake, crispy pecans, creamy black raspberry chip ice cream, and some hot fudge to tie it all together. I also love cheese crown with the most amazing crispy and flavorful cheesecake bits. Caramelized chocolate truffle and black cherry chocolate chip are two other flavors which are truly amazing. The building was pretty packed and we had to stand pretty close to other customers in the small space. However, it's a convenient sweet treat if you are already in the area. If you are visiting from out of town (depending on where you are staying), this may be the closest Graeter's since it's the one closest to the hip/trendy area of Over-the-Rhine. Graeter's are all over the Cincy area and I pretty much grew up on it because my grandparents live in Fairfield. Graeter's has been around for 150 years, so really, I shouldn't have to explain how good it is given they've got to be one the oldest scoop shops in the country. They are known for their MASSIVE chocolate chips and for their Black Raspberry Chip ice cream (a must try). My personal favorites are Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, Double Chocolate Chip, Buckeye Blitz, Peanut Butter Chip, and Banana Chip (seasonal)-- the latter two using milk chocolate instead of their traditional dark chocolate. I actually live in Arizona now and I am SO BLESSED that our local grocery store (Fry's) is owned by Kroger and they have 7 flavors of Graeter's to purchase. Even if they didn't have that, I'd spend the money to get Graeter's shipped to me across the country. It's just that good and it will forever be my fave. The Cookies & Cream ice cream has a nice and creamy vanilla base with chunks of Oreo Cookie mixed throughout. Amazing! Sometimes you get the big chucks (half an Oreo) and I love those. I've tried maybe one or two other flavors but I always come back to Cookies & Cream. This flavor is also my husband's favorite so that's why we order it the majority of the time. I like it as well but we usually always share sweets anywhere we go so this is the one flavor we can agree on. Occasionally I will get Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough because that was my favorite flavor growing up, and I still like it as an adult.
