The owner, Eugene, is a good guy. We had a couple issues with our move but he was able to resolve them in a really quick manner. Highlights of our move with them: -- Full pack service means they will pack all your things for you. -- For our cross country move (Virginia to Oregon) we got our things very fast. It took less than a week for us to get our things (your move times may vary). -- The initial quote was pretty competitive compared to other companies in the area. Even after the final price they were still a couple thousand below some of what their competitors quoted us. read more

The experience started off fine, however, that quickly changed after we took inventory of our items and home(s) after the fact. Our walls suffered some major dings and dents as the movers didn't take much care when bringing furniture down the stairs. It started to rain on the 2nd part of our move and 3 of our boxes were completely drenched in rain due to the fact that the moving truck used had a giant hole/leak in the ceiling causing a fair amount of damage to some of our goods. The icing on the cake was after they were finished the movers backed over and hit (2) $1500 mailboxes and uprooted them out of the ground completely. **UPDATE** The owner of Global Moving Systems did stay true to his word and fixed our mailboxes after about a month. They did a good job fixing them it's just unfortunate it took so long to get it taken care of. Overall their customer service has made me look at them in a more positive light now. read more

I used GMS a few weeks ago for a cross country move (VA -- CA). I'll break the review down by location. Pick up in VA: 5 stars. Flawless. Basically all I had to do was stand there, look pretty, and hand out water bottles. I packed everything myself and even took the bed apart / wrapped my mattress to expedite things. Manuel's team (3 guys total) was in and out in just over two hours. Drop off in CA: 3 stars. Poor communication. The 2 guys were about 3 hours late. I later realized it was because they were shuttling my things off the semi truck onto a smaller Uhaul. But it would have been nice to get an update rather than just be sitting by my door on standby. Manpower was an issue. 2 guys were not enough. My apt building had stairs. It was in the 80s that day. I ended up helping w the "unpacking" -- removing all the blankets etc from the wrapped furniture. By the end of it, I was drenched in sweat and exhausted. Not exactly what I was looking for when paying for a service. Bonus: My things were mostly undamaged and the stuff that was, wasn't so broken that it's worth mentioning. Also, everything arrived way ahead of schedule. My estimate was 8-15 days. I figured it would be closer to 15 but it ended up being 8! Pleasant surprise there. Things to keep in mind: although you can pay the deposit online w a CC, make sure to have a cashiers check or money order for the remainder because there is a 6% CC fee. I was kind of annoyed that this wasn't made clear and I had to run to the bank on the pick up day (I no longer had my car at the time and was lucky that there was a bank within walking distance). Overall: 5 stars considering the cost was about half of what the next cheapest company quoted me (no shuttle fee at origin, and no minimum weight requirement). read more

Used this company two years ago for a move. Something has changed about this company in a non positive manor. Can definitely feel that they are under new ownership or management. Movers were not very efficient / experienced, however were nice guys. A 12 hour move turned into 21 hours spread across 2 days because the truck was too small that they brought. This forced me into a 2 day move and paying fuel expenses / travel time twice. Felt nickeled an dimed with some of the hidden charges. The thing that really was unsettling was the fact that this company wanted to charge me a 6% surcharge for using a credit card. Maryland has a 4% maximum surcharge and Virginia is capped at 3%. Had to scramble at the last minute to send Zelle and Venmo payments. After this second experience, I would not recommend this company for moving needs. read more

The quote arrived within 15 minutes- the contract and confirmation email within 45 minutes. The communication throughout the process was excellent. The movers arrived 30 minutes early, were extremely polite and kept me apprised of the status (& displayed incredible strength!) They were super gentle with my fragile items and let me tell you, these guys are probably expert Tetris game players because they utilized every inch of my (slightly undersized) storage locker. I can't say enough about this company. We went with them for our move because of the positive online reviews and their competitive pricing. They did not disappoint! Diago and his crew arrived on time (in fact, a respectable 10 minutes early). Diago walked through the home, noting what was being moved vs. left behind. Within a few minutes, he and his three crewmen got to work. They quickly and carefully moved everything, traveled almost an hour to the new home, and then quickly and carefully unpacked everything. Nothing was damaged or lost. In fact, they went above and beyond, even moving a large couch that was already at the house upstairs for me. In order to get the couch to fit, Diago had to partially take apart a hanging light in the hallway. Not only did he take the light apart so that the couch would fit, he put it back together good as new. Diago and his entire crew were polite, helpful, and friendly. What was projected to possibly take 10 hours only took a little over five. Moving is never fun. But this company, and this crew in particular, made everything as easy as it could possibly be. Positives: They communicated what time they would show up and they came on time. Nothing fully broken. They asked after each room if they had gotten everything. They were friendly. They have straight forward pricing of $145/hr plus 1 hr travel time with no hidden costs. Cheapest movers I found in the area. Nothing broke. They wrapped most furniture really well to protect it. Needs work: They came in masks but then took them off all day (I didn't mind at my house because I'm vaccinated but they never asked if it was okay to take off masks at my apartment complex where everyone wears masks at all times). When they delivered items they did not reassemble bed or desk even after asking me if I wanted them to. I labeled boxes and they ended up leaving a bunch of boxes in the wrong place. I asked them to put storage room boxes in the hallway and they packed them into the room. Overall they moved our stuff but it wasn't with the care I would expect for such a highly rated company on Yelp. You get what you pay for I guess. You need to make sure to micromanage these movers and look after their work before they leave and you should be fine. read more

Real person here, talking about our real move from DC to CA from 06/14/2022 to 07/03/2022. Global Moving Systems is great. The pickup was excellent, timely, and effectively. They accidentally broke the door, but then they sent someone out to fix it the next day, free of charge. The subcontractor that delivered our stuff in CA was horrible, KimVik Inc. (who will soon be getting a one star review shortly). However, Global Moving Systems and their owner have a lot of integrity. Global Moving Systems gave us a substantial refund, no bargaining, no questions asked, for the subcontractor's failings, and I knew that the owner truly felt sorry for how we were treated by the subcontractor. Move was great. Anton and Andrew I believe were my movers. They helped my wife and I finish packing and move our large 1bd/1ba within DC in just 3.5 hours. They even brought boxes and things to specific rooms and helped reassemble. I very rarely leave a negative review; however, this was the absolute worst moving experience EVER. My first impression of the moving company was terrible when I saw one of the movers throw two banana peels on our driveway. He never asked where the trash was, but instead just threw it on the ground. I assumed he would pick them up after they finished packing up the truck, but he did not. It was a hot day, and we provided the movers with bottles of water. The same mover disrespectfully tossed an empty water bottle on the floor inside our house. Secondly, the crew did not bring any tools. So instead of purchasing a hammer down the street or allowing us to, the movers used a BRICK as a hammer to take our front door off it's hinge, and ended up scratching the length of our door frame. Thirdly, after the movers were finished I locked the basement door behind them. Unbeknownst to me, and without notifying any of us (there were three of us present), one of the movers went back inside our home to use the bathroom and left out the basement. One of our neighbors called us several hours later to notify us the basement was left wide open. Lastly, one of the movers continued to pressure us to pay in cash. When we offered to obtain a cashiers check, he kept insisting we pay in cash instead. This was extremely off putting and irritating. The entire moving experience was horrible, and despite the reviews, I would never recommend this company to any of my friends or family. read more

Their online portal (much better interface than others) made it easy to build our item list and view the quote breakdown. After receiving a quote we were assigned a rep that I called several times who took the time to answer all my questions and get everything set up. Just want to note that Global was not pushy like some of the other companies I contacted. We did a local move between apartments in DC and had a great experience. The 3 man crew was friendly, efficient, & professional, they wrapped our furniture well and were communicative throughout. GMS is definitely a diamond in the rough. I had just moved into my apartment two years prior and could not believe how much prices had gone up with inflation. Every company I called; they were not willing to hear how little stuff I had, that there was an elevator and I was only moving to the floor above or that I only had a one bedroom without much furniture. The owner - Evgeny was professional and actually listened to my predicament with me only having a week notice (prev movers disappeared and was unable to contact - G&C Moving). I was pleasantly impressed and surprised how mindful GMS were. They did little things that made the experience less stressful such as; they moved my doormat, set up my bedframe w/ mattresses and copied the staging of my living room like it was in my last place. I never asked them to do this. They even went over the time estimate proposed. They were so kind and thoughtful and cared about my things. I needed help with a local move from Arlington to Fairfax. I looked up many moving companies and I chose Global Moving Systems because of how transparent and straightforward their quote request system was and how reasonable the pricing was. The account page with your quote has all their policy information, mentions specifically the 6% processing fee for credit cards, you can input all of your move info to determine pricing, and you can also message/chat them. They got back to me very quickly whenever I had questions using this chat system. The movers arrived within the time frame they said. We had two movers, Enkhe and Big Nagi. They were very friendly, fast and efficient. Enkhe had me look over all the information he was inputting into their phone app for the move and sign off on it. My move involved only moving larger furniture from a small 1 BR apartment but I had requested help moving to my new place as well as taking some furniture to a storage unit afterwards. The whole move including both locations took 3.5 hours. I was surprised by how quick they were. No damages and we were very happy with the results. We just moved from a 2 bedroom apartment to a 4 story townhome. The crew at Global Moving Systems were very careful with our belongings and got everything to its destination without incident. The effort lasted longer than the company anticipated so the final bill was a few hundred dollars higher than we were quoted, but I believe this is completely understandable given the challenge presented by the stairs and the heavy weight of some of our items. Side note: We tipped our crew heavily given the difficulty of moving our furniture up several flights of stairs. I learned that some of our neighbors, who moved into the same style townhome, did not tip at all. I feel awful for their movers. Please... tip these guys! They are putting tremendous wear and tear on their bodies for our benefit, the least we can do is make sure they are receiving fair monetary compensation. read more

I'm giving 5 stars for the actual men who did the moving. Rush, Andrew and Guliermo were professional, efficient, friendly and hard working. I would give 1 star to Yuri the guy who promised we could do the whole move from NC to DC in one day. He under estimated greatly how long it would take to move out our 2 bedroom condo's worth of furniture and thus we lost our reservation at the loading dock at our new place. This caused us a lot of issues. When we called to talk to him, he pointed blame everywhere, told me he would call me back once he talked to someone and he never called back. read more
