The spot is okay but the service needs a lot of work. The lounge opened at 6:00pm and we sat down and waited until 6:30pm to put in a order for hookah and 2 drinks. There was only one waitress and she apologized for the wait which it wasn't her fault but managements fault as for a lounge 1 waitress is not enough to manage when you know on Saturday nights you will be busy. Hookah and drinks came out quick so no issues there since the hookah was started up and drinks were what we ordered instead of bringing us something else. read more

My friend that comes here a lot, brought me for the first time. Good things, good things where do I begin?? It was really busy for a Tuesday night and it seemed like they were understaffed. The ladies working here were super nice but one waitress for each patio, seems ridiculous. I ordered the steak and eggs and it was amazing!! I no longer recommend this place. The owner canceled a large birthday party I arranged with him . I let him give me his available dates and times. After confirming 2 times with him. He at the last min the same day I confirmed and agreed . He got a call from someone who wanted to rent the place. He canceled me for more money. That is not good biz. We were in the outdoor seating and it was packed but she still managed to get us everything we needed wich made us stay a little longer and order a lot more. I've visited a handful of times the last few weeks solo since my friends stopped coming here- who have spent more money at Gitana than I could ever admit. I wanted to pop in for a quick dinner to enjoy the atmosphere and soak some nostalgia and so far, all three times I've been here solo, I've waited an embarrassingly long time to get a menu, and tonight I didn't even make it to water after sitting there for 25 minutes. Your chairs aren't comfortable enough for wasting 25 minutes to be greeted. And I'm alone, sitting under a light...take my money and get me out of there ASAP...the fu*%. Third time in a row this has happened. If it's too busy, hire people, if it's not, then hire one person who isn't going to actively drive your business away. Hey everyone! lets start off by saying ive been to a lot of diffrent hookah lounges. this one is by far the best ive been too. the inside is really cool, with TV's everywhere. and i mean everywhere. good music, great hookah. especially because they serve out of KM's. outside seating could be cluttered at times, only thing is how busy it gets. Oh and TANGIERS?? thats probably the best tobacco known to man. completly worth the money. my hookah lasted me 3 1/2 hrs. ahhh akay, now the only reason this place lost a point was because lack of bathroom space, and semi slow service. but its busy almost everytime i visit that place so its understandable. Went here tonight and I gotta be honest. Nothing is compare to Cafe O that is across the street. I asked for a water with ice she brought to me water in a bottle when it's 96 degrees outside. Chicken quesadilla was horrible. It was like a pizza and they didn't even have a basic guacamole with it. Pretty much I didn't like anything about this place. 10/10 would recommend this place only because this is my second home! I love it here! The foods bomb (try the fried green beans with that garlic paste), the atmosphere is great and always has poppin music, and the staff is amazing. My go to server is Abby cuz she's awesome! She has great customer service and even without asking she'll refill your drinks, or bring a heater out. She's always tending to customers making sure needs are met. This hookah bar is a joint ownership hookah bar owned by a family of brothers. One brother owns Gitana's and the other brother owns Cafe-O. Myself used to be an employee of Gitanas, i was the Charcoal fellow fixing mad hookahs on the block. They are a good business, as far as location is concerned they are set as the only hookah bars that will be allowed in burbank seeing they were already in business before burbank passed the no smoking in public law a few years back. So you can expect these restaurants to stay put. They do have a full bar as mentioned before, and they do have a full kitchen, in the indoor section of the restaurant. This allows the food to be top notch, from Kabobs all the way down to nachos, they have it all. This place is a definite hang out place of the city the hookah will do nicely, the food will fill up, and the price wont go too high up. All and all, give it a shot for yourself, you may find yourself having a good time. read more

Absolutely. Love. This. Place. I've been coming here for the last 5 years and the owner and workers have never once hesitated to alter menu items to accommodate diet restrictions. The hummus is crazy good. I get two plates every time I go. My favorite menu items are the veggie spinach wrap, tabooleh, fatoosh, hummus and peach iced tea. The food has always been consistent and the hookah is better than most places!! Always a 5 star experience!! read more

After my last review, I was contacted by a manager who compensated me for the lack of services my table had received from a previous visit. I decided to give this place another chance. Hookah is pretty good here. If you want to come and just smoke some hookah, this is one of the good lounges in the Burbank/Glendale area. Charcoal rotates fast here. Even if you don't need extra coals on your hookah, they will put it to the side until you require to use them. This helps the hookah keep rotating within your party until the next time the charcoal guy comes around. Last year, they didn't have the extensive hookah list as they have today. They didn't have Fumari and Tangiers flavors, but now carry the most popular flavors within those brands. Sometimes it could take a little bit for your hookah to start, but once you have it going, it goes well. I ordered food, for my first time in the several years coming here, and wasn't disappointing. I was recommended a grilled-chicken wrap that had rise, hummus, and lettuce inside; with a side of fries. I don't think you can go wrong with that. If you don't know what to get, you get the grilled chicken wrap. Currently, they're in the phase of hiring and training new employees in order to help the services get better. I know that as long as I smoke hookah, I'll be going to different lounges, including Gitanas. read more

Not a fan of this place... As a matter of fact, I don't really like this place at all. The only reason I end up here is if I'm hanging out with the sister and her fiance and couple of their friends. They can get pretty boring so they ALWAYS hang out in the same place over and over again. So I already know when I go with them this is where we're going to end up. I don't do hookah, so can't rate that. People at the table seem to enjoy it. Food is pretty bland. I usually only get fries, don't bother getting cheese fries, the cheese is not melted the way it should be and comes out cold. The cheese sticks are pretty cold too, kinda gross, and don't even go near the nachos! The girls that work there tend to flirt with the guys at the table, they keep putting their hands on the guys shoulders when they take order. No shame that there girls are sitting there. They are prone to getting orders wrong, and the hot drinks are always cold. There is an inside (what you cant breath in because they dont invest in good vents and people smoke inside), and the outside tables are so close together your almost sitting on the persons lap on the next table. Parking can be a challenge as well. Be careful in the lot, you could get hit by a car. If you could avoid this place do so! If you cant, order some water, and some fries and sit there and don't bother asking them to turn the heater on when your cold, by the time they do you'll be out of there or they will say it ran out of gas. read more

I like consistency with service and food, but the only consistent thing you get here is disappointment and wasting your money. The food is never the same, some days the pizzas are swimming in oil, some days the pizzas are not cooked "well done" as you ask. Some days your salads barely fill the plate, some days it's missing the pita chips. Don't forget everything is frozen and nothing is as fresh as claimed. The service here is slow. The waitresses socialize more than tend to customers. They will see you just arrive and will continue talking about their personal life loudly. The hookah staff is also a hit or miss. Starting with their packing skills ( I actually mean lack-thereof) and ending with simply poking holes. You also get coals at a painfully slow rate. They are severely understaffed and everyone's attitude is screaming indifference, clearly displaying lack of leadership and management. My suggestion? Take a couple classes about business management and customer service before opening an establishment. Leaving rude comments with grammatical errors and your personal phone number isn't an effective way to save/salvage what little reputation this place has left. read more

Let me start off by saying I went out of my way to create an account just so I can write a review about this place. I've been going to Gitana's for at least 5+ yrs now. I've watched their service and hookah quality degrade overtime. Last time I went to this place I sat inside on the couches and the waitress came up and said I cant sit there. I asked for a reason why and she couldn't or wouldn't give me one. So I decided to talk to the manager (Mike. Really great guy). He advised that the owner (Danny) has a new rule which is you can only sit on the couches if you're with a girl or with a group of girls. So you cant sit there if you go with the guys. WTF?! That really ticked me off. Service really isn't amazing or anything close to it. Food I must admit isn't all that bad. The pizza's are really good and the beef shawerma is greatness. Music is utter crap. Prices are so-so. Long story short, the only reason why I went here is cause its so local to me. Well I can say I wont be going here all that often anymore. read more

I came here with my date because we didn't want to pack our own bowl at home (lazy motherfuckers). Walked in and it took a few minutes for someone to acknowledge us, but apparently you can just sit wherever. Our waitress was nice and attentive, I ordered a gin and tonic - it was subpar but I still drank it. The hookah itself was good but it was like I was sucking a boba ball up the straw, it felt clogged and it took all of my "sucking skills" to get some smoke. I visited Gitana for the first time in 07/16/2008... I remember it very well because it was my 18th birthday after a long day at Universal Studios, I was dying to go to a hookah lounge and was so happy to be there, I've been there almost every time I'm near Burbank, I go for the hookahs and the pretty/gossipy people, not so much for the food, I've only had a few things off the menu (kabob wrap, shawerma, other simple fast food type things) whenever I go it's always too late for a heavy meal but they do have some amazing Arabic foods, their menu is very diverse, it's not like your typical Middle Eastern grill type restaurant, you'll find things like marinated tongues and other Moroccan inspired dishes, also STARBUCKS drinks served!! Limited choices but still pretty freaking awesome... Come here and you'll find plenty of Armenians, A bunch of Arabs playing cards and being loud, a fat belly dancer on the weekends, a bunch of chicks gossiping and a few people on dates. Hookahs are great, dudes always come by to change your coals, they last forever, but they use what looks like the coals you'd use to BBQ and not hookah coals, pretty unhealthy, I hope they switch to coconut coals or something of that nature. service can be slow and some waitresses have this "I'd rather be modeling" attitude when in reality they look ratchet. I used to love this place. I've been coming to Gitana since 2007 and I've watched this place lose it's charm. HOOKAH - The hookah quality and taste is great, can't complain. I use Starbuzz at home and that's also what I order at Gitana. The coal is so-so, but not terrible. FOOD- The food is delicious! The Mediterranean food is pretty good tasting and always fresh! DRINKS - Drinks are usually good. A bit pricy, but so are other hookah bars. SERVICE - Since '07 the service declined DRASTICALLY. I used to feel like VIP every time I came, but now I have to wait 30 mins to get ANY service. Back in the day the waitresses were very nice and friendly and did everything to make you happy. The coal guys were fast and efficient. Unfortunately, now, most of the waitresses are a bit rude, and forget at least 1 thing that you ordered. The coal guys take so long, that I lose interest in smoking. One night my friend and I ordered a hookah, and they brought the wrong one. That's fine, they said they'll be right back with the correct one. Took them 32 minutes (yes, we timed it lol). The guy said he's almost out of coal and gave a small piece until the new coals will be ready. The little piece burned out in 5 mins, and we asked for more. We waited 37mins for new coal! No joke! We asked the same guy 3 times for new coal during the 37 mins, and he kept saying he'll be there. We watched him give coal to 5 other tables... and nothing to us. It was very upsetting. We couldn't even leave a good tip, bc we got NO service. I'm very disappointed at how bad the service has gotten. I really liked this place, but unfortunately now I come here as a last resort. I really hope the management steps it up and brings this place up to what it used to be. read more

We came here for my friends 21st as one of the spots on the bar crawl list and it wasn't the best experience. First it was super hot inside the restaurant and we were seated all the way in the back away from everyone. I understand that is where the larger tables are but it was almost like we were being secluded from the rest of the place. This made it hard for us to get the waiters attention, which leads me to my second point. The service was so slow! Right when we thought about leaving because it took almost 30 min to get our beers they finally came. The drinks were a pretty good deal but everything else wasn't worth it. Lastly, there seemed to be some weird gambling thing going on next to our table, which made the whole situation kind of awkward. This place was alright but not for me. Eight microsized hot wings for $10 one tomato four slices of mozzarella cheese with a slight drizzle of balsamic vinegar for $10 everything was prepared poorly super small and not good quality I would never eat at Gitana again. read more

I always like going to this place, anytime that I crave hookah. They have a vast variety of exotic flavor combinations, from the classic double apple, to your more sophisticated melon & mint, Gitana's definitely has what you're looking for! Over the years, I have grown to befriend the owner & his wife. They are very warm and, welcoming! The manager there is also a nice guy. The food is great. Whether you crave sandwiches, pizza, Kebab or Mediterranean appetizers, they've got it all. Another good thing about this place is that you can smoke any other tobacco related product as well. They also offer a nice selection of desserts. The Chocolate Mousse Cake is heavenly! Highly recommended! read more

I was charged $4 for a glass of hot water, mind you we've spent $70+ dollars. "There is a one drink minimum"...yes when you don't buy anything else, I'd understand. "18% gratuity for ordering more the. "$70. So if you come here make sure you order less then $70 or don't come at all. Mind you it's not bad service nor is it bad place to be. I've been to Gitana's a few times in my day, but, I think I won't be visiting this place anymore (unless I HAVE to). I'm pretty much over it. I'll have to admit, that I actually really like the fact that this place serves Starbucks coffee, and their food is actually really good. Their sampler is really good (includes; hot wings, mottz sticks, fries, and chicken tenders.) I loved their fatoush salad, the bread stays crispy. Pizza, has a thin crust which I really like. Plus we ordered extra cheese which made it better. If you order a sandwich here, get a wrap or a pita wrap. Their french bread roll is just too hard in my opinion. Also, they don't offer free refills on soda, and it's over priced. $9 for five little hot wings, if you order the hot wings appetizer plate. Everytime I smoke hookah here, I leave with a headache. Not only that, but, the bowl burns sooo fast. They must pack it incorrectly, or purposely, just so they can sale more refills. This place offers, both indoor/ourdoor seating, has a full bar, && plays music and sporting events inside. They also offer a VIP section. I hate the fact that they only have one bathroom stale for each gender. I've waited outside the girls bathroom before for 15 minutes while a group of girls did their hair and make up. Not a fan of that. Last night, was probably one of the worst experiences I had here. My boyfriend and I quickly learned about their "One Drink Minimum" rule. Which is fine with us, but, the waitress could have been a little more informative from the beginning. This is what happened... When my boyfriend and I got to our table, I ordered a Starbucks drink, and my boyfriend asked for water. The waitress asked if bottle is fine. He asked if they serve just water in a glass, and she said no. Later, my friend joins our table, ordering a starbucks drink. A few minutes later, he asked the waitress for water. In return, she asks, bottled or tap. My boyfriend and I looked at eachother in confussion as we watch our waitress return with a glass of water for my friend. We asked her, why she had stated that tap water was not avaible for us, but it was for my friend. She explains, how they have a one drink minimum policy. My boyfriends point was, that he had asked for water in the beginning but later order coffee, so you can't offer a free water to one peson at the table and not the other just because one started off with a coffee and one order the water first. You never know what your costumer is going to order, which in the case, she should have been a little more informative, and not have basically lied to us. She also stated that there is a sign by the bar that states this policy. Umm, we were sitting outside so we never saw it. But, as we walked by the bar to leave, we saw the little tiny sign behind the bar. We didn't care, $3 doesn't hurt our pocket, it's just the principal of it. Overall, this place is okay. Hate to do this, but it's well deserved. I enjoy Gitanas for the ambiance & the fact that I live 3 minutes away. The food is terrible. I had the garlic chicken SMALL portion..perfect size for a toddler. If I go back I will make sure I go with a full stomach. As for the 18% gratuity that's already included, um I don't think our waiter deserved $13. I saw her 2 times in the one hour I was there. Please understand I speak from experience. O.M.G this place is the best, best food, best delivery service and food quality is on point, we are moving to a new place, we picked this place because of the previous yelp comments and because they were open late, we were starving but too tired to go out.....but let me say, that it is too bad i didnt discovered this place earlier.....cause i would be calling them all the time... The FOOD was exactly as we ordered- my grilled chicken sandwich was made with the bread of my choice, the piece of chicken was big, had the right amount of greens and the sause it had was light and delish... My hubby had the croissant BLT, the amount of bacon was plenty and cooked to perfection.....my hubby could had ate 2 of them...2 thumbs up on that!! And they got me my ranch for my fries!! But the best part was the service and the FREE WATER, but lwt.mw tell you why? nothing to drink due to our move and we were too exhausted to go out to get anything to drink, i requested some water, and they not only sent iced cold water but 3 large cups!!
