That tab on the Yelp app, the one between Search and Me, that says Projects? I used it to find a moving company for a move out of state. You enter in your details, date of move, inventory, etc., and Yelp sends out messages on your behalf. Almost instantaneously you'll start to receive answers to your inquiry. First I went by availability-- this had to happen within a week, on a particular day. Then I checked Yelp reviews, and one mover called me -- I spoke to them, they provided a quote, I checked their reviews, and voila -- we had a match. That's why I'm leaving a review on Global Moving Systems. They had excellent communication throughout the process -- timely call and quote, reminders before, the day prior, and the team called me early in the day of moving. They moved me out, drove to the new location out of state, unloaded, and we were in and done in a little over two hours. The movers were friendly and efficient. There was one slight snafu that I'll bring up to the company but it won't affect my review here. The Yelp Project tab helped me and it was easy. Yelp also has a guarantee that provides up to $2500 if a project becomes a problem. This worked out for me. Moving on! read more

This moving company worked out okay. There was an issue with them breaking the tiles on the patio table, but overall the move turned out fine. The movers work really hard to get the job done. The problem is that they are very messy outside of the house, I had to go back and pick up trash at the house I moved out of because there was used tape rolls and bottles everywhere. I also don't like the basic insurance that they give for local moves. Sixty cents per pound doesn't cover anything that they break. A brief discussion of insurance options beyond basic at the quote stage would have been nice. 3 Stars read more

Rating based solely on pricing consultation not on moving services. I received a price quote from the company and when I called to reconfirm my price a few weeks later, I was quoted a price that was almost twice as much. While I did add a few things to my list of items to be moved, I was surprised the price had risen so much. The price given was competitive and everything was clearly spelled out. There was no fine print with hidden fees either. Our move was scheduled and moving crew arrived on time. The actual removal of furniture from the house took less than an hour and all of it firmly secured in the big box truck before departing. Looking back, my last review was really based on my disappointment with the manager that I dealt with, not the moving crew or the business itself. A few days after I posted my updated review, the owner of GMS reached out to me with a very sincere apology for what happened. His apology really couldn't have been more sincere. I could tell that he was genuinely sorry for what I went through. He refunded me not only for the 2 wardrobe boxes, but for all the packing supplies as well. When I told him I've never used Zelle before, he literally dropped what he was doing and drove to my house to hand me a check. The guys that came to work were excellent! I gave it 2 stars because, I wanted to book a 4 man truck, and the guy I talked to who kept calling me to get a quote told me a 3 man 26 foot truck would be good. I booked a 3 man truck in my request. They sent out a 2 man truck on move day and the move took 11 Hours! I was estimated a 6 hour move. I had to pay an extra $700 more than I was quoted because of this idiotic mistake! I def wouldn't book again. The truck also was a 16 foot box truck but it was skinny so we had to make 2 trips overall experience was bad and I feel Bad for the workers. Great work but terrible business couldn't even tip the workers what they deserved. I also had 3 extra people helping and move still took 11 hours smh. read more

The movers José and David were incredibly efficient, courteous, and skilled at moving my items into my apartment. They packaged everything up so well and helped me move across the DMV. They both were polite and easy to connect with. I appreciated their communication and willingness to work with my unique and difficult situation. The only criticism I have is for the management, as the movers themselves were not informed of where they were going (storage unit) and what time they were supposed to arrive. I can't endorse this moving company. Maybe they're great in doing local moves, but our cross-country move was definitely bad. Pros: the packing crew was nice. They were on time as well as the delivery. Cons: You could tell what boxes were packed carefully and others were not. Some things were thrown into a box with some packing paper, while others had items that were wrapped 10 times over. Our brand new sofa was scratched and dented. Some pieces were just plain crushed. The record keeping was also bad. A few sheets were meticulous, while others were a mystery. The boxes were also unmarked. We used Global Moving Systems for our relocation from Northern VA to NC - load on Thursday and deliver Saturday. They showed up on time, loaded a 4 bedroom town house in less than 5 hours. The team was careful, efficient, and did an amazing job. Dago, Big Naggi, Jose, and Gigirigim (apologies if i misspell anyone's name) were awesome. On Saturday, they surprised us and were ready to go at 10am (was not expecting until afternoon) which was amazing. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone. Coming from someone that never leaves reviews. If a moving company that delivers and handles your belongings with care is what's needed, should be approached with caution, based on the experience I had. After the move, analyzing the outcome, the process was filled with issues, causing significant damages that were not properly addressed. Major issues encountered Insurance: After setting up the move over the phone, and signing to make the move official, I discovered that there is a full coverage insurance. Since I didn't have it, there is about $2,100 dollars in damages and lost items that I am still trying to obtain. Damaged Belongings: I had a $1,400 dollar tv that was broken. The other item was a $400 dollar console table that they tried to hide that it was damaged. I seen them messing with it carefully. They didn't say anything about it; therefore, I thought nothing of it. The movers seemed careless, and the packing was inadequate, failing to protect delicate items. Attempts to resolve this with the claims department were met with no answer and voice messages, so the compensation offered is 0 at the moment. Movers: The mover was trying to rush after the move and have me sign to end the contract on his phone without reading through it, and I caught some errors. Be careful at the end of your move. I just wish I would have known about the full coverage. Additionally, make sure you look inside the movers truck yourself to make sure you're not missing any items. We are still missing a $350 dollar glass table top. Recommendations for others Based on this experience, I recommend you use another company in the area. To avoid a similar experience, the following precautions are recommended when choosing a moving company: Get everything in writing: Make sure all terms, including the estimated cost, the number of movers, and the timeframe for pickup and delivery, are clearly stated in a signed contract. Verify licensing and insurance: Check that the company is licensed and insured with the appropriate authorities, such as the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) for interstate moves.
