It was okay ... Service and atmosphere: The staff were friendly and helpful. Fairly attentive as well. Unfortunately, some staff members were speaking too low so we couldn't hear them saying what meats were being delivered. This could have been due to loud music played too. The restaurant was organised. The plastic plates that they served food on were way too used and had brown marks/imprints from being used so much. Food and drinks: Good selection on the menu but the quality in my opinion wasn't there. The thinly sliced meats looked dried up. Other meats were okay. All sides to accompany the meats were on the sweet side (including kimchi). Pricing: $$/$ depends on the type of meat cuts you opt for.

Gen is RELIABLE okay? Every location I have been to has great service, quality sides, and lots of meets options all for a fair price. So if you're looking for a classic Korean bbq - you'll love it!

Pretty solid KBBQ place, lots of variety to choose from for the all you can eat! I tended to prefer the marinated meats more. Appetizers were fine but I loved the Japchae and Hotteok the most. Got some more Hotteok for "dessert" bc it was that good.

Service can be a little slow during busy times like a weekend lunch. Also the prices are higher for weekend lunches (same as dinner). We did the upgrade to the premium cuts, wagyu supposedly from Korea was alright (inconsistent cuts, earlier orders were nice and lean, subsequent orders were fattier). Loved the skirt steak though!

Trying out the Gen Korean bbq in Houston. They accommodate us even we did not have a reservation. The staff explained regarding their menu and told us that for the big party we can do 2 separate checks to pay the bill which is understandable. Their menu has a premium. The place is big but busy.the inside is dem and moderate noise.

Since it was a weekday, there were plenty of tables open for us. We all just got their regular dinner menu. They give a complimentary salad and a sauce set composed of their signature soy sauce, sesame oil, and green tea sea salt. They also provide a set of banchan that go well with the meat and rice. Whenever I go here I always just order their bulgogi and galbi, which are always reliable and solid. I also tried some of their brisket and pork belly, which were good as well. I always make sure to order some rice paper on the side to pair with the meat, they have radish wraps as well. I tried various things like their dragon shrimp, kimchi cheese fried rice, and rice cakes. They were just ok, I recommend just sticking to the meat.

You have to order the Deep Fried Mandu when you get here!

Park in the Parking lot, Gen BBQ is attached to the parking garage. The waiters are super attentive and very informational on the apps and meats. Highly recommend the Premium package( a variety of popular meats) appetizers not included. Meats are very tasty and the appetizers were very good. Great for day/night dates, trendy spot, family & friend outings, solo date.

Food is excellent. Meat is amazing. Remind me my visit to Korea! Service was on point Wiynh was an awesome server! Music was not to loud and delightful. Down side was I order a blue Hawaiian and I did not taste any alcohol in my drink. Little dissatisfied there. I got the premium service! Was worth it!

LI've been to so many Korean bbq restaurants and this one was only okay. The meat wasn't good quality and I could tell by the apprentice, the tenderness of when you even cut it, the flavour especially of the pork etc. Even for its price, I feel like its quality was still not meeting its value or standard. The Japchae was also supposedly "house made" but as someone who makes it at home and as an experienced foodie, it was basically preprepped noodles and chopped peppers thrown on (not even cut well! It was just chunks of it). Even their house salad im skeptical if it is house made because they had house salad with the cut marinated lettuce but didn't have fresh lettuce on its own for me to eat it with the meat. However, the service was very good. We had Pedro help us and he was very helpful.

On my most recent visit we ordered mapo tofu with pork intestines off the specials menu - a hybrid of two of my favorite Sichuan-style dishes. The blend of bouncy, savory morsels amidst tender, saucy tofu was at once revolutionary and so obvious; why hadn't I yet seen this at any other restaurant? And sure, innards may not be everyone's cup of tea, but it's important for you to know that none of my past orders from the 50+ item menu have ever failed me, whether enjoyed in the restaurant or at home. Maybe you'd prefer the aromatic, classic, perfectly balanced three-cup chicken? Or the sweet-skinned duck, glazed so delicately that specks of sugar crystal threaten to jump off onto the plate as you pick up a juicy slice with your chopsticks? And if you're vegetarian, might you consider the punchy garlic eggplant or the wok-kissed string beans? I could go on. Do yourself a favor and come see for yourself, though I'd recommend parallel parking on the neighborhood streets behind the restaurant rather than the rocky parking lot, to save you some trouble. Bring friends and chow down family style - you'll need help covering as much of the menu as you can, but you'll definitely have to come back to try everything.

The crab rangoon burrito didn't really taste like crab rangoon. It was extremely creamy and heavily filled with cream cheese almost to the point of being overwhelming. It was missing that traditional savory, umami flavor, and instead tasted only like cream cheese. The outer layer also didn't hold up well. It wasn't strong or crispy enough to support the filling, so everything felt soft and fell apart. It honestly made it difficult to eat without a spoon (which they did include). From the specials menu, we started with the spicy garlic coconut milk mussels made with fresh Prince Edward Island/British Columbia mussels in a rich spicy garlic coconut cream sauce, topped with green onions and served with toasted ciabatta bread. The broth was incredible and packed with flavor. As an appetizer, we ordered the Texas Wagyu Hot Stone Bowl -- the only rice item on the menu at the time -- made with rice, egg, kimchi sauce, tawan mushrooms, sesame, and green onion. It was prepared tableside for us, which made the experience even more fun and interactive. We also tried the Spicy Soy Ramen with braised ground pork, chili oil, soy milk broth, soft boiled egg, wakame, green onion, and micro cilantro. The flavors were rich, comforting, and had the perfect amount of spice. The Nagasaki Champon Ramen was another standout with clams, shrimp, cabbage, pork, onion, ginger, and micro cilantro in a flavorful broth that tasted fresh and authentic. The restrooms were very Japanese-inspired and beautifully maintained, adding to the atmosphere of the restaurant. Gabby was an amazing waitress -- attentive, friendly, knowledgeable, and made the entire dining experience even better. Then there was dessert: Green Tea soufflé and chocolate milk bread pudding! They change up the menu every once in a while or try new things out. They have daily special on the menu. They have plenty of drinks and even zero proof. Their Brussel sprouts is truly one of the best I've ever had. They were like marinated and drenched in sweet chili and lemon. I tried the a5 hot rock waygu and that was very tasty. It was just the right amount of sauce that leveled up the amberjack and the pineapple brighten the dish. I tried the flounder on the daily special menu and that was not it. This had to be the worse thing I tried. The cilantro broth was too heavy and the cilantro flavors were overpowering. The flounder even tasted dry. I received a free crab roll and this was tasty. Had the hamachi chili which the hamachi is always my favorite with the chilis and pineapple. The blue fin otoro was also one of my favorites. I just love the melt in your mouth textures. I think we may have went on an off day because I have tried takeout form this place that was delicious, but on this day the food wasn't my favorite. We did overall enjoyed our experience and time and I would recommend giving this place a try! We ordered a total of 5 dishes and everything seemed very authentic to Sichuan cooking. With Sichuan cuisine though, a lot of the food will be on the oily side, so keep that in mind. - Eggplant In Spicy Sauce (5/5): Definitely order this dish! You can tell the eggplant was prepared well because it retained its beautiful purple color and luscious shape. The flavor was sweet and savory seeped well into the eggplant. My only comment would be that there wasn't a strong garlic flavor, but it was still so tasty I think it deserved that 5/5! - Mapo Tofu (2.5/5): I came here specifically for the mapo tofu but was left a bit disappointed. The flavor was pretty good and had that strong Sichuan pepper spice that lingers after a while. My issue with the tofu was the consistency of the sauce. I found it to be very thick and clumpy in an unpleasant way, almost like eating little gelatin pieces. I would probably come back to try it again just in case this was a bad batch, but it's hard to compete with wanna boa's mapo tofu. - Spicy and Crispy Chicken (4/5): Pretty juicy and crispy chicken with a slight kick. I love anything fried chicken so I did enjoy this dish but it was pretty standard and there wasn't much to write about. - Red Oil Dumplings (3/5): Pretty standard oil dumplings. They weren't really spicy which would be good for people who can't handle spice. I think I would've liked a bit more meat filling but overall not bad. - Dan Dan Noodles (3/5): I loved the texture of the noodles but I found the sauce to be kinda slippery which made it hard adhere to the noodles. I also thought the flavor could've been a bit stronger. Service/Ambiance: the interior of this place was super cute, especially the upstairs area. I loved the dim lighting and tiny table lamps which gave this place a cozy romantic feeling. The outside was also interesting with an all black exterior and no sign. That might make it hard to notice or find the restaurant, but that did give it a more hidden feeling which was nice. Parking was also abundant and service was great!

I really wanted to like Wanna Bao because the presentation of the food was beautiful, but overall,…read morethe taste just did not live up to the visuals for me. We came with a group of 18 people, and the bill ended up being around $972. Unfortunately, most of the dishes were more impressive visually than flavor-wise. The colorful green fried rice looked unique, but honestly just tasted like regular fried rice. The green beans were overcooked, so they lost the crunch and sweetness that usually make that dish enjoyable. The green curry was extremely spicy, but outside of the heat, it wasn't very memorable. The shaking beef dish looked amazing presentation-wise, but the sauce was too sweet for a savory dish, and the crispy rice pairing just didn't work well for me. I initially thought the duck dish was Peking duck, but it was actually the Jasmine Tea Smoked Duck. Even so, everyone at my table agreed we still preferred the traditional Peking duck style. The duck itself lacked flavor for us, and the skin was soft instead of having the crisp texture we were hoping for. The only dishes I genuinely enjoyed were the soup dumplings, cucumber salad, and fried dumplings. Most of the other dishes at the table were barely touched. If you're looking for colorful, aesthetically pleasing food and great presentation, you may enjoy this place. But if flavor is your main priority, this spot just wasn't for me personally.
