Absolutely Fantastic! A True Local Favorite! I stopped by McGillicuddy's Tinicum and ordered the Parmesan Italiano, and WOW the food was incredible! The portion was generous, the flavors were rich and delicious, and everything tasted freshly prepared. You can really tell they put love into their dishes. The service was just as amazing. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made me feel welcomed from the moment I walked in. It's rare to find a place with both great food and outstanding customer service, but McGillicuddy's delivers on every level. If you're in the area, this spot is a must-try. Older, well-maintained corner bar. Stopped for midweek lunch and just a couple of regulars (older guys) at the bar. This place is probably jumping on weekends with the outside patio and corn hole and DJ area inside. Burgers were really thick n tasty but hard to tell if they were done all the way through. Negative stars for poor service/attitude. Took about 15 minutes to be noticed and greeted by staff as 3 of us entered and stood there. When asked if kitchen was still open, staff was unsure and had to go check in the back and never came back. Looks like a house with pub on first floor. Nothing special. Different Cheesesteak #1197. Thursday night is wing night. Most seats at the bar were taken. A big bright place with lots of games. Lively crowd. I made some new cheesesteak friends. I learned that Chili is big in Cincinnati. 2nd most popular way to eat it is over spaghetti. I got a cheesesteak. It came with french fries and pickle slices. Nice crispy pickle slices. Cheesesteak spent a few minutes in the oven. To quote someone from FB, I go to Mcgillicuddy's all of the time and never thought to get the cheesesteak. Let's take this advice. read more

Yelp lead us to McGillicuddy's while traveling. It is a very unassuming building on the corner of a neighborhood street. Plenty of parking. Side door marked with JD to get in. The inside is clean and dimly lite but not too dark to where you can't see. You seat yourself and a friendly staff member will came to take your order. Food came hot and fresh to the table and even though it's typical bar fare they do have unique daily specials. If we're ever back in the area we'll definitely stop in. read more

We ordered a full array of catering for our high school senior's graduation party. With penne, pork and meatballs our guests went home with full bellies and each with the question of "where did you get this food". Sometimes, when ordering catered food, you feel like it was mass-produced with little attention to flavor. HOWEVER, each morsel of the food from McGillicuddy's tasted as it was specifically hand made with care by a world renown chef. Absolutely delicious! Enjoyed McGilli'cutlets - Italiano (took 1/2 back to hotel) and their soup of the day, broccoli cheddar. The soup was excellent, and the sandwich was very tasty. The roll was a little dense in comparison to the yummy cutlet and roasted red peppers-cheese topping, but good. I also had a bottle of beer and my bill was only about $21. Really reasonable for good food and large servings. I went here in the middle of the afternoon after my flight was cancelled and the airline put me up at a hotel. A neighborhood sports bar that isn't much to look at from the outside (or inside) but then I didn't go there for the decor or architecture . I had the chicken cheesesteak sub with fries with a 16 ounce margarita. The bartender/waitress was friendly and efficient. the cheesesteak was huge and the roll had a nice chew to it and was fresh, the fries were crisp and almost too hot to eat. A few local guys were hanging out and their lively banter was entertaining. As a solo female diner I felt very comfortable eating here. A casual place with good filling bar food. read more

Took my elderly mother to lunch here as it looked (on Yelp) to be as much of a restaurant as it was a bar. Nope. It's a bar. But the reviews were mostly positive on the food so we stayed and ate a good lunch while some of Essington's day drinkers got an early start. Mom's burger was "one of the best" my mom has had. My cheesesteak was very good. The fries were well done and very crispy - just as we wanted. If you're not interested in drinking and just want some lunch, don't worry about those folks over at the bar, just grab a table and have some good food. read more

Pretty nice cheesesteak here at Jd McGillicuddy's Tinicum, as well as the chicken cutlet Italiano (sautéed spinach, roasted red peppers, provolone cheese). I couldn't decide, so I got both. The cheesesteak was American cheese and sautéed onions, that were reduced in Guinness beer -- I was told. I questioned it immediately, because I tasted more of a stewed, French onion soup flavor. The more I ate it, the more I enjoyed it. Bob Marakovits, this cheesesteak has your name all over it. The cutlet is made in house, and scratched the cutlet itch brought on by Vincent Paul this morning. Both rolls were good, I preferred the seeded roll if I had to choose. Overall a great experience here. Our bartender, Nicole provided us great warm service, as if we were regulars. This is a neighborhood joint, so I was an unfamiliar face. Met some great locals and had some classic bar room conversations. I highly recommend it here. /5 The food came out quick and they have some of the coldest draft beer I've had in a long time! ***Wanted to start off by saying that SMOKING IS NO LONGER PROHIBITED INSIDE! I saw in other reviews that this bothered people and wanted to note that this has changed!*** I am actually lucky enough to currently live directly across the street from this bar, and have so for around two years now (my bf grew up in this town while I reign from South Jersey/Center City); and so I get to witness its ongoings every single day/night. Other than the locals who are there each day (all extremely kind, friendly & welcoming), you can't really gain a better perspective than that; so with this in mind, I hope this 5-Star rating will convince you to give McGillicudy's a visit! Whether it's live music, a post-wedding-reception party, a big football game or even just a few trucks parked in the lot on a weeknight, I have never been disappointed when visiting the bar. This neighborhood (Essington) is VERY tight-knit, almost like one big family, and the same sense of community carries into the bar. There's a great food menu to choose from, great beer & GREAT cocktails (made nice & stiff - easily getting you're money's worth as opposed to other bars who hand you a cranberry & barely-vodka loaded w/ ice). The best part is that everything is very fairly priced so that you don't wake up the next morning with money-regret... only hangover-regret if you do it right . The owner is literally one of the nicest guys you can meet, extremely generous & down-to-earth and courteous to his customers, and the bartenders are just as attentive, friendly & kind. If you tip them well (which they deserve!), then you'll be taken care of like a VIP all night. During the weekdays you'll find it's mostly just the locals feeling the seats, with the exception of a few random nights where cars are parked in the street because the lot is full for some event/game/holiday. The weekends can get a little more "dancy" especially when the weather warms up, but it's FAR from being a club. People will hit the jukebox, play their favorite song, and gather a small group of friends to dance in the open area away from the bar, all while there's plenty of seating for others who'd rather sit, chat and have easy access to the bartenders . Many nights there is live music which also inspires some dancing. In addition, during the spring/summer they set up horseshoes and "cornhole" aka Bag-O outside within their gated lawn for a little outdoor drinking fun. There is plenty of parking, both in their reasonable sized lot around the back as well as the surrounding streets as most homes have driveways for parking. Just make sure you don't block someone's driveway like this one couple tried to do to us one time! (I asked them to move before they went into the bar... but the driveways are pretty obvious so you shouldn't have the same problem!) To summarize, this is a great neighborhood bar with an atmosphere that offers something for everyone; including amazing bites (wings and nachos are my fav!), a wide variety of beverages to choose from, and an incredibly hard working staff and owner who make this place a great bar spot for all! read more

Awesome place and great all you can eat crab legs during the right season! Smaller space than expected, but they make it work! Servers were very fast, kind, and on top of things. we went for the all you can eat crabs, which was fairly priced for what each of us were able to eat. Even tough the ambience (music) is nice and the service good, especially if it is Nicole, I was surprise to get clams when ordering mussels...the menu in here (Yelp) was not to date since they did not offer anymore all you can eat mussels on Thursday night, which was the main reason of my choice to go there ;0( The clams I got where quite salty and little much too cooked. Was our last night in town and you just can't go wrong with an Irish pub. This place was right down the street from our hotel, so we said why not. You have to be an Irish Pub connoisseur and know what you're getting in to, to enjoy this place. Lucky for me, i've been to my fair share. So we walked in and I thought, yeah this place will work. Very eclectic crowd. Folks from all walks all life smiling and laughing like they've known each other for years. Cheap beers, stiff drinks, good music and fun people. Pretty busy (but not crowded) for a weekday night which was fine by me. The bartenders and servers call you hun or luv. Go with a smile and don't expect high society. Enjoy a pint with some locals. My fiancé and I came here for the all you can eat (AYCE) crab legs. When we came in, we sat at the bar and were immediately greeted. We ordered some beers and shots and the AYCE crab legs. When the crab legs came out, we didn't realize they were snow crab legs. Nevertheless, we dug in and ate them. They were delicious! I've always thought the drinks and the bartenders were top notch. Lately I've been trying more and more if there food and it is outstanding food for a bar.
