    The ice man

On our quest to try all the creamy whips in Cincinnati, we ventured to Putz's today. It doesn't look like much from the road, but it's a treasure! They've been operating since 1938 and five generations of the same family have been running it. The crowd was diverse and everyone was friendly while enjoying their treats at the picnic tables. My oldest had an ice man which is a sno cone with ice cream (with a face!) on top. My youngest got a small sundae with gummy worms and a color-changing spoon. I had a cookies n cream cyclone and my husband had a brownie sundae. We also shared three pretzels with cheese because my kids loved them so much. Everyone was happy!

I had the swirl soft serve and gobbled it down. Coming from Columbus which has lots of ice cream places, I have struggled to find ice cream I enjoy in Cincinnati. It's Graeter's and UDF land down here. I found Putz's on Yelp and decided to try it. It was super flavorful and cheap! Sadly their season comes to an end soon but I will be back as it has been added to my top ice cream list in cincy.

Want some good soft serve or a good milkshake? Stop by Putz's! Just a short 3 min drive from the heart of Westwood, Putz's is right around the corner. Clearly this place is a neighborhood staple. When we arrived there was a line. When I saw the line I knew I was in for a great treat. The line also moves pretty quickly. I'm not a huge fan of soft serve but this was pretty good and their strawberry milkshake was the bomb! It tasted like an old-fashioned milkshake. This place has been here for years and is the place that adults grandparents brought them, and now they are bringing their kids. They even have a picnic table area on the side of the parking lot. It's certainly a place where families come and enjoy a treat on a hot summer day. Since it was my first time visiting, I wanted to try what they were known for. I got vanilla soft serve in a waffle cone topped with a little bit of sprinkles. It was perfect! The funny thing is, as an adult I'm developing a love for sprinkles. I wasn't crazy about them as a kid. I mean I could deal with them but I wasn't the kid jumping up and down over sprinkles. My husband is a milkshake guy so that's what he always gets. I can admit this milkshake was the bomb.com! Thick and filled with strawberries. It reminded us of this same type of place that was in VA when we lived in Fredericksburg. It brought back memories. Certainly, stop by Putz's and give them a try. You'll enjoy their soft serve. If you don't like soft serve get a milkshake. They have something for everyone. They also have a ton of other stuff to choose from.

Just the best soft serve ice cream in the tristate. And a great variety of things to put it in. Yes they have good hamburgers, hot dogs, etc, but why waste room in your stomach when you can have a second ice cream treat? Only a short time left until they are closed again, so get here and enjoy.

We love to support local businesses and Putz's makes it easy. Delicious food, great friendly service and yummy deserts are what you find here. We do not live local but this is an easy off and on I-74. We only stopped in for ice cream but had to try the coneys. They did not disappoint! If you are searching for a casual spot to picnic, they have that too. We would definitely recommend this locally owned and operated spot.

Vanilla soft serve with birthday cake dip

Although I'm not from the area, something about Putz's brings me back to my childhood and I would imagine it has nostalgic appeal for a lot of locals. Putz's is a no-frills spot, cash-only and has a great local vibe. From what I understood, they use a machine back from the 1930s for their soft serve so the spot definitely has a lot of history. For those interested in the historical aspect, there is a lot of historical information around the small building. I got a vanilla soft serve cone with birthday cake dip. Sugar galore but delicious of course. Their dip options are more unique than the traditional chocolate option found in most places. The parking area is pretty small but seems that most people leave pretty quickly so I don't see it being too much of an issue.

Putz's Oreo and Heath Cyclone is the secret to mix-in Nirvana, the perfect balance of sweet and salty.

The entire restaurant feels like the diner Sam worked at in Cinderella Story from the early 2000s - very vintage, very retro, very 50s! It's what I imagine restaurants looking like when my grandparents went on dates when they were my age. I had gotten the tofu nugs via DoorDash, which were better IRL and the milkshake was scrumptious too! My friend got the Milkman Burger, fries, and a fruity pebbles shake. It was all great but let me tell ya...we had this meal almost two weeks ago and I'm STILL dreaming of those French fries. I have had so many iterations of fried potato before...shoestring, steak, wedges, sweet potato, those made from yuca, curly, dipped in ice cream, etc. and these are the best fries I've had in my life. If I could live off the fries, I would. They were that good. I already have plans to share this place with other friends of mine as it has officially worked its way into the rotation for me!

Just like Skyline and GS -- it's pretty doggone good. I had my three-way in the park nearby (wow, let's not take that sentence out of context!). We've been to the Blue Ash Senate a couple times and love it; this location does feel entirely different and I wouldn't compare the two at all. While we were looking at the menu, the guy behind the counter told us that their burgers were $5, Wed-Fri before 7PM. We decided to grab two burgers and two hot dogs, the Trailer Park and the FC Dawg. We sat at the bar, just getting a couple waters, and our food came out about fifteen or twenty minutes later. We started with our burgers, not expecting much from them. But they were actually really tasty. Even for a thin patty, they were well-cooked and a bit juicy. Thin onion slices and thick tomato--exactly my preference. And the burger sauce was tangy and a bit spicy. A really great burger for just $5. Then we split the hot dogs in half. the Trailer Park was topped with Coleslaw and Grippo's. The slaw was decent and the chips weren't out of place, but as a whole the dog was a bit underseasoned. The FC Dawg is their version of a Kony, with chili, cheese, and fritos. The toppings weren't bad, but similar to the first dog, it was a bit bland. We'd both skipped lunch and for $5, we couldn't resist grabbing a couple more burgers. The dogs were 3 stars, but the burgers for the price were 5 stars, and we'll definitely be back for them.
