We stumbled across Boro Bistro after visiting Borough Market and it was a cute little find. There's lots of seating outside, but since it was chilly we sat inside. The inside is pretty small with dim lighting, very cozy and relaxed. Our server was Italian and he was so sweet. We ordered the snails and they were actually pretty good. I got the beef bavette with pepper sauce and while the sauce was tasty, the meat was very chewy. The chicken schnitzel was okay too. The wine and the spicy margarita were both really good though. Overall, a nice spot to unwind after the market with good drinks and a cozy atmosphere. read more

Who would have guessed that the most pretentious place we ate at in England would be a French restaurant? Listen, I am okay with you judging me and making fun of me when I am in France. However, when you're not on your own turf, I recommend being a little more respectful to your customers. I will try my hardest in this review not to be prejudice but now you know that this experience got off to a bad start. The grilled cheese was delicious very cheesy and crunchy, each bite was delightful. The price for it however I think may have been a little outrageous. It was ultimately two pieces of bread and cheese for like $12. Not pounds. Dollars. Sides? Nope. Our travel companions had a burger that didn't look that appetizing but they never do in England so that wasn't too surprising. The meat dish (can't remember the name) was good, tender meat with a good flavor. I can only recommend the grilled cheese which was named something different. It had bread ham and cheese. THE VERDICT: But what about the cool decorum Alex? All of the fancy weird out of place stuff the giant candles that they keep adding to, and they just let the wax collect? Surely that has to be enough to make you impressed of this place. No... No it does not. Fancy frills are often the prescription to less than stellar service and food. This was a cute little bistro just outside the Borough Market. It has a cute patio with eclectic, random seating (beds, chairs, anything they could find...) and a small indoor café too. I ordered a pint but 2 of the 4 beers on the menu were not unavailable on tap. While it was cute, the food wasn't stellar. The chili crab cakes were really fishy. I took one bite and left the rest. The gratin of crozet with Tomme de Savoie was a small crock of tiny, flat, square-shaped macaroni and cheese with a slice of Tomme de Savoie broiled on top. It was good but not amazing. Friends enjoyed their Boro Board with all sorts of fruit, tapenade, meats and cheese - even the pungent ones! What a place ! Having a lunch break at Boro Bistro was a great experience. Not only was the food incredibly tasty (we ordered about 13 tapas) but the staff was very friendly. Some of us had some trouble understanding the English menu but that wasn't a problem as one of the waiters was French speaking. We wondered if the place is managed by French people given how much culinary sensitivity we found on the menu and in the dishes + the name "bistro" maybe ? The interior is fantastic, bohemian, magical DIY kind of vibe. Even going to the bathroom feels like a tiny adventure ! This place definitely deserves 5 stars but the bill we paid made me change my mind. The portions of our tapas were very modest, which isn't a problem if you have more than one but charging £8 for them is kind of exaggerated. We also shared a Boro Board (3 pieces of cheese, 3 kinds of meat and saucisson, some olives and 2 types of tapenade - every portion was small) and paid £20 for it. That's nearly 23€ for a handful zakouskis... So, if you want really great and tasty food and don't mind paying the price (and a little more) for it, go to Boro Bistro, you will not be disappointed! read more

It's a lively tapas place with DJ. The decoration was interesting (heard the gents toilet is an eye opener!) I think would be a good place for group gather. The service was friendly and it has a very good selection of tapas and wine by glass. All the dishes that we ordered was great! The sea bream was very fresh, spring roll with goat cheese and quince was delicious, and had 2 big scoops of ice cream for £3! We ordered 8 dishes (including 2 desserts) and 2 drinks for 2 people and the bills comes as £30pp. I think it's very good value:) read more

Woaaaah how have I never ever seen this place before! It was a Friday night and I made friends with a person visiting the Uk for the first time and he introduced this place to me. What can I say? It looked so quirky from the outside and I was more than happy to give it a go. Being a Friday night... It was so so busy. We sat outside on a bench, that was kinda like a recycled bed with cute fluffy blankets. In November, usually I'd be like, are you craaaaazy? Surprisingly though it wasn't so cold and made me love the place even more. Drinks wise we got cocktails. I went for a kir royal, which you can never go wrong with and he went for a strange concotion of jack Daniels, red wine and lemon.. It certainly packed a punch.. At 12 pounds each, by London standards a little pricey, but more due to location, I think. What stood out for me was the food! As a massive fan of fish, it was a no brainer to order a fish dish. I got one tapas which surprisingly filled me up. I had a beautiful zander fillet with a marinade, and tender butternut squash! Total stand out dish for me..: incredible! Lovely, interesting little bar. My friends and I ordered the sharing board and my god it was one of the best ones I've ever had. I was invited in to choose the three cheese for the board which was a nice touch. We also had the potatoes and calamari, both delicious especially the potatoes!! The only reason it's not getting 5 stars is because we had several drinks and think they may have been watered down - the amount we drank we shouldn't have been able to stand afterwards but we were totally fine! If you come here make sure you use the bathroom - they're very trippy and cool! read more

You HAVE to go to Boro Bistro when you are in London. What a hidden treasure. I gave Boro Bistro a five star rating because of the atmosphere, exceptional service and the beef onglet that touched my soul. After walking through the craziness of Borough Market, all I wanted to do was sit down and drink a bottle of prosecco. After finding Boro, just under the bridge, we were greeted by the kindest host who showed us to our daybed. That's right, folks. DAYBED. The patio is decorated with an assortment of daybeds, pillows, heaters and blankets. It was the perfect atmosphere to sit down after walking around all day. (We also got incredibly lucky with perfect weather, especially for it being the end of March). After exploring the menu, my friend and I just couldn't decide what we wanted. Our waitress was kind enough to go through the whole menu and was completely transparent on what we should and shouldn't get. Her recommendations were AMAZING and everything I consumed was perfection. If you go, you MUST get the beef onglet, snails and gilt head bream fillet. The beef was so tender and the fresh, light parsley salad with pomegranates with the bream was a great compliment to the buttery snails, potatoes and bacon dish we ordered. My only complaint with the Boro board we ordered was there wasn't a jam or sweet to pair with the cheeses and meats. (Only a minor complaint, though). There were fireplaces around, which will keep you from being chilly on the outside, and there are blankiesssss, the snuggy one~~~~ that will keep you warm as well. Me and my friend wanted mulled wine, and it was off the menu but they were so kind and they made it specially for us, charing us only 4.5 quids per one, now that was our special price, so it can be "Seafood" price, ( can be varied depends on the staff) lol , anyways, we ordered some tapas, the fish one, the lamb one, and the rocket salad with chorizo, I love them all, so if you cannot think of what to order, just go with my choices. Almost every meal we had in Europe was amazing, but Boro Bistro is one of the ones that I must find again when we return. We had tons and tons of tapas on our trip and Boro Bistro was no exception. Tucked under a bridge and a little hard to find, Boro had an authentic, eclectic London feel to it. The four of us shared a bottle of wine (or maybe 2) and must have tried 16 or so tapas between us. We loved everything. From healthy grain-based dishes, to succulent meats and creamy sides to an out of this world crumble dessert, this was one of the best meals of our trip. read more

I am so glad I stumbled upon this little gem! What a quaint, tucked away find that offers outdoor seating next to a beautiful church. My Californian-self opted for indoor given it was early November and was pleasantly surprised to find an awesome indoor decor as well. They are going for a rustic almost French feel that is really inviting and warm. Food is sharing style as that appears to be their tenant - try it all, share if you like... or not. Dining here by myself on a work trip, I found three dishes to hit the spot well. The sausage and hamhock was my favorite out of the trio. Wine list had some good options on it. Didn't make it around to beer, but to my keen unique beer eye there were plenty to satisfy the beer connoisseur in the crowd. Great option for date night to get cozy under the heaters outside or a spot to melt away in the corner if you just want to unwind a bit. I'll be coming back for sure! read more

My friend and I attended this lovely bistro last night and it was fantastic. The staff were particularly a highlight. Anton, our waiter, was super friendly and the team helping him were really cool and such a happy bunch. The manager Dimitri really made us feel special throughout our stay. Thank you to them all. It was almost fully booked and we managed to get the last table inside, so I suggest you book to avoid disappointment. But there is outside seating. We only went for drinks, but the food being delivered to other tables looked and smelled delicious and made me feel like I was in a genuine French Bistro. Woah! What a complete hazard led us there and what a great discovery. A friend of mine was visiting from France and after walking along the Thames I noticed it down some stairs by London Bridge, and a bit hungry and tired, happy the sun was back, we decided to give it a go. After a few minutes on the terrace looking for our perfect spot, a waiter starts engaging us in french. Next thing you know, it turns out almost all of them are. A quick look at the menu: we're at home! Nothing says more french than some selected wines, croque-monsieur and saucisson boards. I had the croque-monsieur and we drank sauvignon. The meal was êrfect, absolutely tasty, good choice of bread and cheese: c'est oui. The wine was good too. The place on itself is out of the ordinary. The terrace is huge and filled with a mix of eclectic furniture. There are some kind of couches scattered all around and I loved it. We moved to the first available as soon as we could! Inside, you can admire their collection of cheeses and saucisson and then go down to the restroom and enter the 4th dimension. It's very decorated, very mad, very funny and we loved it. There's also cool music playing and we admitted later to each other that we both did our journey to the toilets dancing on that boogie haha. This bar is perfect. Right next to boro market is hidden by the bridge. You can sit outside where they have couches, pillows, blankets and fire lamps to keep you cozy. We didn't eat anything but were told the burgers are amazing. The food looked wonderful. I can say that the drinks were amazing. We were getting their version of a hot toddy, just ask for Jamison. This place is awesome. I loved it. Great outdoors area and a stunning interior. The staff are super friendly and attentive (and hot). Food options are varied and delicious. Perhaps some items were not the cheapest but totally worth it. I found it quite hard to find but my phones battery died and I struggle with directions at the best of times. My only complaint would be that the onglet dish came out really quite tough. It was ordered medium rare but was super chewy/hard to cut through. Other than that, no complaints at all. I was pleasantly surprised by this little charmer hidden beneath the bridge. It has a French or maybe French Algerian vibe going on. It's actually open on Mondays now, which is probably not well known so we practically had the place to ourselves. Dishes are mainly geared toward sharing. I don't want to write about this place. Right now, this is a well kept secret in the otherwise overcrowded, super busy, super touristy London Bridge area. But I can't help myself. This is place is super cosy on the inside, and the decorations are hilarious. I highly recommend a trip to the rest rooms, it's like being in a Curio Parlour. The food here is excellent; good value, basic French bistro food. Lot's of vegetarian options, like the Asparagus with melted cantal cheese. The croque monsieur is delicious; one of the best I've had in London. Their burgers are great (they have a duck burger which is really good). They also have an interesting cocktail list, and prosecco, champagne, wine, etc. Also, very good and friendly service. On a summer day, this place will be great as it has a large terrace. What a wonderful Sunday afternoon experience. It was a little hard to find (think "under the bridge"), but the food and the service was wonderful! We started out with the artichoke hummus. Hummus tends to be somewhat the same everywhere, but not here! It was quite savory, with a seasoning we couldn't quite identify but was quite enjoyable. The fresh French bread was quite yummy. We tried the Croque Monsieur as recommended by another Yelper (a tip of the hat to Louisa F.) and it was delicious. I had the Sautée Chicken thigh in cider with button onions. The cider and button onions made the chicken quite moist and flavorful. The absolute treat, however, was the croustillants were the real treat. We got both the bleu cheese and fig and goat cheese croustillants were simply marvelous! Service was prompt and friendly without being intrusive. We sat inside with the low ceiling and eccelctic decor made us feel as if we were in France. The patio seemed wonderful, but a little cool as were just arrived from Atlanta. :-). All-in-all, a wonderful dining experience and one I would highly recommend! Epilogue: we decided to stay and have dessert, since it was mid afternoon. I had the Blackberry, Chantilly, and hazelnut roulade. One of the best blackberry desserts I've had. Debbie had the Chocolat fondant and deemed it fabulous. Best she's had. We had traditional Pimms, and a plate of cheese (proper choice of cheeses inside), tapenades and bread. The Interior is really cosy and unique. So are the bathrooms! We visited Borro for dinner last night on our way back from a long day in London. I've been wanting to try French and\or Tapas for a while now, and so this prospect really excited me. When we arrived, the first thing we noticed was the seating: there were people strewn about on couches and low chairs, sipping drinks and smoking. But really, it was actually kinda... awesome. We were seated fairly promptly and brought a menu for drinks and for food. The drinks menu was pretty large with lots of beer, wine and cocktail choices. We opted to be somewhat cheap and safe and went with an old favorite: Duvel. For food we ordered the Borro board, which was an assortment of meats, cheeses, spreads, fruits and pickled items and olives. We also ordered the Beef onglet and Frogs legs. The Borro board arrived pretty quick and we started to try the various items on their own, like a curious child wandering into a new place. A little nibble here, a bite there. Nothing on it's own was overly wonderful or offensive. Then we started to combine things: a spread here, some cheese and meat there. Then the flavors started to really pop! With each new combination, we experienced different things. Pleasant things. Savory things. Sweet things. Good things. Somewhere midway through, the beef and frog legs came. The frogs legs were quite good, as was the beef. They were served together, in a salty garlic glaze that kept us coming back for more. When we finished the food, we couldn't quite decide whether to have more or just appreciate the awesomeness we had just experienced. We decide to "stay on 20" rather than go for the possible ace and 21. This was one of the most enjoyable meals I've had in a long time. It took my palate to places that I didn't know existed and satiated some inner culinary desires that I had not been aware of before. As we were preparing to leave we took a quick toilet break. Here's the interesting part: walking down to the toilet, you have to go through a darkly lit basement area, with many melted down candles. It's somewhat spooky feeling and really quite awesome. Then, in the bathrooms themselves, were some erotic\pornographic prints above the urinals and the urinals themselves were hot red lips. I'm not making this up! It sounds weird, but it was awesome! Obviously, I wouldn't advise bringing kids here - but the menu is not really suitable for kids anyways. This was a very cool place, with very good food and when I return to London, I will return here. read more

Attention owners of Boro Bistro.... You need to do whatever is in your power to retain Vincent at your establishment. I am but a traveler through your fine city, but I dine out...a LOT and can tell you that it is truly rare to have someone like Vincent on your staff. The atmosphere you've made, and the food you provide is 4 star worthy for sure. But the staff, in my opinion, is what can so easily make or break a restaurant. This staff member truly exudes care in what he does, is friendly, purposeful, knowledgeable of your offerings, and has that un-quantifiable ability to make you feel at home. We stayed for hours continuing to order just because we felt like we were at a "friends house". I cant speak highly enough about the staff in general, but especially VIncent. Its not common for me to write reviews anymore, but I simply had to in this case because service and personality like his deserve to be recognized. To all other potential patrons here...go...just go. Actually, this is a 4.5 review. My wife and I really enjoyed the bistro. It is located not far from the street food area of the Borough Market. Outside seating is available. Ambiance: charming and funky, with mismatched furniture, ultra-violet lights on the way to the loo. Melted candle wax with a new candle on top decorates every table. I reminded us of the 60s. Service: wonderful, efficient, pleasant. Our server Charlotte was very helpful, took our orders while sitting down next to us. Very personal. We chatted about different topics throughout the lunch. Another server gave us directions ans suggestions to our next destination. Food: French tapas says it all. It was difficult to choose, but we decided on three small plates. All were unique and tasty. The potted duck was similar to pate but not creamy. The duck was mixed with some duck fat. The wild mushrooms on toast was earthy, woodsy and flavorful. Our favorite plate was the snail/sweetbread croquettes. My wife eats neither but loved the croquettes. A wonderful little place in a great location. read more

Loads of amazing bits and bobs to choose from reasonably priced. I can honestly say everything we ordered was yummy.
