My husband stopped in a few weeks ago and hasn't stopped talking about the empanadas. We were looking for a pickup option this week and decided on Cactus since I hadn't tried it yet. I am gluten free and was thrilled to be able to select from a variety of options (not just salad ). We called our order in and I confirmed gluten free options. The Cactus Restaurant started as a food truck in Marysville in 2020 and opened a restaurant in 2024 in a Powell strip mall off the beaten path. The restaurant is bright, welcoming and very clean We were seated in a side room with the bar, a large projection TV screen with the volume on MAXIMUM and two smaller TVs advertising menu items. Those TVs featured some seriously delicious looking items! Service was ok. Drink refills were not offered and I needed one. We both ordered lunch specials advertised for $10.99 but billed at $11.99. Hubs ordered the lunch chicken bowl with rice, black beans, grilled chicken and corn. The corn was served refrigerator cold. The rest of the meal was hot. Overall the food lacked seasoning. I started with a cheese empanada. Expertly made and fried with goody cheese inside. The empanada was served with a dmall side of green sauce that I thought was cilantro based. I ordered the lunch Pabellon Bowl with pork, white rice, black beans and a sweet plaintain Everything on my plate was served hot but also without seasoning making it bland. I used the empanada sauce to add some flavor to the pork and rice. In summary, I wanted to love this restaurant the advrtised images on 2 TVs are gorgeous but the food was bland. The projection TV volume made conversation difficult and service could have been more attentive. This was our first expusure to Venezuelan food and probably our last. I still stand by the fantastic empanada. I would return for that alone. read more

Hidden away in UDF Parking lot, Cactus has lots of internal space and seating, as well as an efficient carry out business. Tried it for the first time over the holidays and was pleasantly surprised. Plenty of parking, friendly service, and good food quality. I did carryout and tried one of their chicken, rice and beans lunch specials. I would recommend you try this, just for something different. I had the grilled chicken arepa and it was good but not quite amazing. The grilled chicken was really great and in abundance and the green sauce on it was also very good but I was hoping for some melty white cheese and it had a cold, thick slice of a bland mozzarella type of cheese on it. It could have used some lettuce or pico or a bean spread too. The service was great and it's a nice looking place. I will go back again for lunch and maybe try something different. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. We came in at 6:45pm on 5/10/26. It was our first time there. Super cute entrance and we were seated right away. Once sat, we put in an appetizer sampler and 2 cokes. It took 30 minutes to get our drinks after I had to ask for them. After waiting about an hour total, still no food and no sign of our waitress I asked for a manager. He didn't come to the table, I had to walk up to him. I asked for our order to be canceled. He said sorry but there were other people who ordered before us. Number one, not true. People who had arrived after us got food right away, and second he didn't even seem to care. What a horrible first and LAST impression. Obviously we won't be going back. We were excited to try another South American restaurant. There is a special on empanadas and a smaller round empanadas filled with beef, cheese, potato and/or pork. The cilantro sauce is good. I ordered the Chahapa with shredded beef and enjoyed it. My husband had the Arepa Pabillon. It was okay. We tried the imported sodas, which were fun. It looks like they have some good cocktails. So this used to be Pablo's a very good Cuban restaurant. With that said it's now "latin" food. After living in FL on the Gulf coast for 18 years I got to know Cuban and Latin food pretty well. The plantains here have Parmesan grated on them... not once have I ever seen that and for me not a good combo. The chirrasco was good but the chimminchurri sauce seemed a bit bland. The chicken fingers my partner ordered were on the kids menu and came out over cooked. The black beans and rice were ok. The best part of the meal was the cicerone's (fried pork belly/ pork rinds) which tasted like they usually do though the portion was small. read more

Went to go to Pablos and found this place had replaced it. So I ordered quite a bit of food to basically give my family a buffet. Everything was just kind of ok. Nothing was spectacular. Everything was honestly extrememly bland. No spice, no flavor. The people there were great, and helpful. The interior looks very similar to how it was when it was Pablos except the kitchen is now walled off and the walls are a very sterile white. ymmv but I will not be going back, food was so boring and not worth the money. read more
