I never have high expectations for airport food, no matter what country I'm in. Huxley's is one of the common "good but not great" airport restaurants. Their motto is to get you good airport food in 15 minutes. Unfortunately the day I went, that was not the case. It was a little over 1.5 hrs of total of dining in and that was due to service. We think we came during a shift change and since our "new" server didn't originally start with us, she didn't mind us. We ordered the steak medium rare with an egg & the scrambled eggs with raw salmon. And a mock raspberry monitor and water. Seating was quick, ordered our drinks and food at the same time, everything took awhile to get to us, so we asked how much longer... 1 min later it came out and our food was barely warm. Anyways, server didn't check up on us at all even after sitting for awhile. I'm normally very easy when restaurants are busy and take awhile as long as I see an effort being made to have great customer service, bussing tables, etc. I do recommend trying the food. Airport food is never great, especially with the high prices, usual slow service, and average food even if from a well known chain. Huxley's at the London Heathrow airport was a bit better than average. Giving them 4 stars because we were able to be seated immediately, order quickly, and receive our food within 15 minutes. We all got the Fish and Chips--unlike most of the fish and chips variations I've had, this one was one large piece of fish vs. having 3-4 smaller pieces. The fish was cooked well and the better wasn't too thick! The portion size was good, price on the menu is 14.95 pounds. If I were to come to the airport again, I would probably choose somewhere else. For airport food, this is great! Surprisingly, the prices are the same as any pub restaurant in London. I needed one last UK Fish N Chips before heading back to the US and A. The £13 Fish N Chips was definitely better than most in London, though the chips are average. £4ish a pint, but thats also typical London. Even though it was quite busy, the food came out in about 15-20 minutes. Staff is a bit disorganized, but friendly. I'll definitely go back here if I'm ever stuck in Terminal 5 again. read more

They have typical British food. If you have a few hours to spare and are hungry, this is one of the better options at LHR. Service is a bit better here compared to Gordon Ramsey's but then again, this is a gastropub. Fish and Chips: Beer-battered cod with chips, mushy peas and tartare sauce. No fuss, no non-sense, just straight up fish and fried potatoes on a plate. I didn't bother with the peas since I don't like peas. The fish was lightly battered. I've had oily, fishy and just plain bad versions of this dish but Huxley's version was good. 4/5 Roast Topside of Beef: With Yorkshire pudding, roasted potatoes, carrots, creamed leaks and gravy. I usually come to Huxleys when I'm in Heathrow Airport. service here is top notch - lax enough to give tired travelers space, but attentive / mindful enough for quick service when you're short on time. There are plenty of tables, and no pressure if you're just looking to sit around for a while during a layover. The menu here is traditional British. Think fish and chips, shepherd's pie, full English breakfast, bubble & squeak, etc. The breakfast, fish and chips, and sirloin steak sandwich are all good, though I occasionally opt for the bacon cheeseburger when the mood strikes. Chips (fries) are always fresh if you need a carb boost before / after your flight. It won't be the most amazing meal you've had, but surprisingly decent for airport food (note: also, tastes better than it looks). read more

Huxley's was honestly one of the better airport food I've had and the prices weren't quite as traumatizing as normal airport food is. Because we had a long layover, we ate there for breakfast and for a late lunch/early dinner. The shepherd's pie was great and their salmon and eggs were pretty good as well. Coffee was decent - get the tea instead. My husband got the full English breakfast and he liked it. Service is good - a little on the slower side. It was comforting and and a perfect taste . However I did not like the toast on the side . The toast was a bit too funky for me . I would have preferred just plane bread . The quality of ingredients were very good . As for drinks , they had a pretty wide drink options . I wanted to try a beer but it was a bit too early in the morning for me . Instead I had a tasty glass of prosecco . To be clear I would for sure come back and recommend this lovely little spot to anyone who travels here . 3.5 stars This review is mainly for the berry pavlova dessert. It was our first time to try one. It was crisp on the outside, but marshmallowy and creamy on the inside. It was topped with some nice berries. Definitely a nice treat to have before heading back home. We also ordered fish & chips, and also steak entree. Nothing too exciting - just average. Dang, the first thing I wanted to try in London was Fish and Chips. Maybe choosing an airport wasn't the greatest idea of fulfilling this temptation! The fish and breading were tasteless with exception to the grease dripping off the fish. I had to place a napkin under the fish to collect the grease. However I would never have made the effort if I knew i wasn't going to eat the fish in the end. Ever hear of seasoning? Geesh. Moving on The salad was fresh. Just basic cucumber, tomato and spinach with their oil and vinegar dressing. I tried something called squeaky bubbly that was full of flavor it was chopped up veggies onion, cabbage and spinach maybe with some potatoes. It was good and Im glad I got it. Note that you can just sit at the bar without the need of the waitress. There is usually a free seat or two available and you can order food there. I got a full english and a cup of coffee which came to $17 (about 14 pounds) and it was pretty decent. The portions were massive so bring your appetite and service was quick. This was our breakfast stop. During our layover we chose a big English breakfast and a Fish and chip. The portions are certainly impressive. The fish was fresh, very meaty and the breading was thick yet not greasy. And yes, not like anything stateside. The breakfast had every some impressive size bangers, a good portion of ham. The potato cakes were really good. But food was otherwise ok. It was rather bland for my tastes. Service was quick to begin with. But a server switch at meal delivery slowed things down. Usually airport restaurants aren't anything to write home about, but this place, it was something pretty darn good. We came for breakfast and I have to say we were plenty satisfied! My eggs with bacon and a cabbage and potato hash was something I wouldn't expect coming out of an airport! This spot is right after security so don't head down to gates and think you'll find something downstairs like this, as most things just looked like quick takeaway. The good thing about Huxleys is that once you have ordered your food you can get your bill and pay so once you have eaten, that's it you can just leave. No waiting for someone to recognise that you want to pay the bill and run as you have a flight to catch. The food is nothing spectacular but it is very functional as if you are there at silly O'Clock it gives you the start you need for the journey ahead. If you have more time you can sit at the bar and relax a bit more, if that is your thing! The staff were attentive enough and the time it takes your food to arrive is good so non of that sweating about will you have enough time to eat and catch your flight. So whilst there are slightly cheaper options to eat at in terminal 5 I think for what yo pay this place is worth it. read more

I chose to spend my layover time here, for a full English breakfast, rather than shop (I should've just shopped). The hostess sat me at the high tables, where other customers were. The waitress assigned to the area ignored me for over 15 mins. A gentleman was sat in the same area and somehow he was serviced with no delay. After making eye contact with the hostess, she kindly took my order (which is why I gave 2 stars). We were tempted to get up and leave without paying. Does that say enough? It wasn't that the food was that terrible - though our breakfasts were pretty sub-bar - it was the wait. The incredible, excessive wait while several members of staff repeatedly walked by and ignored us again and again. The wait for initial service and then the subsequent food was extended but not a huge deal. It was the wait once we had finished our meals. We sat with our (finished) plates for so long that I finally got fed up and deposited them on an empty neighboring table. This resulted in the plates being cleared from that table, but still no joy in getting anyone's attention in order to get our bill.
