Gumbo! Excellent!
Dave H.

Last night's dinner was a masterclass in both culinary execution and genuine hospitality. From the moment we arrived, our server, Kay, set a high bar for transparency; despite managing a large party, she proactively assured us we'd remain a priority--a level of professional expectation-setting I rarely encounter. Following her lead, we opted for the oysters, the beef tenderloin (swapping the creamed spinach for grilled asparagus), and the redfish paired with parmesan Brussels sprouts. My Bordeaux and my wife's lemon drop provided the perfect counterpoints to a meal that felt both deliberate and indulgent. Throughout the night, Kay's attention was surgical--never letting a water glass dip below half--and her timing was impeccable. Though the rum-based crème brûlée was a bold finish (even if rum isn't our preferred profile), the overall experience was so impressive that we asked to commend Kay to the manager. For an evening where the menu and the service punch well above their price point, this is a must-visit for steak and seafood lovers alike.

Fish and chips with Brussel sprouts

Its been a long while since I've been here. My dish was not good at all, the fish they used was catfish and it didn't taste good and the was hard. The texture of the bread part was mushy. My partner had the fried shrimp and he loved it. The server we had her name is Jaz. She was amazing and very attentive. She was super sweet asking me she would have changed out my meal to something else. Most server wouldn't ask that. I would go back again to try something else. Everyone there was super nice and sweet. I would recommend this place. Not the fish and chips.

Mahi Mahi blackened tacos

Food was absolutely amazing! Mahi Mahi fish tacos with the mango/pineapple salsa atop a small house vinaigrette salad was phenomenal! Crab cakes were amazing...majority crab meat and not filler...I recommend the Dijon mustard sauce on side, as would be overpowering and take away from amazing crabcake flavor. Waiter was very courteous and attentive and the atmosphere was very clean and pleasant. I will say it was a tad loud, and difficult to carry on a conversation with someone who does not hear well. Recommend 10/10 any day!!!!

Thai Style Mussels

This dish is simply delectable this is why we come here they're so flavorful. Service is always great . Come on in and try them trust me they'll quickly become your favorite dish.

Peel & Eat Shrimp

Here's a polished Yelp-style review that's clear, direct, and honest: 3 stars Thai Mussels (Sweet & Spicy): Unfortunately, there was no spice at all--just overly sweet. Adding Thai peppers would really make this dish pop. The menu description says sweet and spicy with curry flavors, but none of that came through. I ate the whole dish, but I wouldn't order it again. Peel-and-Eat Shrimp: Happy hour price was $10 for a good amount of shrimp, medium-sized, but you have to clean them yourself. The seasoning makes this very messy. This dish could use an upgrade: easier-to-peel shrimp, cleaned a bit more, and slightly larger in size. At $20, I wouldn't order it again--and probably not even during happy hour. I'd also love to see some of the happy hour specials from the past make a return. Service: The bartender was busy but efficient. Overall, decent experience but the food needs improvement to match the menu descriptions.

Rosemary Artichoke Pasta (w/ Shrimp)

Really good place for a date-nite. A bit noisy for a "romantic" date, but still a good place to dine for two. Took my wife here and really enjoyed our visit. The place is very nicely decorated and lit. They have large glass doors that slide open for fresh air to breeze through the entire dining area. The staff is very nice and accommodating. Our waitress took good care of us throughout the night. My wife had the Rosemary Pasta w/ Shrimp dish and some Clam Chowder - which she loved. I had the Jerk Chicken Quesadilla for an appetizer, a house salad, and the Blackened Mahi-Mahi Tacos - all of which were plentiful and delicious! While we didn't have any "adult" beverages, the bill came out to about $50/person, but this place is worth it. Will definitely return to try some of the other menu items - of which there are plenty to choose from.

Blackened Mahi "Oscar Style" with Bearnaise and Lump Crab

Revisited Cafe Blue a few times in 2023; decided a follow up was warranted. A nice brunch with friends awhile back and the day before Thanksgiving GF and I ventured in for a late lunch. Still one of my fave appetizers in Austin is the Thai Style Mussels with Red Curry Broth. Armed with a $150 gift card (thanks mom!) we stared with Oysters on the Half Shell, Oysters Rockefeller, and Calamari. Raw were delicious paired with CB's play on traditional minionette. Tangy flavors of green apple and jalapeno vinegar; cocktail sauce was good too. Rockefeller dish was also on point. GF doesn't like raw enjoyed the flavors of this cooked dish. Calamari was above average; perhaps the largest rings I've seen in a good while. Asian style dipping sauce was appreciated but if you're used to marinara it was there too. Yes, we ordered more food if you can believe it. Gotta blow out that gift card! My Mahi dish was prepared "Oscar Style" at my request. That's Bearnaise and Lump Crab Meat if you're in the know. Solid dish paired with requested Mashed Potatoes and Spinach. Service was attentive but there were minor issues. A table arrived after we sat down and got bread immediately; we had to ask for it. Table could have been pre bussed a bit quicker. We stared at empty appetizer plates for a good while. Prices aren't too inflated for what you get; four stars.

Food is average but some of the bartenders are rude. What ever happened to customer service?

The food is decent, atmosphere, music, hostess and bartender could be much better. The dining room is awkwardly open.

Pretty damn good food, I'd recommend the Thai muscles and any seafood. It can be busy but still a nice atmosphere for brunch or lunch.

We arrived early, mainly to have a bite to eat before the tasting. Not a whole lot of food available, so we shared a couple of sandwiches. Not great, but it hit the spot. They need more food selections! The wine tasting event was first class all the way. A Winebow distributor presentation of wines from Tuscany. Very well presented, the wines presented were very good. The presenter offered extensive knowledge of the area and wineries included in the tasting. The Wine Cellar provided a nice space, somewhat small for the number in attendance. There was a cheese and charcuterie plate on each table. Really nice was the fact that the staff opened and poured the reds about one hour before the class started, giving the bold wines a change to open up a bit before the tasting started. All in all a wonderful evening. The wines presented were all very good. The Wine Cellar has a first-class wine list, comprising some of the "best of the best" from around the world... and at reasonable prices too! Responses were a bit slow initially, but with a few follow-ups she was helpful and did a good job answering my questions and clarifying details. The atmosphere is cozy and intimate, making it a great choice for a festive gathering. Our reservation was in the evening in mid-December, so we did not get to experience the outdoor views, which I imagine are beautiful. That said, the indoor dining experience was still very pleasant. Our waitress was wonderful. She was accommodating, communicative, and professional throughout the evening. The food was tasty and well presented, and overall the group seemed happy with their selections. I ordered the bolognese. It was not the best I have had, but it also did not feel like a standout dish on the menu. I would be open to trying other options next time. Overall, we had a positive experience and would return. We are looking forward to coming back.

They have this ceiling fans open that I don't know what's the reason behind opening it when the weather is so cold. And who puts string lights close to a ceiling fan??? It was a nightmare for me and my family members.. the ceiling fan and all the outdoor dining is a big safety concern! The ceiling fan got broken after it hit the string lights and one of the propellers broke and suddenly flew to my face, luckily I saw it and just turned around but still hit my neck to shoulder area. It was a huge, thick fan propeller and I don't think people will understand this if you didn't experience or saw it in person. Everybody was in shock and panicky because no one is turning off that ceiling fan even if it was still broken and hit ME on my neck! My family had to shout a few times just so everyone is aware to turn off the ceiling fan! Compensated all of our food but it will but our life will never be the same again.. the trauma you this restaurant caused us! And I think the staff wasn't really fully trained to execute an emergency because they don't even know what to do and at the end they just offered me free wine and the calling card of who ever we need to talk incase we have future claims with them. Other than that, one of the staff members were a little bit nosy and staring at us and giving us that annoying look! And that's unacceptable and inappropriate. To conclude this, someone needs to be liable.. definitely not coming back to any restaurants named after this company in future. Luckily, the food and server was good but still not a solution to a horrible accident that could have been prevented by the staff or maintenance. Safety of customers is the top priority but they have ZERO of that yesterday! Thank God for the EMT and for my family who took care of me.

The food itself was spot on--delicious and exactly what you'd expect from a good steakhouse. However, I need to be honest about my first experience. The last time I came, I had to wait over two hours for a table. When I finally got seated, I was completely ignored for over an hour. Feeling frustrated, I left without being served. To make matters worse, I wasn't even allowed back in to speak with anyone about the issue. Not wanting to leave a one-star review based on that experience alone, I decided to give them another chance. On my recent visit, everything went much more smoothly--the food and service were excellent, and I could truly enjoy the beautiful outdoor scenery. Overall, Saltgrass Steakhouse offers fantastic food and a wonderful setting, but I hope they improve their service

We saved a drive Austin to Perry's Steakhouse, saved $100 and enjoyed it just as much or better. Less hassle, no valet parking! Family friendly; had a couple cute children across from us who were well behaved. Love the pond out back with ducks and geese. A cool place!
