We stayed down town and was referred to Geraldine's. It was worth a little trip from the city. This is a cute little spot and a bustling street. The service was top notch and the food was amazing. It was like my grandma was in the back cooking. It's a must when in Seattle for brunch or breakfast. read more

Yuuuuuuuummmmmyyyy! All the food is house made. The flavor is delicious and service is amazing.

Hands down the best french toast. So crispy and thick. A half order of two pieces is perfect portions for me. Hubs ordered the corned beef. The beef chunks were sizeable and the flavor was good. Only thing that could make it better was if the potatoes were crispier. All the staff was so friendly! read more

I found this place on Yelp as I was planning my Seattle weekend trip. Was attracted by its amazing reviews and the food itself. Arrived on a Saturday morning around 10:30 and was seated within 10 minutes. Granted I was by myself and took a counter seat. But just observing the flow of the restaurant and the swiftness of the workers to get the table ready for the next customers is pretty amazing. I'm grateful to see such a sight. They're also very attentive to what you need, whether it's a water or coffee refill or more sugar/cream for your coffee. Now let's get to the food. OH. MY. GAHHH. Even if this is the first meal I've eaten in Seattle, it's one to top. The food was on point as well as the flavors. I ordered the avo, egg, & arugula (subbed bacon for avo) with tater tots with truffle salt (subbed hash brown for tots for a well worth it small price). My mouth is still watering thinking about the food. The tots were fried to a crispy perfection and season with the right amount of truffle salt. The sandwich was amazing just how everything worked well together, flavor wise. After I ordered, I read more about the French toast and second guessed my order choice, so I went for it and ordered a half order just to try it. This was as good as the reviews mentioned! The crunch added to the French toast that already had good flavors. They were topped with honey soaked peaches. The syrup isn't truly needed, but is an extra flavor that also goes well with the French toast. read more

The best breakfast in Seattle. I think I've had most thinks I'm the menu and I've always been very happy with my food and the service.

I love breakfast foods, especially good, delicious and fluffy pancakes. Geraldine's is one of my favorite, favorite spots to just that. Brought my sister here since she's visiting and I warned her that we might have to wait since it is the day after Thanksgiving. For the two of us it wasn't that long. Geraldine's is your neighborhood diner serving you yummy comfort food that is made from local ingredients even the eggs! The staff is friendly and upbeat. Despite it always being busy, it's always the same great service and food always hot and delish. They feature the pancakes of the day and sometimes by the season. During October they have the best Pumpkin pancakes Today I had the Slammin' which is two eggs any way, your choice of pork sausage patty, chicken sausage or bacon, with the Pancakes of the Day - Lemon Ricotta!! I've had them before and they are to die for!!! You must get them! Any of the dishes are always so good. Another popular item of theirs is their French toast which they deep fry so it's crispy - if you like it that way. You'll never have an empty cup of coffee, plenty of refills. This is always on my go to and worth the wait for some down home, and GOOD, breakfast food. Also love the BLT . Enjoy!! Eat plenty! And share! read more

Food is delicious, service was very quick, plus the overall ambiance of the place is great! Highly recommend!

We had time to kill before our flight so we road the light rail to Columbia City. What a cute town. Found Geraldine's Counter on the way for breakfast. There was a little wait, but the service was tremendous and we met some very nice local people while waiting. This place is worth the wait. Get the French toast. It's crazy good. It is a thick, crunchy bread with fresh fruit on top. I loved every bite. The fresh orange juice is also lovely. Our waitress, Rain couldn't be more friendly and attentive. I can't say enough good things about this place. read more

My best friend and I came here for lunch to catch up and was greeted by a wonderful waiter that i am sad I didn't get their name. We had the chicken fried steak and eggs and it was delicious, we also paired it with cranberry and orange mimosas. Though the restaurant is at a corner and appears to be small from the outside, I did not feel cramped at all and was able to enjoy our conversation comfortably. read more

Geraldine's Counter is everything an upscale diner experience should be. It's busy with hardworking and friendly staff. The food is wonderfully familiar diner staples with a touch of flavorful creativity and very deliberate execution. I go to Geraldine's regularly and each time I order a dish it's always been exactly as good as it was the last time. The sausage gravy is the closest I've had to my grandmother's. Made with real milk and sage, it has a rich depth of flavor. Whether on flaky biscuits, savory chicken fried steak, or as a side to pour on your Seattle Scramble (my favorite) it is a must have at Geraldine's. And don't forget the daily special sweet breakfast item! Lemon ricotta pancakes are *chef's kiss* read more

With all the good reviews, we had to check out Geraldine's Counter on our way home from downtown Seattle! We stopped in around 1130 on a Monday and we were seated right away. It was crowded, but the service was fast and friendly. The menu has a wide variety of breakfast options, which are served all day, as well as a lunch menu. Prices ranged from $10-$14 for most plates, which isn't too bad. They also serve beer and wine if you feel like getting saucy at brunch. The food was really tasty and the portion sizes were good. It was a little noisy inside, but that's to be expected at most breakfast places. read more

Love the staff, love the food, and go there regularly. Helpful hint... get there early or plan to wait, and probably you'll wait outside, so for goodness sake, dress for the weather. The restaurant is open and completely covered with hard surfaces, so it's noisy and might be a challenge for people with noise sensitivity or who have hearing challenges when there is cacaphony around them. My one food complaint is from the day I ordered french toast. It was not the egg-soaked bread I was expecting. It was more like very hard texas toast croutons with fruit on them, but not in a good way. It's the only time they've ever gotten it wrong for me, though. read more

Get the French toast! Either as a side or as the main dish. The staff is really super nice!

I was driving around with a friend looking for breakfast before our test. We passed by Geraldine's and I knew I had to stop. After driving past it a few times, seeing tons of people inside enjoying their food and people outside waiting to be seated, I knew it was a good place to eat. Not much space inside, I noticed there are some tables that can hold a large group, to a two seater table. We placed our name on the wait list, and about 10-15 minutes later we were seated, not bad for a very busy place. I ordered pancakes and chicken sausage with egg.... The pancakes were honey orange flavored and I nearly fell to the floor in deliciousness.... They were fluffy, the flavor wasn't over powering and the sausage was a great compliment. My eggs weren't dry, cooked scrambled and just right. I also had some of their freshly squeezed orange juice, which was also fab. My friend ordered the herbed egg omelet. I was given the chance to try some, and it was good considering there wasn't any meat involved. Overall, our experience at Geraldine's was amazing and being from Puyallup, it is hard to make the trek up to have breakfast there. But I would love to come back and try their other dishes!!! read more

Cute spot in Columbia City. Daisies in glass vases on table tops. Exposed bricks on one wall, bright colors on another. Also, extra points for playing 90s R&B! Doesn't particularly fit the decor of this place, but reminds me of my days growing up :) Busy spot though, so expect a wait for weekend mornings, but that's the same for all the other brunch places in town. Food: I used to always get the Corned Beef Hash. It's chunks of beef as opposed to ground up meat. I also like the Geraldine's Casserole. Biscuits and Gravy was just ok though, wouldn't get again. They serve hash browns here! Yay! For some reason, a lot of places I've been to lately don't. It's always just "potatoes." The food is def more traditional brunch-type of foods, but better quality/presentation than a diner. Prices: Right around $9-$10 per brunch entree. Very reasonable. This should be NORMAL, but a lot of other places (non-diners) charge a few dollars more, and then of course a handful that dip into the mid to high teens, which is kinda hefty for a brunch, in my opinion. Not that it stops me from going...sigh. haha. read more

Great spot for breakfast! My boyfriend and I ate here while on vacation and we ordered the sausage gravy, bacon egg and arugula sandwich and a side of the French toast. The French toast was the star of the breakfast-not sure what type of bread was used, but it was sooo crunchy and flavorful and served with a berry compote that just added to the delight. The prices were quite high for such simple breakfast staples, but our food was hearty and tasted super fresh; this meal certainly made our morning. read more

They claim to have the best french toast in Seattle and I believe it!! The french toast which comes with a topping of the day, is amaaaaaazing! I want to know what kind of bread they use - it's very airy, and it's been perfectly fried and has this perfect crunch. The day my friend and I went for brunch, the topping of the day was honey peaches and it was sweet and went well with the toast, especially when we drizzled that maple syrup over it. In addition to the french toast, we also ordered the corned beef hash, which is one of my favorite brunch dishes. This was also really good and it seemed like a "healthy" version of corned beef hash - the meat came in little cubes and there was butternut squash in addition to the traditional potatoes and onions, which was a tasty addition. The dish wasn't all that greasy either, thus why I thought it tasted healthier than your average corned beef hash. The french toast was the clear winner of this brunch. You can actually get just a half order for the french toast, but trust me, you'll get the full order. You will savor every last bite of it. I'm still dreaming about it and can't wait for the next time I go to Geraldine's to get more! Also customer service is great. We had to wait about 15 minutes for a table, but that wasn't bad at all, given it was Saturday brunch time! Our server was great and came by often to check up on us and make sure our water glasses were full! read more

Their breakfasts and brunch items are fresh and tasty. Their corned beef sandwich was so good with a side of chili!

A sweet and light start to the morning! My first time here. I would've liked a little more herb flavour in the scramble. Their claim to the best French toast is 100% validated, never had anything quite like it. I'd recommend the half order. My fiancé and I split it. read more

This place took an average of 30-40minute wait. I'm from Miami, FL so this is normal for Sunday crunching. The staff was friendly and efficient. And our server was super cool. He really knew the menu and was patient with our indecisive minds - always checking in. WHAT WE ORDERED - blueberry pancake - egg and sausage casserole - French toast****** FAVORITE I mean... that French toast left us wanting SO much more. And we devoured the casserole. It was a bit low in salt, but I think that's fine because it left us to season it how we like -- with hot sauce and salt lol The luck de Gallo on top gave it more flavor as well. I love blueberry pancakes and order them everywhere I go for breakfast. These were fine. It was a protein pancake so not the same. But did I mention the French toast?? Big fan, definitely will be back. read more

I recently went here for my brothers birthday, per my suggestion. Geraldine's has become my new favorite breakfast/brunch spot within the past year and I go every chance I get. I am not really into sweet breakfasts, like pancakes, waffles, etc, but their French toast is the best I have ever had and I get it every time-- it's like nothing I have ever had. I always tell people I am with to try it and they end up loving it too! read more

OK Geraldine girl!! What a solid brunch spot! My friend/old roommate finally got together to catch up! We ordered french toast and the avocado onion/tomato omelette and just split it! I love french toast and one of the reasons why I ordered this was bc it seems to be a hot pick according to reviews and I'm going to add on to it! It has a nice crunch to it and it's (not too) buttery! I've never had french toast like that... deeeeelish! The omelette was super tasty also - it came with hash! They don't take reservations so expect to wait 20+ minutes. Most likely be longer with a larger party - especially on the weekends (prime time 11-1pm) Get Brunchin' at Geraldine's! read more

BEST BREAKFAST SPOT IN SEATTLE! We found this spot on Yelp, and we were lured in by their great reviews. Joe was our server, we sat at the famous counter. We were seated in less than 10 minutes of arriving. I ordered the breakfast arugula sandwich with avocado, and my boyfriend ordered the chicken fried steak. Both items came out fairly quickly! They have some cool original Geraldine's Counter Art above the window you can look at while you wait for your food. Everyone is extremely friendly and helpful here. Such a nice ambiance. Wow. Just wow. I went in Saturday morning, around 1:30, ready to eat. I've read reviews and friends shared their reviews, but reviews don't do this place justice...just as this one won't. As soon I get in, I could feel the great energy. Everyone was so polite and helpful. After about a minute I got seated at the counter. I got my drinks and food super fast. Now to the food...my goodness. I ordered their signature French toast, OJ, sides of thick bacon, pork patty, and chicken sausage. Let me start with the sides and work my way up. The bacon was delicious and cooked just right, moist yet crunchy. The pork patty was juicy and flavorful. The chicken sausage...man this was the best of all, sweet yet savory. Now to the king of French Toasts. I've never had French toast like this before, I won't spoil the secret but the ingredients and the way it's cooked is something my taste buds never experienced before eating French toast. To top it off, the special topping of the day was banana!! Crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside! I'll be back for sure before I move out of Seattle. I've found my breakfast spot every time I visit this city in the future. Special thanks to the lady server who calls everyone sweetheart and honey, makes you feel like you're home. To the cooks in the back, especially the lady wearing the Nike shirt. And especially to Robert (glad I got his name), he was the best, made the entire experience with his service and mannerism! read more

I visit Geraldine's about once a month and the food is always consistently great! I am so grossed out by this place we got sat on the counter cuz tables were taken and that would have been fine if I didn't have a front row seat to all the servers who NEVER washed their hands. I watched every server buss their tables, dump food in the trash, put the plates in the dish bins, wipe their hands on their pants and then proceed to ring in orders and grab drinks. I kept seeing the short haired server wipe her hands on her shirt and ran food. I saw a gentlemen put back a honey packet from a dirty table to a container with CLEAN honey packets. Our server had the greasiest hair that was all over the place, you couldn't have tied it up? People sit at the counter and all you disgusting servers couldn't have washed your hands knowing people are watching??? Does it not bother you that you got stuff on your hands and then you're touching the computers to ring in food?? All of you need to re-take your food learners permit classes cuz none of you should have passed. Dirty ass place. read more

First time here. My bad for thinking they had a few different pancakes every day when they only have one and that's the special. It was apple, which is not my fave. My waitperson suggested I call to see what the flavor of the day is. That said, I live 15 miles from Geraldine's so it's not like a hop, skip and a jump from where I live. But back to breakfast. I ordered biscuits and gravy with soft scrambled eggs. Here's the pros. The atmosphere was inviting, the workers were very nice and the food arrived piping hot. I almost want to say the hash browns were the highlight of the breakfast which is rather sad. They were crunchy on top and very tender inside. The cons. A little heavy-handed on the sage (don't think it was rosemary) in the gravy, not as much sausage in today's gravy as I've seen in other pictures though still very good, you could have bounced my scrambled eggs they were that rubbery and hard. I don't know how you order a soft scrambled egg and end up with this consistency when I could tell that clearly they weren't overdone. read more

Very friendly and attentive staff. Plenty of street parking in the surrounding neighborhoods. Wait time for a table of 3 on the Sunday we went was only 15 minutes. We shared orders of the truffle salt tater tots, mozzarella sticks, french toast, chicken fried steak, and pancakes all for $52. The tater tots are a must-try and the mozzarella sticks were light and crispy. Their famous french toast is the most crispy french toast I've ever tried. Very buttery. No questions on why it's the star dish of this place. The pancakes come with a rotating special topping. The special that day was lemon ricotta which had a really deep lemon flavor. They had a lemon-strawberry sauce on the side that paired well with it as well. While all of those were great, the chicken fried steak was pretty disappointing. Although the generous sausage to gravy ratio was nice, it wasn't enough to offset the small portion and bland flavor. For $14, I would prefer other locations. All in all, this spot is definitely a good option for breakfast/brunch. Skip the chicken fried steak but definitely get the french toast and ask for the rotating pancake topping. read more

Second time visiting and just as great as the first. Service is top notch, food is fab, great vibe. Love the biscuit and freezer jam!

A+ breakfast diner doing the basics exceedingly well. They change their pancake recipe and toppings daily. Some days you'll get a lemon ricotta pancake, other days you'll get a sour cream pancake. Today, I got regular buttermilk pancakes with blueberry butter. One of our servers told me these are her least favorite, yet they were the best pancakes I've had in a very long time. So, evidently you're in good shape no matter what recipe you end up with. They serve classic, dark, diner-style coffee, and they do a great job of keeping you topped off. Very welcoming staff. All around fantastic spot. Our new favorite. Oh, and the bacon is killer. Thick and juicy. read more

The food is great and the restaurant is clean. All the ingredients taste fresh. Sometimes you have to wait for a spot so make plans to go during the week or close to closing time. Only one downside....terrible coffee and no choices besides drip. Make coffee at home and come on down for breakfast. read more

Lovely little spot perfect for brunch or lunch! Came on a Friday morning and was surprised to find them full of people, which is always a good sign! We were seated quickly despite the crowd and ordered promptly. Our food took awhile to come out, but was well worth the wait! I ordered a chai tea along with the herbed omelette which comes with hash browns and a toast option (I requested a biscuit because they looked/smelled so amazing). The omelette was amazing. Mouthwateringly smooth goat cheese folded into perfectly cooked eggs with crispy salty hash browns on the side The biscuit blew me away, and I can honestly say it is the best I've ever had!! Topped with butter and generously slathered with the table side jam, that biscuit will stay in my memory for a long time. I will definitely be attempting to recreate its buttery softness in my kitchen soon! If you visit Seattle and have tastebuds you must go here! read more
