Our 5th day in London and we've tried a variety of cuisines/places (including Dishoom) and this was the BEST meal we had in London, hands down. Highly recommending getting the starters mentioned below and the pappardelle! Starters: Native lobster raviolo, steamed coastal greens, bisque, Exmoor caviar - Deeeelicious! The caviar is extremely salty though but didn't stop us from going back in for seconds! Sad that it's one large raviolo because it's so good! Venison tartare, grilled sourdough, cured egg - This was my favorite and actually a favorite of everyone's! The flavor combination was amazing. The venison was gamey but not overpowering. Burrata with pickled chard and gremolata - Good but have had better. Really like the plating of it though! Entrées: Monkfish Wellington - It was okay. I didn't particularly like it. The puff pastry was kind of soggy even without the gravy and I mainly tasted spinach more than anything else. Pappardelle, beef shin and tomato ragu - So good! The pappardelle was well-cooked and there's ample amounts of beef shin in the ragu. Drink: Un Paquito Picante - Spicy! Love the ginger and flavors but wow, it burns! Unfortunately, by the time I got my drink, the sugar rim was all melted and running down the glass. It was quite sticky and remained sticky to touch. Not sure if it was made and sitting there for a while or was sitting in a warmer spot. Waitress was very friendly but service was ridiculously SLOW. Understandable for a Saturday evening on Halloween weekend. We arrived for our 6 PM reservations at 5:34 and was immediately seated. Got our drinks like 45 minutes in and then maybe close to an hour later.. our starters and another 15-20 mins for entrées. Waitress felt bad and comped our drinks, which was super nice of her! Additionally, they have very cute china! My friend was obsessed.

We stumbled upon a little fancy meal that we were not expecting. After spending the day touring London, we saw this restaurant through the window and said what the heck! It turned out to have a sprinkle of fancy and luckily we didn't look a mess. The decor is classy but semi comfortable. Most definitely gave me what I imagine to be old London charm that definitely shows you have a few coins but still has some modern touches thrown in. The service for the night was awesome. Our waiter explained the menu, made awesome recommendations, kept the drinks flowing and bread coming. The bread was hard as hell but had a very good taste. I settled on the braised lamb and it was delicious and so tender. One of my companions settled on the duck and was raving about her dish as well. If you're looking for a classier dining experience and are nearby, I don't think you'd be disappointed. Just have your coin purse ready cause it's definitely not a cheaper option.

We had an INCREDIBLE first dinner of our trip at Ham Yard. Our server (I think his name was Julian) was the sweetest! The atmosphere here was amazing - between the bustling bar, packed tables, lounge area, even the bathrooms... we were SUPER impressed with everything. We decided on the prix-fixe menu and loved each dish more than the next. While I know the menu changes often, I ordered a fig, duck, and leek appetizer which was absolutely delicious and perfectly cooked. For the entree, I decided on a fish dish with pancetta, peas, and other veggies. Finally, I ended with a blackberry pastry with sorbet. The complimentary glass of champagne was also delicious. We were pleasantly surprised by the affordability, service, and atmosphere of Ham Yard. Usually restaurant bars are far more expensive than others, but this one was absolutely perfect. I will be back on my next trip to London and will highly recommend this place to anyone I know who is visiting!

Great place for afternoon tea! It can be insanely hard to find an affordable yet quality place for afternoon tea in London, with an atmosphere to match, but Ham Yard delivers. The restaurant, inside its namesake hotel, is an elegantly designed place with shining silverware and diligent service. We got the standard afternoon tea, and the presentation was beautiful. I also really appreciated that the waiter who brought the tower (is that what you call it?) out took the time to describe what each one of the desserts were. Afternoon tea is a pretty uniform fare in that you usually know what you're getting, so details like these were really appreciated and helped differentiate the experience in a positive manner. I really loved that the scones were wrapped in their own napkin to retain their warmth, and the jam and clotted cream served in ramekins. The sandwiches were great and the desserts definitely of appropriate quality. Overall, a great place for afternoon tea that you can't go wrong with.

We stayed at this fabulous London Soho boutique hotel. The restaurant and bar provide a cool atmosphere with attentive service, inventive cuisine and crafty delicious cocktails. Seems to be a hot spot with locals and business types during the week. Definitely a great spot to hang out, sip on a beverage and enjoy some tasty appetizers.

Oh! Tea time is so cool. We had three types of teas: earl gray, white jasmine and Darjeeling. To tell you the truth, the scones were so good. I've had others in the past but nothing like the ones here.

We ordered from the set lunch menu which came with two courses and a low alcoholic vermouth. I ordered the duck terrine and it was so soooo dry that it had the texture of canned tuna. Meaning I only ate a little bit of it. The hake was actually not bad but you had to order sides to make it a meal. In reality, if I knew what it was going to be like. I would've gone elsewhere to eat as the food and drink was not worth the money. In addition, we ordered a bottle of wine which took a very long time to arrive. In addition, the waiter placed it quite a distance away from us...which would have been ok if they topped up our glass. But they didn't, and we ended up having to get up and get the bottle ourselves instead. The service in general was ridiculously slow and it was near impossible to get anybody's attention and the restaurant wasn't even that busy. We spent 15-20 mins just trying to get the bill. We complained to one waiter who apologised and said he would be right back. He did not come back after 5mins or more so we had to get the attention of another waiter. Super disappointed with the experience and the food as the reviews were actually quite good. I only gave it 1 star out of 5 due to the hake and location. None of us will be returning.

Afternoon tea starts at £22 per person. Absolutely stunning interior decoration. You may choose between an Earl Grey or English Breakfast tea. The desserts are delightful. The sandwiches are yummy! My favorite was the salmon sandwich. Wonderful service. I'll be back!

    Valentine's afternoon tea

We visited the Ham Yard for a work event - a Friday afternoon tea just before Valentine's Day. The decor is beautiful - modern and yet still comfortable. Service was also fantastic, with just the right level of attentiveness. The afternoon tea was plentiful and included sandwiches, savouries, pastries, cakes, scones and even lollipops! Our version was Valentines-themed, which was nice without being over the top, and the champagne we ordered was a nice addition. We moved to cocktails in the drawing room afterwards - what a treat! It is beautifully decorated and feels exclusive and cosy. We had great fun trying out the different cocktails on offer. I will definitely return at some point.

Can you tell I don't get out much? At least for drinks. Anyway. We came here with some friends and took advantage of their 2 for 1 offer (meaning you get two drinks for 10 pounds). It impressed me that they served really good drinks for such a good price. I personally loved The Last Word (super strong but great flavour) and the Elderflower Margarita (YUM!). They both packed a punch but weren't so overpowered with liquor that they didn't taste nice. The bar staff was fun as well. The one that wasn't popular was the honey one. I can't remember the name but none of us liked it. It's a cool bar!

This was one of the few places the bf and I had booked to go to during a brief 3-day trip to London, due to the 2 for £10 cocktails and general good reviews it had. I kinda wish we hadn't! Upon arrival the place was practically empty (but it was like bang on 6pm on a Monday, so a lot of people hadn't arrived for happy hour yet) and staff showed us where our reserved booth was. All good to start off with, the place looks pretty cool inside and the tunes were good too. Here's where it starts to go downhill. I skipped up to the bar having decided with the bf which cocktails to get (at this point we didn't realise 2 for £10 meant two of the SAME cocktail, because they never mention it) and ordered a Strawberry Daiquiri for the bf, plus a Chocolate Martini for myself. Nope, couldn't get the one I wanted as they were out of chocolate liqueur, so it was back to my seat to try and decide on another. I was gutted but excited about my next choice, the Show Me The Honey. NOPE. They were out of honey vodka so I couldn't have that one either! I get that obviously it's a busy bar at weekends, but I thought that was an extremely poor show - the staff weren't hugely apologetic about it either which didn't exactly help. Finally deciding on a Russian Spring Punch (yay, they had all the ingredients for that one!) I ordered the drinks. The bartender said "you know it's 2 for £10 yeah?" but again didn't mention the fact that it's two of the same cocktail for £10. Once he started making up the drinks I of course caught on to what was happening, whereupon he looked at me like I was an idiot for not knowing something they never openly tell you. Great. I begrudgingly paid for our drinks (I wouldn't really have minded except the bf wasn't sure if he'd want more than one cocktail and we now possessed four, plus I was really wanting to try a couple of cocktails instead of two of the same one) and went back to the booth, more than a bit deflated by this point. The cocktails were...fine. The champagne in my cocktail wasn't the nicest but it did the job of course. The atmosphere in the bar was...also fine. But that was it. Fine. It stayed pretty quiet the whole time we were there and I guess just wasn't the whole cocktail bar experience I was expecting. We then made our way to Cahoots where we had an absolute belter of a time and it totally saved our night, goes to show that sometimes you really do get what you pay for!

I'm not sure how close this bar is to Brazilian nightlife, but to me this bar feels typically Brazilian in cadence. I just love the atmosphere, the enthusiasm, the music, you feel transported to another place and I just don't understand how very few people, even those living in Camden, don't know about this bar! I was introduced by a lovely Yelp friend and try and get back whenever I'm in Camden as I really love this place. To me this is one of Camden's real hidden gems. So why do I love it? Let me count the ways: Live music: I'm not sure if there is someone on every night, but I'm always shocked by them hosting some fantastic, extremely talented musicians. Intimate setting: As a tiny little venue you huddle around small tables, it feels cozy, personable and warm. Art work: Walls, ceilings and tables are plastered with art, pictures, paintings collages drape all surfaces. It's like some hipster arty underground cavern... like so many bars in Shoreditch are trying to achieve, but this place isn't trying, it has charm and personality without having to try. Caipirinhas and mojitos: Using traditional Brazilian ingredients the cocktails here are just superb... and after a few you can't help but sink back into your seat and enjoy the ambiance. I'd also recommend the Cuba Libra, I'm usually not a fan, but would make an exception here. As a cocktail bar you need to expect to pay cocktail prices, but the live music, amazing atmosphere and art are free.

Apparently the owners want it to feel like someone's living room and it definitely has a relaxed and locals-come-here vibe, although our seating area was in what was once a VIctorian police cell, which was probably less cosy back in the day. The interesting concept here is to serve small bites of food tailored to each house cocktail which a beautifully presented and explained, as are the cocktails themselves. We sampled almost all of the house cocktail menu and generally everyone was very impressed. I think several people really liked the park bench, with its strong apple flavour, although I personally found it a bit one-note. In fact, I wouldn't say any of the cocktails here got it quite right for my palate, some of the balancing of flavours didn't quite work for me and none of them particularly blew me away. They were pretty good, but there weren't any I found incredibly delicious and "incredibly delicious" is really what I am looking for in a cocktail. I had the Get Me a Bourbon, I'm Hungry and Lost in Alaska. The first was a short drink which wasn't massively memorable, contra my favourite ever bourbon cocktail, the fantastic bourborini once on the specials at Pitt Cue Co. Lost in Alaska I thought was nice although others said they thought it tasted medicinal! Service was great - helpful, patient and attentive. It's expensive, especially now I live in Manchester and can get better cocktails at the Fitzgerald for £4 less, but I would still recommend Knowhere Special, especially if you're nearby having dinner.
