we were so hopeful for this place but sadly disappointed. got there and ordered caprese salad. tomatoes were basically white so we left those and ate the mozzarella. then we waited over an hour for our food. a table next to us got there after us and got their food before us (even finished the food before ours came out). we got chicken piccata and piccata with salmon and shrimp. the chicken piccata had great flavor but the chicken was cut into strips and was tough/rubbery not exactly a cutlet like it should be. the salmon and shrimp dish had no flavor except for char and everything tasted burnt. no one came to check to see how our food was. we pushed the salmon dish to the side after taking only 2 bites and the i'm assuming owner came to give us the bill. we told her our thoughts about everything and she proceeded to take 30% off the salmon dish. no apologies, no can i make you a new one, let me refund you the full amount. nothing. will not be back. read more

Talk about the most amazing Family owned Italian restaurant! To start some freshly made garlic bread. (OMG the bread was delicious). Then Our appetizer Calamari, Gnocchi allá Vodka & Chicken Marsala topped with some White Moscato wine and to finish a delicious chocolate lovers cake. Everything was amazing, the husband and wife were so loving and welcoming. Went for lunch here with my husband and this definitely will be our go to place when we are in the area. INCREDIBLE!!! I order a version of this dish at every Italian Restaurant I go to and this...this is THE best I've EVER had!!! It's called Daniel's special...basically lemon butter sauce with capers and Chicken...I added mushrooms. The chicken is breaded and the sauce was could not have been more perfect! Cheesy garlic bread, spaghetti with meatballs and cannoli were fabulous too!! I'm here on business and will be back every time I'm in town!! When I saw Giovannis Table pop up in Yelp under hot and new I immediately turned to the reviews. To my surprise, there were only five reviews, and like many skeptical Yelpers I was dubious of their authenticity. I was wrong... This little gem tucked away in Bee Cave in the center next to Los Pinos delighted my taste buds to no end. When I sat down and saw some of the plates being served, and oh those pies, I knew I was in for a delectable delight of a meal! Giovannis Table offers items on the menu rarely seen in the local area. Stromboli!!! We ordered the classic, a 17" cheese pizza. It had the distinct "bite" of a classic NYC slice. Every bite was better than the last and it took all my will power to not inhale the entire pie. A culinary masterpiece! Did I mention that I opened with meatballs? Nope, but they, and the sauce, were simply amazing! The family that seats, serves, cooks, and cleans at Giovannis Table is committed the best and freshest ingredients possible. They even make their pasta in house which delighted me, an amateur pastafarian myself, to find such a treat in the local area. My advice: get there soon. The chef knows his regulars and their favorite table. Giovannis Table just usurped every local favorite I have come to love during my many years in the area. Next up: Philly cheese steak! I'm a native of Philly so watch out for my review of this Philadelphia favorite. Will they go so far as to fly in Amoroso rolls? Service was dismal. Inside was dingy. And they must have forgotten to put crab in the shrimp and crab pasta. Simple mixed drinks were $15 a pop. Growing up in a large italian family i got tired of eating italian food to the point i avoided italian restaurants. My girlfriend told me she stopped into Giovannis for lunch and had the best lasagna in her life. I thought OK ... she is a gourmet chef trained in paris and for her to say that meant alot. First, garlic knots smelled and tasted as good, except wish they were softer though. But everything else was absolutely fresh and delicious. My husband had the trio plate of lasagna, chicken parmigiana and fettuccine alfredo. I had the salmon and shrimp piccata with spaghetti. We also had ceasar salad with our meals. Austin has been missing the true italian tasting restaurants and I think this might be it! We love trying new, local spots. We will have to add this to our list. Not bougie at all. This was the best Italian dinner we have had in a long time! Small, family owned set-up with all of the traditional authentic offerings including stromboli and New York style pizza. We selected caprese salad and bruschetta to start. Baked tortellini and gnocchi bolognese for entrees. And New York cheesecake and limoncello mascarpone cake for dessert. Everything was absolutely delightful. Portion sizes are generous. Service was attentive and gracious. Prices are incredibly affordable. Giovanni himself even came out of the kitchen to say hello. My first visit, I showed up at 6PM on Friday to order two calamari appetizers to go. 45 minutes later got my order! The place was packed, the husband and wife were busy. Arriving home my two orders had surprising very few very thin rings no more than a dozen each for $14 each. They were very different than normal calamari rings. No runch. No flavor. They were small strings...they lack material substance! The marinara dipping sause has some flavor but was so thick it was like eating from a bottom of a pot.
