I looked around for a 4-top since my daughter has special needs and I need to help her eat. I didn't see any in that dining area, so I looked around for the woman who I didn't see either. A waiter walked up to The table next to us and looked at me looking lost, and I said, "we need some help." He kind of stared at me for a second then turned around to his table. So I picked up the menus and silverware and walked into the next dining room where some folks were sitting and there were tables. One employee looked confused at what I was doing there and I explained my issue, at which point she told me that that area was closed and we couldn't sit there and there was nothing available. So the woman who disappeared re-appeared, reiterated that we couldn't sit there, and so I told her I guessed we could sit outside, even though it was 95 degrees. She brought out chips and salsa and then we just sat there. And sat there. And sat there. No one came to ask for drinks and at this point I was fuming. I left my daughter at the table and went inside to find someone and I swear there were 5 people standing there, including the waiter who turned away from me, just looking at me. No one asked what I needed or if they could help me. (I had decided to leave before I did this, but my daughter wanted to stay.) Finally a guy who clearly just arrived there asked what I needed and I told him we'd been sitting outside for a long time without any service, and at exactly that time someone finally walked up to our table. I told the new guy at the host stand that our experience was really sucking. The waiter who came was friendly but scarce, and we got the spoon I asked for so my daughter could manage her own rice once we had finished the meal. We then waited a very long time for our check and I had to explain to my daughter over and over that we couldn't leave til we paid the bill. When I did, I had the options of selecting a 20, 25 or 28 percent tip, which I found ludicrous given the absolute epic lack of service. I think it may be the worst I've ever had. Not sure about training and culture there, but it was an amazing example from start to finish of an entire staff who had perfected mediocrity and ambivalence.

We were shopping in Bee Cave and got hungry, so I went to Yelp to discover this cute little place. I did learn that they are mainly a "take away" model hence the play on words "picnic" on their name. But there are a few tables and bar counter that you can dine in. We ordered a bit of food- 1. Half roasted chicken 2. Hot wings 3. Roasted Beets 4. Kale side salad 5. Fun selection of NE brand beers! Yes they have wine and unique beer selection there! The roasted chicken was definitely brined- it was super juicy and the chimichurri and salsa complimented it wonderfully. It was explained to me the chicken were free range and how they are raised humanely, reminded me of an episode in a tv series- Portlandia that made me chuckle. The hot wings... Buffalo style but not like at Anchor Bar.. still amazing in its own right. Fresh (I mean there were zero dry spots on carrots and celery and it was crunchy fresh that even me, the non-celery lover- ate 4 sticks with their tasty homemade ranch sauce. (I think it was the ranch dressing bc I literally licked the bowl clean) The roasted beets were served cold with feta cheese crumbles, mint and pistachios. I could eat that by itself as a meal! Yummy! Now, I usually hate kale. Only like it roasted. But I can eat Chicknic's Kale side salad all day long. It contains roasted cauliflower, pickled red onion and a mountain of pumpkin and sunflower seeds! (Maybe that's why I like it so much??) All washed down with a brown ale beer you find in the NE. While we were dining, several people came by to pick up their to go orders and there is a fun freezer where they sell delicious take aways like chicken soup and their famous chicken pot pie, chicken crepes, chicken enchiladas... oh did I mention this is a great place if you're on a keto diet or gluten free restriction?!?? You basically told me that you don't care that I wish you would answer your phone. However, using the excuse that you only have two people in the kitchen while you and another person sit at a table and ignore the phone ringing sealed that fact that you do not care about your customers. As always, the chicken had good flavor, but I cannot keep ignoring the dryness any longer. And with your lackadaisical attitude toward your customers, I am done. My absolute favorite dish is the fried fish and chips--perfectly crispy on the outside and tender and flavorful on the inside. It's honestly one of the best versions I've had anywhere. On my most recent visit, I also tried the lettuce tacos, which seem to be really popular there right now. The moment I took my first bite I fell in love with the flavor. They were fresh, light, and packed with amazing taste. I ended up eating the whole thing right away because they were just that good. I also ordered the fried dill pickles, which are another personal favorite of mine. They were perfectly fried and full of flavor. One thing I've noticed every time I visit is that the restaurant is always busy, which says a lot. It's clear that many people love their Mediterranean menu, and after eating here multiple times, I completely understand why. On my way back in, the couple I'd seen were outside, and the guy saw what I was carrying and said, "we moved outside. It's an icebox in there!" It was 98 degrees outside. That was what they decided was better. Got a tomato and cucumber salad. Enormous pieces. Very bizarre. Like Game of Thrones for a giant pieces. Knife needed on every piece multiple times. Also the tomato was a colorless, flavorless cheap, giant basic tomato. No pretty grape tomatoes, or heirloom or anything. It was pricey. I brought it home to feed the deer. My daughter wanted fries and I was worried about how hot they'd be...no need! The place was so cold they chilled before we got them. And the space was nice; could do a nice happy hour there, except for the music. 80's rock. We ate in the freezing cold to "Final Countdown" and "Tom Sawyer". It was cold and a competition! Won't be back. Food was okay. Space was cold and ambiance was just stupid. If you want to spend 17 dollars on a plate, go elsewhere.

My husband went with the beef milanesa which is lightly breaded and served on their toasted bread, which again is the most amazing bread ever! I got the Lomito which is a slow cooked beef steak, simply served with chimichurri sauce on the toasted bread. I can't lie, I could see why it won an award. It was so good, tender, juicy, all of it!
