I would have preferred to write about their food but the service was literally non-existent. There was only one table occupied inside, so it wasn't that they were busy. We were excited to see that Giovanni and Nina had reopened a restaurant here in Bee Cave so we stopped in for lunch. Greeted with smiles and hugs, we were seated immediately and received our selected drinks and complimentary bread knots. There were olive oil and vinegar as well as butter pats on the table. We ordered - I had the Antipasto Salad while the others had the lunch ravioli, one with marinara and one with vodka sauce. Each lunch special included a salad so one had a Cesar and the other, a house salad with ranch. The salads were fresh and colorful and were followed pretty quickly by the main courses. The lunch portions of ravioli looked small but were tasty and very filling. The antipasto salad was HUGE! (see image) The meats and cheese were apparently rolled into logs then sliced and added to the dinner-plate-sized salad in pinwheels and accompanied by tomatoes, shredded cheese, and black olives (watch for the pits!). Yelp failed me this time. Yelp is usually pretty reliable, but stopping here was a regretful decision. We had spent the day at Hamilton pool and Reimers Ranch. We wanted to stop for a quick dinner on our way home, and this place sounded good. Unfortunately, it wasn't. There was something really wrong with their marinara sauce. It definitively tasted off. It was sour. All 4 in our party agreed. My kids ordered kids' spagehetti and meatball dinners. My daughter said, "Mom, I'm hungry, but im not eating this!" She loudly told us it was "disgusting. " My husband was shushing her, and I thought she was just being a bit dramatic. I asked what was wrong with it. She said it tastes "bitter." I tasted it, and she was correct. It tasted awful. Like it may have gone bad. My husband tasted it and was immediately concerned that we would get sick from it. My son took his headphones off, and we asked him what he thought of his dinner. He said it wasn't very good. I asked him what was wrong with it. He said that the meatball was okay, but the sauce was terrible. He also had only eaten his meatball. We told the server. A different one gave us the bill. It was like we had said nothing. My husband told them he wanted to speak with someone about the sauce. They tried to convince us it was perfectly fine. That this was their normal sauce. No way. Something was wrong with that sauce. Whether or not they admit it. All four of us can't be wrong. We have never had an issue with marinara sauce anywhere else. I mean, it's marinara. It's pretty hard to screw up. My husband had a stomach ache later on. He had consumed some of the same sauce on his meatball parm sub. The meatball, bread, and cheese had masked the sauce flavor enough that he had thought it just wasn't that good of a sandwich. When you tasted the sauce alone, it was apparent that something was really off. Luckily, he only had a stomach ache. Nothing more. The servers were all very nice, but they did leave us waiting for very long stretches. Especially when we asked to speak to someone about the sauce. Oh, and they charged us $20 for a penne vodka with onions and mushrooms. No meat. Meanwhile, other meatless pasta dishes were $14 or less on their menu. We had seen a photo on Yelp of this dish, and the waiter said he could have them make it. We should have asked how much. Oh, well. After the second time we brought up the sauce, they did take off one of the 2 kids' meals off of the bill. Mind you, both of my kids each only ate their meatball. We hadn't actually asked them to remove anything from the bill, but I would have personally taken both kids' meals off if I had been them. The kids' meals also had rang up $10 each, even though the menu listed them as $7.50 each. The extra fun part was that we had to stop and buy our kids' dinner when we left because they were still hungry and the point of dinner out was not to cook. Ridiculous. We won't be back. read more

We recently took our entire family to this newly opened restaurant in Bee Cave. Our overall experience was wonderful. This is a very traditional, family owned restaurant with traditional Italian food. Chicken Parmesan, Lasagna, Bolognese, etc. The food is good if you love the Italian classics. The service was outstanding and it is very kid friendly. The restaurant itself is not a big space, so it may be more difficult to get into on the weekends. I'm from New York and my cousins are Italian. These credentials leave me to say this is the best Italian neighborhood place we've eaten at in two years down here. You need to get over here and support this place, because I don't want to spend two more years looking. Nice people, excellent food, typical neighborhood ambiance. You can bring the kids. My wife ordered veal Marsala by mistake. She meant Piccata, and the Marsala was so good she decided to just eat that. I had a bite, and she was right. Brooklyn good. As we were finishing, the chef came out to say hi and ask how it was. First time this has happened anywhere in Texas, but not uncommon in New York. These people are awesome and their food is great. Seated immediately I noticed long drapes over the windows to keep heavy sun off. I ordered several menu items and found the Fettuccine Alfredo with Chicken which was a plus. The waitress took my order of a salad and cheese sticks. First I ordered a Reisling white wine added ice because I do like ice in my drink. The pasta was above average the sause did ring very well with me. I recommend but the cheese sticks was not hot enough a little too stiff needed a little more cooking time. I will return again prices moderate for the area. Large plates and bread over cooked but good. Ambiance is a fun first date and exceptional service a major plus. we were so hopeful for this place but sadly disappointed. got there and ordered caprese salad. tomatoes were basically white so we left those and ate the mozzarella. then we waited over an hour for our food. a table next to us got there after us and got their food before us (even finished the food before ours came out). we got chicken piccata and piccata with salmon and shrimp. the chicken piccata had great flavor but the chicken was cut into strips and was tough/rubbery not exactly a cutlet like it should be. the salmon and shrimp dish had no flavor except for char and everything tasted burnt. no one came to check to see how our food was. we pushed the salmon dish to the side after taking only 2 bites and the i'm assuming owner came to give us the bill. we told her our thoughts about everything and she proceeded to take 30% off the salmon dish. no apologies, no can i make you a new one, let me refund you the full amount. nothing. will not be back. read more

I was looking for a few Italian restaurants closer to South Austin because I bring food as a medical rep to offices there. All of them gave me the runaround we're not able to accommodate me, do not open till 11 AM. This is when I called Giovanni's as I live in Lakeway this is our neighborhood Italian restaurant. Not only do they pick up before store opened, they immediately accommodated my needs; was able to create two large pans to serve a group of 13 people and have all of it together within one hour. We were looking for something new to try for dinner and found Giovannis by odd chance. We were quite impressed and will be going back again without doubt. Tried three dishes. Shrimp and crab linguine. Tasty. Big portion. Chicken and sausage risotto was delicious. Cooked perfectly. Great sauce and there was enough left over for lunch the next day. Which was good for two reasons. Dishes arent cheap, but I had dinner and lunch for the money. Veal marsala was not as good as expected. The beef gravy flavor was salty and overwhelming. Tried tiramasu and the Italian Cream Cake. Cake was outstanding. Tiramisu was good but a little strong on the coffee component. Family run and operated. Dad was in the kitchen cooking for each table in order so it wasnt fast but well worth the patience. Kids and mom were taking care of customers. When I go back instead of the chicken and sausage risitto I want a custom shrimp and sausage risotto. And lets take a full cake home also. read more

INCREDIBLE!!! I order a version of this dish at every Italian Restaurant I go to and this...this is THE best I've EVER had!!! It's called Daniel's special...basically lemon butter sauce with capers and Chicken...I added mushrooms. The chicken is breaded and the sauce was could not have been more perfect! Cheesy garlic bread, spaghetti with meatballs and cannoli were fabulous too!! I'm here on business and will be back every time I'm in town!!
