Our tea spread
Jean V.

LOVED the Afternoon Tea experience, WOW! The price for the ambiance, food and service were top notch. I will recommend this to everyone. We researched several afternoon tea experiences for our day in London, and this one had great reviews on multiple platforms online. The walk through Bourough Market was nice and then we come to this floralscape at the front of Roast that is so picturesque. But walk into the actual restaurant is what blew me away. The floral decor and decor of the restaurant, along with the style of the staff and bar is aesthetically pleasing. It made for GREAT PICTURES and videos. The tea sets were beautiful as well. WELL-CRAFTED spread! The staff and service was top notch. Everyone was knowledgable, friendly and attentive. I was happy with the price we paid for the tea and food selection of afternoon tea. Everything was quality and tasty. It was the perfect amount of food and I enjoyed the taste of everything I ate. Don't miss out on this experience at the Roast!

Afternoon Tea was very good. Braised Beef Croquet & Scotch Egg were the best warm items, and the Apple Crumble Tart was our favorite dessert. I'm not a salmon fan, so that was my least favorite item. But all the others were very good. Warm scone were very good. I got tea, but you could get coffee. If the ask if you want still or sparkling water, you will be charged for the bottle. Ask for Tap water.....it's free. Service was great.

Came here for a work dinner and it was a decent meal! The ambiance was quite nice due to it being on top of Borough Market but it was otherwise a standard upscale dinner spot. I had the beef wellington for the first time and maybe the last time. It was just quite thick.

A beautiful restaurant above the market. I loved the floral entry at the base of the stairs. Unfortunately the food wasn't great at all. I had the Potato & Nettle Soup that tasted like grass. And the Roasted Seabass that was so salty it was un edible. The food on the market floor was better.

I'd only eaten a small piece that was on top so this is not a half-eaten portion.

My lessons learned is that you should always go with a local's recommendation. My friend had wanted to book us into Hawksmoor for steak at Borough Market, but I was seriously craving Sunday roast. Since it wasn't Sunday, I was pleasantly surprised to find that Roast was both in the BM but also, serves a Christmas roast with all the trimmings. The service was pretty poor...the waiter was just so unfriendly and unaccommodating. Tried our best to interact with him as minimally as possible. The food was a 0. I ordered the beef roast which was the driest piece of meat ever. The Yorkshire pudding was the best part of the meal. I ordered the rice pudding which was pretty disgustingly bland....tasted like some you can get in a hospital canteen but just a big bowl of it. The manager took this off my bill which still came to 165 GBP for 2 ppl. Total waste of money. Don't let the festive decor fool you into thinking that the food is any good, as I did.

One of the things I was most looking forward to during my trip to London was a Sunday roast dinner. But I was horrified to find out that Sunday roasts are typically only served ON SUNDAYS! The horror! I was only there for one Sunday and had no clue how I was going to choose from all the amazing options. Cue Roast! Welcome to the only restaurant in town that serves piping hot Sunday roasts EVERY DAY. There are other things on the menu, but clearly roasts are their specialty. I got the roast beef, which was amazing, and my husband got a delicious melt-in-your-mouth beef Wellington. Neither of us regretted our choices, the meat was fabulous! I was surprised to find that I liked the potatoes nearly as much as my luscious, perfectly cooked roast beef!. They had great flavor and a nice crispy outside. Service was friendly, the food came out quickly, and overall, this is a meal I will definitely remember.

We had afternoon tea here during our last day in London. This is a beautiful restaurant that is literally above the hustle and bustle of Borough Market. The staff were very professional and deferential, and the food and tea were amazing. The scones were the very best that I have ever had. The cost of afternoon tea was a bit higher than in many places, so it's definitely more of a splurge, but definitely one that you will remember.

This restaurant is so pretty and has a really lively atmosphere. Our service was okay, the server seemed pretty annoyed with us the entire time. The cocktails were bomb & super tasty. I didn't enjoy the beef Wellington, it was my first time trying so I think it's just personal preference. My friends got the roast beef which was delicious &. I would go there to get that dish again!

Tea time here is awesome- love their scotch egg. Came back here for their beef Wellington. Of course it is delicious, but my another highlight is the side dish- truffle matched potato.

There is not a better was to spend Sunday afternoon roast than the Sunday roast at Roast in Borough Market. A big bright bustling restaurant with great service starting with your welcome at the front desk, to ordering your first drink, to looking at that great big roast with beef, Yorkshire pudding and vegetables. It's an excellent way to spend a Sunday afternoon with friends. Yesterday was my 4th time going over the past few years. Wander around Borough Market before lunch because the Market vendors begin to pack up around 3 pm.

We came here in 2016 and it was a wonderful Sunday dinner and we could not wait to return. Sadly, this time the meal was very disappointing and stupid expensive. To be brief, the yorkshire pudding was sad and flat, the roast cold and way too rare (ordered it med rare), and the serving much smaller than before. We shared an app, one cocktail, two meals, shared dessert and it was £130.

Tea

I made a reservation for afternoon tea for two. The food was well prepared, good quality, and very delicious. You get a lot of food in my opinion. The tea was also delicious and lovely. I opted for the tea and a cocktail. I ordered the Big Ben which was delicious and presented very well. Overall it was a delightful afternoon tea experience.

Thanks so much to the hostess for fitting us in, on a Sunday, without reservations. We ordered the 48-Day dry aged roast beef with Yorkshire pudding, so that we could try a typical English dish, and it did not disappointment! The meat was tender and the whole meal had great flavor! So glad we got to eat here!

Came here for pre-theater anniversary dinner with my wife. The ambiance was somewhere between that of a trendy club and nice bar. There was a mad scientist vibe with the lights being industrial vibe and some metal decor. The music was thumpy and loud enough to remind you it was there. It made me feel a bit out-of-place as somebody well past my 20s, but also a bit cool or being there. You really come here for the drinks. We got the pipe dream, smokey old fashioned, honeypot picante, and one other I can't remember the name of, but which came in a flower pot. The pipe dream and smokey old fashioned were likely the best. Overall the drinks were more visually appealing than traditionally good and the visually appealing ones tended to have ingredients that weren't as top shelf and/or they were just too sweet. Not bad, but disappointing for what we'd hope. The food was the opposite. I had low expectations and the food wasn't amazing, but was better than average. We got the bao buns, crispy duck pancakes, panko halloumi, katsu curry, and hot honey pork tacos. They arranged for it all to come out in time for us to make our theater show, which was nice. The bao buns and pork tacos were probably the best. Neither blew me away, but both were solid. The katsu curry and halloumi were standard of what you might expect. The crispy duck pancakes was maybe as advertised, but it would have been nice to have some moistness or substance to the dug vs. it basically being crunchy salty bits of something. Overall, this wasn't a bad meal, but it wasn't quite what I was hoping for either. We may be back, but we'll probably try other things first.

Whilst it's not the most posh place I've been, it usually gets the job done well. Drinks are how you would find at most pubs, and service is decent too, given how a waitress came to ask us what we wanted and served us amidst a busy rugby game (at other times, we had gone to the bar to order ourselves). There are quite a few tv screens as well as a big home theatre-like one too, which always adds to your sports watching experience. I've never had food here before but would like to try sometime. Oddly, to open a tab, you have to give them both your credit/debit card AND your driver's license/passport/ID card. They give you a "badge" which you then show every time you order, apparently so they know which tab to bill it to. A bit weird to me, but maybe that's the norm in London, or at least in high-tourist bars in London. Also, they won't let men inside if you are wearing a hat-- you must remove the hat to enter. Fortunately, once inside, I put my hat back on and didn't have a problem with anyone saying anything. Glad my hat hair didn't have to be on display!

We were respectful and nonpolitical, she assumed from our ethnic backgrounds and treated us accordingly. She verbatim said she will not serve our kind. If you want a pub without employees making every thing political, this is not the spot. We do not even entertain politics, she just put us in a basket. This is the first time in my life I had to exit the pub because of the brainwashed ultra lefty employee. I love all people and people on the left, it sucks that this extremist ruined the night after spending our hard earned money. It was the second pub I visited on my visit to London, and again, I can't wait to go back. First, the prices: in America, two drinks would have cost at least $20; here, two drinks were only £11. I would've spent the whole night there if I could, but when you're traveling and have places to be early the next day, it's hard. Second, the service and ambiance were great. They serve the drinks very quickly, and of course, they know how to pour a pint of Guinness.
