The food was quick and tasted good. The sauce was served in separate cups so you could how much you wanted of yum yum or ginger. I liked that they offered tofu so there was a vegan option, just be aware the fried rice does have egg. The decor was also cute as it had a manga design. I will say it was weird that the food was packaged as to go even when you ate in. I took off a star as all of the packages were plastic, and it was type 6 mostly so not recyclable very easily. It's been almost nine months now - I've come back a couple times. What I've found - the dinner times were when I would encounter most problems, but lunch time was always spot on. I also stopped doing delivery, and opted for pick-up. Dinner was iffy, it felt like they rushed to complete the order so it was kind of... sloppy. You know - not exactly a prepped bowl, but more "JUST THROW IT IN AND GO TO THE NEXT!" So - their lunch crew is clearly killing it - well packaged, survived the drive home, and was ready and waiting when I went to pick it up. It was fresh enough (I mean, I drove home with it), and it was seasoned and honestly, I almost debated throwing it in the fridge and reheating it for that "second-sampling" hibachi experience (I don't know, reheated hibachi just hits differently). I was a bit put off by the low reviews, but went because it was handy, and had a great experience. It's tiny, and does a lot of to-go business, but I ate in. Great service, nice enough place. I had chicken and steak. You get the one veggie, and I added one, for a little health food: zucchini and sprouts. There was plenty of everything, seasoned nicely. Perfectly cooked veggies and meats. Total lack of give a damn , stare through you taking your order, discussing when the next break was with another coworker and having to start the order all over again because of no priority being given to the task at hand. Not a smile, not a "thank you", nothing. The floor in the dining area was sticky, the table tops were all sticky and had food on them. The cleanest surface in the place was the one high top table. Genjigo is a great little takeout place for fast, affordable Japanese stir fry. Good for gluten-free, meat eaters or vegetarian diets. I was very exited when I saw this new location on my side of town. I have eaten at both sit down Genji restaurants and have eaten at the east side Main Street Genji Go location. I have always been a fan of Genji. I am sad to say I was disappointed with this new location after my first visit. The service was lack luster, the portions weren't what they usually are, and the yum yum sauce was runny and didn't taste like yum yum normally tastes. The food was just simply not up to Genji standards and after spending $50.00 on dinner for my family I expected it to be what I'm used to. I hope this is just an issue of this being a new location and they will have better service and quality in the future. Skip Gengi Go. They have 9 bar stools that face a wall; ONE table with two chairs... Clearly, they don't want you to stay. Food is always cold/pre-made and the nickel and dime you for everything ($1.00/vegetable; $1.00 per Yum Yum Sauce). And no water in the soda machine! My kids brought in their own water bottles-- You have to buy a bottled water for $1.75. Family behind us had to hold a baby on their lap while eating at the bar (b/c only one table). Cheap, greedy owner!!! If I'm going to pay this much for salty, Japanese Steakhouse food, might as well go to the real thing. So unfortunate as I really, really want to love this place :-( Update as of 11/17/15: this place took pieces of paper and covered up their old menu prices to raise prices. Shady. I eagerly awaited the opening of Gengi Go as I've heard great things about Genji from multiple friends & family and this would put Japanese Hibachi even closer to home. I stopped in on 05/02/14 after driving by and seeing the open sign finally on. I had the steak & shrimp combo with fried rice, zuchinni, onions, mushrooms and fried rice with a fountain drink for lunch. Service was quick and the food was excellent. Cost was around $17 which is much more than I would normally spend for lunch but it was well worth it. I was in and out in around 5 minutes and you have the option to dine in at a bar along the wall if you wish. The container for carrying the food was a nice plastic container that could be washed and re-used if one wished. The Yum Yum sauce that I've heard so much about lived up to all the hype as well. We spend over 50 dollars every time we go to Gengigo in Lewis Center. The manager checked us out today 1/1/2021. He offered the people in front of us free drinks. When my wife asked for ice water he wanted a dollar a glass. He also did not give us one of our sauces. My wife called back and he did not offer to replace it. With the price so high for such cheap food this manager's attitude will cause us to not purchase anything from this store ever again. read more
