Whenever one is staying in London...do not go searching for some American chain Faire. Far better to go where the locals go. If you want a descent meal the pub is where you have to go. The choice was the White Swan! Great service by a team that truly cared about me. The steak and ale pie for me and chicken and leek pie for my wife. If you're in Victoria do not miss it. If you head out tomorrow I might just be there too!!

The Homemade Pies rock at The White Swan! We arrived for some food and drink and left now having a favorite location for Handcrafted Pies. Per their menu, these seem to be their specialty. The three of us each had a pie and I tasted all of them. I really love the gravy. It is a red wine gravy and is thick and super flavorful. They should sell it by the jar. I'd certainly buy a couple for later. My wife and I had the Chicken, Ham Hock and Leek Pies while my daughter had one of the two vegetable pies (I don't remember which one.). The dishes are served with buttered tenderstem broccoli and a choice of creamed mash or chips. We all chose the mash and it was soooo yummy. I'm not even a mashed potato fan but these were prepared perfectly and even had a bit of a crust on top from as they were probably finished off in a broiler. The pies had flaky buttery crusts and super delicious fillings inside. Very flavorful and satisfying. This place probably goes through a lot of butter daily. All together, this meal was awesome. I will definitely return here for more of the same. I highly recommend the pies. Thanks White Swan. You guys are awesome!

We were looking for a place for our family to eat. A lot of the pubs/restaurants around here reserve seats so even though a place may be empty, they hold seats. Also, not many places around this area seem to be family friendly. So we were happy that we were able to find an open table here, and that it wasn't standing room only drinkers. We ordered drinks and food. Decent selection of beers on tap. It was interesting to try the English version of nachos. We got some small plates, drank some pints of local brew and watched a Euro soccer match. Staff was friendly and efficient. Lots of young locals hanging out.

Nice neighborhood pub with the perfect sized crowd...not too packed...not too dead. Good selection of beers, including quite a few cask ales. Friendly staff. Decent food. I'll be back! Cheers.

We arrived at our Verbo and looking at Google maps the Swan was very close around the corner, perfect. We headed over just about the time London left work for the day. Jam packed. We made our way to the bar for a beer, when the folks in front of me decided to leave. Thank you, two stools. We took advantage and had a seat, ordered our beers and we had to try their fish and chips. The food was out and delivered PDQ, one large battered piece of cod, what we would call "steak" fries and a scoop of mashed peas. Could have done with a few more chips since we were sharing. The mashed peas were great a bit sweet, was good. Cod was well...cod. No complaints. The pub had thinned out a bit and we took off for a walk along the river for an evening stroll. Good as it Gets is fine with us. Foodguy-martin

Like a lot of pubs in London, especially the ones that happen to be in the central London area, this one has quite a bit of charm. Then again, this is one of the reasons that I love England, and that is that the pubs are all really nice and charming. There are some decent beers here as well, though many of these beers are basically made, or owned, by the majors.

fish, chips, and mashed peas, along with a bun... pilsner beer.

The first time for me at this local social pub, a two floor active atmosphere where the service is great and the fish&chips were excellent! The batter on the fish was crispy(a little greasy) and fresh to taste, along with the mashed peas and tartar sauce. I would definitely recommend this friendly cozy pub.

We had been walking for several hours and in desperate need of a delicious meal. Naturally, I turned to Yelp to track down a delicious option. I noticed that my Community Manager, Matthew L., had visited The White Swan and wrote a positive review about his experience. This affirmation was all that we needed to walk through the door. The White Swan looks like your local pub that groups gather for small birthday parties, holiday parties, and little get-togethers after work. We walked in a sat ourselves down at a small table near the window to look over the menu. I was immediately sold on the Fish & Chips after reading previous reviews. I approached the bar to place our order and was greeted by a kind bartender that took my order, recommended a local IPA, and closed out my tab. I returned to my seat and awaited by food. The pub had a large TV' airing local games, and the sound of conversations filled the room. If I were to live in London, this has the type of vibe that I would look for after finishing a long day of work. The food was just as previous reviews stated, delicious. The fish was a long piece of white fish that was appropriately battered. The fish was deep fried the perfect amount of time and very crispy. We all know that you can receive fish that is soggy from the amount of grease that is stored in the batter. This was not the case with this piece. The chips were thick-cut fries that were covered in salt. The dish was also garnished with a small bowl of mashed peas that were a pleasant surprise.

I had just arrived in London and I asked the women working at the hotel is she could recommend a restaurant nearby to get some pub food. She suggested that I go to White Swan and I am sure glad that I did! White Swan is a big corner pub in Westminster a area of London. Like all London pubs you go and order at the bar and they bring your food out to you. After a long day of traveling I knew I wanted 2 things. A pint of beer and some fish and chips! I ordered at the bar and told the bar tender I wanted a local IPA. He asked a few questions and then served me something local after allowing me a sample first. It was a really good beer. I took a seat at a table and they had some live music. The band was really good and played some top hits and I think he played some original songs as well. Finally the fish and chips came out. They also brought me some onion rings as well. The fish was really good. It was a long piece of fish, a generous portion of chips and mushy peas. I'm not the biggest fan of mushy peas, but they were okay. The onion rings were not very good, but this was a added bonus and I won't fault them for this. Overall I had a great meal at White Swann! I would for sure come back if I was in the neighborhood!

This was the very first pub we visited in London! It will forever hold a special place in our hearts! It was here that we tried our first plate of fish & chips and got a taste of a British pub. We were very happy we did because the place is really nice. The decor is great and WS has the cleanest men's room I've ever seen in Europe! I'll definitely go back during our next visit to London.

My husband and I stayed nearby at the Hilton and this restaurant was recommended. We had our first meal here when we arrived and it was great. We went back and I got the fish and chips (first time) and it was ah-mazing. I had mushy peas with it and they alerted also delish. My husband had chicken bites with a Thai sauce and they were also delish. Great atmosphere and location.

Definitely a spot if you want a local pub feeling. The food was ok but not sure I'd recommend it to others.

My husband enjoyed the fish and chips and I (a vegetarian) had the cheese, onion, and potato pie with a red wine gravy.
