    Burrata Salad

Delicious salad with many other selections to choose from. The thick crust Detroit Pizza was unique and delicious. It comes in a rectangular size and you can cut it in 6 squares to share among two people. It was fully of favor and unique taste. Have to try another Detroit pizza if I come again. Highly recommended this place. The service was kind of slow, but the food was great.

The food was delicious. The detroit style pizza had the perfect crust and full of toppings. Our server, Sarah, was so sweet and attentive. We had a great time with good food. We would definitely go back

The location of this place is a bit odd and the menu is pretty small. There aren't a lot of options besides pizza. The pizza was delicious though. Not too greasy.

I was way overdue for trying this place. It's a local find in an unsuspecting location. It's next to the scrapyard which is behind the elementary school! But as soon as you walk in the door you will be greeted by a welcoming staff and a simple and cleverly decorated space. There are high top and standard height tables. They have an assortment of mixed drinks, beer, and wine available. We grabbed two of the traditional pizzas and a cutlet sandwich. The pizza is outstanding and I have to get back to try the Detroit style. The sandwiches are large and served on homemade pizza dough rolls. They're stuffed full of goodness. Our servers were great and I know this will be a frequent place for us.

Steel Penny Cafe was consistent the whole way through. Other restaurants should take notes. This was a great experience from start to finish. No doubt it was busy when we arrived. The parking lot is enough to deter you from wanting to dine in but thankfully we found a spot within a minute of arriving. The host added my name to a waitlist and stated it would be a 30 minute wait but we didn't wait that long. I'd say the wait was around 15 minutes. Our waitress showed up to our table promptly and took our drink orders. I love that they offer Boylan sodas. Carbonated drinks taste so much better in a glass bottle, am I rite? I ordered the diet root beer. The primary reason I wanted to visit Steel Penny was for the Detroit style pizza. Every single pie on the menu sounded incredible and looked appetizing. I ordered the rose gold - a thick square slice smothered in cheese and vodka sauce. What a dream. The dough was fluffy and crispy on the edges. I could've devoured the whole thing but I wanted to save some for dinner. I also ordered the Molten pie to-go (not pictured) and the recipient was extremely pleased with it. I'll be back to try the coffee and sandwiches next time. I don't think you can go wrong with anything you order here.

A hidden gem. The area doesn't say much but the reviews were so good that I went and gave it a try . Excellent service , good variety of wines and the sandwich amazing !! Huge portion and great quality .

Last year, a guy from Detroit recommended this place as the best Detroit style pizza in the Philly area. We checked it out, and keep coming back! Last night we ventured into their traditional pies and got a Dolcezza. Wow! Everything here is fresh, well executed. They have a great beer/cocktail list as well. Next time, we're diving into their sandwiches, which look incredible as well!

You would have to have heard about this place from someone because the odds of driving past it are slim! It's in a very industrial area but don't read that as unsafe looking. Their claim to fame is Detroit style pizza, which we had never heard of. We looked it up and it is characterized by ". . . a very thick crust and thick layer of sauce and cheese, usually with pepperoni and is baked in a heavily oiled, deep, square pan that gives it its characteristic crispy crust." There are 7 to choose from and with the recommendation from our friendly server Ashley, we went with the Pig Iron. It contained Sausage, cupping Pepperoni and Bacon. Not only was it delicious it was gigantic! There are also traditional pizzas on the menu. There are also a collection of great sounding sandwiches. We shared the Portobello and Roasted Garlic Cutlet. Among other things it had melted mozzarella, portabella mushrooms, homemade chicken cutlet, arugula, pecorino romano cheese, balsamic and lemon vinaigrette. Again gigantic and delicious. There is a small collection of sodas and canned/bottle beer on the menu as well as coffee and tea. There was enough food leftover to enjoy for dinner that night. Well worth another visit.

We've been here for lunch before and decided to try the breakfast. The whole boiled eggs in a sandwich seemed so weird but was actually quite tasty. The egg salad sandwich with bacon and Sriracha was absolutely delicious. Coffees were unique and delicious.

The dining room is shabby, chic industrial. It could have been a bit cooler during this hot spell. The service was adequate but I think they need another server. The Detroit pizza was the star. Thick, fluffy, but crusty, crispy and cheesy. The crust was delish to say the least. The homemade vodka sauce did it for me because it's my favorite. We will definitely be going back to try more menu items.

First off, it's important to note that Steel Penny does not allow customization of menu items. They're very rigid about substitutions or adjustments, which feels a bit off-putting and inflexible, especially for those who like to tweak their orders. That said, the Firenze sandwich was phenomenal. It comes with Burrata Cheese, Basil Pesto (nut-free), Arugula, Tomato, Balsamic Glaze, Sicilian EVOO, Salt, and Black Pepper, and you can choose between a chicken cutlet or Prosciutto di Parma. I went with the chicken cutlet, and it was an excellent choice. The rustic Italian bread roll was the perfect base, crusty yet soft enough to hold everything together. Every bite was flavorful, fresh, and well balanced. I also tried the Rose Gold Detroit-Style Pizza, which was very good. The crust was thick but still light, and the vodka sauce was delicious. I added pepperoni, which definitely elevated the flavor. The only real downside was the size, it's only six small slices, and for $20, that feels overpriced. Lastly, I ordered the Pumpkin Spice Latte. I asked for it extra hot, but it came out just warm. The flavor was fine, but I would have enjoyed it much more if it had been served steaming hot as requested. Overall, 4 out of 5 stars. I'd definitely go back for the chicken cutlet sandwiches as they're worth the trip. I'd hesitate to get another pizza at that price point, and I'd skip the latte next time.

What a gem this restaurant is! Tucked away between two literal steel mills is this great restaurant. There is both indoor and outdoor seating. Decent amount of parking can be found to the left of the restaurant. As soon as you walk in you hit the coffee shop, although I'm not a fan of their drinks of the month because they are too sweet for my liking, I do enjoy their normal espresso drinks. In the back is the indoor seating and you can even get a peek of the kitchen where I'm pretty sure I saw them baking their bread fresh. The star of the show here is the Detroit style pizza. My family from Michigan said their deep dish was their favorite meal they had while visiting. They also have the best Caesar salad dressing on the planet I swear. Service is friendly and quick and we were greeted by who I assume is the owner who had his daughter coloring in one of the booths, so double thumbs up for being a family owned small business. I can't say enough good things about this place they haven't disappointed us yet.

I like this traditional hoagie and cheesesteak place and the prices are also reasonable. I enjoyed the Italian hoagie but it was supposed to have 3 meats and I don't think there was any capicola and it was supposed to be one of the meats. As you can see the Italian mainly consisted of ham but I still really enjoyed it. Next time I'll get the South Philly Italian, it looks good. Also requested oil and vinegar and there wasn't any but still good. The Buffalo chicken salad was a winner and their salads are very good. I really like fountain drinks and this place only offers bottled drinks which is a negative for me.Definitely recommend this place for sandwich's or salads and more reviews will be posted.

I wasn't going to post this but if you actually sort reviews and don't just look at the top good…read moreones you'll see a lot of the same. Customer service. Old food. Lack in quality. I've mentioned in previous reviews that this location is not my favorite, I still prefer the Warminster location and that was true until I had gone recently and they moved their bakery. We had spoke to others as well who live closer to doylestown but still go to Warminster because it's just better. Maybe I'll go to Warminster when I'm in a pickle but overall I think I am done with the altomontes store. It's sad to say but this once great small business is falling and I know it will still continue to pull all the doylestown locals with $ to burn. So if you're happy serving lesser quality at exuberant costs to keep this inflated mecca Italian wonderland - so be it. But the heart of this business and the quality that Mike started is no longer. You guys really need to start paying attention to your business and stop trying to keep grow grow growing and doing all of the stuff on social media if you're not going to invest in the business and quality of what you already have. Got overcharged for pasta that literally had prices posted over all the aisles by $1 a box which sure isn't a lot but it adds up. Especially when people are budgeting and buying things by a cost. And if you're doing that to me then how many other people? Just go change your signs if you're increasing costs! They also don't have the same desserts here that they do at their alto cafe which was sad to see. I also don't appreciate how the ordering has changed. As others have mentioned too the deli counter isn't nice and they don't want to cut you fresh items. I also was directed to the pre cut deli case when I just wanted fresh cut meat. I'm just tired of spending my good hard $ at a "small business" that isn't so small any more. And forget about the quality too - I know I've posted before but the quality is not what it used to be. It's obvious they care about the bottom line then making a good product. The specials are aborrhent as others have mentioned - which as I've posted in reviews is especially sad because you see a photo of the product online and get something that doesn't even resemble the item you ordered. Its a shame that all these changes are taking away the quality and what many people loved. Sometimes it's not always best to expand and shift the business to be trendy and social media centric. Sometimes it's better to stay small and true to the original quality rather than being out of touch from the people that have quite literally helped you build your business.

When I went in there was just one girl working up front. She took my order which is a pretty consolidated menu - just a few good options of pizza, steaks and chicken cutlets and a few sides. I like that it isn't so giant. I knew I wanted to try the mozzerella sticks and I was debating between a cheesesteak and a cutlet sandwich. But also was toying with the idea of a meatball- specifically because I heard they had good sauce and I wasn't trying a pizza this trip. I went with the cheesesteak which on the menu boasts ribeye and a seeded roll. I ordered cooper sharp (usually I do American, this was the first time getting cooper sharp) and onions. Let me first say the steak was chopped perfectly the sandwich was heftyyy and it was loaded with cheese - all mixed in. Very good! Super tender meat. I will say that, personally, I'm used to getting a lighter cheese steak and adding sauce so this was definitely different for me but I can recognize how good it was. I did decided to order a side of meatballs to try - this was the only thing that didn't hit for me. They weren't bad but I would have liked more flavor. They were super tender though and I could tell they were homemade just as the menu says (hand rolled with a 200 year old family recipe) and the sauce - amazing! I topped that sauce on my steak and it was an elite combo for me as I, again personal preference, like to break up the cheese a bit. Overall the steak was really good and oh my gosh the mozzerella sticks- they were huge and the breading had such great flavor! Definitely a perfect pairing with their sauce. If I come back knowing how good the mozz breading is I definitely wanna try a chicken cutlet and pizza. The food came out super fast was super fresh. Definitely a good spot and I'm sure I'll be back!
