I have been coming to Langan's for decades and while its glory days are well in the rear view mirror, it is still a special spot with a great vibe and excellent cocktails.

So we're in London for King Charles' Coronation and where better to celebrate a special birthday than at one of my old haunts from the 1980s Started in the mid 70s by the wild celebrity chef Peter Langan with his partners Richard Shepherd and Michael Caine (the British actor who you might know) This became the place to be seen in the 1980s, with an in-house photographer who captured the comings and goings of the celebrities On my first visit, a quiet Sunday evening in 1978, the waiter who was serving our food casually remarked "oh look...there are 2 James Bonds here" as Michael Caine walked in with Sean Connery and Roger Moore (+ their wives) The menu back in the day was printed in a large card with an original David Hockney piece drawn specifically for Langans - he was a good friend of the owners back in the day Following a recent change in ownership it was renovated in 2021, but retains its same original French brasserie feel, with the original art adorning the walls, including the Hockneys donated by the artist Exemplary service from the big team in the front of the house - green, black & red jackets all having their specific roles Langan always wanted to showcase traditional English cooking with a French flair, and that continues today with old standards like Bangers and Mash and Fish & Chips with mushy peas in the "classics" section of the menu We had 2 tartares to start - the classic beef, mixed at the table and an amazing beet tartare with a subtle Dijon mustard dressing- and they were both off the chart Yellow Fin Tuna with a beautiful green salad followed and I can never resist the bangers and mash with subtly seasoned creamy potatoes and a bold red wine sauce to set of the tangy sausages The obligatory cheese plate was the perfect way to finish the bottle of Malbec One of my all time favorite restaurants in the whole world has never disappointed and did not tonight You get what you pay for, so don't expect to get out without paying at least $100 per person (inc wine) No photos ...it seemed disrespectful to even pull a cell phone out of your pocket in such a refined atmosphere I will be back...again and again and again...try it for yourself, you will not be disappointed

Excellent experience for our last meal in London. We were here several years ago (before the remodeling) and enjoyed it and everything is just as top-notch now. Food, ambience, all excellent. My wife had the French onion soup and the Chicken Kyiv while I had the oysters and the venison. Cauliflower side was also very good though we ordered a bit too much food! Suggestions from the services for cocktails and wine was also spot on.

I started with the Camembert Frit (Camembert cheese coated in breadcrumbs, fried, and served with redcurrant and raspberry coulis). This was delicious! The cheese paired so well with the raspberry coulis and it was no greasy at all (perfectly fried). For my main course, I got the Steak d'Agneau au Romarin Grilled lamb steak with red wine & rosemary sauce (served with sautéed potatoes). This was delicious as well! The lamb steak was so tender and flavorful and the sauce went so well with it. The potatoes also went very well with the lamb. I have also had their Filets de Cabillaud Rôti (baked cod fillets with sun-dried tomato and cream sauce), served with leek and potato mash. This was excellent! The cod was so fresh and the sauce was to-die-for! I could have licked all of the sauce off of my plate (if it were socially acceptable haha). The sauce was so fresh and paired so well with the fish. The potato mash was also fantastic--perfect texture. For dessert, I had a rhubarb tart. This was delicious! I loved how the tart wasn't too sweet and I could really taste the rhubarb. The service was also excellent. The servers and managers were very attentive and considerate of my husband's allergies. They were super accommodating, which is the reason we came back again! The have a great price for their prixe fixe menu. I would definitely recommend this restaurant! In a nut shell, great service, excellent food, fair prices and great ambience!

The Food: We did the Valentine's set menu, and a fair warning: it creeps up on you! Every course is delicious, but by the time dessert arrived, we were absolutely stuffed. Even if you aren't typically a seafood fan, give it a chance here. The dishes are incredibly approachable, well-balanced, and clearly had a lot of thought put into the flavors. The Vibe & Dress Code: The atmosphere is unmatched, but learn from our mistake! We spent the day exploring Covent Garden and didn't have time to head back and change. You definitely want to dress smart-professional to match the elegance of the restaurant. We felt a little underdressed for the level of experience they provide! Summary: Romantic, delicious, and worth every penny. Just dress up and come hungry!

Given how difficult it was to get a seat, I would have liked to have been seated in the main dining room with the more impressive array of decorations, but my tiny table tucked away in a corner near the entrance wasn't all bad; decorations were still plentiful, and I didn't feel in the way of passing traffic. With the food, you get what you pay for; which may not be as much as you might think given the "poshness" of the place. Without booze, you shouldn't end up paying more than £50pp. The menu has an array of seasonal favorites like Hertfordshire Beef with a red wine jus, roast chicken with leeks and girolle mushrooms, and seasbass with Autumn vegetables. Seasonal desserts are also available and the booze is seemingly never-ending. You can never go wrong with the chicken here, regardless of season, and with a seasoned sommelier always on-hand, rest assured all your wine pairing needs will be met. The beef and venison dishes are also superb, with both light and hearty sides to compliment them perfectly. Dessert can be a hit or miss. I didn't like my first experience here with the Delice, but my second experience was a delicious poached pear with a superb buckwheat ice cream and buckwheat-infused biscuit. I paired mine with the recommended Bordeaux wine to wash down the sweetness, and let me tell you, it was an extra £14 well spent. Overall, this isn't the type of place you visit every week, or even every month, but it's definitely worth planning months in advance to come during the hholiday season. Reservations are a MUST.

I think every American mother/daughter duo was checking this place out for lunch or high tea. Mom and I opted for the lunch experience in the room called "The Glade." 3 courses, for a very reasonable price. Something like 36 pounds if I remember correctly. We did this over the more pricey high tea, but that certainly looked like a good time as well. That dining room was gorgeous. The food was pretty good. Nothing that absolutely blew my socks off, except for the strawberry dessert. Everything was certainly well done, though. I mean, there's a restaurant with 3 Michelin stars upstairs - the food should be good! Would def return with new people that hadn't been before.

Those damn English scones were some of the best I've ever had - clotted cream and jam! Heavenly. Dinner in the Gallery was fun and delish as well. We started with the Korean tofu dumplings + beetroot carpaccio, both were light, perfectly seasoned and lovely starters. Mushroom arancini with carrot ginger coconut broth was well balanced and craveable. Cod brandade was delicious as well but a bit heavy, could only eat half. Pistachio chocolate peanut ganache was the perfect end to a lovely meal. It's a visual spectacle in the best way, and service was lovely as well. I wasn't sure if it could live up to the IG hype but it was fun and delicious!
