Philly all the way wit wiz.
    Wayne Z.

Not bad for an airport spot tbh. Somehow this place was ranked well above the other 2 places serving Philly Cheesesteaks, while I've not tried the others, this one was pretty tasty. Place is a simple set up with no cashier but a tablet for ordering. They unfortunately were out of sweet potato fries but the guys showed me how to file for a refund (processed in 2 days). About 10 min later I got my sandwich and it was piping hot. Good amount of meat and fillings, very tasty, only complaint would be it could've used more wiz! Anyways, no regrets here and wouldn't hesitate to grab another.

If you're deciding between this spot and the other cheesesteak place, this one is the clear winner. Their cheesesteak is absolutely loaded, packed with delicious, savory flavors, and the whiz is satisfying. The cheese fries are crispy and cheesy ... perfect with the sandwich, making it a complete meal. Plus, the combo prices are reasonable, offering great value compared to other spots at the airport.

Philly cheesesteak minus the cheese apparently

I was working a job that was headquartered in Philly, so I had to fly here a few times a year. Well I was about to quit that job so I didn't know when I'd ever return to Philly, and I thought what better way to end this venture than to get a Philly cheesesteak. I had some time before boarding my flight so I took my hungry self to Passyunk Steaks. It was attached to a pizza place. It's more of a quick order and go type of joint, not a full on sit down restaurant. At the time they were only accepting kiosk orders. I ordered the most basic Philly cheesesteak with provolone cheese. There wasn't any interaction with the workers except the part when you pick up the order. There were no tables nearby so I took it to my gate and opened it up. It was pretty large in size qnd looked tasty. The issue is that it was as dry as the Sahara desert. I was confused if they even put cheese on it. Anyways I was hungry and despite the lack of cheese, it tasted good so I continued to eat it. But it was so dry that I had to take breaks every few minutes just to clear my throat LOL. Not sure what went wrong but it was a very underwhelming Philly cheesesteak experience in the city that's known for cheesesteaks. Note to self: Get a Philly cheesesteak anywhere but the airport!

    Cheesesteak all the way.

By far the best cheesesteak at the airport and among the best in Philly. They use the Amorosa Bread filled with steak that's diced pretty fine on the grill and seasoned with seasoned salt. Get it all the way and you get mushrooms, onions and peppers. I prefer mine with provolone but the whiz is good too. It can take anywhere from 5 to 20 minutes to get your steak depending on how many people are ordering at once. So leave time if you have a flight to catch. The fries are good as well. Crinkle cut with seasoned salt. I get one every time I fly out of Philly. That can be once every few months or twice a week. If I'm really hungry I get a slice from the pizza side while I'm waiting. The steaks and the pizza is greasy. As it should be. That's where the flavor is. As for the ambiance. It's airport carry out only. And you order from a large touchscreen. If you hit entrees you get a sandwich fries and a small drink. The best deal if you're looking for at least two of those things. Or hit sandwiches if you're just looking for the sandwiche a la carte.

The worst Philly cheesesteak I've ever had

TERRIBLE!!! I wish someone had been helpful enough to leave this review BEFORE I wasted $30 on the most flavorless cr&p I've ever tasted in my life. On top of that I asked for and paid for EXTRA CHEESE and you can see from the picture there is NONE.

Best steak you can get at the airport. The bread is just right - soft on the inside and soaks up the juices. Meat is kind of dry, but still more flavorful than the Geno's here.

Order here and turn around to pay at kiosk

I'm guessing this is new to the Philly Airport as there were no pictures or reviews yet, but it was here as a business. It's located right at the "entrance" to the B Terminal gates and shares a spot with a pizza place. You order via a tablet at the counter, then go to a self pay kiosk (there's one right behind you as you look at the establishment). The close one is card only but if you want to pay cash, there is a place to do that as well. I'm not a cheesesteak connoisseur by any means, but this one was pretty tasty. The steak was chopped and pretty moist. I went with Cheese Wiz just to see how it was and it worked well on this one, although it was a little saltier when I had a bite with a lot of wiz. It was a good size but the prices for $10 cheese steak and $11 for one with onions seemed excessive. Each topping I guess is $1 or something like that. I enjoyed it for sure! I still don't get the order at the food place and pay somewhere else method. It's designed as a marketplace and it's dumb for an airport. I can't imagine the confusion if it's crowded and the poor workers who have to answer questions on where to pay from almost everyone who orders. Just a terrible system, but not really the vendors' fault. All in all, it was a tasty sandwich and even though there's a Geno's at the Airport, the reviews of Geno's were terrible. I even stopped an American Airlines employee and asked him where to go and he said avoid Geno's. I'd go back for sure. I walked over from A Terminal, ordered, and ate at Vino Volo with some wine. Great combo.

Passyunk steak all the way....where is the cheese????

Waiting almost 10 minutes for a couple of steak subs in an airport seems like a long time. Especially when yours is the only order they're working on. At least they were made to order. We got the Passyunk a steak sub All the way. It was all the way dry. The fries weren't great. The lemonade was really good. You can self order and pay. Wish we'd waited and gone to a different spot.

I let my son order and he chose "The Classic" for us to try. Since we were having dinner in a couple of hours, we decided to share. It is pricey for the size. I'm used to having it a footlong at most other places and these are more like half the size. After placing our order on the kiosk, it was ready within minutes. The Classic consists of prime rib, Cooper sharp cheese, buttery steakhouse seasoning with sautéed onions all held intact by this sesame hoagie. OMG!!! My son and I loved it!! I'm salivating as I am writing this review. The Cooper sharp cheese just melts everything together. You can tastes the high quality cuts in their meats. It is now in my top #3. I will definitely be returning to try their other popular creations. Seating is limited. My one little complaint is that I wish they would wipe the tables and barstools down. It was sticky and dirty. Service is excellent even with the soccer match crowds.

We had Philly cheese steaks "with," onion rings, fries & mozzarella sticks. All were delicious, and we would definitely go again if we are ever back in Philly. Just make sure that you know what you want when you get up to the window to order. John's Roast Pork is legendary in Philly - it's been around for decades - 96 years to be exact! I'd been there once before many years ago (couldn't remember anything about it) and thought it was time for a revisit. I got the large Roast Pork sandwich - you can see from the attached picture the 'preferred toppings' (Dad's Way) are: Mustard Raw onions Hot seeded pepper American cheese I had only the Mild Provolone cheese on mine - no mustard, raw onions or seeded pepper. I would have had cooked (caramelized) onions - but they had only raw...and American cheese was not a choice for me (I was raised on it). The pork is supposed to be 'slow roasted (7 hours) pork shoulder (pork butt)' - and it may very well be, but it reminds me of the meat that's carved off the large vertical rotisseries for gyros. It doesn't look that appealing - it's like a large sub sandwich. The pork was soft, tender and seasoned well - the roll was very good - John's had been getting its bread from Carangi Bakery. However, the bakery closed due to a fire so I'm not sure where the bread is from, unless it reopened. I finally satisfied my curiosity about John's and went to see what the sandwich was like. While it probably ranks as one of the better 'pork/steak' sandwiches in Philly, I just couldn't get excited about it.

The Original Pat's King of Steaks is located in South Philly, specifically in the Passyunk Square neighborhood. It sits at the intersection of East Passyunk, South 9th, and Wharton. The building has many different signs and lights that will let you know that you are in the correct place. Since this is in the city, parking can be somewhat tricky. There are times I have had to circle around, or get whomever I was with to drop me off and have them come back. However, sometimes I have secured street parking not too far away. This will just depend on the time of day, and really the luck of the draw, if you are able to easily locate parking. This is an outdoor stand, meaning there is no inside to enter. You will order at the counter, and food is packaged to-go. However, there are some tables surrounding the building that you can dine at. They are all under the roof overhang, so you will be somewhat protected from the elements. On this day, it was not terribly busy. I really did not have to wait in any kind of line before being able to place my order. This was around 4:00 on a Saturday in September. First, I took some time to look over the menu posted near the sidewalk. There is also a helpful guide on "how to order a steak," for those that are unfamiliar. When it was my first time here, I actually found the humorous display very helpful. I placed my order for two classic Cheesesteak Wit, made with Cheez Whiz. When ordering, you specify if you want Wit (with onion) or Wit-Out (no onion). Given that I was wanting to try the most authentic sandwich I could, I opted for the onions and the traditional Cheez Whiz. My sandwiches only took a minute or so to be ready. As stated, it was not busy, and they are able to whip up these sandwiches rather quickly. I ended up taking my sandwiches to-go, and having them for meals the next few days. They reheat well, and have good flavor. I like having the onions on it for an added texture. Pricing is not terrible. Pat's is more expensive than Geno's by $2 for the same sandwich. My total was $36 after tax for the two sandwiches, making them $18 each. You definitely are paying for the experience and the novelty that is coming to this famous corner of Philadelphia. But, this price is not out of the ballpark of other places in the area. The sandwich is a decent size, and you can definitely get two meals out of it if you are eating it by yourself. So, all that considering, it is a fair value for what you pay. It seemed like most menu items were $20 or under. FYI, they take both cash and card. The staff are quick and efficient. However, it will not be the most friendly or pleasant experience, especially if you do not know how to order. I am not saying that the experience was poor by any means, but be aware that this is not Disney World and they will not be overly kind to you at the order window. Being from Pittsburgh, I had never had a true Philadelphia Cheesesteak sandwich until a few years ago when I visited for the first time. Since that trip, I typically make it a point to stop and get a few sandwiches to take back home with me. I enjoy coming to Pat's for the atmosphere, and the true taste of Philadelphia. I recommend giving it a try at least once, just to say you have had it. Plus, the sandwiches are pretty tasty, too. I will definitely be back here on future trips to South Philly.
