I requested a specific nail design based on a reference photo, but the finished result was very far from what I asked for. The first technician was clearly struggling with the design but continued attempting it. Another technician was then brought in to complete the design, but unfortunately the result still wasn't good. I paid and left, but after getting a better look at my nails, I realized how unhappy I was with the finished set. The design was messy and did not resemble the reference I provided. I returned to the salon and gave them an opportunity to correct the issue. I was offered a few nail repairs, but because I was already unhappy with the overall design, I asked for it to be removed and wanted a different design instead. Instead of acknowledging that the requested design was not executed properly, I was told that it wasn't their fault because I hadn't stopped them while they were doing it and that I would have to pay additional money for the new design. There was also discussion about wasted polish and stones. What also bothered me was being told that "no one is going to notice it from far away" and that it was only noticeable if you looked closely. I don't think that is an appropriate response to a customer who is paying for a detailed nail service and has clearly communicated that she is unhappy with the finished work. I shouldn't have to keep my hands at a distance for the imperfections not to be noticeable. I don't believe a customer should have to pay an additional fee to correct a design that was not done correctly in the first place. I also felt uncomfortable with the way the situation was handled, including attempts to blame work from a previous salon for the outcome. Unfortunately, I left feeling that my concerns were not taken seriously and that the focus was more on defending the service than making sure I was satisfied with what I paid for. Their are many services to choose from and many different price options. The employees are all very nice and helpful when I have any questions I need answered. I had visited this salon several times years ago and always had positive experiences, but after my most recent visit, I won't be returning. I called around 5:00 PM to ask about walk-in availability and was told to come in at 6:00 PM for a dip manicure and gel pedicure. Although I waited about 40 minutes before my services began--which I understood given the short notice--the experience went downhill from there. The pedicure was fine; I opted for the upgraded Signature pedicure and had no issues. Unfortunately, the manicure was extremely disappointing (see photos). The technician rushed through the service, cutting my fingers multiple times with their tools. My fingers bled during and after the manicure, and the pain persisted afterward. It was very clear the salon was closing at 7:00 PM, as the staff seemed eager to finish quickly. At one point, two technicians were working on my hands simultaneously, which only added to the rushed and careless outcome. The nails are uneven, crooked, poorly shaped, and noticeably different lengths. Because my cuticles and fingers are so sore, I'm unable to have them corrected elsewhere. I went to Dutch Bros and saw an employee with gorgeous nails! I asked where she got them done and she mentioned Gloss. I scheduled an appointment a couple days after. It was a guy that did the acrylic and a girl who did the designs. Both of them were very nice and checked on me multiple times if I liked them or not. I've been going to this place for several years; unfortunately, my last visit was very dissatisfied. My complaint is about the A/C not being turned on and the service I received. The day I was there it was so humid inside and when asked why the main doors were prop opened. The new manager wanted fresh outdoor air. I feel sorry for the workers that did my nails; I can see them feeling uncomfortable. But the main reason I will not be coming back here, the manager wanted to upsell the pedicure treatments. I don't like going to nail salons because the staff is usually cold, make comments about my ugly nails, or try to up charge me, Not Here! They are kind, friendly, honest, and great at their jobs. I started going to gloss several months ago, it was my first time getting my nails done in nearly 5 years. I was nervous at first but was quickly greeted by their wonderful staff. I have been going back for months and recommend it to all my coworkers and friends. I took my sister not too long ago. The first thing she said when we left Gloss was "they where the first nail salon that didn't make mean comments about my half chewed nails." She really liked the staff, they made her feel comfortable and not belittled. I know I said earlier but they are so honest, if they don't think they can do some nail design or don't recommend something they'll tell you. They don't sit there and beg you to get an expensive pedicure or say you need a nail treatment you didn't ask for. I've never been told I need to get something done I didn't ask for, which I appreciate. Lastly their powder wears like iron, for me at least. I've only had it chip once and that was totally my fault, I picked it. No tips have fallen off, no cracks in the dip, no budging. I've seen my friends get dip powder at other salons and it breaks within a week, not here. I see Lindsey and can't recommend her enough! I really enjoyed gloss! Not my normal nail salon but it's closer to home so I decided to give it a shot. It seems to be in the normal Plano nail salon price range but on the higher end. They don't have the biggest selection of regular nail polish but they have so many dip choices that it's almost overwhelming! The people working there were all very friendly and made sure I was comfortable. I didn't love the color I picked originally for my dip mani so the girl doing it got a different color that was perfect. She was great and made small talk with me and I enjoyed her company. When I saw my friends nails today I asked where she got them done and she said here and I was in shock! They looked so good and then I got super upset, I didn't want to leave a review and just move on but seeing how good her nails were and then when I went to get my nails done and got a gel pedicure as well I was supper disappointed and don't understand what went wrong with my service months ago. I don't like confrontation either and I'm trying to get better at it. When I got my nails done, there was no apex, they were flat, and they were shorter than I wanted because the guy was filing it short and they were super thick, when I got home I tried to love them cause it was for my college graduation and I couldn't, I cried and redid my nails myself, usually I do them myself anyways because it relaxes me but I had no time and I just wanted to pamper myself, it took me 6 hours to remove the nails they did without ruining my natural nails and redo them with a whole new set. I was up till almost 1 am. When it came to my pedicure, the lady kept redoing them and when I got home they looked like I had bubble toes and one of my toenails wasn't fully cured because of how thick it was and thankfully I had white gel polish and a lamp to fix it for my graduation as well. I paid $120 and was there for over an hour. I had clinicals, that week so I had no time to even go back to them fixed or I would have. The people we're nice so that's why I'm giving 3 stars. The orange nails are what they did and the blue French tip nails are the ones I did on myself to fix them. I have been here about 3-4 times now, which is rare for me. I am notorious for jumping from nail salon to nail salon, but Gloss has definitely won me over. I have seen a few different techs but every single time my nails have been absolutely perfect. I am really picky with my nails and I'm not afraid to speak up if I don't like anything but I have never had to at Gloss. I was most recently in last Tuesday but I stopped by today to fix a cracked nail - it was my fault, I caught my finger in a door - and they fixed it for me for free. Other than that, I felt when I was asking questions regarding price for certain services the man didn't know and went to ask other workers in his native language and came back with a price that seemed like they just came up with in their head. AVOID!!!! HEALTH ADVISORY!!!!!! I had a pedicure here on Sunday 07/10/22. By Tuesday I noticed a new white spot on the bottom of my foot, thought maybe a blister. By Thursday I was mentioning random new foot pain to my husband. By Saturday 07/16/22 it is unavoidably painful, I'm limping, and time to google. Without a doubt - Plantar Warts. Caused exclusively by virus exposure. I don't walk anywhere bare foot outside of my home, I haven't been to a public pool or even a friends pool, there is no debate that I got this from my pedicure. Every day the pain increases and I now have to pay a Derm to have this removed, as it takes YEARS to heal on its own. Backstory: I've been coming here every few months for 4 years, and I've had a few issues but they were always minor. Once, they spilled hot wax all over my arm, sweater, and purse. They made me pay full price for the manicure and said it would come out in the wash. It did not. Another time, they nicked a finger so bad it bled for an hour, the tech looked me in the eye when it happened, didn't even apologize or verbally acknowledge that I was visibly bleeding. My friends and family often get together for mani/pedis, and we've been to several places. I don't think I've ever been a repeat customer at any nail salon, but I just might have to come back to Gloss Nail Bar! The place was very busy for a Wednesday night. Definitely make an appointment, especially if you're going with a group. We did, and there was no wait. They offer 10% off Mon to Wed. The prices seem reasonable at first, but I feel their upcharges are higher than other salons. I wanted them to do a nexgen, ombre mani for me at first, but it costs double. So, I decided to have them do a nexgen, french mani with pink tips instead of white. There's an extra charge for french which I expected AND another $5 upcharge just because I chose a different color tip - so $50...a little pricier than usual; hence, the reason I'm giving this place 4 stars instead of 5. The experience I had was like no other... Normally, I expect a sweet little nail tech to feed me lies about how young I look for my age, compliment my not-so-pretty hands, tell me I'm skinny when she's literally half my size. They usually give me enough wine just to make me tipsy enough to believe them. I love those adorable little liars. It's one of many reasons why I go to these places. Nope, not this place. The man behind the counter took one look at the work done on my nails from a previous salon and belittled their quality of work. With that said, I expected fabulous nails here, which they delivered! I got a lovely tech named Evan, who was quiet, focused, and actually a little nervous. He gave me a bottle of water and started filing down the residual nextgen left from my previous mani. A little mishap occurred during the process, but I don't think it was Evan's fault. When doing a nexgen French mani, they have to apply the powder for the base and then scrape off a piece at the top part of the nail, so they can fill it with a different color powder. Well...for some reason, the top part wouldn't scrape off. I got a bit concerned after his third or forth attempt, and I'm pretty sure it made him nervous too. He kept checking my expression periodically and would smile sheepishly the moment we made eye contact, engendering several awkward little moments. At one point, I asked if it'd be easier for him to not do the French mani and just make my nails one color. He looked hurt and a little offended. He insisted he could do it. He grabbed a different bottle of powder, and VOILA! It worked! Evan was precise and filed all the corners of my nails, making sure they were the same shape. He made sure there was no residue left under my nails and also drilled layers of the nexgen off the surface of my nails, so it didn't feel thick and heavy. I think this is what sets Gloss Nail Bar apart from other salons! My nails feel natural. Evan was proud of his work, and I was happy with the results. A friend recommended me this cute nail salon when I saw how pretty her nails looked. I didn't make an appointment when I went, but the wait wasn't long. Overwhelming, there were lots and lots of color polishes in all sorts of shades to choose from, and I was beginning to enjoy the relaxing atmosphere. It's been a month or so since my last manicure so my nails and cuticles were in bad shape, but my nail tech named Kevin made sure to take care of that.
