Best meal I had in London ever - the foie gras crème brûlée was to die for
    Sallie D.

The best meal I have had in London out of all the times I visited. The duck and waffle is perfection and the foie gras crème brûlée is to die for. Prices are reasonable. Views are nice. Open 24 hours. What more can you ask for.

food: best meal in London 2025 trip, duck and waffle was a nice spin on chicken and waffle, executed well, the pasta was also made perfectly Service: the staff was super nice and were willing to give out small desserts for occasions Ambiance: one of the best perks of this restaurant, very romantic and enjoying a great view of the city

Ahh Duck and Waffle. Nothing screams "I'm cool" quite like naming your restaurant after the dish you want everyone to order. Bit on the nose, but I respect the commitment. Perched 40 floors up, this spot offers views for days. You feel like you're having dinner in the clouds or at least in a Bond villain's penthouse. Me and my brother rocked up without a reservation, which was a gamble. The kind of gamble that got us gently escorted to the bar like two lads who just wandered in off the street. Now I'm no stranger to a cold shoulder, but they really leaned into it. Treated like third-class passengers on a ship full of influencers and finance bros. No comfy booth. Just two stools and a reminder that spontaneity has consequences. Still, I'll give credit where it's due. The bar staff picked up the slack. Friendly, efficient, never let our glasses get lonely. We ordered food, and no surprise here, I went with the duck and waffle. It delivered. Crispy duck laid over a fluffy waffle with just enough sweet drizzle to make you raise an eyebrow and smile. Worth every bite. My brother went for the lobster roll. He's used to the warm, buttery kind you find in Maryland. This one came out cold. Not cool. Cold. Still tasted alright but he looked like someone handed him an ice cream sandwich when he asked for a steak. To sum it up, Duck and Waffle has style, but only if you're on the list. Without a reservation, expect a touch of humility before the luxury. The food made up for it in the end, but next time, I'll plan ahead or at least wear a nicer watch.

We stopped by around 9pm on a Saturday night. Even though we had a reservation, we still waited a few minutes for our table. There's a little bar area where you can grab a drink while you wait, but our table was ready before we could even make a choice. We lucked out with a great spot by the window facing east--perfect view of the Gherkin, Tower Bridge, and the Tower of London. For a summer night, it was amazing to watch the city shift from day to night. Our waitress was super helpful and walked us through how the menu works. We were excited to hear everything is freshly made, and we loved watching the kitchen crew in action. To start, we had the bacon-wrapped dates--absolutely delicious. For mains, we ordered the roasted lamb and the signature duck and waffle. The duck and waffle was a standout--a fun, elevated twist on the classic chicken and waffles. The maple mustard was *so* good. For dessert, my husband had the sticky toffee pudding and I went with the Biscoff cheesecake. Oh my gosh--it was incredible. I seriously wanted to lick the plate. My husband had a glass of wine, and I got the waffle mocktail, which honestly tasted just like a waffle in a glass. Overall, it was a great experience, and we'd love to come back. Bonus points for being open 24 hours--it's nice to know you can pop in for a late-night bite. Just a heads-up: the late-night menu kicks in at midnight and is different from the regular one.

Came here solo because I had a few days to myself while in London and was excited to try this place. I had a reservation, took the long elevator ride up (which has a view of the city while you're on it), and got to the top which had a little bar and huge windows for viewing the city. I waited there for a moment until someone got me and took me to my table. There was a pause on the way to the table where the person leading me was talking to someone over their earpiece. Slightly awkward because it seemed like they were deciding where to put me (probably as a solo diner). But either way, I was eventually seated by the window. All the tables offer a great view of the city (some have slightly nicer scenery but overall all have a good view). I had to, of course, order the duck and waffle and I got some hot tea to go with it. Everything came out extremely fast. The food is really delicious and it's what they specialize in so I'd expect great quality. The duck is super crispy yet tender and juicy inside. The waffle is good but nothing special - could be crispier on the outside. It's also only a half waffle but it's such a filling dish I don't think it needs to be bigger. The egg is good too I just wish it was possible to change the preparation but since it's their speciality there are no modifications. Overall I would recommend but for groups or couples. It's very loud and not super comfy so for solo dining it wasn't my favorite spot, but definitely worth trying if you're in London and want a higher end brunch. They're also open 24 hours with slightly different menu options available for early breakfast and late night.

Great food. Duck was crispy and went well with the waffle in a funny play on the classic meal. The French toast was my favorite though--soft and with an amazing custard on top. View from the 40th floor is of course beautiful, although the elevator ride is a bit scary with tie glass windows. Somehow still pretty busy at Friday ~ 12 AM, but we didn't need reservations.

Uniqueness: Signature Duck & Waffle dish with incredible city views Wait Time: *** (Can be a wait without a reservation) Food Quality: ***** (Delicious, especially the signature dish) Service: *** (Good overall, but birthday dessert was tiny) Setting: ***** (Amazing views, stylish bar) Cost: *** (Pricy, but worth it for the experience) Duck & Waffle is a must-visit for the views alone, but the food holds its own too. Their signature duck & waffle dish is fantastic--crispy, savory, and just the right amount of indulgent. The bar is stylish, adding to the upscale experience. There was a bit of a wait since we didn't have a reservation, but that's expected at a place like this. Went for my birthday and got a tiny dessert, which felt underwhelming, but otherwise, the experience was great. Definitely worth a visit!

I went to London for the very first time this November and while I was there, I went to duck and waffle twice My first time was night one when I could not sleep due to the time difference from LA to London I knew duck and waffle was a 24 hour eatery and I decided to check it out With no reservation and it being two in the morning, I took a stroll and asked the hostess. If she could see me she said it would've been a 10 minute wait and showed me to the bar. Shortly after the host took me to my table the place was beautifully decorated for Christmas. The views were immaculate being 40 feet up while most of London slept. My first time there, I was limited to their late night menu given that it was two in the morning, so all their options were available I ordered the date, the cheesy polenta the crème brûlée Frois gras, Colombian eggs, which I ended up taking to go and their plum crumble dessert Even for it being their late night, menu quality was immaculate. Taste was amazing and it became my new hyper fixation that I couldn't wait to go back. For my last meal, I went here for lunch, which was a little bit more difficult to get a reservation prior I attempted to book online with no avail and then it ended up calling their number to speak to somebody and get a 1 PM reservation I showed up a bit early and they were able to accommodate my seats 30 minutes before my reservation time which was nice this time because I showed up during the daytime. My menu options weren't limited. Given it was my first of the day and last meal in London, I was able to order a bit more than I normally would have I ordered their cappuccino. They're non-alcoholic cherry velvet drizzle drink, of course the date. I also ordered their octopus and their pork belly. Again, no complaints. Everything was delicious. I was so sad to be leaving London and not have duck and waffle so I opted to purchase their cookbook for both myself and a friend of mine who is in the culinary industry. I cannot recommend duck and waffle enough.

Very beautiful space that's on the 40th floor. We came here around 5:30 am due to jet lag and we were told we needed reservations because they were still prepping food. We responded that online it says they are open 24 hours 7 days a week. The guy told us to come back at 6:10/6:15 am, so we walked around Liverpool station across the street. It was a bit annoying but what are you going to do. We went up the elevators and it's a straight shot up to the 40th floor with plenty of glass and views. We were greeted by a friendly hostess and talked about his recent trip to California. We ordered a fresh orange juice, the Colombian eggs, duck and waffle, a side of hash browns, and the matcha latte. It was weird because the matcha latte was listed under coffee, and when we asked the waiter she said there was coffee in it and matcha powder and that there must be coffee in it because it was listed under coffee. When we received it, there was definitely no coffee in the drink. The hash browns were very salty and the avocado toast was basic with some like in the avocado. The columbian eggs had really good flavor though. And the duck and waffle was good with solid taste though it was on the saltier side and there was only half a waffle with the entire meal. Considering the price, there could be some improvements.

Truly enjoyed the spectacular view from the restaurant located on the 40th floor! We celebrated our anniversary at this beautiful restaurant which is very accessible by public transportation. It has its own elevator going up directly to its floor and the ride was fun and quick. We went in mid-November and the Christmas decorations made it extra romantic. We got lucky to be seated immediately without reservation since it was a very late lunch/early dinner. When we left, the restaurant was filled up with people having dinners or drinks by the bar. Would recommend making reservations since the restaurant isn't huge. Note that it is open 24/7 which is a bonus! Service was quick and attentive! Food was great. The duck was crispy. We got to see the city from daylight to night which was perfect. Would highly recommend this restaurant especially if you are visiting London the first time and/or celebrating a special occasion.

Came here for lunch with my friends and had an absolutely amazing meal. The service was fantastic- everyone was so friendly and helpful throughout our meal. The views from the restaurant were so beautiful - you could see much of the city and looks out towards the water. The restaurant itself is also very clean and nicely decorated - perfect for date night or just some sort of fancy dinner. The food and drinks were all delicious! I would highly recommend the Foie Gras Crème Brulee and the Caramelized Banana Waffles. They were absolute treats to die for. The house bread is also worth a try and the beef tartar was very well seasoned. The famous Duck and Waffle did not disappoint!! I would highly recommend their cocktails and mocktails - we asked the server for recommendations and all got drinks that we loved! Would highly recommend for a nicer, fancier meal out!!

First time staying in London, and we were tired of just getting hotel breakfast every morning. My friend looked up this spot through google, and we decided to go, which was the best decision to make! It's in a cool building downtown on the 40th floor, with an amazing view of the city all around! The food was outstanding!! I had the Duck & Waffle with maple mustard syrup, with a side of fancy hash browns. The duck was cooked to perfection, crisp and rich all at the same time, with a perfectly sized fluffy half waffle to pair it with. I would definitely come back here to try everything else, as well as take in the views and the casual ambience

I loved my meal- the flavors were perfect and I ate every drop. The menu is short and simple and you can tell it's one of those places which does everything well. The only downside is that I wish the portion size was bigger. I was one person and ate everything in the pictures attached- although I'm American and probably eat too much! The restaurant was kind enough to do a half size of the pasta to fill me up which was great to sample a bit of everything. It was al cooked perfectly and the spacing between dishes was great. The atmosphere is relaxing and super friendly. There were two huge groups of 10+ and the staff was quick to strike up conversations with their guests and to check in. I happened to have breakfast included and the nice thing was that you cook receive one cooked item from the menu which was so nice. The only downside was that you could not substitute a cooked item for a smoothie and the smoothie was the smallest thing ever with the biggest ice cubes so definitely not worth it. Otherwise, definitely check this place out!!

I think of it as Viajante-level cooking taken off steroids. Innovative combinations but faultlessly executed, not to mention at a fraction of the price. My favourites include grilled squid with romesco, seabass ceviche and most importantly the Iberico pork with "bread pudding". Words cannot describe how delicious the bread pudding is - I can only imagine that A TON of butter went into making it. Chunks of soft buttery bread stewed in a tangy tomato sauce. Ahhh. Go early if you don't want to queue, or make it a late lunch. Be sure to order the pork/bread pudding dish - you can thank me later.

I know, there have been rave reviews on a number of sites - I know. I saw them too. But what could possibly top the Corner Room? After last week's visit to the Typing Room, I will never doubt another restaurant decision made in this venue (and I hope there are many more!). You have to go to Typing Room. Right now. I don't even know where to start. There is a set menu, of course, but this apparently varies by the day. We went with a vegetarian friend, so if that is you - you will also feel the love. To begin, the set menu (whether you go for 5 or 7 dishes) all includes a group of "snacks". After a couple drinks at the bar and rearing to see the menu, I can't tell you how excited I was to have food arriving at the table without even having to think. And all of it...was just. so. good. And the bread. I'll be honest - I'm hit or miss with bread - sometimes it looks pretty good and it's still warm and a restaurant has some special sort of butter so I'm all over it. Other times it looks like it's been sitting in a corner of the kitchen for the past week. At Typing Room, the bread was a course in and of itself. I'm not kidding. Two types of bread with two types of delish buttery, chutney, goodness. More bread. PLEASE. By the time we got to the smoke deer roe, I didn't think I could possibly have another bite. But I had too - because the remaining two courses were too good to be missed. Service: Literally some of the best I've ever had in London. Everyone was so super friendly and knowledgeable about each dish. We never felt rushed and each course was given time to settle in. I can't rave about this place enough. 5 stars.

Not so with Typing room. We had the 7 course lunch and skipped the pairing in favour of a couple of glasses of wine. Setting is similar with the restaurant on the left with very open kitchen when you walk into town hall and a bar to the right. Chef was on premise supervising the kitchen which was nice to see for a weekday lunch. Lots of Beatles and classic rock playing which I enjoyed although one of the other patrons kept complaining about. Certainly didn't interfere with conversation. On to the food the starter you pick from 4 snacks. We had the basil profiterole which was ok but the star was the smoked eel. Then can crab and pea dish followed by cauliflower which were both amazing. The raw beef was topped with what looked like granola and neither of us liked that dish. Too sweet and needed an acid to bring out the flavour of the tartare. The fish course following was also a 5 star. Then the lamb which also was good but have had better. Confit belly was nice but the yogurt didn't add anything and the onions were over charred. Desert started with almond foam and lemon sorbet which was a great palette cleanser and then a very interesting chocolate dessert. Cake almost looks dried out but is the texture of freeze dried chocolate mouse. Very tasty. Overall a couple of misses in execution more than design that I'm sure won't take long to correct. I'd expect this place to get a Michelin star in the near future. The star dishes were well worth coming back for.

I walked over and made it just in the nick of time, before their last seating. The flavours were rich, and well balanced. The squash especially was very well done. On the downside, I found the atmosphere a little lacking- though it was interesting to be looking into office cubicles. I haven't experienced that before. The real reason for the three stars however is our waitress dropped our bottle of wine while pouring, smashing the glass she was pouring into, and spilling wine and broken glass everywhere. Being two Canadians we were very polite about it (eh), but I admit I was very disappointed when there were no reparations were made. Not only was a big mess made, with wine spilling on my friend, but we lost at least an entire glass of wine. I do feel that there should have at the very least been a fresh glass of wine brought to make up for the spilled one, or a free dessert offered, or a discount given on the (not inexpensive) bottle of wine we ordered. I had the tomato salad which was lovely, followed by some octopus peach combo that was really nice, and a great plate of grilled sardines. The atmosphere is lovely and the only reason I'm dropping a star is the service could have been faster (it wasn't always the smiley waitress serving us) and the bench seat, although really cool to look at, isn't very comfortable to sit on for any period of time spanning a dinner.

From afar, the restaurant looks like a very humble corner-of-the-block restaurant in a somewhat local area, but once you are inside, you can appreciate the minimalistic chic decor. There is a lively yet still intimate atmosphere inside. I would recommend getting a reservation at peak hours since the tables were all filled. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The service speed is also quick. Overall, I do think that the food was slightly overpriced for the portion sizes, however they were indeed good. Plus, with a nice environment and friendly staff, Brawn deserves at least a solid 4 stars.

Such a cozy place. We enjoyed it very much…read more Charcuterie £20 - you can see how fatty those slices in the picture. I've seen pictures that looks like it's pure fat. It's rich and melt in your mouth. Pair great with our red wine that's slightly sweet but I would dare to get a second slice. Lucky 4 of us shared Oyster £4 each - small but very refreshing. Doesn't wow us but it's was good Baccala £12 - fish in a paste form with cheese cracker/cake on the side. It sounded weird but think of it like tuna salad on a salty cracker but a more sophisticated taste. A bit too salty tho Mozzarella £17 - the leafy greens on the sound was very interesting and gave the fish a new dimension. Very refreshing. Crab £18 - such a small portion. The crab has very mild taste so amongst all the salty dishes, this doesn't stand out that much. But you can taste the quality of the ingredients. Clams £17 - yummy. Cooked in a tomato-y sauce with some barley type of grains. Still on the more salty side but still manageable Angolotti £15 - small ravioli with meat stuff in the inside. Feels like a wonton soup to me but really really really salty. If it's not that salty, I think we would have loved it. Pappardelle £22 - typical ragu pasta dish. Tasty. Black pudding with squid £29 - star of the show. Absolutely delicious. Bit pricey for the portion tho. Lamb neck £32 - yummy yummy. Slightly pink on the inside. Our waitstaff was great but the wine guy was not helpful at all.
