I tried the carrot juice and it did taste like play doh (fair warning if you don't drink juice like that) not their fault I just wanted to try something different. FAST review Food: is just ok, not many options, I had the potato, mushroom leak pie and we also got the chicken club, along with a side of sweet potato fries. The fries were really good. The beers were 2/3 pints and fairly priced. Atmosphere: these two guys were awesome. Playing some great music. Bohemian feel, nice bar. Service: the young lady serving us was really nice. I was craving escargot and steak tar tar. The snails were dry and old and were covered in huge bacon bits which overwhelmed the taste of escargot ( maybe on purpose ). I am a purist and asked if they would hold the bacon and they said no. I assumed it was part of some sauce. The fact that they were huge pieces makes me wonder why they couldn't just not put them on top. Tar tar was mediocre and the mustard overwhelmed the beef. The most disappointing things were that I was forgotten and it took the staff 25 to come back with my beer and to take my order. The other thing, the ceiling above the bar and all around the patrons and the food are fruit flies. I've worked in restaurants my whole life and it's a clear sign the the bugs are breeding by the bar. Bars often don't clean underneath the surfaces and don't flush out sink pipes, ice drain pipes, and floor drains, along with the rubber mats. That's where they breed. I think this spot is a tourist trap - maybe? But quality of food is definitely a disappointment read more

The website advertises a before theater fixed price menu. When I got there I was told it was not available even though I arrived before the dinner theater period ended. The standard menu offered a free glass of wine or water. I ordered sparkling water and was later told it didn't qualify for the menu special with my food order. Now for the food, they had run out of the entrecôte which why I had made a reservation here in the first place. Too late to change restaurants as I had theatre tickets starting in a little over an hour. I got the hanger steak instead and it was excellent. Tasty, tender, not too fatty and cooked a perfect medium rare. It came with some béarnaise sauce. The frites were really good. The free glass of wine was a vin ordinaire and not very tasty. read more

I absolutely love Steak/Frites and so I was excited to this item on their menu, and I wasn't disappointed. I've ordered it 3 times now, and each time it was great. Please give this local establishment a chance because we have enough Mexican and Italian joints in the area - a French restaurant is such a welcome and wonderful gift to our neighborhood. Made a reservation here for breakfast and arrived early. When we arrived we found that the doors were locked even though the advertised hours said it should be open. We waited about half an hour assuming it was opening late for Boxing Day. Nobody would come to the door and speak to us about whether it was opening in time for our reservation and we feared they weren't opening until noon. After about 35 minutes we tried to simply ask if it was worth waiting outside in the cold for since they clearly weren't opening for their advertised time. The staff inside were too preoccupied making their own hot drinks and purposefully ignoring us trying to simply find out if our booking was at a valid time. We decided that if that's how we were treated before service we didn't want the service and went elsewhere. In short, extremely rude. read more

Service was quite slow and we were perpetually asking for more water, but the food was very good. Quite pricey as well, but food was very good. We started with an onion soup and charcuterie board. The onion soup was very good, perhaps a bit light on cheese, but very good. Charctuterie was tasty as well. I went for the salmon while my wife and friend both went for the bavette steak et frites. Café Boheme is a deliciously quaint French brasserie and bar on Old Compton Street in Soho. It has those foldable front facades which open the restaurant onto the street - perfect for this surprisingly sunny, shower-free summer weather. Five of us squeezed around a table on the absolute fringe of the restaurant and the street, just behind the brilliant guitarists whose bluesy riffs, like the pied piper, had guided us there in the first place. This eatery has oodles of charm and ambience. Having tanked up on possibly the best kababs in town at Kian Samyani's Berenjak (@berenjaklondon) around the corner on Romilly street, we ate nothing at Café Boheme. But we drank quite a bit. Lager at first (gotta wash them kababs down with something) but then we switched to Ford's gin as the blues got the better of us. Service? Super! In fact, our severely overcrowded table found the staff friendly, foreign and attentive. I cannot think of an afternoon I have enjoyed more than this in a long, long time. Have drinks here but perhaps consider eating before you arrive. The location is wonderfully placed in the heart of Soho, but that's really as exciting as it get. They offer a theatre menu which is great value for money, in theory. However in practise it was pretty grim. Starter Whitebait - The batter used had far to much flour and not enough seasoning. Main Rump Steak - This cow must have been a hunk of a heifer as my piece of arse was mainly fat, and not in a phat kinda way. Dessert - I passed and pudding and simply ordered more champagne! The Grey Goose Fizz is tart but tremendous - just how I like it. More wine vicar! read more

When eating in in Soho, I know I'm safe in the hands of Cafe Boheme. In my humble opinion, this is one of the best places around and does one of the best steaks I have ever eaten. It's Parisian, moody, 90's chic feel has got me written all over it. It's always heaving so you may need to wait at the bar for a little while for a table, but it's definitely worth it. The drinks on offer are fantastic too. Impressive wine list, cocktails, and the strongest, tastiest little coffees. Being French this was always going to be a winner with me, the menu is simple and to die for, and the food is executed to perfection. C'est magnifique! This time around I went for the deep fried Camembert with onion chutney to start, it was like a little piece of heaven melting in my mouth... Drool. The onion had a slight cinnamony taste which I usually don't like but it really worked nicely here. I went for the fillet steak frites, with a peppercorn sauce and accompanied by green beans. It was knock out. Every time I come it never fails me. Lovely relaxed but buzzing atmosphere. Adore this place it's such a fail safe option in sea of uncertainty. read more

What a lovely little cafe. Very French feeling. Stopped in for Sunday brunch and was surprised the place was quite empty. This was a good thing as most brunch places in the area have huge queues on the weekend. The food was delicious all around. I can recommend the omelette, the French toast with pecan butter, sausage, and the toast with avocado and a poached egg (with loads of avocado piled high). Service was excellent, attentive, accommodating to dietary restrictions, and very friendly. I'll definitely be coming back for another meal or a post-show drink! read more

Café Boheme has become my boyfriend and I's go to spot to talk and relax. We go because we love the atmosphere and the dark wooden bar. When we go to Café Boheme we go to share a bottle of wine, the food looks good, but we've never eaten there (mental note, make plans for dinner). What we enjoy is outstanding customer service and a good bottle of white wine. We have tried several bottles and have yet to be disappointed, even their less expensive wines are very good. While we sit, we people watch, after all it is Soho! Café Boheme is the perfect spot for a pre-theatre or pre-dinner drink. It is also an ideal after work spot because you are able to have drinks in a nice intimate place and just enjoy the atmosphere and the company! read more

I randomly came here for breakfast on my last day of my London trip and I'm glad I did. I was on a hunt for a proper Guinness and Beef pie (yes for breakfast) but could not find any. As my stomach rumbled and was getting tired of lugging my luggage around town I found this one place to be only restaurant open (or so i thought) at 7:45am on a weekday. When I opened the door there was no one inside but the staff. I asked if they were open yet and answered with a kind greeting and said they'll be at 8 but I could come in. I ordered their full english breakfast (proper way to end my trip in my opinion) with a cup of black coffee (americano). The coffee was well made and strong just the way I like it, and the breakfast was just the way I would like it, hearty and yummy. Throughout my meal the staff checked up on me to make sure everything was ok. This establishment is also at a great location, right next to soho, leicester square, and covent gardens. I'd defintely would visit this place again on my next trip down to London town. oh, and they have free wifi too! (you'll just have to ask the staff for the password) read more

I've only been for cocktails, which were all worth five stars, but am giving four stars as I haven't tried their food. The cocktail with apple juice and passion fruit is my absolute favourite. Sweet but adequately alcoholic, it always pleases my palate. My friends got the spicy one and the berry one, and they were both phenomenal. I particularly liked the spicy one as it was very unique, genuinely spicy and refreshing all at once. Would like to try out their food sometime too. I stumbled into this place on a very merry evening. I've walked past it many a time but I have never had the urge to go in, maybe this is because it looks quite sophisticated and pretentious. It's in the centre of Soho's gay district and it had a good mix of all sorts of people from all over the world which created a great mixing pot and totally countered my initial impression of it being pretentious. The wines were good (not that i know a great deal about wines!) but they can get quite pricey. They ranged from £13 a bottle right up to £50 but you really get the continental feel of a French Wine Bar. It's a good place to stop off in before going to a club. If you were looking for somewhere to take a date though I'd chose somewhere else as it can get VERY busy in there and it's difficult to have a conversation. read more

Granted, I've seen the occasional Big Brother 'star' here during the evening but all in all this lovely bar/bistro is a relaxed, chic establishment with great service and a lovely atmosphere. Tables can be hard to come by, but I've shown up with large groups of people before without a booking and the endlessly charming staff have managed to squeeze us in. All in all a great place for a drink in Soho which is even lovelier during the summer with its outside seating. read more

This is a great in Soho for people watching or just to grab a drink. My co-worker and I came here a couple different times and enjoyed hanging out. It's open late and has a great vibe with the old 1930's feel. It can be very loud though when the place is hopping. Lots of tables and a large bar to sit around. They serve food, but I haven't tried any of it. We came here both times because the place is open pretty late into the night. read more

My reason for falling in love with Café Boheme was pretty much because of the 3am licence. When I'd finished my shift at the Lab, I'd relax into the Parisian style décor and ambience with a rum & coke and feel good about life. It is a small place that really encompasses the Soho vibe of community mixed with posh, urban splendour. The menu is French and from experience the burger is great and the bangers and mash (I'm not sure they do anymore) was lovely. They are not the cheapest café by a long way, but if it is after hours and you are still hungry and want something good to eat this is the place. read more

I've been here for food and drinks, but in the main, cocktails and drinks. It is a buzzing small gem of a place. From the smiling bouncer on the door to the eccentric enthusiastic bar team. The bar area has a Sherlock Holmes selection and brass and feel to it and it makes for a perfect evening with friends. Having said that, you end up talking to randoms too, perfectly bizzarre, class, tasty and fun! Any night of the week, the nightlife is busy and packed! I've never eaten here, just had drinks on several occasions. Great ambiance - The lighting is dim, the music is loud, and the bar area is packed with thirsty patrons! I really like the strawberry mojitos and the long island with egg whites (i forgot what this was called). Yes, it is odd to have a drink with egg whites on it. I was skeptical at first, but it was good. The drinks were a bit pricey at 8£ or so, but they were good and strong. Its a nice place to people watch. Try to grab a table if you can. read more

Cafe Boheme is my go-to spot if I need to meet someone for coffee or an afternoon drink at a central location. It's easy to find, you can always get a seat, and I love the heated benches outside where you can watch all of humanity stroll down Old Compton. Yesterday I saw a woman with a parrot, a man wearing patent sparkle purple shoes and a group of nuns all within minutes of each other. The bar service can be hit or miss - we have been known to order French 75s (champagne, gin and lemon juice) in which the first round is great, but the next round is completely different. Fortunately they are always very nice if and when we send our drinks back. Apparently they are working on standardising their drink recipes. The cappucinos are a sure bet - large steaming bowls of frothy milk with good coffee hiding underneath. read more

My boyfriend pretty exclusively eats at Cafe Boheme and BKB next door, and now I see why. In my 5 day visit, we went twice for dinner. The scene is fantastic and the food is superb. When an American girl envisions herself dining out in London, she pictures this (or at least, I would). Trendy (for the most part), comfortable with a touch of romance, it's a great place for friends or a one on one dinner. The first night we went, I ordered mussels for a starter, which were meaty and cooked perfectly. And generously served. For a main, I chose the confit duck leg with red cabbage -- extremely tasty, and as a fairly regular duck consumer, it is definitely one of my favorite preparations and combinations of flavor. The meat was savory and tender and fell right off the bone, and the cabbage was a great complement. The second night we went, we shared the ham and cheese croquettes which were absolutely delicious. As a main, I went with the smoked haddock. Also incredibly savory, the wonderful, melt-in-your-mouth haddock with the perfectly seasoned potatoes was excellent. As much as I tease my boyfriend for being such a regular here, I will probably insist upon returning every time I visit. read more

Good Wine... ok food and service. Went with a friend craving French. Ambiance is cozy and staff friendly in general if inattentive. It was a challenge to keep our wine and water glasses full throughout the night. We ordered a grilled artichoke salad thinking we would get large halves of fresh artichoke but it was a big plate of leaves with 4-5 tiny pieces of canned artichoke hidden underneath. I wouldn't recommend. I ordered the moules frites for my main. The frites were delicious crispy and salty. The mussels were disappointing- rubbery and flavorless. The wine list was decent and the bottle we shared was lovely. I'd go back but only if convenient and just for a drink. read more

Cafe Boheme is a French themed bistro on Old Compton Street. It is divided into a bar and a restaurant area, with additional seating outside. It is open for breakfast and doesn't close until quite late. At night it can become quite crowded so best to get here early to get a table otherwise it's not much fun. I prefer to come in the day for brunch when it is less busy. The Eggs Benedict are done particularly well. It is a good place in Central London to eat and drink. I've given it three stars instead of four as, whilst the service is usually good, I came once with a friend and the waiter who served us was pretty stuck up and obnoxious. read more

I was working a lot of weekends at the start of the year (it sucks working on a Sunday), and when I had an hours break I would head down to Old Compton Street for an hours worth of sheer indulgence at Cafe Boheme. Pull up a stool at the bar, take in the eccentric Soho vibe, and order yourself a cocktail, skip the mains and go straight to dessert. Mine is always a creme brulee, sometimes with the addition of a cheese board. The bar staff are great fun, and you can hear live jazz music here on weekend afternoons, always good musicians and it adds to the bohemian feel of the place. Breakfast here is also recommended, come early and enjoy Soho first thing in the morning, when there are less crowds, just locals setting up for the day and the usual Soho characters out and about. read more

I have loved the food here at Cafe Boheme, especially their classic steak tartare and their perfectly crisp pommes frites. But what I cannot STAND is their management. There was a table that was extremely obnoxious and loud next to us and we politely asked the manager to quiet them down. He flat-out refused to do so, saying that it was a bar, after all, and that we could move when a table became free in the dining room. Well, I'm sorry, but you should not SERVE a full-course dinner at the bar if you are going to allow your customers to get that rowdy. A unique spot that sits in a great location amongst one of the hippest areas in the capital... Sitting in the very middle of all the Soho-hype, Cafe Boheme offers a welcomed spot to chill out and kick back with some drinks and good selection of food. I've eaten here a few times and both lunch and breakfast menus are good, solid options that will certainly accommodate the majority of taste buds. The setting is also very nice, upon walking in your thrown back a few years and into central Paris. Really french themed atmosphere and they do very well with keeping that feeling going - On sunny days, drinks and table spill out side and you can enjoy the bustle of the city go past. Although I've never had a bad experience in here, it just gets a little too manic for me. I feel they could remove about 10 tables from inside (obviously aware that's bad for business, and there's no need too because people flock to this place) which would give it a lot more of a relaxed and kicked-back feeling. The tables are jammed and on the last lunch visit we had a very small table, ideally for two, but threw the four of us on. It actually didn't fit the 4 plates of food on and I was left eating on my lap. Not a major deal, but just would of been nice on a bigger spot. Saying this, the food and drink is very nice. Very good coffee, that has warranted me visiting on a few occasions and the morning porridge is also a normal go-to. Outside of food, the drinks are also good. They offer some nice cocktails and if you're up for a few of them, it's a nice busy environment to do it! In all, a nice place thats hugely popular and a good way to chill a little in such a busy area. If you want outstanding dishes, I'd probably go elsewhere but still nice to be seen in!... read more
