Huge portions of meat on a sesame bun and prepared to our liking (no onions). Sandwich was so big we only ate 1/2 on site and finished the rest later. The pizza looked good also, but we were hungry for cheesesteak! Nice drink selection and adequate seating; might have wanted some chips but they were not offered. While dining in we were impressed with how quickly the staff cleared and cleaned the tables when customers finished. But the 4 star review was due to my visit to the restroom. I was so shocked at the condition and lack of cleanliness. This may sound strange but what really grossed me out was the inside of the restroom door itself - it was filthy and didn't look like it had been wiped down in quite a while, the light switch needed a wipe down too and the sink needed a good scrubbing. This place was on both my dads and finances list of places to try their cheesesteaks and pizza. First the positives - the smell of this food, amazing ! All of the tables were packed and then there were a ton of people waiting. After being called to the register they handed me a receipt which I guess had a number on and they shout the orders by numbers not your name. Honestly a little chaotic. Their online ordering doesn't work and if you don't like pizza or steaks there really isn't much else to order - it's a very small selection. There is ample parking and outside seating as well. I made my husband come here. I saw an ad for this place pop up on Facebook or something, maybe some of my friends came here I think . It looked really good in photos. The cheesesteak was very good. I like that it had a lot of cheese on it. Sometimes places only put cheese on the bottom and it's kinda dry. There is so much meat in it. I could have split one with him instead of us each getting one. My husband wasn't as happy with his. He wanted a different type of cheese- he likes provolone. Soon as you walk in the places, a basic pizza shop, friendly faces and people ready to greet you. We drove an hour to get there. They've been trending with their cheese sticks, so I was frothing at the bit to get there. I do some Food reviews among other things on my YouTube channel.@Verseinator. Sent someone over to our table with two free grandma slices almost as big as a baby's head just cheese with a little basil. I had pictures, but I made a mistake and screwed it up and I don't have them long story short one was red sauce, and one was vodka. They were exceptional. A small glimpse said what was to come. My fiancé got the hot honey with cup and charred pepperoni, I got the fungi they claim to have fermented dough. I think 72 hours you can't fool my pallet. They're definitely telling the truth one of the best if not the best pizza I've had around this area like I said the ambience is simple just like any ordinary pizza shop but you're not coming there for a fancy date you're coming here to get and everything and I mean every ingredient imported from Italy pie 9.5 out of 10 have to try the wings again. They were a little tough but here again it was a 50 minute drive and I did not try them right away. On Friday 4/17 I ordered and picked up a regular cheesecake and cheese fries from Verona, mind you I had eaten from there before, about a year ago. I get home, about a q0 min drive from the restaurant. As I start to eat my steak I noticed that the roll is different from the last time I was there, it was much more chewy. The last time the roll had a nice crunch to it and the steak was well seasoned. This time the meat tasted bland, I finished half of the steak and most of the cheese fries. Within 20 mins I had the worst case of explosive diarrhea EVER! I had to rush to my bathroom! I dont know if the cooks didnt wash their hands or the meat was bad. I threw the other half away. We forgot to ask for fried onions. Odd. Why would it not come standard with fried onions. At $16 the price point was fine for a cheesesteak of this size. It truly was massive. Okay after getting 3 undercooked pizza pie from Verona, I have to update my review. When this place first opened, the food was good. Service was good. Now with the establishment being popular, service is poor and the quality of the food has went down. I hate to compare this place to another establishment but I used to think this place is better than Angelo's in the city. BUT no matter how busy Angelo's pizza gets, the service is amazing and the quality is consistent. The reason I am saying this is because I think no matter how busy you get, it's really important to keep the consistency and never forget the basics. My fiance and I drove an hour and 45 minutes from New Jersey to try this place that's been on my radar for months. I have been cooking for almost 20 years. I have been an Executive Chef for over 7 years and I have ran all sorts of different operations. This cheesesteak and their pizza is better than anything I've ever had. The pizza is better than anything in NYC and the entire NJ. We sat there and looked at each other and we both felt like we just had sex. We talked about it to everyone we knew for days. I thought the pizza was good but not great. I like the crispiness due to the brick oven. Personally, I prefer a thinner crust. I visited Verona Pizza on 03/01/2026. It was very busy, which I understand--but the customer service was extremely disappointing. The older blonde woman at the register had a very dismissive attitude, as if we were bothering her by placing an order. The younger blonde boy employee behind the counter was also dismissive and disrespectful when I asked about the status of my order, which I had placed along with the two people I came with. And after 15-20 mins of waiting, after my party already got their food. When asked to check on it, he didn't seem willing to even move from where he was standing. However, when I requested a refund, the older woman suddenly became attentive and began scrambling to locate my order. As a paying customer, I expect to be treated with basic respect and courtesy. It was frustrating to see others who walked in that what is the same complexion or Race as us get prompt and friendly service while our concerns were overlooked. I will say that the food was very good--the steak in particular was excellent. Unfortunately, the overall experience left a negative impression add taste in my mouth. Had the extreme pleasure of stopping in to Verona Pizza yesterday on my way to take my son to see Journey at Citizens Bank Park. I had been told by some people that I trust that this was a steak I absolutely needed to try. I'm happy to report that this was a fact. The place was bright and clean, the woman taking the orders was friendly and helpful, and they had both indoor and outdoor seating available. This is a $14 cheesesteak that is significantly better than these $18+ steaks I've tried. Fresh ribeye, cooper sharp, fried onion, on a seeded Sarcone's roll. There was A LOT of steak on this sandwich, and I mean a lot. I'm a big boy and I took half of this home. The onions were a good size dice, I usually like them a tad smaller but they were nowhere near the headlight sized onions at some places. The onions were also cooked perfectly. Plenty of cooper sharp melted throughout this sandwich. The roll speaks for itself, Sarcones has been a big name for a long time. If you haven't checked this spot out yet, you really should. I go home 1 or 2 times a year. And every time, I gotta get an authentic cheesesteak fix. Usually, I gotta go into Philly to get it. Growing up, there was no good cheesesteak around these parts. It wasn't a thing. I was very pleasantly surprised this winter to be craving cheesesteaks and found Verona Pizza pop up as a promising place to get cheesesteaks when I searched on. Yelp. AND it's so close in the Genaurdi's shopping center. (To me, it'll always be Genaurdi's from when I grew up in the 90s :P) I wasn't sure about the cooper's sharp, so we got classic whiz. When it came out, it was ginormous! All that cheese and steak melded together in a beautiful concoction. It was exactly what we wanted. My husband and I shared one and we were stuffed. We also shared a huge slice of pepperoni pizza, which was also divine. Where I live in California right now, the pizza is expensive and mediocre. The pizza here is what pizza should be like. This is the pizza that tastes like home. Pizza that feeds people, the masses without it costing an arm and a leg. Anyhow, I'm so glad there is such a good cheesesteak and pizza place so close to home. Next time I'll try the cooper's sharp, and perhaps the chicken parm sandwich.
