    Toby was a wonderful treat.

I came here for the Sunday roast as I was staying at the hotel across the road before flying back to the USA. It was wonderful. Everything was fresh and cooked to perfection. There was nothing about the food I found lacking. The service was also great. Friendly and at tentative to our needs. Next time I have to stay at a hotel near Heathrow I'll visit here.

First time trying the Toby carvery & I can say the Sunday roasts did not disappoint for £9.99! Have now booked a table at the Windsor branch for next month. We had not booked a table, so we waited around 40 Mins. The place was very busy on the Sunday and plenty of people happy to wait for a table just like us. We queued for the food, like canteen style and I asked for the gammon and pork. I thought I received a decent portion of meat, but only one Yorkshire pudding. You can pay £1.50 for an extra Yorkie and 2 sausages. I then added stuffing and the veg; sweet potatoe, mash, carrots & potatoes. I then went to the gravy station and had the veg one. I tucked in and everything was nice and hot. I didn't fill my plate up as the veg is all you can eat. I thought I would go back to re-fill, but I was content with my first serving. We didn't have room for dessert so will make sure to try that next time!

Yeah, it's actually a pretty awesome pub. It has that real country English charm, despite the fact that Datchett is literally an Exurb of London. Definitely worth a visit, even though the beer garden is basically non-existent.

The Royal Stag used to be my local, it was lively, warm and friendly with great food and atmosphere and the perfect setting for a Christmas meal. After having not been for over 2years I decided to pay it a visit. granted I visited it on a rainy Saturday afternoon so it was pretty empty. The pub looked the same, but all had changed. It looks like the pub has changed hands since I last went and there was a different menu. Really hungry I decided to order a jacket potato and my boyfriend decided to get a cajun chicken burger, the price seemed reasonable and we were starving!!! As we waited I started to eat my words about the pub being so great. 50mins later our food order finally arrived, I was starting to wonder if they'd actually been growing my jacket potato and whether they were hand rearing the chicken for the cajun burger before we got our food. I was really disappointed because it took so long and then noticed that my jacket potato had been microwaved as it was all chewy. The only redeeming feature was the lady who served it, who was smiley and friendly but she gave no mention of a sorry for your wait, I couldn't even understand why it had taken so long when the place was practically empty. Also as we were finishing up a lady went to the bar to complain that her hot drink had been served to her cold eek! Sadly I think The Royal Stag is another victim of being not as good as it used to be, I don't think I will be going back in a hurry to this one or maybe only go here if you want to grab a drink if you're in the area.

Absolutely delicious!…read more The food here is excellent, and the menu has a lot of options to choose from. We came early in the morning, and there were only a couple of other diners eating when we walked in. We were promptly seated and our drink order was taken. There was only one server, and he didn't come back with my coffee, or take our food order for ages. I admit, I was very frustrated with the long wait, and mumbled under my breath about how long it took to make a coffee. Unbeknownst to me, the server was right behind me and heard my remark... needless to say, service was prompt and efficient after that! I ordered the Plant Plate and was absolutely blown away at the huge portions, also how delicious everything was. I'm American, and my spouse is British, so I always thought it was strange to watch him eat baked beans for breakfast over the years... but surprisingly, it's pretty good and I'd definitely have it again. My spouse had the Pancake Stack with fresh fruit and really enjoyed his as well. The dining room is bright, airy, comfortable, and clean. The toilets are clean as well. Overall, the food was excellent, reasonably priced, and a great value for the huge portions and fresh, delicious food you get to enjoy. Highly Recommended!

The highlight was definitely the crispy calamari in my opinion. My party enjoyed Bill's Fish Pie which had pieces of salmon in (tasted like mashed potatoes). They have both indoor and outdoor seating available. Price is fair. Unfortunately, this is not really my type of food (too heavy for me), so it'll probably be my first and last, but if this is your jam, you should definitely check it out. This was my first time here and will probably be my last.

I had the wild mushroom poached egg toast which was simply outstanding. I also had the tomato basil soup which was very good. My husband had the Cajun chicken on a bun with fries. It was very good. The fries were extra tasty. We had Stoke's Ketchup for the first time and liked that as well. There is seating inside and out. We opted for inside since the front seating is on a busy road. Then we noticed rear seating in a garden and probably would have opted for that, but we had already moved once.

They had one server and she told us that she was the only one working that night and because of that and a shortage in kitchen staff that there was an hour wait for food and that we might want to consider going somewhere else. We elected to stay and put in a drink order. 20 minutes later she came back to take our food order, but no drinks were brought back. We eventually got our drinks and then 40 minutes later she came back and said that they lost our food order and we'd have to re-order if we wanted to eat there. I would've bailed at this point, but my guests agreed to put in their order again, so an hour later we finally received our food. I was not planning on dining at 10 PM. Overall, food was good (I had their meat pie). The place looks and feels like the quintessential English pub. Unfortunately, it was a pretty disastrous dining experience due to a lack of staff.
