The Crab Cake Sandwich is a must. It's actually full of lump crab meat instead of just being a bunch of breading and filler. We also got the Loaded Cheese Fries and they were total comfort food. Ambience: Stingers Waterfront was ok... The worst experience came from the weather. It was a nice hot and humid day. Since there were no available tables outside, we were placed inside in a corner table with no air circulation. The humidity felt unbearable and really played a major impact on my experience. I'm sure if I came during a mid spring day I would've had a better experience. Food: the food is the only reason I would come here again. I got a crab cake that was very robust with a fair amount of filler but had a good amount of real crabmeat. My son got the quesadilla, and it wasn't anything special. The salmon was small and flavorful. Service: also was not anything special or bad. Our waitress came by twice during our stay. It was a busy afternoon and she was working. It would've been good if they had more staff so that someone could refill our water more frequently. Like I said, the humidity had taken away from our experience. Overall, I wouldn't come here throughout the hot, humid summer months, but I may give it a second try in the winter or spring... maybe. read more

So we went here for lunch with friends. We asked for a table for 5. If you want to sit inside but waterside (where the locals call the swamp) you are jammed at a table that barely fits 4. If you want a four top and two top tables together to seat 5, you have to sit in the land-side dining room. Service after seating was pleasant and helpful. Menu items vary from bar food to upscale dining choices, old school to trendy. The standout here was the old school clams casino. The flavors were nicely balanced and enjoyable. We would order these again and it's probably the only thing that would bring us back. We tried the fried fish sandwich, roast beef dip sandwich and roast pork sandwiches. This is our approximate 12th visit to Stingers which is our favorite place in all of the Philadelphia region. Tonight was no exception to their excellence. Josh was our wait staff for the evening. My daughter and her boyfriend were here visiting from Australia and we really wanted to show them a place that we know everybody raves about from the atmosphere to the food menu to the service. We had a fantastic experience, we tasted the mussels, the cheesesteak, egg rolls, the French dip and the shrimp mac & cheese. Josh is a bloody legend, and just for the wonderful service that was given to us from this visit alone, we are good for another 10 visits in the next few months. Stopped in for a late lunch on my way to the airport. Sat at the bar and enjoyed a beer, appercot brandy smash, wings and the blackened swardfish. The wings were very meaty and could have been a meal on their own. The blacken and swordfish was a nice portion, blackened just right and served with orzo pasta. The server was pleasant and engaging in sharing her thoughts on the various menu items. The location is great, and the service is fine. The food, however, is TERRIBLE! They simply don't know how to cook! For the price you're paying, you should expect top-drawer food. It's a shame that so much careful planning and general execution can be overshadowed by lack of attention/professionalism by a server. We were seated at 5:07 pm, and promptly placed our order, which was brought out with a quickness by a food runner. By just short of 6:00 pm, we had finished and were ready to wrap the evening up. Having to wait until 6:57 pm to have the table cleared, the check dropped, and the cards authorized made us feel like we were being held hostage. Things happen: Maybe the 6:00 pm servers were held late for a line up and our server was heavily weeded. Maybe there was a problem with the POS system. A multitude of issues can happen, and we gave the benefit of the doubt. However, as we left, we noticed our server sitting at the inside bar, hard at work on her cell-phone. I know younger generations have different priorities, but when your job is serving tables, maybe you could tear yourself away from the worries of the world being solved on your phone in order to take care of your diners. Had a business dinner here with some execs, which means I had to put on my "yes sir, no ma'am" voice, but let me tell you, the service? A solid 10 outta 10. Quick, friendly, and still had that southern charm that makes you tip a little extra. Now, be warned: they still follow that old-school "we ain't seating you 'til your whole party arrives" rule. A little 2005, but also... y'all should really just be on time. So I get it. I wasn't feeling too hot--sinuses acting like I owed them money--so my appetite was half there, half in the bed. I ordered a taco salad... and whew, let's just say it was a disappointment wrapped in lettuce. Literally. It felt like they gave me one sad romaine leaf and told me to imagine the rest. 2 outta 10. That ain't it. Now the beef birria quesadilla came through looking like it had potential. Shredded beef, cheese blend, birria sauce, all the things that usually make you wanna shout. But taste-wise? It was decent, just needed a bit more seasoning to make it dance. I gave it a 5 outta 10 -- but again, the sun was directly in my face and my attitude was on "nap." Let's talk about the real star though: Stinger's Fries. Old Bay-spiced, covered in homemade cheese sauce, fresh crabmeat, and green onions. A whole blessing in a bowl. The spicy sriracha ketchup was cute, but unnecessary -- the fries held their own. 9 outta 10 easy. I also had the crab dip and the bang bang shrimp, and listen, I forgot to take pics because I was too busy being happy. Both are must-tries -- bold flavors, creamy, crispy, all the textures. The real kicker here though? That view. You're right on the water. Boats bobbing, breeze breezing, and the whole vibe is "I could quit my job and eat here every weekend." Would I come back? Good food on the water Came here with the girlfriend. Was told this was the spot to get seafood and ambiance, so we came here for a lunch. Parking is plentiful, but you will be competing with the launch pad for boats for parking spots. There's a ton of signage stating that dining is only 90 minutes. My guess is they have issues with people staying for long stints of time. Our sever was very nice, checked in a lot and made sure that our stay was nice and our drinks topped off. Food came out a little slow but not too slow. Took pics and dug in. The mussels were good, but the sauce was not burned off enough. There was a big hit of boozy tang that detracted from the otherwise light and acidic sauce. Still tasty, but not balanced. The fries were cooked well enough, the cheese sauce was made fresh and seasoned well. The fresh crab was very fishy smelling, but was told it was the style of crab they used which led to the smell. Not bad just not expected. The crab dip was good. Really liked the made in house tortilla chips. Was hearty, plenty of crab and the cheese layer was crispy and salty which helped since the mellow crab flavor didn't really come through. It's clear they put lots of care into their appearances and the service is great. As a location to hang out, this seems like a very nice place to go. It is lacking a bit in terms of its food, but I'd imagine this is the type of place that's not known for their food. Go for the location and drinks, and you'll probably have a great time. The atmosphere is very nice and the menu offerings are plenty! However, our party of 5 was seated on the lower floor outside in the direct sun. They definitely need umbrellas for these tables and this area. It's extremely hot and dangerously scorching. There's a hole for an umbrella but nothing was in it. We spent a lot of money eating and drinking and catching up with one another after many years. We asked to move inside after being burnt alive but they only wanted new guests that would order more food. It was as if we didn't matter anymore. This was really disappointing, disheartening and pretty disturbing. They finally let us sit inside but clearly weren't pleased as the waitress made it obvious. We ordered more drinks inside but these were not good. The $16 strawberry margarita was nothing but all sugary mix. It wasn't drinkable. We told the server to taste it but it fell on deaf ears. She said they're not allowed to remove it from the bill or replace it with anything else. WHAT? This was completely unacceptable. Never heard of this in my life! Especially for a $16 drink. We kept asking for it to be rectified but nobody cared. Caught the manager in the front and he even agreed this was wrong. He said they'd fix it but this never happened We were also charged for shrimp on a salad when it was only chicken that was ordered. Not sure why they treat their customers like this? We would have been happy to return for our next get together but not after this experience. Unfortunately, this left a bad taste in all our mouths literally! Get some better bartenders and managers that understand the food and beverage industry. This is not the way to build customer base or loyalty. read more

Our group was told that they have the best crabcakes around. We took off with a group and as we entered there's a big sign that says that we have one and a half hours to have a table. Not very welcoming for our large group, probably spending a good amount of pocket change. Just for fun I decided to start timing the service and I must say we were seated immediately. We had a wonderful view of the river with locals coming and going on their boats. It did take about seven minutes for us to receive water and maybe about 15 minutes for us to put our order in. We've now used up 20ish minutes. I was concerned that we had a good size group and expecting our food would come out quickly because we now have one hour and five minutes left. I asked the server when does the time start and they just giggled. I did not pursue an answer. We put our order in in the next 10 minutes and then waited for appetizers, drinks, dinner and dessert. It did take the kitchen about 35 minutes to serve appetizers and dinner. And it took about 10 minutes to get our alcoholic beverages. Oh dear, we only have about 20 minutes to eat, order dessert and have coffee. I actually stopped counting the minutes because we were having such a good time and decided to just go with the flow. No one really said anything to us and we were there about two hours and 45 minutes in a very crowded timeframe. Only one suggestion... Remove the sign - it is not an instant feel good or welcoming to a restaurant that has a time limit on dining. Our bill was close to $600+ The crab cakes, filet, stuffed salmon, crab dip, shrimp tacos were all pretty darn good and I will be back for them. Oh, and I must say, I did steal a taste of the mashed potatoes and they were excellent as well. read more

Stopped in on a Winter Sunday afternoon with two others. Nice and clean outside, plenty of parking for the off-season. We were greeted and seated right away. Our waiter stopped over minutes later, and we ordered right away. Place wasn't very busy, just a small crowd, a few tvs. Bar looked like it would be fun for a few beers, we had a couple of burgers and some mozzarella sticks-everything came out quickly and was quite good. They use to switch the menu up every season or so but they do still have specials that always sound appetizing. Some dishes need a little more seasoning/flavor but im still satisfied. My burger was too small for the brioche bun; dry and would not be surprised if it was a frozen patty. The bacon add-on was one strip halved and tasted old. Fries were undercooked. Husband had a fried cod sandwich; seasoned well, not greasy and a generous portion on a brioche bun instead of toasted sourdough. Cole slaw on it was okay; didn't understand why it had Russian dressing on it yet also served with tartar sauce. Fries were okay. Did not try dessert.
