Dairy Bar with drive up or walk up. We came to get some sweet treats after having had dinner elsewhere, as it was on our way to our next appointment. The line next to us moved 3x faster than ours did. The young lady working was sweet, and our order was placed promptly. Prices are very reasonable. A number was placed on top of our car. We parked in the lot, and waited for our cones to be delivered. If ordering via drive thru, all cone sizes, with the exception of waffle cones, will come inverted into a cup. We were told upon ordering, so this wasn't a surprise. Everyone enjoyed their cones. Dole pineapple whip for the win! Always a refreshing choice on a hot summer day. Chocolate vanilla swrill had a rich chocolate flavor. Cones were crisp, not stale. It all hit the spot. Being new to the general area, I was pleased to be told about this place that only operates for part of the year and offers some good old-fashioned Food a la Americana. It's easy enough to find right off of KY 8 aka Mary Ingles Hwy. There are two car queues as you pull in with employees there to take your order. You then pull into their parking lot next to the outdoor picnic area and wait for your order to come out. I ordered the chili cheese footlong and a sundae. I wanted to see how their chili stacked up against all of the other chili options around the Cinci area. It was pretty good but there was a lot of cheese on it so it was difficult to really taste a difference in the chili versus Skyline or Gold Star. Still pretty good though and it filled me up! I also enjoyed a sundae that had all the fixings and was good to boot. I'm looking forward to trying more next time! read more

We've made it an annual end of summer feast to make the drive to Dari Bar the week before they close (Labor Day) every year. This year was no exception, though it did look a bit different thanks to COVID-19. Instead of the walk up window, they've instituted a drive-thru. You order with the staff under a tent as you pull into the parking lot, then you park your car and they bring you your order. The staff were all super friendly and we felt incredibly safe. They all wore masks & gloves and the food was delivered in trays for no contact. Everything we've ever tried on the menu has been amazing, but I highly recommend some of their unique items, like the marshmallow milkshake and the jalapeño munchers, which were sadly sold out on our most recent visit. read more

Nestled along the river in Northern KY is the small town of Silver Grove. If you anyone familiar with Silver Grove where is a good place to eat? They will mention the Dari Bar. With very little competition and being located on the main road, this particular establishment is a local favorite. On this particular day I had the footlong coney hot dog with chili sauce, mustard, onion and cheese. In my opinion, this hot dog coney and sauce is so much better than any hot dog you would ever get at Skyline, Gold Star or Dixie Chili. Frankly, they are not even close. I also hear their burgers and ice cream are also delicious. The meal was inexpensive. There are picnic tables available or you can eat in your vehicle. I would suggest if you get the footlong coney,, ask for a fork and eat outside at the tables or take home. Try eating this footlong in a vehicle and you are asking for a mess. read more

This is a place that I've been coming to at least once a summer (usually more) all of my life. It's a little ice cream shoppe that also has loads of savory options some of which I'll detail below. It's set on a very picturesque plot of land with lots of trees to provide shade. There is no eating inside here as you either have to take it with you or eat at one of their many picnic tables that are spread throughout the area. Now onto my meal..... Footlong Hot Dog Mac And Cheese Bites Large Chocolate Shake What Is It: The footlong comes with chili, cheese, mustard, and onions the latter of which I left off. Mac and cheese bites are mac and cheese wrapped in a coating and fried. The shake was a shake. Presentation: The food all comes in very generic, no frills packaging which works for this sort of place. The food all looked good especially the footlong. 8 out of 10 Taste/ Final Analysis: This is my favourite footlong coney of all the one's I've tried. The chili is amazing and they load it up with cheese (and chili too for that matter.) The mac and cheese bites were ok but desperately needed a dipping sauce of some kind. As for desserts I've tried a lot here and probably will show you some others at some point but the shakes are my go to here. I went with the basic chocolate this time as the rich chocolaty flavour really was delicious. This place definitely gets my seal of approval for a summertime eat out. I count down the days until the Dari Bar opens after it closes in the fall. From a young age I've visited the Dari Bar after soccer games. It is always delicious and never too long of a wait (unless you go on Saturday's around 12-3p m, during which you'll hit the soccer crowd). But even then it's worth the wait. The *only* complaint I have is when I order a hot dog instead of a footlong. I usually get mine with chili (NOT a coney!!) and they always give me a coney sized dog instead of a regular one. I always ask for half of a footlong, but they just seem confused. I think it's just due to the KY/OH coney obsession. Oh well. It's cash only, so don't forget to stop by the bank! read more

I have been coming to the Silver Grove Dari-Bar my entire life and it always satisfies. This place is exactly what you would expect from a dari-bar: cash only, greasy burgers, an ice cream! The lines are always long which tells you that it's yummy. The Dari-Bar mostly employs high school kids who add up your total with paper and pencil and do mental math to calculate your total and change. No calculators used here. It's total old school and charming and I love it. Recently I have noticed people are waiting the same amount of time for their food orders as their ice cream orders which doesn't make sense to me. And when I ordered a medium size strawberry soft-serve cone it was actually the same size as the "baby" cone the small child in front of me ordered. When I was given my cone, the manager saw it, and told the employee making the cones to be more generous with the serving sizes, but mine was not fixed. I love their burgers and fried pickles seriously so much and in the summer this is something I crave! The prices here are also beyond cheap and while definitely not high quality food, it so nostalgic which makes it delicious! read more

Note: CASH ONLY PLACE I mean...what can I say? Dari-Bar is the kind of place where sentimental value is the extra ingredient to their already bomb food! I don't know if "delicious" is the way to describe the food...it's more like the perfect flavors when you think of malts, shakes, ice cream, cheese burgers, and fries. It's all just perfectly satisfying esp. when you're craving these things. Nothing fancy, nothing gourmet, just a whole lot of goodness. The cheeseburgers are cheesy and their fries are crunchy. Some things I've noticed though during my visits (these are not complaints): -Sometimes they salt the fries and sometimes they don't. I've only been asked once if I wanted salt when my fries came unsalted so you may just want to specify each time you order. -Their styrofoam cups are sometimes cracked and they don't know it. So be careful. I've had a few sticky situations from soda and malts, but when you let them know they fix it right away! -When you ask for mayo, they're pretty heavy handed on that so be aware! Atmosphere: 2.5 its all walk-up windows, parking lot and picnic tables. you get your mix of boaters in from a day on the river, kids after their baseball or soccer games, and old timers taking a trip back in time. its a quiet town that holds down the line between the country and the city. Pure Americana. Overall: 2.35 The burger score is low, but it really depends on your expectations. yeah, this isn't a big gourmet thing, but it does it's job which is be a little treat to go along with the ice cream, the real stars of the show, on a little roadside stand. I am a Campbell Countian born and raised, so the Dari-Bar is a go-to for me. I've been visiting this place since I was a baby. But I wanted to put it out there for those unfortunate souls who haven't had the extreme pleasure in eating here. Its so home-y and delicious. The dari-Bar is about the same as the creamy whip in Sharonville if that helps give it a comparison. Located in Silver Grove, Ky along the river sits this little building that's only open during the summer. (Boo). They have GREAT food and ice cream that is just somehow better than everyone elses. I don't know what it is or how to describe it, but it is. Its just better; more Ice like maybe? Or more flavorful? Whatever it is, its good. And their food is not grand or gourmet, but it hits the spot. There is very few things I love in this world more than cheese. (true story) Well the Dari-Bar has cheesy tots that will rock your socks off. I've driven over 45 min just for these tots before. (Then ordered three orders of them.) Always melty and perfect. The cheeseburgers are also yummy. They dont look like much, but you'll want to eat more than one. They taste almost identical to Frischs in my opinion but at half price. Lauren likes their chicken fries and coneys too. I've eaten there for 31 years and never found anything I didnt like. But the dari-Bar is all about the ice cream. Every flavor, dip, combination and topping you could want. But the ice cream is so good I eat mine plain or with oreos. If you go, I recommend going during the week. My friends talk about this place all the time! I'm so glad I finally got the chance to check it out. I got the blueberry ice cream (similar to the one King's Island serves) with the cotton candy dip. The cotton candy dip was amazing. I'd never had that flavor dip before and it was very refreshing to try something new. As others have stated, this is a walk up stand. For the small size, they had a lot of options for both ice cream treats and food. I even noticed they had a pineapple ice cream that was listed as lactose free. Bring cash as they don't take cards. I rated this place a four because the ice cream was pretty good but not outstanding. There weren't many places to sit and I felt like the employees weren't the friendliest. Additionally, the bathroom on the side of the building had a very weird smell coming out of if, almost like a portapotty. If I was in the area, I would come here again. My wife introduced me to this place and it became stop numero uno on our ice cream/creamy whip tour of the area. The lines when we went were ridiculously long but they moved very quickly so we still had time to people watch (half the fun) and peruse the menu. The parking lot was full so I recommend parking on the street to save yourself from possibly hitting someone (kids!) jumping out in between cars. On to the ice cream! I am sentimental about the Silver Grove Dairy Bar since it was a staple of my childhood. I loved this place as a kid! Now that I'm an adult and have been back after a many year absence, I can honestly say that it's just OK. It's soft serve ice cream - which you can get anywhere - and other fast food type items like burgers, fries, shakes, hot dogs, etc. all of mediocre quality. Honestly, I think I'm more annoyed by the ridiculous amount of scantily glad high school girls, the rednecks squealing tires through the parking lot and the obnoxious kids being left unattended by their parents more than anything. Unfortunately, the atmosphere leaves much to be desired. One tip - I noticed that a reviewer below says they don't have dip tops. They actually do, but they don't call it a 'dip top'. Really adorable creamy whip stand that's a must stop if taking a summer drive east on Route 8. It's right off the main road, so it is easy to find. There is plenty of on and off street parking, and they have a few picnic tables around to eat at. Of course, the taste of the ice cream is the most important factor, and so we always get pretty standard cones the first time we go somewhere new. This ice cream is not quite a custard, but it is close. It's dense and creamy and overall lovely. My husband got vanilla in a waffle cone, and he liked it. His only complaint was that the cone seemed a bit stale and prepackaged. I got a twist in a regular cone, and I liked both the chocolate and the vanilla flavors. Our kids got vanilla cones with chocolate dip top, and though they aren't the most discerning about ice cream, they certainly didn't complain. Next time, we'll have to try food, because I noticed that their hot menu was sue princely bigger than their cold treats. For now, we were pretty pleased. This isn't a particularly unique option for ice cream, but it gets the basics right. Oh, and all of our cones came in at just over $6. So, so affordable! We've been to a lot of stands with our kids, and although it's a bit of a drive for regular trips, this place definitely ends up high on our list. We'll go back. read more

This is just your typical Dairy Bar...wait, Dairy Bars aren't typical. This is a nice refreshing reprieve from your conglomerate DQs & ...well whatever else is like a DQ. This CASH ONLY place is really cool - apparently they have rave reviews about the food (so says the people there), but I just had ice cream. I got a Reese Cup ice cream thingy, and it was amazing - I finished it in like 3 minutes!!
