    Empanadas
    Laura Elaine B.

My husband stopped in a few weeks ago and hasn't stopped talking about the empanadas. We were looking for a pickup option this week and decided on Cactus since I hadn't tried it yet. I am gluten free and was thrilled to be able to select from a variety of options (not just salad ). We called our order in and I confirmed gluten free options. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I arrived to pick up our order, I was greeted warmly and was impressed with the decor and set up.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The inside is much bigger than I expected![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food was fantastic and I can't wait to try every arepa option on the menu!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Hidden away in UDF Parking lot, Cactus has lots of internal space and seating, as well as an efficient carry out business.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Tried it for the first time over the holidays and was pleasantly surprised. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Plenty of parking, friendly service, and good food quality.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I did carryout and tried one of their chicken, rice and beans lunch specials. I would recommend you try this, just for something different. Look forward to trying it for Dinner.

I had the grilled chicken arepa and it was good but not quite amazing. The grilled chicken was really great and in abundance and the green sauce on it was also very good but I was hoping for some melty white cheese and it had a cold, thick slice of a bland mozzarella type of cheese on it. It could have used some lettuce or pico or a bean spread too. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The service was great and it's a nice looking place.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I will go back again for lunch and maybe try something different.

Food is super incredible! My husband is Venezuelan and we come here when he craves food from home. We also ordered their pan de jamón for Christmas and it was truly soooo delicious. The waiters are also super nice and friendly. We love coming here

Unique S. American menu, very tasty food in plentiful quantities. Very friendly and helpful service made for a very pleasant meal for three of us.

Nice fairly new Venezuelan restaurant. Good food, friendly service. Arepa was tasty, empanadas were different than I'm used to (Argentinian style). Dough is more cornmeal ish, but very tasty. Would return

So this used to be Pablo's a very good Cuban restaurant. With that said it's now "latin" food. After living in FL on the Gulf coast for 18 years I got to know Cuban and Latin food pretty well. The plantains here have Parmesan grated on them... not once have I ever seen that and for me not a good combo. The chirrasco was good but the chimminchurri sauce seemed a bit bland. The chicken fingers my partner ordered were on the kids menu and came out over cooked. The black beans and rice were ok. The best part of the meal was the cicerone's (fried pork belly/ pork rinds) which tasted like they usually do though the portion was small.

Churrasco with rice and black beans

Like Brian said, this place replaced Pablo's but I think the food is better and the remodeling looks great. Portions are large and the churrasco was some of the best food I've had in Powell. Service is A+!

Pretty solid it's just in a weird spot. They need a new place with a patio. Food is well executed and the prices are reasonable.

Amazing food. You need to try the Churrasco and the Cachapa. Some of the best Latin food I have had in Columbus.

Knowing the power that online reviews can have and taking some experiences with a grain of salt…read morehere and there because sometimes you hit that one off day where maybe a place that's normally epic just doesn't quite have their stuff together, I find that I end up giving 5 stars in a range that goes from "really good" to "Michelin needs to stop in here (or already has)." This is definitely on the latter end of the spectrum. I popped in here tonight for a late dinner (830ish on a Saturday) to find the place relatively busy but with plenty of open seats. The decor was a nice mix of dark and light with the bright green accents plus a big screen TV cycling tropical getaways (I assume from places in Latin America). I was seated and tended to quickly by a hostess and server, respectively. I got my order in for a coconut mojito and a chicharron arepa right away. My mojito came shortly thereafter with my arepa not long after that. The mojito, as you can see, was garnished with a generous amount of shredded coconut on top and was heavier and creamier than a normal mojito, lighter on the mint flavor and pushing closer to a piña colada than a mojito. All in all though, still quite a refreshing drink after a hot and humid day. The arepa though was really the star of the show. The flavors and textures and everything about it were just mind-blowing. The handmade cheese, the incredibly seasoned and cooked pork, and the crispy arepa were all just *BOOM*. The avocado had a little bit of surface darkness on the one end that could have been polished up a little bit but not the end of the world. One I finished with these, I waited patiently for a while for my server to come back but alas I had to pop up to the bar to get my caipirinha. This version was slightly sweeter than some versions I've had and I don't mind sweet, but just be aware for those who may be considering it. Eventually, my server came back and apologized for being gone so long as she was conversing with her boss. Like I said... grain of salt. Aside from a minor inconvenience of having to walk 10 feet to the bar myself, this place absolutely blew me away and I will absolutely come back if I ever find myself in town again. Bonus points for having gluten and allergen callouts on their normal menu as well!

Every day they have specials and it was drink special day so we all decided to treat ourselves with some fun cocktails, they had a great selection and my Caipirinha was delicious! Another friend also got an arepa she loved, and another got bandeja paisa which she loved but couldn't finish. Love the decor and ambiance in there, it's really lovely, and we were well looked after by our waitress. Definitely recommend!

It is next to a plasma place and what might be a market. If you're coming off Cleveland or 161, look for the car repair place and it is straight back from there. They said it's been here two years, but in the three months I've been a fairly regular visitor to the area I've never noticed it. Step inside, and it's nothing fancy, but with lots of comfy booths and tables. A drink cooler off to the side with Mexican Coke, etc. Small menu with the basics (I should have taken a picture of that.) Beef, shrimp, fried plantains, etc. Some breakfast items and pastries. I went with carne azada. Strips of beef, marinated and grilled, and probably the best I've had. Sided with a mix of rice and beans that was pretty good, pico de gallo, excellent guacamole, a roasted pepper, and perfect, hot and fresh corn tortillas. Wrap it all up or eat it individually, it's great either way. Great food, at a decent price, in a non-descript place. Service was stand-offish at first for someone clearly not a regular, but as I wolfed down the food and smiled, they warmed up. I'll be back.

I've had plantains in the past, but these were certainly the best I've tried. For entrees, we went with arroz con pollo and bandeja paisa which was basically an assortment platter. I was a little disappointed in the arroz con pollo. Rice was over cooked and the flavor was overall muted. For dessert, we tried obleas -- thin waffles filled with jam, caramel and cheese. The waffles weren't true waffles, but more just cracker type. Again, rather disappointing but maybe I just don't have the right taste for it. The service was excellent, and we did enjoy the appetizers. Entrees and dessert were a let down. Overall, 3 stars in my book.

Any age would be welcome here. The food for me was mixed. Nothing bad or not fresh. The tortilla chips were thin and excellent. Not overly salty and strong enough to scoop goodly amounts of the tasty cheese dip. Sadly the cheese dip was barely above room temperature which was disappointing. The "bang bang shrimp" had no bang. They were alright as fried shrimp but no spice. The shrimp sauce was essentially mayonnaise. And again lukewarm at best. The two different sandwiches we had were both well stuffed. Among other things we tried both types of chorizo sausage they offered. Neither was what I expected. The French fries were very good. Our server was fast, funny, attentive, and made sure we were taken care of the whole time. Even the manager came out to check on us, which says a lot. This place is seriously a hidden gem. The prices are right in that perfect middle--not too high, not too low--and the portions? HUGE. Even the desserts don't play around. I would absolutely recommend this place again and again and again.
