I was going to suggest that this is a pub that looks like it is on its last legs, until I discovered that it happens to be a grade-II listed building, which made me realise that I don't think it happens to be going anywhere. Still, despite that, I can't really say that it is one of the greatest pubs that I've visited. Sure, the service was okay, but the beers were fairly standard, not that I actually know what standard beers happens to be in an English Pub since every pub that I've visited seems to have different options. Then again, I'd probably describe the selection as boring, so yeah, there is that. read more

This is a hidden gem on Sipson. It's style is an old English pub but the food is Indian/Asian. The service is top notch and the food is the best I've had around Heathrow. I highly recommend you look this place up the next time you are in the area. read more

I unfortunately missed the opportunity to snag photos of my dinner at King William IV but don't let that deter you. The service was excellent and the flavor punched through on their curries. Their crisp appetizer was served with three sauces which also paired well with their samosa. I wasn't too crazy about their samosa compared to other places Ive had them. On the other hand I was tasting for a butter chicken curry and even though they didn't have it on the menu they were able to make some up for me. I paired it with their garlic naan and It was delicious! read more

The King William is a small historic pub on the road between Derby and Belper. The kind of nice, traditional place with occasional live music that most older guys like myself really appreciate. When busy - which it was upon my visit - it can feel a bit cramped; there's only room for maybe 30 people?! Great atmosphere though, cozy decor, popular with the local people and pub crawlers between Derby and Belper (if you're in a group, get a zig-zag ticket from The Sixes buses in Derby so you can hop on and off at the different stops - if you're 5 people, it's only 3 quid a person!). Decent real-ale selection, plus of course the full bar range. Just a good, solid traditional real ale pub. Within walking distance you'll find a few other nice places, too (the Strutt Arms and The Holly Bush). read more

This was our first pub experience upon arriving at Heathrow. We were staying near the airport and browsed the nearby pub scene only to find this place because the reviews raced about the pub food! We walked to the place and upon entering we were greeted by two very friendly female barkeeps. After perusing the menu I ordered a Fosters the pad Thai, and the green curry. The pad Thai was good, not great, but in all honesty there is so much variation in Thai restaurants as to how they prepare their pad Thai that this is to be expected. We spiced it up a bit to our taste and enjoyed it. The green curry was superb. I will say the portion of curry is smallish, it is definitely sized for one. My wife and I shared the pad Thai and curry though so this was fine. Further the prices were quite reasonable and so we easily could have ordered another had we the desire and room for it. The atmosphere was very friendly and welcoming. There were lots of locals in the place (a good sign) and a football playoff match on tv so not a lot interaction with customers, but the staff were all quite nice, comfortably chatty, and on the spot with whatever we requested. No problem recommending this neighborhood gem. We enjoyed a very relaxing evening there with a nice meal, a couple of pints of Fosters and some nice conversation for about 25 pounds. read more

I've never made it a point to revisit a pub during the same UK trip but there's always a first for everything. The King William was the pub of choice as I was craving a proper English Breakfast, which I have not had since I've been in the UK. So as I walk in and see Sean the owner, he says, "Here for the Fish N' Chips this time right?" I tell him oops I forgot about that and my Fish N' Chip cravings have been long gone at this point. I was on a mission to have the proper English Breakfast as he serves it all day from 9am to 11pm which I've rarely found in the UK. What's even more interesting he suggested I tried the Stella Cider with my evening breakfast. Interesting combination I say, but quite tasty and fulfilling. What I really like about The King William is the 'last genuine pub feel' you'll find. It was the first time I've been to a pub and it gave me the "Euro Trip the Movie Chills," as it was that movie that inspired me to be a Jet Setter. Even though the Euro Trip completely exaggerated UK and Europe in general, it was nice to see Football Fanatics cursing left and right with the local regulars and families mixed in having a jolly good time. Everything about this Pub is so unconventional with what it offers yet so right as it properly caters to any and all looking for good food, real pub atmosphere, and authentic British establishment. read more

Blinding. Took a plod out this way rather than die of boredom in an airport hotel - ten minute walk from the Bath Road if you're interested. View was to have a couple of pints and then a curry at one of the two local restaurants. £3.65 for a pint of Speckled Hen. Staff really friendly and a cosy pub. TVs at either end of a decent sized bar £3.65 for a pint of Speckled Hen The food menu looks decent enough - though I didn't see anyone eating £3.65 for a pint of Speckled Hen. We visited many pubs in London and Heathrow, and this was my favorite! As an American, I really, really liked the fish and chips here. Locals probably wouldn't agree. But wow, yum, I'm glad we ended up here. We also liked the friendly local atmosphere of the pub, and the attentive staff. The ingress portal also made me pretty happy. read more

It is a late mediaeval Grade II listed building unusual in style, for West Middlesex, of a hall house known as a Wealden type because of its prevalence in the Kent area. There are only two such houses within the Borough of Hillingdon and the King William is remarkably fine in that internally one can still appreciate the pattern of an open hall rising through two storeys with accommodation on two floors at each end. The centre has been in-filled, but the building still retains its character and, although re-fronted, its medieval origins are very clear from the side elevations and roof form. they have theme nights on wednesdays. a good event to relax in the middle of your hectic week read more

Stopped in here to avoid the tourist traps along Bath Road. Very quaint British pudget that served authentic Thai food. We ordered Thai food - noodle dishe - and it was really good. Prices were good and had some local flavor having a few pints. I would recommend to any one to take a walk to the King William. read more

I was very excited on getting to the King Billy, as it has that look and feel that to an American, at least, screams "traditional English pub." From placing your order at the bar, to the "built up over time" feel of the architecture and the sturdy-wood of pub furniture. When I think of the "pubs" I've been to in the states, I now know what they were aiming for with their imitations. I was a bit worried when I saw that the menu seemed to be mostly Indian and Thai dishes, with some "English food" items on the last page. No reason to be worried, however. I decided that if the King Billy could mix the two, so could I. I had the chicken satay with chips. It was awesome. And the chips were noticeably better than the ones from "the pub up the road" which I tried the following night. If you're staying at the Sheraton Heathrow, this is an easy 15-20 minute walk if you don't feel like driving. Or drive, if you're not comfortable walking through neighborhoods and fields. If it had been dark out, I might not have enjoyed the walk as much. I will _definitely_ go back. read more

Nice little neighborhood pub with 2 real ales. Both were OK. The locals weren't drinking it though. Everyone was very friendly and the "chips" were awesome. Take the 111 bus to get there from the airport hotels. read more
