Due to time of day we only sat outside for a meal. We were invited by friends to dinner here. As it was my last night on a trip, I had to have F and C! Food was good. We were here recently and we had a great experience. There is a bus stop right outside so traveling isn't an issue if you're in-between flights. we found this place because we were traveling and were looking for someplace to eat and experience england on a short schedule. The white horse has great food it tasted amazing and the worker was really kind (she let us Americans charge our phones ;) it was great service. the outside was great the patio had a cool asthetic . Absolutely a gem of a place! Stopped here on our way to Heathrow to grab a quick lunch. The bartender was super helpful and told us the pies were wonderful as was the Lamb shank. Ended up ordering fish and chips and the steak pie. We sat outside in the garden and when our food arrived, the portions were massive! The fish and chips were crispy and fresh served with peas. The steak pie was the star of the show! The flavors were rich and layered and the meat was tender. It was served with mashed potatoes and mixed vegetables! Bartender checked on us several times. I look forward to my next trip back so I can visit the White Horse again! read more

Wonderful old pub...like 500 years old old. I think Hobbits once dwelled here, as the ceiling is made for those not 'vertically enhanced.' Good selection of real ales - 5 of them - as well as a few other taps that housed mostly lagers, but Guinness too. Great charm, for sure. Not just the ambiance of the quaint li'l place, but also of the staff. Food was pretty good, too (keeping in mind that British food isn't the best type of cuisine in the world! :-) I had the steak and mushroom pie - flaky crust was delicious. And the barmaid talked me into dessert: which was the orange-chocolate something-or-other with ice cream. Also quite flavorful. If you have a long enough layover at LHR, it's a great place to kill some time! read more

The White Horse came highly recommended and I wasn't disappointed upon arrival. Very traditional British Pub. The atmosphere was cool as the bar was really tight but the regulars made me think of British Version of Cheers. The drink that just got my head absolutely spinning was Scrumpy Jack a sweet/dry apple cider recommended by all the locals at the bar. This isn't your usual Magners foo foo drink, one pint had my head spinning. The outdoor patio area is perfect for big groups or just meeting up with somebody to catch up. The only complaint I have is that there food is over priced for the quality which is why I scored the food menu a three. It seems like they were trying to capitalize on the name and the out of town visitors trickling in from the surrounding Heathrow Hotels. Overall cool place to hang, meet, and greet. If this were my first British Pub experience as most who are passing through Heathrow I probably would have scored higher. read more

This is a wonderful little pub. I was in London on business and this was where our hosts brought us for lunch one afternoon. The omelettes and chips were excellent, as was the cider on tap. They even sent a very amiable gentleman in a minibus to pick us up. The building has been standing since some time in the late 1500's and the low ceilings, cutout fireplace, and little nooks and crannies everywhere give it a very comfortable, lived-in feeling. Positives: The food here is pretty good. They have lots of choices. Though the beer menu is a bit more limited than I prefer, they have enough choices to find something that you'll like. They also have a shuttle service that will pick you up from your hotel, as well as bring you back. Negatives: Every time I come here, it's pretty dead. Rarely will I see more than 6 people, and it's usually maxed out at 4. That may be a positive in some people's book, but I prefer to people watch and enjoy the ambiance of the crowds. Full disclosure, I was contemplating between 3 and 4 stars, when I remembered the shuttle service. That coupled with Purple Rain starting to blast over the speakers made me say, f*ck it and boost the rating. You may have a 3 star experience. read more

If you wanted to take a tourist on a flying visit to an authentic British pub visit then this is your spot. You could have him/her back at the airport in just a couple of hours! Its a lovely wooden beamed place with a village feel and so you could easily forget that you're just round the corner from the UK's biggest airport (although possibly not if you go outside for a smoke!). Their driver who was very nice came to the hotel to pick us up promptly after calling. Best Guinness we have ever had!! Found this terrific little pub "The White Horse" with local style food on Yelp. We (4 of us) only had one summer night at a local Heathrow airport hotel, so I wanted to make it authentic & fun. The food & beer was well worth the short walk (through a cute neighborhood), the Steak & Mushroom pie, Bangers & Mash and especially the chili nachos are really delicious. The bartenders are hard working and friendly. The "Smoke House building built in 1534" has a lot of charm (C/C's excepted). The quiet location, service provided, & English atmosphere is why I gave this 5 stars. read more

While it would be no insult to say that some of the food choices in the area are rather limited the White Horse can decently accommodate most folks with their selections. If you're in the Heathrow area and want to try a nice local pub that's more than a pub you should definitely check them out. They even have a shuttle!! read more

What a great find! We were looking for a place to eat after a long day of meetings. Yelp suggested this gem and didn't disappoint. The meal was very nice...we were seated in the marquis area, basically a "heated" tent...a little chilly but the meal was great, the company even better. We finished our VERY copious meal and decided to move indoors. MAN am I glad we did. The owner greeted us after I mentionned to my friends that the pub has been in operation since 1601...he then added that yes, the pub has been in constant operation since 1601 but the building itself dated back to 1534! That's older than my country...by 200 years!!! We hung out in the pub for another hour or 2 just shooting the breeze with him and his daughter (who runs the bar) All this to say, if you're looking for a friendly welcome, this certainly fits! On 17Aug spent a night at the Sheraton Heathrow and knowing that I am usually not a fan of Hotel food because it's either too "prepared" and/or too "expensive" I asked the front desk what restaurants were nearby. Immediately across the street I was told is a Mc Donalds (Thank you but no) and if I cut through their parking lot and hang a right about a 1/4 of a mile away is the White Horse Pub. Following the directions I was given I found myself walking through a local Neighborhood that is adjacent to Terminal 5 at London's Heathrow Airport. They still had signs hanging up fighting the third runway which is no longer an issue. The neighborhood was very safe and scenic and before I knew it I had arrived at the White Horse which according to the sign on the property has been around for a very long time. There seems to be inside drinking areas with very low ceilings but since the weather was clear and warm I decided to sit out side. The planes flew directly overhead so if you are a planespotter this is the place to come to and enjoy a few pints and grab a bite to eat. I ordered a pint of Guiness which was perfect and since this was my last day in the U.K. I decided to try the Fish and Chips. The fish was a large filet, crunchy coating and flaky filet, very warm and not oily so it was fried perfectly. The chips or fries were perfect, hot, not 're fried" which is sometimes done in a pub. It came with a coleslaw which I usually don't eat but this was pretty good. I also noticed there is a public bus running from Heathrow's T5 right in front of the White Horse so if you ever find yourself stranded at the airport and don't want to eat airport food do yourself a favor and come to the White Horse. On my next visit if I find myself needing airport accommodations, I just might choose a hotel nearby just to come back and enjoy another pint and meal at the White Horse. Cheers! read more

Very good pub! The pub is in a very old building with little space, but they have an outstanding patio to eat on. Fish and chips were excellent. Fish had a very crisp breading. A small salad and some beans were included with the fish and chips. A couple gentlemen having drinks there (presumabley 'the regulars') were as friendly as can be. Highly recommend if you are staying at the Premier Inn Terminal 5. read more

We were staying at airport hotel and wanted something other than sanitized hotel restaurant. White horse has a hotel pickup service (free). Neil picked my family and us up within 15 minutes and was very friendly. We had several pints and nice meal. Exactly what you expect from a pub, prices are a bit higher than traditional one, but you are next to airport... With kids they would not let us in the main part of the pub, but were quite comfortable in the "adjacent building/room" which is also "traditional". If you have a long layover I would recommend giving them a call!!! read more
