My husband and I recently visited our son in Austin. We ate lunch at Plate by Dzintra (12823 Shops Parkway, Austin, TX) to celebrate his birthday. The food and service here is excellent. We loved the appetizer 'bang bang cauliflower'. They have a really nice patio but it was just too hot to eat outdoors. Maybe in the Fall. The furniture and decor has a pleasant retro vibe. There's a large bar with tv for sports fans. The prices are reasonable. Can't say enough about the young ladies that took care of our group - Rachael and Maddy. We really enjoyed eating here. Had a Mother's Day Brunch here. I enjoy the ambience, good food, and service here. They also have pretty good cocktails and food specials.

It was lunchtime and I needed to treat myself to something a little bit different so I decided to wander off across the street and found this lovely space. It's quite dainty and nicely set up for floor plan. I was able to order a sandwich and soup, which was quite filling and not too heavy. The service was quite in the moment where they spoke very softly, but could still hear and understand everything that was happening. The interior is classy and pleasant. The food, while on the higher side price-wise, is made with quality ingredients and is absolutely delicious. I really enjoyed the Ahi Tuna Appetizer ($30) and the Alaskan Halibut Piccata ($45). The Alaskan Halibut is a large piece of fresh halibut (no fishy fish here!) served on a bed of fluffy rice and drenched in a rich, buttery sauce. Apparently, the menu rotates based on the season. I really wanted to like this place. Online the menu looks great and so does the restaurant. Unfortunately that is not the case. We walked in and were greeted. It was not very busy. After being sat we waited at least 10 minutes before someone came to bring water and the drink menu. We then waited at least another 5-10 mins to order the drinks and food. The drinks then took another 10 minutes to come out. There was something in one of our drinks, i had to go to the bar to let them know and they remade the drink. We ended up canceling our food order because of the wait. For reference we got there around 12:05 and we left at 12:50. We had only ordered a salad and a breakfast sandwich. I would highly recommend anywhere but here in Bee Cave. read more

Tonight we returned to this restaurant to try out their risotto with scallops and their braised beef ribs. The restaurant is very nice; think upscale restaurant. It wasn't very busy tonight, and so we assumed we would have excellent service. Well, apparently we were wrong. While at the beginning, our server was very attentive, but then was not, and it still took a while to have us get refills of water and wine. We ordered the chicken lettuce spoons to start, followed by the risotto with scallops, and the braised beef ribs. The food is always excellent. However, we did notice that our bill reflected a higher price than the menu price for the risotto. Our experience this time was a bit disappointing because the service was not at five stars as we expected. However, don't let this deter you from this restaurant, this restaurant usually provides a five star dining experience to it. So if you're in the bee cave area of Texas, consider this restaurant. read more

I want to be very clear I know my way around a kitchen and know cuts of meat. My wife and I went in around Christmas of 2025. I ordered the braised short ribs. While the food was good it was not short ribs it was chuck roll aka pot roast. This meal is around $44.00. I brought to the attention of assistant manager and was basically blown off. We had a gift card from a client that was for a larger amount. I was so unhappy with the attitude of the assistant manager that I left the remaining amount of the of the gift card as a tip for the service from the waiter.$150.00. He was awesome and we didn't have any interest in going back. I then was able to speak with GM by phone and let her know about our experience. She apologized and said her head chef was on maturity leave with his wife and there must have been a mistake. She then gave us another $50 gift certificate. We decided to give it another shot this evening. I ordered the same meal out of curiosity. I even tried to confirm with the waitress that it was boneless short rib and not pot roast. She assured me me it was. When the meal came out it was still pot roast. When I brought to the AGMs attention and explained the prior experience she informed me it was their version of boneless short rib and people like it. I am not saying the food did not taste good. What I am very much irritated about is they are charging for higher cost cut of beef and providing something I can make in a crockpot. If so many people like it, why not say it's chuck roll or pot roast. I feel it is dishonest. We will not be going back. read more

First time here, met a friend on a Friday evening. Wasn't too busy, probably a little more than half full here. Seated in the back. Service here is friendly and accommodating, but slow overall. It literally took more than 45 min for us to get our food, which was double the time we expected. We were told twice along the way that our food would be out in a few, but left waiting for extended periods of time. First time we were told this the server disappeared for 15-20 min. Then someone else came and said it was coming, and then we heard nothing back for at least another 15 min. We were hangry. Food came and it was good, but no wow-factor and nothing out of this world to match the premium pricing. Risotto w/ halibut was luke warm, tasted good but not the best I've ever had, yet still respectable but didn't live up to the $46ish price tag. She was fine with her beef dish. The fries were good too but nothing fabulous as they boasted about how it is cooked and oversold it to us. Like I said - good but nothing phenomenal. In the end we got to-go boxes, and we were going our separate ways, so the waitress divided up the bags and insisted she knew who's boxes belonged to who but she screwed up. I got both main entrees, she got just the sides - lol - and she texted me later she was ticked off because she wanted that beef for breakfast. Oh well, sh*t happens. Delayed service, over promised and under delivered, respectable food that doesn't live up to the high price point was the theme here. For the price tag north of $185 for just 2 people (including 2 coffee drinks and a $4 flat diet coke + tip) I felt this was a severely underwhelming experience. Kind of a sticker shock to me as I felt it was way overpriced for what we had, and would have felt more pleased had the bill been at least 30% less. Coupled w/ the severe delays and no service recovery attempts for the long gaps that's why this is a 2-star "It Could Have Been Better" rating. My first time here and I will not be going out of my way to come back here for super premium prices that lacked a wow-factor and under delivered. read more

Thanks to Matthew for inviting me to sit in and sing tonight with the trio. The ambience, food, drinks and live music made for a delightful evening. Highly recommend the scallops (saying this as a Seattleite) which were done to absolute perfection, seared with that ideal caramelized texture on the outside and succulent inside. Also recommend the macadamia encrusted chicken... and I rarely get chicken when fine dining out, so glad I broke my rule. We finished with what can only be described as heavenly coconut cake that was sinfully so good! The chef clearly knows her trade? We'll be back for sure! read more

Nearly everything appeared to be packaged, frozen food that had been reheated and "dressed up" with sauces and side salads. If you're going to use frozen items, lower your prices. Just happened to see little gem while shopping. We stopped to get a bite to eat and the place was spectacular. It looks and feels expensive and it is! But well worth the money! Some places are expensive just to be expensive but here the food is expensive because of the quality! I cannot say enough about the food! Holy smokes it was amazing. Let me add, the bakery had bread pudding that was so good I will be going back for more. Bread pudding is notoriously heavy but this bread pudding was exemplary! Our server was Ray. Called in the order to be picked up. I was extremely disappointing. It had the salmon which was dry, and the veggie melody seem like it was frozen or out of a can the Polenta was awful very salty. Went here for my mother in law's birthday, and overall really enjoyed the experience. The ambience is great, I love an interior with a personality, and this certainly has one. Beautiful, upscale, but with enough bling that it doesn't take itself too seriously. Definitely the kind of place you could get dressed up for, but it's Austin so most people were dressed casually. Live music the night we were there, which is a nice touch, although I found it a bit too loud. I could see though where others wouldn't find that to be the case. The food was really good (although nothing was absolutely perfect). Beautiful plating though, I can't remember the last time I had such a pretty meal. Fall Harvest Cornicopia Salad: Really good, perfect knife cuts on all the veggies, you can tell the chef has some technical skills. But, it's not fall, it's winter (almost spring), and I think that's the reason the corn wasn't very flavorful, and the butter lettuce was a tad bitter. Excellent dressing though, and probably the most flavorful feta I have ever had, so overall enjoyed the salad. Roasted Pork Bao Buns: The pork was excellent, tender, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. But the bun itself was a little doughy, and somehow the ratio of pork to toppings was off. I probably wouldn't order this again, instead next time I think I'd go for the Singapore Crispy Pork, just based on the way the pork in the bao buns was so perfectly cooked. Short Rib Grilled Cheese: Excellent, perfectly toasted and buttered bread, flavorful cheese, good ratio of cheese to meat, nice hint of heat. My only complaint on the sandwich is the pickle really added a nice hint of acid to the sandwich, so I'd rather see pickle slices on the sandwich, vs a pickle spear on the side. (Minor complaint though, maybe a lot of people would rather see it on the side.) The onion rings were great - perfectly coated, perfectly cooked. If they had been hit with a pinch of salt when they came out of the fryer, they would have been absolutely perfect. Flourless Chocolate Truffle Cake: Really good, although definitely more of a candy bar texture vs a cake (not necessarily a problem, just not what I was expecting). So, a few things that keep it from being a perfect 5 star meal, but overall really good, great ambience and beautiful plating, and I would definitely go back. read more

This was my first visit to Plate by Dzintra. I've seen it but always thought it was a catering business. On a whim my husband and I decided to try it. Luckily we were able to get a table for two right away, even though it was very busy. My French 75 was delicious and served promptly. My husband had two different drinks and wasn't overly impressed with either of them. We started with the pork belly and it was amazing! The crisp when you bit into it was perfect. I've never had any that was that good before. So we'll done chef! My lasagna was ok...I'm more of a cheese lasagna person, so I wouldn't order it again. However, if you are a meat lasagna lover, it's for you! My husband had the pork chop and said it was good too. We were very full and happy when we left, so that in my book is a very successful dinner! read more

I'm not sure why it took me so long to try this place. It took a business dinner to get me there. Maybe it's because it's kind of in a hidden location and the outside of it isn't very alluring. First I ordered the Beet and Goat Cheese salad. Admittedly, I don't usually finish my salad starters but I ate the entire thing and I would have licked the plate too if it was socially acceptable. :p For my drink, I had the Anejo Old Fashioned and it was so good that I got a 2nd one! It was a delicious twist to a regular Old Fashioned and I'm all about it. For dinner I had the lasagna. I know when you see lasagna on a menu it seems like a "basic" thing to order, but it was really good! Finally, for dessert, ordered the seasonal peach crostana and it was good too! Service was great! Went last night with a small group. Very pleasant atmosphere and great services with smiles. But, quite pricey. Was going to get a bottle or glass of wine, but $15-22 per glass for Oregon or Cali wine seemed excessive. Wife had two glasses chard and were $15 each. I had what I thought was a dinner salad, and it was nice, tasty but overpriced too. She had a single pork chop with a few veggies. No bread or starch, a big cut of pig, and think it was $22. The entire dinner cost $105 including a tip. Good food but not great value, IMO. read more

We also got the fried risotto chip appetizer (can't remember the name) and that was amazing as well All in all if you're going to eat at Plate please dine it!! Plate by Dzintra, we finally meet! My fiancé and I pass by this restaurant every time we run errands in the area and have always been intrigued by its impressive menu and somewhat peculiar location (right next to a Best Buy, lol). For about $120 (pre-tip), we ordered two entrees and two drinks. The cocktails were fantastic: the Manhattan was perfectly smooth and The Last Word was very well-balanced. The dishes fell a bit short of our expectations: the Scallop Risotto was quite plain and the New York Strip was way too salty. I was also pretty disappointed in the vegetables and fries that came with the steak-- they tasted like what you'd find at the frozen aisle. If you're gonna ball out on food, I'd try something else... Last thing of note, the bathroom was a bit odd. With the rest of the restaurant being so clean and meticulously decorated, I was perplexed by the old hand soap bottles that covered the counter, the cabinet of half-used perfumes, and random trinkets that looked to be from grandma's house. Not sure if we'll return for another meal, but we're definitely interested in coming back for the bar or the cafe! read more

A nice surprise tonight having dinner here. We had a party of 5 and were seated immediately, although we did have reservations. I love the swanky decor inside. Very pretty with the plush velvet chairs, chandeliers and bar area. Staff was very prompt and super friendly. I love how their menu has a lot of options for both apps and main meals. I personally went with a few apps as my choice for dinner rather than one big meal. The broccoli soup was delish to start. Then went with the appetizer portion risotto and the beet salad as my meal. Both were very tasty. The risotto is a little heavy so that size portion was perfect. The scallop was cooked good as well. Has to try the Not your grandmothers cake and it was great. It was Not too chocolaty and it was moist yet fluffy. This is a great place for a date night as well or night out for a drink. We had lunch there. I had tomato soup that also had chicken and potatoes. Very unusual, but very delicious. The server recommended that, combined with a half short rib grilled cheese sandwich. It was a great combination. It seemed a little expensive, but the quiet pleasant ambiance, service, and quality seemed to justify it. We agreed we would definitely come back. I love this place! Vibe: As you can see in the photos the natural- looking atmosphere makes you feel relaxed as you sit down. The restroom was also so cute and had a cabinet with a hairbrush, and perfumes you can try on! Food: Wine was amazing, and food was excellent too! We ordered steak and shrimp pasta. Steak was great, a little bit salty for me and I preferred the pasta dish so we swapped :) plenty of food! Service: The only downside I would have to say was the service. Nobody came to our table for 10 minutes (not so busy) and we weren't really sure what we were supposed to do. When we finally asked someone if there will be someone serving us, a waitress came and said that would be her. She didn't seem very friendly, but we didn't mind that much and I also think she seemed new. Towards the end a friendly male staff came to us and asked about food, and greeted us goodbye as we were leaving which was sweet of him. So I'm keeping the 5star review. My partner told me that usually, they serve customers straight away so I guess it was just a small hiccup for this time only! I highly recommend this place :) read more
