This moving company worked out okay. There was an issue with them breaking the tiles on the patio table, but overall the move turned out fine. The movers work really hard to get the job done. The problem is that they are very messy outside of the house, I had to go back and pick up trash at the house I moved out of because there was used tape rolls and bottles everywhere. I also don't like the basic insurance that they give for local moves. Sixty cents per pound doesn't cover anything that they break. A brief discussion of insurance options beyond basic at the quote stage would have been nice. 3 Stars read more

The guys that came to work were excellent! I gave it 2 stars because, I wanted to book a 4 man truck, and the guy I talked to who kept calling me to get a quote told me a 3 man 26 foot truck would be good. I booked a 3 man truck in my request. They sent out a 2 man truck on move day and the move took 11 Hours! I was estimated a 6 hour move. I had to pay an extra $700 more than I was quoted because of this idiotic mistake! I def wouldn't book again. The truck also was a 16 foot box truck but it was skinny so we had to make 2 trips overall experience was bad and I feel Bad for the workers. A few days after I posted my updated review, the owner of GMS reached out to me with a very sincere apology for what happened. His apology really couldn't have been more sincere. I could tell that he was genuinely sorry for what I went through. He refunded me not only for the 2 wardrobe boxes, but for all the packing supplies as well. When I told him I've never used Zelle before, he literally dropped what he was doing and drove to my house to hand me a check. If a moving company that delivers and handles your belongings with care is what's needed, should be approached with caution, based on the experience I had. After the move, analyzing the outcome, the process was filled with issues, causing significant damages that were not properly addressed. Major issues encountered Insurance: After setting up the move over the phone, and signing to make the move official, I discovered that there is a full coverage insurance. Since I didn't have it, there is about $2,100 dollars in damages and lost items that I am still trying to obtain. Damaged Belongings: I had a $1,400 dollar tv that was broken. The other item was a $400 dollar console table that they tried to hide that it was damaged. I seen them messing with it carefully. They didn't say anything about it; therefore, I thought nothing of it. The movers seemed careless, and the packing was inadequate, failing to protect delicate items. Attempts to resolve this with the claims department were met with no answer and voice messages, so the compensation offered is 0 at the moment. Movers: The mover was trying to rush after the move and have me sign to end the contract on his phone without reading through it, and I caught some errors. Be careful at the end of your move. I just wish I would have known about the full coverage. Additionally, make sure you look inside the movers truck yourself to make sure you're not missing any items. We are still missing a $350 dollar glass table top. Recommendations for others Based on this experience, I recommend you use another company in the area. I can't endorse this moving company. Maybe they're great in doing local moves, but our cross-country move was definitely bad. Pros: the packing crew was nice. They were on time as well as the delivery. Cons: You could tell what boxes were packed carefully and others were not. Some things were thrown into a box with some packing paper, while others had items that were wrapped 10 times over. Our brand new sofa was scratched and dented. Some pieces were just plain crushed. The record keeping was also bad. A few sheets were meticulous, while others were a mystery. The boxes were also unmarked. We even provided the crew with sharpie markers because they had none. read more

Diago and his crew arrived on time (in fact, a respectable 10 minutes early). Diago walked through the home, noting what was being moved vs. left behind. Within a few minutes, he and his three crewmen got to work. They quickly and carefully moved everything, traveled almost an hour to the new home, and then quickly and carefully unpacked everything. Nothing was damaged or lost. In fact, they went above and beyond, even moving a large couch that was already at the house upstairs for me. In order to get the couch to fit, Diago had to partially take apart a hanging light in the hallway. Not only did he take the light apart so that the couch would fit, he put it back together good as new. Diago and his entire crew were polite, helpful, and friendly. What was projected to possibly take 10 hours only took a little over five. Moving is never fun. But this company, and this crew in particular, made everything as easy as it could possibly be. The experience started off fine, however, that quickly changed after we took inventory of our items and home(s) after the fact. Our walls suffered some major dings and dents as the movers didn't take much care when bringing furniture down the stairs. It started to rain on the 2nd part of our move and 3 of our boxes were completely drenched in rain due to the fact that the moving truck used had a giant hole/leak in the ceiling causing a fair amount of damage to some of our goods. The icing on the cake was after they were finished the movers backed over and hit (2) $1500 mailboxes and uprooted them out of the ground completely. **UPDATE** The owner of Global Moving Systems did stay true to his word and fixed our mailboxes after about a month. Used this company two years ago for a move. Something has changed about this company in a non positive manor. Can definitely feel that they are under new ownership or management. Movers were not very efficient / experienced, however were nice guys. A 12 hour move turned into 21 hours spread across 2 days because the truck was too small that they brought. This forced me into a 2 day move and paying fuel expenses / travel time twice. Felt nickeled an dimed with some of the hidden charges. The thing that really was unsettling was the fact that this company wanted to charge me a 6% surcharge for using a credit card. Maryland has a 4% maximum surcharge and Virginia is capped at 3%. Had to scramble at the last minute to send Zelle and Venmo payments. After this second experience, I would not recommend this company for moving needs. read more

I used GMS a few weeks ago for a cross country move (VA -- CA). I'll break the review down by location. Pick up in VA: 5 stars. Flawless. Basically all I had to do was stand there, look pretty, and hand out water bottles. I packed everything myself and even took the bed apart / wrapped my mattress to expedite things. Manuel's team (3 guys total) was in and out in just over two hours. Drop off in CA: 3 stars. Poor communication. The 2 guys were about 3 hours late. I later realized it was because they were shuttling my things off the semi truck onto a smaller Uhaul. But it would have been nice to get an update rather than just be sitting by my door on standby. Manpower was an issue. 2 guys were not enough. My apt building had stairs. It was in the 80s that day. I ended up helping w the "unpacking" -- removing all the blankets etc from the wrapped furniture. By the end of it, I was drenched in sweat and exhausted. Not exactly what I was looking for when paying for a service. Bonus: My things were mostly undamaged and the stuff that was, wasn't so broken that it's worth mentioning. Also, everything arrived way ahead of schedule. My estimate was 8-15 days. I figured it would be closer to 15 but it ended up being 8! Pleasant surprise there. Things to keep in mind: although you can pay the deposit online w a CC, make sure to have a cashiers check or money order for the remainder because there is a 6% CC fee. I was kind of annoyed that this wasn't made clear and I had to run to the bank on the pick up day (I no longer had my car at the time and was lucky that there was a bank within walking distance). Overall: 5 stars considering the cost was about half of what the next cheapest company quoted me (no shuttle fee at origin, and no minimum weight requirement). read more

The quote arrived within 15 minutes- the contract and confirmation email within 45 minutes. The communication throughout the process was excellent.
