Spent three nights in London on a trip from the States, and came to The Victoria based on a recommendation from a friend. We were not disappointed. It's a wonderful old pub in a lively neighborhood just a block from Hyde Park and two blocks from Paddington Station. My girlfriend, ten-year-old son and I had dinner here on our last night of the trip, and what a way to end it! We made reservations for 6:30 in the upstairs section the day before. They don't accept reservations downstairs and it was packed the whole time we were there on a Thursday night, so you'll need a bit of luck finding a spot depending on when you come. They had a great list of British and other beers. And the food was incredible. My girlfriend had the lamb special, I had a beef pastry, and my son had the hamburger. Not a crumb was leftover when we were finished. There were two women working the two rooms upstairs, and both were incredibly friendly and helpful. Overall this is a fantastic spot in the city for great beer, great food, and great people.
Oh my goddess what a find! I was in London for one night and my hotel recommended The Victoria just around the corner. The dark beer was good, the food (beef and ale pie with mash, sticky toffee pudding) was excellent, and the ambience cozy and British on a stormy Tuesday afternoon. Regulars clearly love this place and the staff genuinely like each other. It was a most excellent treat for a discerning foodie craving a taste of Britain.
London is known for having some of the best sausages in the world, and The Victoria certainly lives up to that reputation. I tried several dishes. I had the crumbled sausage, served with grainy mustard, and it was absolutely delicious--savory, well-seasoned, and full of rich flavor. Excellent combination! You must try the pork belly. It was crisp, packed full of flavor, seasoned perfectly, and served with a side of shaved apples which was the perfect paring. Lastly, the cottage pie. While it wasn't the best I've had in London, it was still hearty, packed with flavor, and a satisfying portion. The potatoes were heavy, the beef was meaty, and extra sauce was served on the side with veggies. Beyond the food, the atmosphere at The Victoria is fantastic. The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making every patron feel at home. The crowd was lively but not overwhelming, and the space itself is beautiful--full of ambience, life, and positive energy. Whether you're stopping by for a casual pint or a full meal, it's a great spot to soak in the charm of a classic London pub. Definitely stop by for a pint or enjoy your favorite spirits! Cheers.
Great traditional pub and restaurant. We visited this place on Father's Day for a Sunday roast based on reviews from yelp. We made a reservation via phone which was very easy and they didn't require a deposit like they request in their website. I got the porchetta roast, wife got the chicken and my son got the siroloin beef roast. The restaurant is upstairs with its own bar in a very cute quint setting. We sat in the library room that is very tradì and elegant. The food was hearty and very traditional although I wouldn't recommend the porchetta roast since it has a lot of fat and not much meat. The chicken looked great and the beef was also nice. All come with the full trimmings including roasted potatoes and veggies and Yorkshire pudding. Service was great!
I recently had Sunday Supper at the Victoria. Instead of the standard Beef I had the Porchetta version and it was great. I really enjoyed all the standard Sunday Supper items but the Pocchetta was a wonderful surprise. Very small upstairs seating area but I was a single so was good for me but as Sunday fulled in never got too crowded or noisy.
Thank you yelp for helping me find this wonderful recommendation. I had a single night and took the Heathrow express to paddington and then a 10 minutes walk. Food was delicious and got a proper pump beer (Fuller ESB) or two. I nailed it on the ordering: started with the Cumberland sausage starter (delicious, warm sausage in a glaze), the lamb special which was a two bone lamb chop with the most delicious potato casserole and sauce (ate every bite) and finished with the sticky toffee. If you're looking for a neighborhood win with plenty of locals, this is the spot.
Classic pub in a beautiful building. Sunday roast is class. Decor is everything you'd want for a traditional London meal + pint. Service is pretty quick.
My friends and I went here shortly after landing in London since it was near our hotel. It was the perfect classic English pub to start our trip! We sat at a table outside with no reservations and enjoyed the scenery. The others at the pub seemed to be locals grabbing a drink after work, great for people watching! The food was solid and had some staple English food. We all enjoyed our dishes and the servers were very friendly. A great spot if you are staying in the Paddington area!
A nice find by yelp search near Paddington - it's a bit out of the main roads and mostly locals are here - so I know I came to the right place. Nice little pub, old fashioned decors. We ordered off the specials. Vietnamese wings - the wings are smaller than the US - probably less hormones. a bit spicy but very flavorful. Chicken burger - tender, juicy and flavorful- my hubby gives big thumbs up. Haddock - perfectly fried and tasty. Not too hot about the minted peas (tastes like Chinese medicine - for real). Should've read the menu more carefully. Highly recommended- except for the peas. Ps - the ladies room stall was super small - feel like my face could be on the door, is this part of the pub culture?

Since we had already had dinner, I did order a side of chips and they were the best of our London trip so far! They had Trivia Night on Tuesday and we had the best time playing with the locals and tourists, though the questions were quite challenging if they were UK based. The service and atmosphere was nice, welcoming and friendly. Everyone was in good moods hanging out, as it should be in a pub. We had a grand time and we will for sure return before we leave London to have dinner. Their menu has great offerings. One of our best pub experiences of the trip.
First time visitor to London, I was looking for a a place that had both great atmosphere and great food. The Victoria is exactly that. Located not too far from Paddington in Bayswater stations it's pretty easy to as well with wonderful scenery while you eat The restaurant has dining areas outside, downstairs, and upstairs into different rooms filled with historic charm. The staff is very friendly and made sure that everything was to our liking. Food was delicious. Their pies are great. Also had a salad and was not expecting to enjoy it as much as I did. I don't know what they did to the chicken, but it was some of the best I've ever had. Cocktails are fantastic as well. One of the best old-fashioned I've ever tasted. If you want a real bloody Mary made properly, go here I think the restaurant is dog friendly as some lovable furry creatures stopped by to receive some pets while I was eating. This made me smile Highly recommend would 100% return

Rainy morning in London and I was on a mission for shepherd's pie, which, I've learned, is surprisingly uncommon at pubs these days. This place doesn't technically have it, but their braised beef & ale shortcrust pie comes very close, and it's one of their specialties. Creamed potato, greens, rich gravy... comfort food done right. £19.50 and honestly worth it, especially on a cold, wet day. The ambiance really welcomed me in: warm, cozy interior with the fireplace going and a charming vintage Christmas aesthetic. Add in friendly people and genuinely warm service. Exactly the kind of pub you hope to stumble into on a rainy London morning. I'm hyped. read more
Great pub (named after Queen Victoria) not far from our hotel with a nice selection of beers and wine. Nothing overly pricey but decent. Food was pub grub but tasty, good serving size (the fish was very big) and came out quickly after ordering. We split the dessert (Marmalade Bread & Butter Pudding w/ custard) which was good. Couple of beers/wines and we called it a night. Great little spot - very busy at the time we were there 5:30/6pm so table could be scarce. read more

We had a lovely meal at the Victoria in Paddington. The cask ale, fish and chips, half baked chicken, Hugo spritz and truffle fries were all on point. Tha staff was friendly and efficient. This yank was well satisfied and sorry this can't be his usual pub. read more

This is a great old pub but with modern and bistro level food. Must give credit where it's due - a cozy and burbling atmosphere matched with some very tasty and lighter than usual pub fare. Such a contrast to some of the dross nearby. Service is attentive and friendly - while the place fills up you can just relax in your corner and enjoy the food and adult beverages. The ghosts of Winston and Bowie add to the atmosphere upstairs. Downstairs there's a classic Fullers pub to enjoy a pint of London Pride! Will be back again! 10/10 read more

My first experience with Sunday roast dinner and I was not disappointed! Tender roast, fresh vegetables and the most delicious cheesey cauliflower - I'm still dreaming about it! Excellent horseradish as well. Bar area is seat yourself and order at the bar. I wish we did more of this type of service in the US. Lovely atmosphere and staff were friendly. read more

An absolute charmer. Sat outside on a warm spring day. The inside ambiance was even more charming and truly a delightful surprise. We had the bangers & mash and the beef pie. Stellar! Never seen bangers like this before! Did not disappoint. Paired with your favorite pint(s). Check out the rooms upstairs. Recommend! read more

We had reserved a table for dinner as our first dinner in London. It was also convenient because it was only a couple of blocks away from where we were staying in Paddington. As we were approaching it, we figure that our reserved table was going to be a 6 person table in the corner of the pub with bar stools. We were pleasantly surprised to find out that there are, in fact, dining tables on the upper floor amongst two highly-themed rooms: one "the theatre"; the other, "the library". We were in The Theatre. It was such a fabulous dinner. At first, they had us in the back corner table which was already fine. But since they had a reservation cancelation, they moved us to the center table right in front of the balcony window. Not only did we have a nice view of Paddington but we also had the grandest table of the establishment. My sister got the pasta, I got the lamb, my cousin got the fish and chips. Everything we had was delicious - food and drink. Admittedly, we didn't get to spend much time in the pub area which is all on the ground floor but it looked like a fun, civilized, albeit crowded time! I highly recommend this place for tourists and locals! I used to live in London and for my family, it was their first time in London. But we all agreed that we all had a great time and thought the food was delicious. Props to the servers upstairs in the dining room. They made all the difference in the world for our positive experience. read more

This pub caught my eye when I was researching before our trip and we were not disappointed! Carina was our delightful server. We started with the Mortimer's hard cider on tap, a Fever-tree ginger beer and the board of British cheeses for two. The flavors on the board were excellent, and combining the quince jelly with some of the Blue Monday was an unexpected pleasure. The salad of fresh tomatoes with pickled shallots and pea shoots was a summer indulgence. Hubby enjoyed his shepherds pie, but doesn't like green peas which were part of the included side dish. The crispy crispy King prawns and squid were perfect with the tomato salad. We really enjoyed our dinner here! read more

While on vacation we wanted to have a proper authentic roast so we found this place. We made a reservations because we figured it could get busy on Sundays. It's a good thing we did because the place was packed. We arrived on time and they sat us down right away upstairs in the library. The place looks really nice inside with a good vibe. We ordered a round of drinks and the pork belly appetizer. The drinks tasted great and the pork belly was really good. Our entrees were the chicken roast, the lamb roast, and the pork roast. Unfortunately, it took longer for our dishes to come out. Once the dishes came out, they looked great and there was plenty on the plate to eat. All of the dishes tasted really good flavor wise and were very tender. We couldn't finish all entrees which sucked because we didn't have a microwave in our hotel so there was no way to heat up leftovers. We then ordered dessert, the special which I forgot what that was (sorry) and the sticky toffee pudding. Both dishes tasted outstanding, flavorful, and light. The ambience in the place is great. The service was not bad, just a little slow. I'd definitely go back to this place if I was in the country again. read more

We wanted to experience a traditional British meal for our first night in London. We found The Victoria on Yelp, and were super impressed! The food was flavorful and cooked to perfection. From the tomato and basil soup for our starter, to the incredible steak and ale meat pie, to the perfect finish of the sticky pudding with buffalo milk ice cream! The servers were all incredibly friendly and helpful! It was definitely a local hangout that just oozed an English pub vibe...loved it!! read more
Came here for dinner. Sat upstairs. Service was good. Ordered a local pale ale and wine. Rocket salad and olives were good to start. Ordered the roast beef dinner and lamb dinner. Roast beef a bit over cooked. Everything else was very good. Prices reasonable. No room for desserts but not made in house. Nice ambiance upstairs as more quiet than downstairs. read more
Yes ! We scored reservations and were able to get to this local legend tonight. With reservations you are seated upstairs in the Bar room or the library, not downstairs in the Pub. It was fine as the pub was packed on this sunny Friday evening. The library was a bit proper for us so we were lucky enough to be in the Bar room. Our server Thom was excellent, very personable, could answer many menu questions, and available for drink refills etc. We really enjoyed chatting with him. We started with the Vietnamese Chicken Wings, very very good, with a kick that sneaks up on you. I had the haddock and chips, it was absolutely perfect. Crispy, perfectly cooked, and not a drop of grease. Served with fries (also vg) and some mashed peas with mint, quite British, but not my cup of tea. My partner had the steak which was also perfectly cooked and very good, tender and flavorful. For desert we shared the warm brownie with peanut brittle and ice cream, it was devine and a perfect share ! All is all a great night in London with great food and service ! If we lived here we'd be regulars ! read more
