First time trying British food in London, and it did not disappoint! rich sausages with plenty of options for mash. The pie was also generous in meat portion and a must try. I was so happy they had a sticky toffee pudding. It was not too sweet and overwhelming. This came with custard and vanilla ice cream.

Bangers and mash is a MUST TRY when you're visiting the UK! This was the best classic London comfort and I'm still thinking about it. The sausages were flavorful and juicy, the mash was unbelievably smooth and creamy, and the gravy tied everything together like a warm hug on a plate. You choose your mash, your main (sausage), and gravy. I went with classic/traditional for everything and it was delish! There are also vegetarian and vegan options as well. The service was just as impressive. We sat down right when they opened and it got so quickly busy! The staff were welcoming, attentive, and genuinely kind without ever feeling rush or scripted. Even during a busy time, they made sure everything was spot-on and checked in with perfect timing. It felt like they really cared about the experience. If you're in London and want something delicious, comforting, and authentically English, you have to stop by. Mother Mash is officially on my must return list!

We booked a table for lunch earlier in the morning and the dining room was half full already, with a steady incoming flow. Bangers and mash is another comforting meal I can have on a regular basis. My husband tried the vegan options - which he enjoyed, and I tried the horseradish mash, sausage, traditional mince meat, with the traditional gravy. The sausage was dry due to being overcooked, but I liked the flavors - it reminded me of a good breakfast sausage that was savory with a hint of sweetness. The creamy horseradish was placed on the side of the mashed potatoes and I inadvertently took a big bite of horseradish and no potatoes. The bite was pleasantly potent and super creamy. When it was mixed together with the minced meat, it was pretty close to creating a perfect bite. For me, I was missing some peas and carrots maybe. :) I enjoyed my food and if I'm ever back in the area, I would eat here again.

Great food, nice casual atmosphere, funny and engaging servers. This is an all around gem to experience if you happen to be in the area. Can make a reservation, but if you don't they'll still try to accommodate you. Just may have to wait a bit.

Excellent, excellent, EXCELLENT! This is not complex food, it is simple and done quite well. For under 20 GBP you will get full. They specialize in bangers and mash and also meat pies. I suggest try a sausage flavor you've never experienced, they are all good. Small location but they usually can get you in within minutes, even on a busy night. I found that waiting in the front for the host is desired (you might get scolded if you just walk in and sit at a table). The staff is delightful. Of course, you can also grab a beer with your meal. There are plenty of pubs walking distance for after your meal.

I'm pretty much ordered the top line of the menu. Classic mash, Cumberland sausage, traditional gravy. The mash was silky smooth - amazing! The sausage was perfectly savory, and the gravy was simple yet delicious! Service was friendly and attentive. Love the vibe too.

Ordered the mash with the butter, cheddar cheese and spring onions accompanied by the specialty bangers of pork and apple w/the veggie broth. Not sure I received the right mash but it was delicious all the same. The pork and apple sausage couldn't really taste the apple but they were tender. Hate when you get a sausage and they spurt at you so very happy I wasn't wearing it. Enjoyed the onions in my broth. If the mash had butter and cheese need to amp that up a bit cause couldn't taste it at all. Service was quick. Felt bad as there were only 3 staff for a dinnertime rush and they were beyond busy. It's a cozy location w/quite a few tables squeezed into the space. So loud in there couldn't hear myself think. A solid offering...

I wanted to try British mash and pie and I really enjoyed Mother Mash! I came around dinner time and didn't need to wait for a table. It's a bit crowded inside but not too loud, and everything moves very quickly. The pie was nicely flaky and not too thick, while the gravy and mash were excellent. I also tried the sticky toffee pudding, which was overly sweet, but otherwise good if you avoid the caramel sauce.

Not pretty to look at, but still one of my favorite meals in London! This time around, I ended up at the Carnaby location and the even though it was a different location, the servers were still the absolute sweetest. I ordered a vegan lincolnshire with cheesy mustard mash and onion gravy and it was absolutely delicious. The vegan sausage was nothing to write home about. BUT, the cheesy mash with whole grain mustard was phenomenal. The mustard giving this mash a subtle kick which prevented it form being monotone. Combined with the onion gravy, it was such a delightfully savory dish. Keep in mind, reservations are DEFINITELY recommended. But overall, I still recommend this as a must if you're looking for classic British fare that's not boring!

Always trying to find a good pie and I finally made my way to Mother Mash. Been hearing about it and missed it last time I was in London but glad I came back around. This location in Carnaby is surrounded by shopping and food options so you have lots of choices for exploration after a heavy meal. Came at a bit of a late lunch hour and it was still somewhat patron'ed but service was friendly and fast. Basically choose your mash, pie/bangers, and gravy. I went with bubble&squeak, farmers, and a stout and it was all fantastic. Very great pastry on the pie and nice texture on the bubble&squeak. Farmer's was also nice with good chunky mushrooms, pearl onions, and bacon. I ate my whole plate and was quite full so ready to head back out to shops. Definitely a great spot to pop in for some traditional pie and mash! They do have ac as well which helped in the summer heat (84 degrees has never felt this hot to me)

Mother Mash for me is a must on a visit to London. Having classic pub food like steak & ale pie with mash and the nice variety of bangers to choose from to go with the mashed potatoes. Simple and delicious along with the selection of beers. Service is solid, they were very accommodating by turning the music down for me. The dining area was cozy and clean. Worth checking out!

Wanted to try out some local food and I am glad to find this place. The interior was modern and neat and staffs were both professional and friendly. Most importantly I had a blast with the mashed sweet potato and the sausage. So much better than fish and chips. Excellent!

Everything was amazing!! We actually got there at the right time to get seated! About 10 min after we arrived, the wait line was long!! We got seated right away (about 5 min) and then we got our drinks on first. I tried their cider on special raspberry hibiscus and we also tried a couple beers (we're not beer drinkers {whiskey only} but they were actually good). It was a nice and cozy restaurant and eating our sausage and mash there made it even better! The ambiance definitely gave a homey and cozy vibe. I would recommend this restaurant to dine in! Well worth your travels (if you're fooodies like us), and if you have to wait, it's so worth it!

Excellent British comfort food. Mashed potatoes topped with sausage or pie and then gravy. Curate your own dish. Loved it!

The chips were thick-cut, properly salted, and tasted like real chip shop fries instead of frozen fast food fries. The place was completely packed, so I ended up eating on the stairs about a block away, honestly felt like part of the experience. (I heard the non GF version was also excellent.) Platter came with flavorful mushy peas, tartar sauce, and a spicy mayo (or currry for the non GF platter). Chips were large and delicious. Portion was huge, and easily shareable. Delicious!! Service: It was ok. We waited in line for a really long time (more than an hour) but we were checked on from time to time. Once we were seated and ordered, no one really checked in, but we asked if we needed something. Ambiance: Cute outdoor seating. In door seating was okay. Reservations get to go into a back room which seemed nicer. Lovely side street in a crazy busy popular area. It's a solid 4.5 stars for what it is because the food was so good. I'd return. Tip: Make a reservation a couple of weeks in advance, or be prepared to wait...a long time...Or, skip the line to order takeaway and go enjoy your food!

It took 25 mins to place our drink order- then about 30 more mins to get our food, after placing that order. Then we had to wait to place a dessert order. Then we had to wait for the check. One word for this comes to mind...'waiting'. We found ourselves waiting every step of the way for our waiter to acknowledge us. Honestly I can forgive A LOT if people are nice but that wasn't the case with our server. Low energy, not very warm and welcoming and slow. Actually to be fair, I got a smile from the busboy when I was on my way to the restroom- perhaps the 2 should switch roles if the restaurant is looking for repeat visits or nice reviews. Btw- the manager...not exactly sure what he was doing. One last thing, I've had sea bass in many restaurants and never had anyone leave the skin on-Just not what I expected. This restaurant gets 2 thumbs down for me. Go to Bills right around the corner - save some money - and get a smile from the staff and a nice greeting.

They had room for party of 4 and it was Monday night, so "butcher" pricing, which means you pay what they pay by the weight for your meat.
