My coworker got the big breakfast but subbed out the homefries for corned beef hash. While I'm not a fan of corned beef hash, it looked exactly like how my mom and grandfather like it, with a little bit of crisp to it. The pancake was huge and he said his over medium eggs were cooked exactly like he hoped they would be. T ordered a country omelet that was filled with breakfast meats, cheddar and peppers. Though not my thing, I agreed it was pretty good. His grits were creamy, buttery and delicious. Coffee is strong and served in the old-fashioned heavy mugs that I favor. Our server was friendly. ("Where are you from?" she asked, picking up on my Brooklyn accent.) I asked if Greek lemon soup is ever on the menu. She said that the owners are Turkish, then gave me a rundown of their specialties, all of which sound delish. (Alas, no avgolemono.) To top it off, when I mentioned to the head bartender (who was acting as the manager) that I wouldn't be coming back, he pulled $40 cash out of his own wallet and offered it to me to "give them another chance." The service was quick and easy, which is great for anyone rushing to their next flight. The resulting sandwich, however, was underwhelming. I absolutely agree and confirm what Yelper Alicia B. notes; Passyunk skimps on cheese whether you pay for extra or not. After ten years of regular travel, I know it's not impossible to find flavorful meals in an airport...but they're still rare. Often times it feels as if eateries don't try because they don't have to--you're in an enclosed environment with minimal choices and you often need sustenance. Sadly, I'd lump Passyunk's in that category. If you are interested in filling your belly, it'll do. If you're looking for a great cheesesteak, move on.
