Baklava

Nice little spot when in the mood for a quick "fast food" meal that isn't your typical fast foods. With a wide variety of food from hummus and gyros, to pizzas and pastas, this counter self order restaurant feeds the belly. I don't believe the employees there speak English very well at least the ones when we were there because twice they got my instructions incorrect. We ordered a gyro wrap and a chicken wrap with sides of hummus and a baklava to share. Flavors were very bland which works for some taste buds. Being Lebanese, I was a little disappointed but I am used to a rarity in full-flavored Lebanese food. We can't speak for the pizza or pastas. The baklava was more like a square apple pie in flavor. The hummus was flavorless. The bread quickly hardened. Place was clean and the wrap was tasty when I loaded it with the hot sauce. Employees while not responsive in conversation were attentive to our requests. I probably won't go back unless I see some yelp comments to say the cook has worked on their recipes. Indoor strip Center eating area and a small shared outdoor space. Everything very average.

That the name is Mediterranean Grill "& Pizza" should have been my first clue. I was in the area and when I read "Mediterranean Grill" and the first review said "best gyro ever", I decided to give it a try. I was expecting a sit down restaurant but instead it's a place where you order at a counter and then it is delivered on a tray. They do have tables and chairs inside to sit at. I tried the lamb gyro and had a side of hummus. I will say the hummus was nice and creamy, but it didn't have much flavor. Worse was the bread it came with. I don't know it was supposed to be pita bread but it was very dry and almost seemed store bought. It wasn't hot and didn't seem fresh at all. The gyro sandwich seemed more like a shawarma. Again, the bread is not what you would expect in a traditional gyro. The bread was falling apart and made it difficult to eat. The meat was undercooked and came in chunks of instead of thin slices. The meat did come off a rotating spit, but again, they were just big chunks. They use yellow onion instead of traditional red onion. They might have used what the think is tzatziki but it really didn't taste like tzatziki sauce. Bottom line, I ate half the gyro but had to throw the rest away. The meat was not cooked enough and the yellow onion real took away from the flavor. The hummus consistency was good but very little flavor and the bread they serve with it was flavorless and not even warm. I should have known when I saw "pizza" in the name of the restaurant. That they also serve pizza and pasta should have told me this would not be an authentic place. If you truly have had good Mediterranean food, I can tell you that you will be disappointed here.

Very nice place their food was wonderful. We have to do touchscreen to order but they gave us a lot of good stuff. Their soup is wonderful and so was the chicken.

We stopped in for lunch before a full day of holiday activities! The service was very quick. It is a self ordering place so no waitress and you can see them cooking your food. The portions are huge and everything tasted great with plenty of flavor. I had the lamb which was cooked perfectly, the hubby enjoyed the chicken. We both loved the falafels.

Lentil soup, chicken shawarma, hummus with meat, rice side, gyro wrap. Yum!

Adding a star because we ordered it thru delivery. We got the chicken shawarma and the gyro and the hummus with pita. We asked for no sesame seeds as I have diverticular disease. The chicken shawarma showed up plain, just chunks of dry old looking chicken wrapped in a grilled flour tortilla (like from HEB). The gyro was okay, but dry. The hummus was okay but a little runny, and the pita was another flour tortilla. I know this place is pretty new, and this is our first time trying it, but if you're craving Shawarma, I'd maybe try another spot.

The chicken kabob was AMAZING!! Full of delicious flavor and served in a wonderful, native Jordanian atmosphere! The friendly staff capped off my first visit to Hamilton Mediterranean Grill! A+++

This was by far the best restaurant I went to when in Austin! Between the ambiance, service and…read morefood, this is a 10/10. We had a reservation for a party of 10 on a Saturday night. We were sat outside in this beautiful oasis. I didn't even remember I was in Austin, I thought I was in Greece throughout my meal. There were so many different types of seating, an outdoor bar and the whole outdoor area was covered in plant and trees and lights! The outside set up was jaw dropping beautiful. I couldn't believe we didn't get too hot and how beautiful everything outside was. This is a Mediterranean place, so the menu was very heavy on that. I love this kind of food, so I found plenty of option that I would like. To start, as a table, we split the hummus, feta dip and roasted pork belly bites. The whipped feta dip was the best that I have ever had. It came with plenty of pita bread, cucumbers and carrots. It wasn't enough for all of us to eat how much we wanted lol, but we all did try some of it. All of the appetizers were very fresh and light tasting. They came out in a decent amount of time too. For my entree, I got the grilled chicken kabob. After all of the appetizers I had, I wasn't even hungry for dinner, but I did manage to eat some of it. It was a pretty simple but delicious tasting kabob. It was one skewer with half a plate of basmati rice. Idk if it would have filled me up if I didn't have some appetizers, but it certainly was delicious. The service was spot on. The waitress took her time other us and kept checking in to see if we needed anything. Whenever I am back in town, this will be my first stop!!

Short rib shakshuka (2/5) Everything is so fresh and it was so hard getting a reservation and now I know why. I would order everything again except the shakshuka. The shakshuka lacked flavor, which was odd since everything else was super flavorful. The short rib was a little tough and the poached egg still had runny whites we subbed out the potatoes in the shawarma skirt steak for brussel sprouts, which was totally worth it. I would love to come back for dinner and try their fish. Service was 5/5. Our waitress was super friendly and checked up on us. The food runners were very prompt. All the starters and mezze came out pretty fast so we always had food. I love how they give unlimited pita and their pita is so good! Having been to Ema, we wanted to try Aba which has been in Austin longer. It was harder to get a reservation at Aba. The parking situation is a bummer at Aba though, which is why I gave it 4/5. The parking garage next door is $35. I think you can get $3 off from Aba. We parked somewhere else, which was also a bit pricey and a hassle. You're lucky if you can find street parking. Being a native Austinite, I both love and dislike how Austin has exploded. I wish the parking garage would work something out with Aba. Perla's, before it burned down, validated parking for 2hrs down the street. Too bad you can't get that here. Final verdict is that it's worth the hassle to park to eat here but I probably won't come as often because parking is a friction point. Aba is not hurting for my business though as it was already very busy when we arrived.

Combining that with the Egyptian spices makes for such a unique, delicious experience. I don't really see an argument against having them in the S tier of Austin bbq I've been pleasantly surprised at how short the lines generally are when I come. Even on weekends around lunchtime I don't think I've had more than a 20 minute wait. The lamb chops do tend to run out fairly quickly and I have had a few visits where some other items are out. If you're dead set on those coming closer to late morning is probably the move. The space is fantastic, given the volume of people visiting here doesn't go up dramatically. Theres plenty of tables, the brewery has solid beer options, and it's one of the few brewery type spaces in Austin that will consistently have games on. If they ever get the level of attention their quality deserves, this goes out the window. The line area does not have room for a franklins/interstellar type line. My guess is they'll eventually go the brick and mortar route. Overall I can't recommend this spot enough!

I was prepared to splurge, since it was my birthday, and I picked a Michelin rec. But I was immediately struck by how reasonably priced everything was. We went all in. We ordered brisket, sausage, lamb bacon ribs, the Egyptian Cowboy, hummus, and that special pink potato salad. The portions were great, even ordering the smallest serving sizes when given a choice. The food was fantastic. I really don't know what else to say. It absolutely deserves its incredible reputation, and it honestly might be the best bang for your buck in TX BBQ. The atmosphere is really cool too. They're stationed outside of Oddwood brewing and shares seating. The outdoor and indoor seating are both very nice. Oddwood also has some great retro arcade games. It makes for a great afternoon or evening out.

Austin Restaurant Week takes place from August 28th through September 13th. First stop...Rollin Smoke BBQ, located in the Chalmers building, which filled with a crowd of people. I ordered a pull pork sandwich, mac-n-cheese and banana pudding. The pulled pork sandwich was huge, which I shared with the hubs. Quite honestly, I was full after eating 1/4 of the sandwich, which had cabbage, pickles and of course the pork (not the typical stringy pork but chunks of pork bursting with smokey flavor). The mac-n-cheese was substantial with cheese filled shell pasta with a hint of a smokey flavor. So yummy...Well, I might have eaten "all" the banana pudding. I thoroughly enjoyed the Boozy Brussel Sprouts which were smoked and flashed fried, a balsamic glaze with whiskey soaked raisins and parmesan. I am definitely returning to check out the Half Chicken Plate with 2 small sides that I eyeballed.
