The cheesesteak is large and in charge, and hands down the best in the area (North Burbs). Quality bread, quality meat and cooper sharp, with a side of wings. Add football and you have the makings of a quality Sunday afternoon. The place is busy, so if you're placing an order be prepared to wait, but rest assured the wait is worth it. Overall good but not the best I've had. The chicken needed to be cut up more. The red sauce was on the sweet side. HELL YEAH!!! The reviews weren't wrong. I've been wanting to try VP cheesesteaks for a long time and they didn't disappoint. Fortunately I was in the area for work and I made the suggestion to my coworkers. Two of us ordered beef and two ordered chicken. We sat and waited. The place is a typical looking pizzeria with huge glass showcase with lots of delicious pizza slices available. The sandwiches were brought to our table after about 10 min and they were HUGE. I've been coming to Verona Pizza for a while now and have always had a good experience. The parking lot is large and convenient, but the restaurant itself isn't very big. There is a small outdoor seating area, but I wouldn't recommend it for large groups because space is limited. They get very busy, so I highly recommend calling your order in ahead of time. They provide an order number, and when you arrive, your food is usually ready for pickup. Since the inside can get crowded with customers waiting for orders, calling ahead makes the process much easier. The cheesesteaks are really good, and I've also enjoyed their pizza. The service is good, and the staff seem to work well together to keep things moving and make sure customers get what they need. Overall, I enjoy coming here. After a 3 hour hike at Wissahickon, no better way to reward ourselves than with Verona's pizza and cheesesteak. I live an hour away from Verona so when I heard this place was only a 15 min drive away from our hike, I knew I had to stop by. The well known Verona's did not disappoint. Unique to this pizzeria, the pizzas AND cheesesteaks are award winning. The wife and I ordered one of each. When we pulled up, this place was packed for 12PM. It hustlin and busslin! I ordered at the desk and waited maybe 25 mins (not bad at all for ordering in the spot and with the place being busy). Pizza: we ordered the "Hot Honey" at $27. We attacked this thing within 2 minutes of coming out the oven. Incredible dough with depth and texture. Perfect balance of sweet (sauce/honey) and savory (pepperonis/grated parm). Topped with fresh basil and hot honey. I wished there was more hot honey but to each their own. Elite pizza!! I highly recommend Cheesesteak ($18): we ordered it with fried onions and Cooper Sharp. Delicious bread, I'm assuming it's home made and if it's not it's definitely high quality bread. Tender ribeye steak chopped and mixed beautifully with the cheese and onions. Meaty sandwich for sure. I prefer my cheesesteaks a bit more cheesier but I was a happy camper as was my wife. All in all, this joint is pumping out top tier "pizzeria food". Place is very clean. Service time is adequate. Cheesesteak is plentiful but seeded roll is spongy and meat is tough and full of grizzle. Large pizza is not large. Pizza has very little taste but a very good crust. The leftover pizza re-heats well and stays crispy. You can tell they use excellent ingredients in their pizza but it really is cheap with the sauce and cheese and salt. If I lived in the area I'd probably give it a few more tries but I don't feel that it is a destination pizzeria. Meh, social media hype really has helped this place make money. Being as close as I am to this Verona location, I really have no excuse for being so late to the party. The important thing though, is that I finally went there today and got a cheesesteak with fried onions. The first thing I did when I got home was weigh it. 2.3 lbs of cheesesteak goodness. Naturally, the enormity of the thing comes at a cost: $19.10 out the door. Being honest, I don't know what started this trend of "more food than you can possibly eat", but it's "a thing" now, so what can you do? Buy it, and share or save half for later. But, back to the steak. I'd say the closest competitor that I'm aware of would be High Steaks in Ambler, but in terms of meat to cheese ratio and flavor, I'm giving Verona the edge. In fact, I'd say it's the best or tied with the best cheesesteak I've ever eaten, and I'm old - so that's saying a lot. So we've got a great a steak that will easily serve two, a friendly staff, and prices within the realm of what you'd expect for August 2026. In addition to those tangible things, I take some joy in seeing that the choke hold once around the wallets of locals by that other place that shares it's name with it's location, has finally been broken. Competition is a great thing, and when you're greeted with a smile and a "thank you" that accompanies your order, that makes a huge difference, and is very refreshing. My husband is from Philly and said this is his favorite cheesesteak (even over Angelo's). I have been hearing about this place from my friends, online foodies , etc , blah blah blah for years and I drive past all the time but never stop. Today I decided to stop and I am glad I did . It is a fun atmosphere with everyone taking photos of their food and out of towners following the hype , I saw a bunch New York mow rons unpacking out of an Escalade. I had my preconceived impressions about the cheesesteak by the reviews my friends have given me and from the pictures of the food. My preconceptions were spot on for the cheesesteak but the pizza was a surprise. The choice was the grandma pizza which I have seen reviews and it was definitely one of the best pizzas I have ever had . The sauce was tasty and bountiful, cheese .. quality but the crust was unlike anything I have had . It was super thin but really crispy on the bottom and I think they definitely do something special to the crust, almost like they put butter or oil on the crust to make it crispy.. very good. The cheesesteak, obviously really good but I won't order it again. The roll was really good but a little too soft on the outside, I was expecting a firm crispy outer crust with a soft inside. The steak was excellent and there was tons of meat , tons of cheese and lots of onions. The onions were cooked good and tasty but nothing ground breaking... the main issue I had was there was too much cheese, you can see it in every picture posted, I love cheese but I feel it overwhelmed the sandwich. I couldn't eat this during the work week , it would cause a good coma and that's why I never tried this place. The prices are fine for the quality of the food and it's in a nice area. This is my first time, recommended by a coworker. I usually don't eat sandwiches, so please take my rating and review with the grant of salt. I purchased a Philly chicken cheesesteak. I found the sandwich to be hot and fresh, it had a lot of meat. I didn't eat the bread, as I keep away from bread, but I ate all of the meat and honestly, I was very satisfied if not full. I did get a bottle of Diet Coke also. My total bill was $22. I thought this was rather high, but I don't know pricing for sandwiches. But it certainly was hot and fresh and tasted very good. This place was on both my dads and finances list of places to try their cheesesteaks and pizza. First the positives - the smell of this food, amazing ! Overall a great spot. I will say the place was very bus and very chaotic. It was not orderly inside and it made it very hard to be waited on. All of the tables were packed and then there were a ton of people waiting. After being called to the register they handed me a receipt which I guess had a number on and they shout the orders by numbers not your name. Honestly a little chaotic. Their online ordering doesn't work and if you don't like pizza or steaks there really isn't much else to order - it's a very small selection. There is ample parking and outside seating as well. Hit it out of the park. The place is very unassuming, tucked between a sushi place and a grocery store, but they are absolutely killing it inside. It was jam packed around lunch on a Saturday but the orders didn't take long. They sell slices and whole pies. Huge portions of meat on a sesame bun and prepared to our liking (no onions). Sandwich was so big we only ate 1/2 on site and finished the rest later. While dining in we were impressed with how quickly the staff cleared and cleaned the tables when customers finished. But the 4 star review was due to my visit to the restroom. I was so shocked at the condition and lack of cleanliness. This may sound strange but what really grossed me out was the inside of the restroom door itself - it was filthy and didn't look like it had been wiped down in quite a while, the light switch needed a wipe down too and the sink needed a good scrubbing.
