Coming here again after a while was a good experience. My friend and I wanted to change things up this past week so instead of the usual Folcroft Diner we cane here for a change. Right away we were sat down. It was at this visit I had the vegetarian omlette which came with some hash browns. The portion size was a little smaller than what I was used to at the other diner but that didn't make this not delicious! The service was great as I found the server gracious and kind and it had a quieter atmosphere which was welcoming for me. Hopefully we will once in a while come here again. It was a diner I almost forgot about but wondered why I dared to do so. Gateway Diner is worth the trip!

10.12.24 A step into the past of a hometown diner with a hometown feel. Quaint comfortable interior, friendly service and great food.

Its a diner so it comes with its own rules and oddities which i can handle. There was a restaurant now burned down in an adjoing town that NEVER totaled your check. At that place you had to guess before you paid on what your tip should be. So i can take anything this cool diner would dish out WHAT I LOVE: 1 Great for women solo diners. You never get shoved into a corner cause you are solo nor do people stare cause you are alone. 2. Reasonably priced food that is fast, fresh and filling. 3 Service has except for one occasion in the 10 years I've dined here has always been attentive and quick. Oftentimes even nurturing 4. Its a diner in an diner underserved county. . 5. Plenty of parking. Here on a snowy day and its totally cleared.

I have been coming to this diner for years since it is around my neighborhood and very convenient. The menu consists of your standard diner food that is good but not particularly great. I usually order breakfast food when I go and they are always willing to customize my order if it doesn't line up with one of their specials. The service is fast and the waiters/waitresses are very polite. Overall a good place for a quick bite to eat but that's pretty much it. Be aware that the place is also very outdated but still clean!

Food is awful and they don't know how to take your order. And the service isn't good, I would go to another diner before I go here

This was a really great spot. My coworker and I were over in North Jersey for work but flew in and out of PHL rather than facing Newark. In order to beat the crazy construction traffic outside of Philly and to have a buffer for whatever TSA nightmare we were going to face, we got back near the airport early... like 4 1/2 hours before our flight kind of early. I wanted breakfast outside of the airport so I found this spot while he was refilling the rental car. I got the French toast with homefries. The french toast was perfect, with just a tiny bit of crisp in spot from the griddle. Same with the homefries. I would have liked a bit more seasoning while they were cooking, but a bit of salt and pepper and I was good to go. My coworker got the big breakfast but subbed out the homefries for corned beef hash. While I'm not a fan of corned beef hash, it looked exactly like how my mom and grandfather like it, with a little bit of crisp to it. The pancake was huge and he said his over medium eggs were cooked exactly like he hoped they would be. Now I just need to plan out my flights so I can come get breakfast here again and try one of the sandwiches, or omelettes, or maybe get French toast again...

Today was no exception. Their grilled chicken sandwich was not what I hoped for. On the plus side, it was a generous portion of chicken, most of which I took home. As a negative -- at least for me -- I like a flat filet, with grill marks. This was "chunky," rendering it clumsy to eat. It simply didn't taste grilled at all. And the chicken was dry. T ordered a country omelet that was filled with breakfast meats, cheddar and peppers. Though not my thing, I agreed it was pretty good. His grits were creamy, buttery and delicious. Coffee is strong and served in the old-fashioned heavy mugs that I favor. Our server was friendly. ("Where are you from?" she asked, picking up on my Brooklyn accent.) I asked if Greek lemon soup is ever on the menu. She said that the owners are Turkish, then gave me a rundown of their specialties, all of which sound delish. (Alas, no avgolemono.) I wouldn't hesitate to return to Folcroft. The menu is diverse, the restaurant is clean -- as pointed out by another Yelper AND our waitress. If you order the right thing, you'll no doubt be pleased.

We went in winter but I'm sure it's packed in summer. The Crab Cake Sandwich is a must. It's actually full of lump crab meat instead of just being a bunch of breading and filler. If you want a four top and two top tables together to seat 5, you have to sit in the land-side dining room. Service after seating was pleasant and helpful. Menu items vary from bar food to upscale dining choices, old school to trendy. The standout here was the old school clams casino. The flavors were nicely balanced and enjoyable. We would order these again and it's probably the only thing that would bring us back. We tried the fried fish sandwich, roast beef dip sandwich and roast pork sandwiches. All of them were generously large and 1/2 sandwich was enough to satisfy. While the roll was delicious and the fillings plentiful, they just did not have enough flavor.
