Avocado Smash: brown bread + avocado + pico de gallo + micro greens + pomegranate seeds, poached eggs
    Craig G.

Crowded, noisy Terminal 5 is short on dining options, particularly during the morning hours. Giraffe was open and close to our gate when we got through security just past 7:00. The menu covers off British and "international" staples: fry ups, pancakes, smoothies, and healthier options like granola and avocado toast. Pacing myself for the day, I nabbed a double espresso and an avocado smash: brown bread topped with mashed avocado + pico de gallo + micro greens + pomegranate seeds, with two poached eggs on the side. It was satisfying but overpriced, even by airport standards.

Great location for morning connection flights, just out of security for transferring in the gate 5 area. Sunny upper level overlooking one of the larger duty free shopping areas. Proper English breakfast with a variety of Euro coffee options but sadly the Earl Grey was tea bags in a large American like mug instead of teacup saucer and teapot. I guess this is 21st century London. Prices are airport standard, which is to say, an arm and a bloody leg. Waitress was fluent in at least 4 languages. Charging stations at some tables, UK plugs or USB. If it's busy, you may have a wait at the loo, even men.

A-Okay breakfast at Heathrow. Very speedy delivery of our food, good variety on the menu, and generous portions. The major con was that it was quite expensive. It also took some time to flag down a server to pay our check, so I recommend if you have limited time to ask to pay as you receive your food.

There are not alot of food options in Terminal 5 at Heathrow Airport. We decided on Giraffe because of the wide variety of foods that they offered. It may look crowded but the food came quick. You also have the option to order and pay from the table. I ordered the Korean BBQ. It was delicious. The chicken was perfectly breaded and I liked that pineapple and noodles were included in the bowl. They also have a great kids menu.

We had 5 hours to kill in Heathrow so we decided to sit in for an early dinner . It's a nicely decorated restaurant bar . Service was pretty good , food so-so . I got the halloumi fries which was a small portion but was very tasty . Wife got the avocado smash toast with plenty of avocado , I wish the bread would be of high quality but it wasn't . Daughter 1 got the chicken tenders burger which was just ok . Daughter 2 got the chicken teriyaki rice bowl which was pretty good . The Coke Zero had no gas despite replacing it twice . Prices were in the high side

We ate at this place when we had a layover in London Heathrow airport. Found this place which looked decent and huge. Really big place. Got a table in almost 5 mins. And got food in about less than 10 mins. Lots of vegetarian options and food is fresh. Not very expensive on an average around 12 to 13 pounds. The fish we ordered was very tasty and waitress was super sweet too. Drinks were refreshing. We ordered a smoothie with mango and stuff and it was really good. Better to go for large than small as diff only 50 cents more. Overall a quick eat drink and leave place.

Decent airport restaurant. Not excellent but I wouldn't expect much from airport dining anyway. Ok service. Place was busy and noisy. Food was ok. Really good raspberry mojito.

On my way back home from France. Layover at Heathrow Airport. Trying Giraffe for some brekkie.

I'm currently on a layover at Heathrow Airport from Nice and was feeling a lil hungry and very tired so I decided to sit and relax at a restaurant. I rarely ever do that when I am traveling in the State. So last year I went to Wagamama because the picture of the soft boil egg on the advertisement board got my attention but this year the Apricot, Berries & Honey Porridge at Giraffe World Kitchen got mine and it did not disappoint!! From my 2+ hour observation of Giraffe, this place runs like a well oiled machine, almost non stop busy with a line the whole time I've been here. The service is efficient yet friendly. The line actually went by fast bc this crew is on top of it. The food comes out relatively quick considering how busy it it's. On the menu it says "Aim to serve all dishes in 10 minutes". It does seem to be the case and as busy as it is, they don't rush you. Hence I am able to start and FINISH this review. Pro tip:I would just asked for the bill ahead of time because that seems to be the only thing that might take a second. The restaurant has considerable real estate so they welcome large parties and solo diners. The price point is roughly £11-£17 per entree. Non alcoholic drinks £3.55-£7.00 plus beer, wine and specialty cocktails. Ambience is lively yet chill. Good world music playing in the background to match the eclectic world menu and decor. There is even a corner seat in a birdcage. I started with a large, tbh, not sure if it's a flat white or latte. I just pointed to large coffee on the neighboring tables bc I needed some caffeine! As I mentioned, the Apricot, Berries & Honey Porridge £7.75 caught my attention. Might be the best oatmeal I've had ever. The apricot & peach compote . Fresh fruit some other things but not too sweet. I didn't taste much honey, if any at all tho. You have the option of being made with water or steamed milk. He didn't ask me so I don't know what he brought out but it takes like water. which is fine because I'm a bit lactose intolerant. Presentation was pretty and it was So delicious! I'm definitely going to attempt this when I get back home. I wish it was 2x as big tho but it left me room to try THE FULL WORKS DAP. Essentially a fried egg, sausage, English bacon (aka ham) sandwich served with 2 hash brown rounds. £10.74. I ate it all separately bc I can't imagine sticking that whole sandwich in my mouth....in public. It was savory and hit the spot. That double back bacon is so flavorful. The Cumberland sausage was good but could have been cooked more for my texture preference. Hash brown rounds were nice and crispy! I am definitely coming back for that porridge! ps Bill came and tipped 15% and rounded up for charity (£27.00=$36.57) and it was a cappuccino! Let's see if my stomach will agree with the milk . A lil pricey for breakfo but I've been slumming it on food during my workation so today I can splurge. Last but not least, thank you Robert P for your service and letting me camp here before my flight. #feastwithme #servicelife

Plenty of seating and quick service. Food was okay, general airport food. Rita was an incredibly pleasant server from Portugal. She made the whole meal special and enjoyable.

Since we stopped over in Heathrow London on our way home from Greece, we quickly settled on fish and chips for a quick bite since our previous 3+ hour flight offered only a granola bar or a cookie for our breakfast along with a small bottle of water. The fish and chips with tartar sauce and a lemon wedge hit the spot. Delicious. Both the fish and the chips arrived within 10 or so minutes, cooked and seasoned perfectly and piping hot. The only drawback on the plate: minty mushy peas -- not a fan, and there was no substitute. Service was good, and the price for airport food, decent.

    Cocktail and a local beer
    Kevin B.

Terminal 5 is a gigantic terminal, but there's surprisingly few restaurants to choose from. We had a long layover on the way back to the US from Athens and we decided to grab lunch here. My wife got a cocktail and I got a local beer and they were decent. She ordered the Southwest salad and I got the Bondi burger. The food was just okay and while it was edible, we wouldn't choose to eat here again.

Great spot to enjoy good food and drinks while waiting for your flight to take off in Heathrow. Very welcoming and attentive staff. Our food came out very quickly as well. Priced decently especially for in an airport. Eclectically but elegantly themed.

    Mexican Sunset

A decent bar to enjoy a bevvie and meal while waiting for a much delayed flight back across the pond! It may be difficult to secure a seat, as this is a very busy terminal. Luckily, I was able to snag one of the last spots at the bar. Prices aren't inflated here, which was quite surprising if you're used to price gouging at many airports. My Thai chicken bowl was 17 pounds, and my Mexican margarita was 9 pounds. The marg was much better than I expected! The Thai bowl was also pretty good, it was a filling amount of food for the price. Service was pretty good, tho it did take a few attempts to order my meal. I received my beverage pretty quickly. It took a while to get the check, but I wasn't leaving anytime soon anyway!

There was outdoor areas with lighting, but a tad too cold out. Cute areas though. They were pretty busy as well and luckily we got a good table. Wait staff were friendly, pace of service was a little slower than what I'm used to. Had to hail someone down quite a bit, but overall food was great. We started out with cocktails because there was a special, happy hour going on. Potted Devon crab with avocado guacamole and chicken liver parfait. Not sure why I expected the Devon crab to be hot.... but it was tasty. I craved a couple more pieces of toast. I got the duck leg confit with citrus sauce and my friend got St. Austell's Tribute Steak and Ale pie. The duck was delicious. Perfectly cooked, sauce went well with it. The Dauphinoise potato, I wanted more so badly. My plate was cleaned except for the bones. The steak and ale pie was not bad, my friend enjoyed it. We finished dinner off with their pistachio soufflé. I asked what was recommended for dessert, never had a pistachio soufflé before, and it was rich and sweet. Offset by the chocolate ice cream, which had a slight bitterness to it. Perfect combination. The table next to us got the chateaubriand for two. That looked amazing and had my mouth watering. If I'm ever back in the area, I do plan on making another trip hopefully.

This place definitely delivered. We sat outside in their pleasant garden. Only downside is it's not south facing so wasn't in the sun. They brought some water and offered biscuits to our dog (always a winner). Food was excellent. The beetroot and burrata salad was particularly tasty and beautifully presented. Potted shrimp was also very tasty. It gets 4 rather than 5 because it is a little expensive. Worth it but still a bit pricey for a pub. We would definitely return if we were in the area as there were a lot of delectable sounding items on the menu.

However, that's where all the good ends. it was a 3 hour 3 course meal, for no reason other than a good 30 minute wait between courses. Even 15-20 minutes passed between the main, palate cleanser and the dessert course. Service was slow, clumsy, inattentive and absent. We had the Guinea Fowl and the Crustacean (a soup) for starters. Now, I don't ever feel like I need to mention to a restaurant supposedly of this quality that I have a sensitivity to MSG because surely a restaurant of this standard would not have to stoop to using products that include it? Nope, wrong. Whilst waiting for the main course, I could start to feel that pressure and numbness on my cheek bones - a sure sign of MSG present. The Guinea Fowl was decently cooked, and the flavours boring. Unsure of why charred baby corn was present as it served as a distraction than a compliment. The Crustacean soup was overpowered by the broth. The Portland Crab with it's delicate flavour didn't stand a chance - and the abalone fungi added a texture but not flavour as one could only taste the broth and nothing else. Mains were equally, if not even more disappointing. The Pork neck was dry and overcooked. It was so dry you were forced to eat it with more sauce which made it even more cloying. The sauce was the perfect consistency but someone must have knocked over the vinegar into it as it was so sharp you found the dish rather trying to complete. The fish dish was really no better. For a Mexican British chef, you'd imagine he'd stick to his roots, but he's branching out into Asian flavours with both the Osmanthus and Chrysantemum broth and now a Yuzu sauce for the fish. The yuzu flavour way overpowered the Sea Bass (which unlike Cod, at least has some flavour), and took over the entire dish. The gentle flavours of the Cardoons and pickled mushrooms and onions didn't survive either. Lets not even get onto dessert. All in all, after £140 worth of a meal, it was less than worth it's salt. I'd rather have gone to an amazing Gastropub with simpler but better done food and done without this experience.
