Well, I just popped in here for a quick drink, though it was lucky that I managed to get to The Globe just before my play started (which is quite handy to be honest with you). Yeah, I just popped into this pretty cool pub, which does have a lot of the charm that you tend to get from London pubs, even though it does happen to be on the south side of the Thames. Mind you, despite it being pretty crowded, it still had quite a lot of atmosphere.

Nice pub located on a really quiet block. We dropped by on a Saturday afternoon at around 3pm and the place was pretty empty. There were a few parties inside, but not many people. The menus were located right on the table and we helped ourselves to ordering the following at the bar: BRITISH ALE BATTERED COD WITH TRIPLE COOKED CHIPS AND MUSHY PEAS Really good fish and chips dish. The cod was oddly-shaped on my dish, but nonetheless well-fried. This was probably one of the better, if not the best fish and chips I had in a pub in London! Yes, I know that's verrrry bold statement. There was a decent amount of chips on the dish, but not overwhelmingly a lot. As for the mushy peas, I was never a huge fan of them, but they were still ok despite my lack of interest in it. HOMEMADE CHICKEN POT PIE SERVED WITH CREAMY MASH AND ROASTED VEG This was my girlfriend's dish so I didn't get to try much of it, but from what I tried and saw it was pretty good. First of all, the pie looked huge, but when she dug into it, we realized it was mostly hot air inside. We liked the chicken and the sauce was tasty. Also, there was a healthy serving of roasted potatoes and veggies to the side that mixed well. This was a really nice, quiet pub. There was plenty of spacing in between tables and seats and there was no overcrowding inside when we were there. The fish and chips were really good and absolutely was the most flavorful fish and chips we had tried in London!

This is hidden away in a series of small streets, yet very accessible from the Waterloo area. We were looking for an English pub to eat at, and most of them in the main Waterloo area were absolutely slammed, so it's a relieve to find this little place. We walked in and they didn't have any tables, but they were really friendly so we hung out at the bar for a little bit until one opened up. They actually helped us get a seat, which was very nice of them. Most people just seemed to be here for pre-game -- get a drink, have a chat, and leave. We actually were interested in having dinner, and we ordered a caesar salad, the fish and chips, and one of the Sunday roasts. Caesar salad was, well, caesar salad. It would've been quite normal except for the little fillets of anchovies. Nice touch. The fish and chips was huge. It was a big fish fillet, and it was fresh and delicious. The mister really enjoyed it (guess we didn't go to the UK for nothing!). However, my sunday roast beef was so-so. The gravy was quite bland, and the meat was pretty tough until I get to the stuffing. At least the stuffing was good. The environment was friendly, the food was decent, and the price wouldn't break your bank. This is definitely a cute little pub to visit if you're in the area.

    Cozy all the way around.

Great neighborhood feel at this place, without being stuffy, or making tourists feel out of place. Couples chatting, others playing cards and a family with a small toddler, wrapping up their early evening. The 2 guy bartenders were efficient and friendly. Standard London pub atmosphere with the same drill. Just order at the bar and have a seat. Order the food at the bar too, and they'll bring it to you. Wife had a craving for a traditional Sunday Pot roast dinner, and we got it nicely here. Even delivery of an extra plate, because we were sharing was a nice touch. The food was spot on, but nothing spectacular. Just family meals that are slowly being replaced too frequently with marked up gastropub fare. Nice 5 minute walk down the safe, back streets, lined with quaint London tiny houses. The place offers a warm glow outside, and delivers the same on the inside.

Great local bar off the beaten path. A great variety of craft beers and great friendly servers. I had my first ice cream porter and I enjoyed it very much. I paired it with the lamb roast which was served with root vegetables, cabbage peas and roasted potatoes. I also tried the table served hoarse radish and yellow mustard. The yellow mustard packs a punch to the sinus. The lamb was very well cooked and seasoned. It was tender and there was any lamb taste. If I'm in the area again I would definitely grab a pint.

My favorite pub in the entire world, the White Hart is a gem of the Southbank area. Located on Cornwall Road, just one blocks south of the Waterloo tube stop, the White Hart is a quintessential British pub. The big wooden tables are great for groups, while the small, cozy nooks are perfect for grabbing for a drink with that special someone :) I recommend going in the afternoons, as it can be hard to get a table after 6 or so. Plus, during lunch time they have a great special where you can get a sandwich and a pint for only £5. They have a terrific selection of beers on tap, including some of my personal favorites: Peroni, Leffe Blonde, Hoegaarden and Fruli (an amazing strawberry beer).

Came here for our first night out in London and we had a blast! It was so much fun and the bartenders Victoria and the two other men were very helpful, funny and more then happy to talk to us about London and what it's like as well as where to eat and do! The drinks I tried was the apple fritzer and another orange critic one; they were both delicious! Overall this was an amazing fun place on our first night out and we are definitely coming again (our flat is a block away!) We met amazing locals, Yessica and Jack who helped make this night memorable! Would recommend this small pub to anyone (:

We chose this place on our last night in London, aiming for a typical London pub with that British pub feel and typical food. Totally found it! Love the look of this place. Cozy, small-ish size. 5 stars for cozyness. It was busy and tables were all full but we grabbed one drink and shortly one opened up. There seem to be no waiter service in London because nobody came to clean the previous people's food off of our table, we had to push it to the side until halfway through the meal when someone noticed. Also we didn't go to enough restaurants in London to tell, but I guess here you just order food at the bar? That seemed to be the way it was in 3 places we ate at. So we ordered up at the bar after waiting 20min for a waiter that never came. We were told one dish was sold out so we picked another. 20min later the bartender came over and told us the other dish was sold out, so I picked another and he left. Then he came back saying that one was also sold out! THIS is why I still give it 4 stars after all the food being sold out... What we did end up with (despite it not being our first, second, or third choice) was still amazing and exactly what we were looking for when we chose this pub. It was a beef pie and then fish & chips. I loved it all and was so satisfied with it being the last meal of the trip. Definitely go to this place if you get the chance and are nearby all the touristy areas. It's a short walk and is probably one of the more traditional home-y dining you'll get in the area.

Went there for a Sunday roast on a sunny day. What a nice place to go! I ordered a Mixed roast which was really tasty and they also have a great selection of bottles of beer. The place itself is not noisy and was nice to stay here after lunch to enjoy the sun coming from outside. I had a Kwak beer (I know it's strong but I love strong Belgian beers) and my friend had a coke. The roast,as I said, was really tasty and all the ingredients were properly cooked from the meat till the vegetables. The only con is the price :don't expect to spend less than 20£pp with for a Sunday roast and a drink.

Given the location, I knew it was probably a tourist trap and I wish to avoid those usually but had no time so stopped in on a Monday afternoon for lunch. I'm so glad I did! I was in London only briefly and had yet to try proper fish and chips and I was definitely WOW'd. I've only had this in America, and this was definitely better than anything I've ever had. When it arrived on my table, I could feel the heat from the plate -- that's how scalding hot and fresh it was, and I loved that! The cod was absolutely massive, a thick portion of fish deep fried with the skin on within an incredibly crunchy beer batter. There were pieces of bone in it, but no bother, this only made it seem more fresh. The chips (thick cut fries) were perfectly crispy and both the fish and chips were insanely delicious with a bit of salt and malt vinegar (which I had to request by walking up to the bar). The dish came with a tartar sauce and ketchup, but tasted way better with the salt and vin. I absolutely love that the fish and chips also came with mushy peas, whereas most pubs only give you fish and chips alone. The dish was also very well priced at 9.95 GBP, and I was able to use my credit card, rounded up to 10 GBP because they have a 10 GBP minimum for using cards. I appreciate that this restaurant had free wi-fi, which I found out by asking my waiter, who quickly provided the secret code for me to use. In America you would never ask your server for this but I noticed that nearly every hotel and restaurant I visited during my 11-day tour of Europe offered wi-fi. Good on them, because how else would I check in to a restaurant on Yelp and shower them with praise and circulate promotional foodie photos on Instagram? During a weekday, many workers nearby flood this place to grab a pint during lunch....now, why don't I work in London? I would give this place five stars based on the food alone, but I am giving it four because I wished the service had been more attentive, as I had to go up to the bar to get malt vinegar and also to ask to pay my bill. I understand service in Europe is more laissez-faire than in America, but since this is a tourist spot I would have liked to be checked on by the staff at least once during my meal, and certainly to be presented with the bill. Note: They also serve Sunday roast dinner for 9.95 GBP on Sundays

We arrived just after the work day, and the crowd was buzzing just outside. We did the self-seating option indoors, and sat down to a great view of the Thames river, as we pondered our meal choices from the menu. The location is just great. For a leadoff drink, I had to go with the house cask ale, which was the Fuller's ESB, a drink I've been enjoying since the 1990's, and it delivered as expected. I went with an order of Sausages with mashed potatoes and peas...it doesn't get much more classic than that, and I was happy with it, especially with the quantity (3 sausages!). Wifey was on the hunt for a meat pie, and she went with the Steak, Ale & Mushroom Pie, which I can report was wholeheartedly approved. One of the better pies we've had on the overall trip, and the best we had at a pub location. The overall vibe of this pub is exactly as you might picture it, and we weren't disappointed with any aspect. Service, though not overly patient (hey - they were busy), was competent and pleasant. Cheers!
