Great work completed/highly recommended their services/Quite informative and considerate of the moving process

I hired Global Moving Systems to help me move from Columbia Heights to Shaw, both in DC. I found them to be exceptionally slow/expensive (considering they charge hourly), and they didn't reassemble my bedframe correctly. I have used two other moving companies in the past (one DC-based) and found Global Moving Systems to be unusually expensive. This is because they only sent a crew of two to move my stuff, compared to the three or four I've had from other companies, and the crew did not move fast considering they are professional movers. To be specific, compared to another company in DC, they were approximately $400 more expensive because other companies that also charge by the hour have been faster at moving my things and they have sent more people. I'd like to be as transparent and factual as possible, so here's all the details about my move- It started with them arriving at the wrong address, which was fine because they didn't start the clock for charging me until they finally arrived within the two-hour window that they had described. I had all of my stuff packed in boxes (a normal number of boxes for one person in an apartment) and asked them also to move a tall wardrobe, my bedframe and mattress, a big desk, an office chair, and a three-person couch. I told them all of this to get the quote. I moved from an apartment on the third floor to an apartment on the second and third floor. I did not have any elevators, which does contribute to the total time (i told them about this beforehand too), and the three person couch was difficult to get into a room, which I'm not docking them for. I am, however, docking them for reassembling my very basic bed incorrectly, which I was able to fix with socket wrenches myself. I had to disassemble the entire bed to fix it. It's still not what I would expect from a professional, because my entire bed was on a slant and it was an obvious error. Finally, despite confirming the address of my second apartment with them, they still showed up to the wrong second address (two wrong addresses in a row), and took an additional 15-20 minutes to arrive at the correct location. The entire move took five hours and over $750, when the original three-hour quote was $412.50. I also helped move boxes once they arrived at my second apartment, which sped up the process. I've had other DC movers charge approximately $300 less, and they were able to put together my furniture correctly. Also, Global Moving Systems does not have a way for you to leave a complaint/feedback. If you call, they'll refer you to their broken object form, which was not applicable to my case. They also told me they never get complaints about the pace of the move, but that i could include that information in the form, which is not actually possible. If you try to leave anything but a five star review on their website you can't. I do want to say i appreciated the hard work the two people completed on a hot day. They were nice and clearly worked hard. However, it seemed like they needed more support and more experience with moves. read more

Oscar and Zach were great! Highly recommend! They showed up on time. Efficient with the move and careful.

Very professional service - went halfway across the country and not a thing broke. Oscar was great the whole time and Yuri answered all our questions. Spent a lot of time looking at different moving services and this is by far the best I found. read more

I recently booked them for a quick move. Dago and Bladimir were amazing and adapted quick to some furniture space issues. They were extremely kind and asked where I'd like everything to go. Even going as far as to set up my bed. read more

That tab on the Yelp app, the one between Search and Me, that says Projects? I used it to find a moving company for a move out of state. You enter in your details, date of move, inventory, etc., and Yelp sends out messages on your behalf. Almost instantaneously you'll start to receive answers to your inquiry. First I went by availability-- this had to happen within a week, on a particular day. Then I checked Yelp reviews, and one mover called me -- I spoke to them, they provided a quote, I checked their reviews, and voila -- we had a match. That's why I'm leaving a review on Global Moving Systems. They had excellent communication throughout the process -- timely call and quote, reminders before, the day prior, and the team called me early in the day of moving. They moved me out, drove to the new location out of state, unloaded, and we were in and done in a little over two hours. The movers were friendly and efficient. There was one slight snafu that I'll bring up to the company but it won't affect my review here. The Yelp Project tab helped me and it was easy. Yelp also has a guarantee that provides up to $2500 if a project becomes a problem. This worked out for me. Moving on! read more

Oscar was wonderful, if it weren't for him I would be very uncertain about this company. We had a long distance move, four random hired hands ( not employees) showed up to our home to load ( they did a great job). We were told that there may be people to help in the next state or there may not be, it could just be Oscar unloading the 26' truck himself. Seems like they pulled two guys off the street to help unload. They were clearly not as experienced as the first guys were, nor arrived dressed like they were ready to unload a truck. The one said he twisted his ankle but also had unlaced loose tennis shoes on... They go off hoping they can find someone in the next state to unload the truck with them. When reserving with Yuriy he said there would be three guys loading, traveling and unloading. That's not the case. But it's what he sold the cost of it all on, he said they were barely making money from the move by the time the three guys traveled and stayed for possibly up to two nights- three total day move. I had another quote at $4500 but Yuiry said there would be no way because of the above mentioned reason. Not the case at all. The move took two days, one night stay. Yuriy was meh, he's a sales guy so that's expected. The move was $6K, I hope they compensated Oscar fairly for all the work he did. I'm only doing this review because Oscar was really great to work with. The company's process seemed sketchy. read more

Evgeny was great to work with. Answered all my questions quickly and thoroughly. Dago and Jose showed up to move us. Those guys are cool. Funny, charming and hardworking. When things with wrong with our storage unit (Don't ever use Public Storage) they took it in stride. Good value for the money. read more

Dago and his crew were fast, professional, and friendly. Can't recommend them highly enough!

I highly recommend this company. They were professsional and responsive from beginning to end. No surprise costs. They arrived on time on both ends, read more

Oscar and crew were fantastic. They were efficient. They wrapped tvs and other breakables and took the time to remove my lightbulbs (I forgot). Nothing was broken. They wrapped up quickly. The costs were better than expected and my relatives stated that they were more reasonable than the movers who moved from one ode of silver spring to the other. read more

It was great! They arrived on time. They were careful and respectful. I would definitely recommend this company. The price was reasonable. Thanks guys! read more

Edward and Chris were amazing. The packed up my stuff in about an hour, safely, efficiently, politely. Nothing is missing or busted, they did what I asked and kept asking to make sure we were all on the same page and we didn't accidently steal my former roomies, stuff. Absolutely fantastic. read more

The movers I had were super fast and careful with the furniture and boxes (moving my furniture up and down my 3 flights of stairs and maneuvering through the doors! ) Very fair price and they managed to finish ahead of schedule! Will recommend them to anyone needing moving services! read more

This moving company worked out okay. There was an issue with them breaking the tiles on the patio table, but overall the move turned out fine. The movers work really hard to get the job done. The problem is that they are very messy outside of the house, I had to go back and pick up trash at the house I moved out of because there was used tape rolls and bottles everywhere. I also don't like the basic insurance that they give for local moves. Sixty cents per pound doesn't cover anything that they break. A brief discussion of insurance options beyond basic at the quote stage would have been nice. 3 Stars read more

I used this company based on prior reviews. This company had quality movers. Everything was handled with care and they were respectful of my things. They worked quick and updated me along the way. Would definitely recommend and use again read more

I'm incredibly happy with the service I got today! Oscar and Ivan got all my furniture moved to the new apartment in 3.5 hours, with no issues, and including taking apart my bedframe and computer desk and putting them back together later. Quite happy with the pricing too, as it was important I didn't break the bank on this. Highly recommend this company for moving needs! read more

Jose and David did a great job. They knew early in the day that they'd arrive early to our job so they called in advance to let me know. They were professional and considerate of our belongings and clearly communicated any additional items or services that would become an extra charge. Jose also showed me the route he'd take from the first address to the second address. I'd hire them again! read more

Rating based solely on pricing consultation not on moving services. I received a price quote from the company and when I called to reconfirm my price a few weeks later, I was quoted a price that was almost twice as much. While I did add a few things to my list of items to be moved, I was surprised the price had risen so much. Would recommend that others ensure the company has an accurate list of their belongings to be moved to avoid the same thing happening. read more

Dago and his crew moved us from the DC area to Maine, and they were fantastic. And a great value as well.

Global was ON POINT every step of the process. Move was confirmed, team showed up on time, and things were smooth without breaking/damaging a single item. The 3- man team was courteous, professional, and efficient. I'm in no hurry to move again, if I do - it's GLOBAL! read more

I'm a member of the military and I had a very short-notice move last weekend and I needed to find movers who could help me out: WOW am I glad I stumbled across GMS. I got a response instantly on Yelp and called on Friday, and come Sunday Enkhe and Oscar showed up to WORK. Those guys were awesome! I cannot recommend them enough: they worked fast and even shared some of their tips and tricks about moving and long-term storage that they'd picked up along the way as movers. I'd go as far to say that they made the normally stressful moving experience fun for the few hours I was with them. Highly, highly recommend GMS and crew. read more

Requested service information and received an immediate response. Global CSR quickly gathered my relevant moving details and issued a written quote. The price given was competitive and everything was clearly spelled out. There was no fine print with hidden fees either. Our move was scheduled and moving crew arrived on time. The actual removal of furniture from the house took less than an hour and all of it firmly secured in the big box truck before departing. Upon arriving at our destination everything went like clockwork. You could tell that these guys are real skilled technicians at moving large, expensive pieces' of furniture/appliances without any damage whatsoever. The techs were polite, professional and clearly understood my concerns about moving that were stressing me out. Excellent company to do business with. James L. read more

Efficient, polite, honest and very reasonably priced. Stayed within the estimated time frame.

Pickup was easy and they delivered quickly. Had a bit of issues with the insurance certificate but we worked it out. Would recommend!

Oscar and his team, Samir and Walter, made my local move so easy. They moved my belongs from a storage unit to a new home. I was undecided on where to put things and they were so patient when I would ask to move things around. Thanks to Oscar and his team for making my move such a pleasant experience! Yuri gave a good estimate and explained everything with booking my move. I highly recommend these guys. read more

A follow up to my Sep 2021 review, I have used Global now twice since then, and each time they've been awesome to work with. The recent move was long(er) distance and Enkhe and his team were fantastic - super efficient and very careful with prep, packing the truck, and getting everything unloaded. I will continue to use Global for my moving needs when I have them! read more

Good job overall with our 2 miles move. The move took a lot longer than expected though: 6 hours for a 1 bedroom with 2 movers and a truck, whereas our previous (similar) move only took 4 hours. I did not like that the movers asked multiple time for "extra fees" for what should be included, such as protecting the mattress (I declined and the mattress arrived dirty) read more

Had a seamless move from my home to a storage facility. After submitting my project on Yelp, Global came back with the most competitive quote. Highly recommend global moving systems. Excellent service!! The two workers arrived early and finished ahead of schedule. Very efficient, friendly team. Pricing is very fair too. I can't recommend them enough! read more

This team was great to work with. We used to try to skimp on moving costs, but found in the last couple moves that it's important to pay for quality service. Global worked with us in moving out our first house and putting things in storage. They guys were professional and prepared. They even were able to assess the ideal space for storage to order while we waited on next move. Today, a new group of the same company helped us move into our house. Rush Bina, Henry, and another team member were awesome. They were fast, very communicative, and precise. They treated our furniture with care. read more

Looking back, my last review was really based on my disappointment with the manager that I dealt with, not the moving crew or the business itself. A few days after I posted my updated review, the owner of GMS reached out to me with a very sincere apology for what happened. His apology really couldn't have been more sincere. I could tell that he was genuinely sorry for what I went through. He refunded me not only for the 2 wardrobe boxes, but for all the packing supplies as well. When I told him I've never used Zelle before, he literally dropped what he was doing and drove to my house to hand me a check. I was just so grateful to him for reaching out to me and trying to make things right. These are the business owners I want to support. So, yes I would still highly recommend this moving company. Dago and his crew did a great job. read more

The guys that came to work were excellent! I gave it 2 stars because, I wanted to book a 4 man truck, and the guy I talked to who kept calling me to get a quote told me a 3 man 26 foot truck would be good. I booked a 3 man truck in my request. They sent out a 2 man truck on move day and the move took 11 Hours! I was estimated a 6 hour move. I had to pay an extra $700 more than I was quoted because of this idiotic mistake! I def wouldn't book again. The truck also was a 16 foot box truck but it was skinny so we had to make 2 trips overall experience was bad and I feel Bad for the workers. Great work but terrible business couldn't even tip the workers what they deserved. I also had 3 extra people helping and move still took 11 hours smh. read more
