Our server was very pleasant and efficient. They aim to deliver your food within 15 minutes and it happened. My glass of Peroni hit the spot, and the Indo-Coco Curry bowl (under Bowls for the Soul) was a perfect combo of potato and chickpea curry with rice, and a side of naan. Delicious. read more

Terminal 5 is pretty busy at Heathrow. It is teaming with high end shops, dining, pop-up events and aorport traffic. After arriving at Heathrow, I was looking for a place to eat. Gordon Ramsay and Waggama along with several other restaurants had extremely long lines. I decided to check out Giraffe Grill. They offered a variety of meals from acrossbthe world. I thought it was a pretty cool concept and line there was much shorter. It took 20 minutes or so to get a table. The wait staff did maintain consistent communications with those waiting in line to be seated. Once seated, inwas informed it would be another 30 minutes before I received my food. It actually took about 15 minutes before my order arrived at table. The staff were pretty happy and engaging. I can't say the last time I saw a wait staff happy to be at work. I ordered the Rodeo Chicken, Naked. It was really good. I thought I could finish it but it did me in. The price was reasonable for the meal and the experience was relaxing. I definitely recommend this location if you find yourself in T5. read more

While changing planes in Heathrow, we had time to kill and shopped around for a restaurant, we wanted a decent place to have lunch at. Giraffe seemed more fun, had a variety of dishes on the menu and prices seemed lower than the other restaurants/pubs in Terminal 5. We got a nice table and the service started slow, but it got better, the server was a pleasant girl. Unfortunately they didn't have British beers on draft, that was disappointed, so we had to settle for a pint of Stella Artois, decent, but not that exciting. The menu had American dishes- hamburgers, wings, onion rings, also some more Indian inspired dishes, some Moroccan ones. We wanted to try their fish and chips. When in London... The dish was good, fries a bit soggy. We satisfied a curiosity and had mushy peas for the first time (just ok). Food was decent, big portions, but it's airport food after all, nothing amazing, prices OK. A nice break in the action for us. Cute decor and a decent bar if you want to sip on a cocktail. I really enjoyed my food here. Visited on a Tuesday at 11:30am and it wasn't crowded at all. The atmosphere and music was really nice too. I got a chicken sandwich with mushroom, tomato, and fried onions (and left off the bacon). The flavor was sooooo good. Also, the sweet potato fries were really good. A pretty diverse menu they've got going on. Pretty good service, also. The wait staff carries with them their own handheld credit card reader, so your bill is presented to you, you pay her/him, and if it's a credit card, they swipe/sign/receipt all at that exact moment. I got their falafel burger. Less herbs/spices would have been better, as to taste the components better. But, that's a personal preference, as I know falafel in general is spiced/seasoned to a certain extent. I do reeeeally wish the fresh beet strips were a bit more flavorful, but hey it's good to wish. A very busy restaurant in Heathrow. As a solo traveler, I asked to sit at the bar and avoided the line. The barstools are quite uncomfortable, so be prepared. I ordered a drink and salad. Food came out relatively quickly. The drink was standard, but good. It a really large goblet time glass, which was a bit unusual for the old man drink I ordered, but whatever. Bartender was nice. Busy and disinterested. Just the way I like it. (Unfortunately I sat next to an all too talkative weirdo which ruined the vibe.) Food was ok. Nothing special. Tasted fine. I wont complain. Probably spent too much money, but I don't really pay attention to that when I'm flying long-hauls. I ate, checked my phone, took in the busyness that is Heathrow, paid, and went on my way. The place is loud and a little on the chaotic side, but they run things fairly smoothly considering the high volume of people they push through. We decided on this place because it appeared to have healthy dining options. We were seated right away and minutes later our order was taken. We ordered the haloumi souvlaki with edamame and mint salad, the San Fran greens salads and the chicken curry. All of our dishes were healthy enough and came quick and the bill wasn't astronomically high. Do know: You can order fast and eat fast. I should have really known better when I saw that one of the advertised aspects of this restaurant was getting food out to people in under 10 minutes. Certainly admirable, but with the complexity of some of the dishes, not doable if you want a good meal. I got one their smoothies, which came out already separated and warm. Considering it was the top smoothie - and one with only three ingredients - we weren't off to a great start. My husband got their teriyaki bowl and I saw it came with the same breaded chicken they use for other meals, which is smart in terms of time conservation, but not great for living up to what chicken teriyaki is or should be. The rice was microwave rice and still hard in a lot of spots. I got one of their flatbread pizzas. It comes topped with whatever passes for marinara there - some sweet tomato paste that's topped with barely-warmed mozzarella nuggets and seasoned sparsely. I feel like the food here just gets slapped on a conveyer belt a la the episode of I Love Lucy. To top things off, we saw that they had a "pay online" option, so - because our server had disappeared and not come back - we opted for that. We paid, tipped, and gathered our bags. As we were crossing the threshold to the restaurant, our server comes running towards us yelling at us to stop, asking if we've paid. ... dude. The option to pay online is right on the table. How awful to loudly embarrass people who took the option YOU presented! With everyone in the near proximity staring as us, we said we had, he checked his iPhone to be sure, then smiles and tells us we're "good to go". No sh*t, dude! Way to make a scene! Awful. Horrible experience. We waited for more than 10 minutes for a server to come take our order. Saw drinks sitting on the bar for more than 5 minutes before anyone brought them to us. Never saw our server again. Had to flag down someone to get my daughter the vegetables she ordered. Per Heathrow promotion, kids were supposed to eat free. They said it already ended (it didn't) and they wouldn't honor it. Kids pasta also was horrible - way over cooked and tasted worse than canned. Somehow I always find myself gravitating towards Giraffe when I'm in T5. It's not particularly outstanding, the portions are small and in line with other airport eateries it is way overpriced. But they do have a good choice of veggie breakfast options, which is just the job when you've just come off a transatlantic flight. I am particularly fond of the veggie brunch with sourdough toast or the scrambled egg and smoked salmon bagel. Although usually quite busy, the staff are quite attentive and they always seem to manage to find a table pretty quickly. It's not going to win any awards for its cuisine, but it's good comfort food and sometimes that's just what you want after you've struggled through security. Whimsical decorations and cute and enticing names for drinks and food drew us in. The restaurant is packed. Service is slow. But, with so many people it's gotta be good..right? Nope. "Asian Style House Soup" was suoer salty. Salty and not much of any other flavor. Spaghetti and Meatball was thumbs down per the little one. ~Drinks Are Good! The drinks saved the day. We stopped by here for a breakfast. As it is an airport location, prices are high and quantity of food isn't as big as you'd maybe like it to be. Fairly quick on the service when we came through and we got what we wanted. My daughter ordered the breakfast burrito item which came out looking more like a pizza with the way the chorizo was sliced. Kind of funny, and the salsa was really a pico instead. I ordered the toast and butter and it comes triangle cut with three pieces, hmmm, who got my other 1/2 slice? As an American and having been using the Euro that's roughly at parity, the pricing is of course in Pounds Sterling. that isn't at parity, so the prices looked super reasonable, Ha, $30 for breakfast for 2. Well, not that great really. I know it's an airport, and the service was okay, the food was a let down. We had halloumi skewers on pea and mint bed/salad. The halloumi was wayyyy too salty (and I love salt!!), and the mint in the pea salad was so strong I couldn't taste the peas. I had a banh mi sandwich, which, really was bizarre and missing some of the ingredients so it tasted a bit lopsided with the flavours. Chicken was a bit cheap in it too. Hubby had the burger and it was well over cooked, tasteless, the chips were cold and just meh all round. We've come to know and love Giraffe after living a few years in London and then having to make a connection through London back home to the states. It always has consistently great food. The Huevos Rancheros recently were freaking delicious- and a nice big portion. We've also had some of their fresh juices and avocado toast. We missed our connection at Heathrow and had a few hours to kill. Hungry and tired, we headed to Giraffe, which used to be an establishment I frequented back in the days when I worked in London. They obliged us by seating us at a corner away from the noisy crowd, and we sank our weary jet-lagged bodies into our booth! Perhaps it was because we were tucked away in a corner, perhaps it was because they were so busy, either way it took a good twenty minutes before someone stopped by to take our order. But the atmosphere at this restaurant is so airy, fun and cheerful, I had no trouble entertaining our two girls, especially once they discovered the area with the three tall giraffes! And I must compliment the staff and patrons for their tolerance as my littlest one ran around exploring and adjusting to a strange new place, bumping into quite a few people and tables in the process. When our server - Joanna - finally showed up, she more than made up for the delay through her charm and attentiveness. And yes, our extensive order arrived within the "guaranteed" fifteen minutes. The quality of the food, I must confess, was inconsistent. My Croque Giraffe (with fried egg) was outstanding, and the smoked salmon that I ordered with my scrambled eggs was tender and moist. Cappuccinos were good, and we enjoyed the Orchard Pig ciders we ordered. The rest of the meal, however, was just so-so. My daughter picked at her banana-berry pancakes and my wife found her focaccia dry and the scrambled eggs mediocre. Final Verdict: Great option for a family meal if you find yourself in Terminal 5, provided you order properly and have a lot of time to kill. read more

Perfect spot to grab some delicious food before your flight out of Heathrow! They have quite a bit of space however it can get pretty filled quickly. My go to here is the full English breakfast! The portion is perfect and it comes with breakfast spuds as well as toast and two sausages. I love the British style breakfast sausage and bacon so I was a very satisfied patron here! Run away! Run away! Got seated and apparently became invisible as I was promptly ignored. Twice flagged down a server and finally had to beg someone to take my order. Long wait and shouldn't have bothered as the burger was so overcooked that vultures were circling the table. The gluten free bun is also taste free. We found this place, because its right in your face! Right after the security check in, on the second floor, is this restaurant. its a very busy location with lots of people coming here. we were seated rather promptly and menus came just as quickly. We placed our orders and the food came pretty quickly. They had forgotten to provide us with a full set of silverware.. like forks! The food was only OK, not great, then again, it was breakfast at the airport and a bit cold, till we got our forks. They did hold up that the end of the deal but what they didn't mention is that we waited for twenty minutes to get our order taken. I ordered the fish and chips. Fish was great with the malt vinegar. Fries were cold and squishy. My dining mate ordered a burger and fries and her fries were piping hot , crispy, and delicious. We went ahead and paid At the table at the same time we ordered since it took so long to get service to our table . Service was bad and the food was mediocre. There is NO space. You have to slide tables around to get into the table they seat you at . There's barely two inches between each table so you can't slide through . You have to ask the people already sitting and eating to please stand up and let you by. Worst food and service ever! We had over an hour before our flight and thought to give Gurafee a try because they claim they'll have your food ready within 11 minutes. Our hostess had us circle the restaurant looking for an open table. We had to wave down our server to take our order and when the food came out over a half hour later, our order was wrong. The food was disgusting. The hamburger was overcooked and the pizza looked and tasted a child's attempt to cook pizza for the first time. We narrowly avoided missing our flight. This is a fine place to get a bite to eat - portions are small, prices are appropriately inflated for the airport, and the food comes quickly. I've had far worse and more expensive food at airports, especially at Heathrow, so I can't complain too much about this place. The tables feel like they are on top of each other, but it's manageable. They promise the food to come within 15 min, which is good because I'd rather duty free shop at LHR than wait an hour for my food and check. After binging on bread and cheese in France, I opted for a salad, the San Fran salad. (P.S. Nobody in San Francisco calls the city San Fran) This salad for £9 had spinach, pomegranate seeds, radish, carrots, beets, almonds and pistachio. I added chicken for £2 which was about 3-4 small strips of chicken. I enjoyed the salad, it had a tad too much dressing so next time I'd probably get the dressing on the side, but I liked it nonetheless. Tasty and healthy. I also liked that they served you tap water for free, which is an added bonus over grabbing a salad at a grab and go place. I'd come here again for a quick bite to eat that is affordable. Eating here for our lunch was simply a comedy of errors, and left me hungry and keen to leave as soon as possible. I arrived and joined my group of Yelp Community Manager travel-mates at a table for 5. A nice table with a good view but placed too close to the nearby tables so my seat would get jostled every now and then. I looked over the menu and ordered the scrambled eggs with salmon, and a bowl of sweet potato fries. There'd been a mix up with another order, and when my plate was delivered I suspected it was the mis-order from a good 10-15 minutes earlier. The eggs were rubbery and flavourless, to the point they were inedible. So I just ate the salmon (passable) and the sweet potato fries (fine). The staff seemed confused and bewildered - straightforward orders seemed like they were really challenging. I know it's airport dining and that you can't expect much, but on this occasion this was a real mess and I wouldn't even contemplate returning to this location when I'm in T5. read more

I didn't know there was a way to make a really bad burger, but this place figured it out. Was on a long layover at Heathrow, so my wife and I just wanted to grab a bite before our next flight. I can only speak for the burgers (because the fries were actually good) but I will avoid this place in the future. The burgers are just...almost...tasteless. I didn't know that was possible. I absolutely loved this place. After dealing with the torture of making a connection in Heathrow (why is it so hard to do here!) Giraffe is an oasis where you can happily recover. Their menu is a diverse collection of western food, but seems to lean somewhat toward American Southwest. I had an excellent Huevos Rancheros, and they also made me a great latte. These combined with the free wifi made this a wonderful place to spend some layover time before I had to run off to my next flight. The menu also includes a whole set of smoothies and great snack options if you aren't quite in the mood for a full meal. The service was quick and very attentive, even though they were absolutely overrun when I was there! Another great thing about this place is the view. Catching my flight to NYC decided to stop here for lunch and a drink. Got seated and asked for a drinks menu, the waitress was like "oh its in the menu" pointed to the beers and cider and I was like no, i can see people drinking cocktails, she just walked off in a huff! Managed to find a cocktails menu, yeh they're ok, decent priced, nothing special, pretty much standard, this is giraffe after all. Their food menu is pretty vast, but as I was travelling on a plane for 7/8 hours, I needed something light, opted for the Chicken, Spiced King Prawn & Mango Salad - grilled spiced prawns & chicken breast, mixed leaves, cucumber, radish, green onion, avocado, mango & chopped brazil nuts with tequila-lime dressing. So yum, refreshing, tangy, perfectly cooked slices of chicken and the prawns drenched in the tequila lime dressing, went well with my frozen magarita. Would recommend to anyone wanting a quick, simple meal. Don't count too much on the service though. read more
