Thank goodness for a nearby italian spot that hits even with take out. The italian staples are FIRE here! My husband and I especially love the vodka sauce. It's especially delicious paired with the chicken parm. My mom was not a fan of the cheese fries or naked wings....I mean- it's an italian restaurant.....I could have told you those items weren't going to blow you away LOL. Went to a local favorite on Valentine's day for dinner. We frequently dine here and knew we'd be in for a delicious meal. We started with the appetizer special, calamari and caprese salad. Calamari had a delightfully light coating and fried to perfection with spot on seasoning. We ate every last piece. Next, we each got one of the special entrees, and to say they were declicion is an understatement. Hubby got the ravioli and I got the pasta with crabmeat (substitued shrip for the mussels, as I had a bad experience with them over 2 decades ago and can't go back). Both were in an out of this world lobster sauce. He finished his but I was stuffed from calamari, caprese salad and the regular salad that came with the meal. I took half home with all the sauce I could put in the container, his and mine, then proceeded to clean the rest of the sauce with some bread. Let me tell you, it was just as delicious the next day for dinner. Thank you for a wonder Valentine's meal and for every other delicious meal we've had there over the years. When we arrived at this restaurant we were seated promptly and were shown great attention by our waitress. The folks (presumably the owners) behind the counter could not have been friendlier. We had several veal dishes and one salmon entree. The brandy sauce was delicious and the red sauce on the veal parmigiana was satisfactory. Although the pasta was not homemade, it was cooked properly and paired well in the dishes we ordered. The prices were beyond reasonable. This evening, we had dinner at this restaurant. This was our first time eating at this restaurant. We arrived late 8 pm. We didn't know that it was closing. But they were kind enough to let us stay and dine in. There were still dining customers in the restaurant. Carolina was our waitress. Such a nice person. She offered us water and bread. Soon after we ordered our dinner. We were not rushed at all. We ordered calamari. It was excellent. We had salad and balsamic vinegar dressing. Both the salad and dressing were fresh and tasty. My son ordered Rosa sauce with gnocchi, my husband ordered the shrimp special and I ordered the chicken Marsala. All our entries arrived hot in temperature and tasted good. Everyplace for me is food and taste and then the other half is hospitality and cleanliness. I stopped here for a slice and my fiancé said great I'll use the bathroom. Slice was great the owner not so much I asked for a napkin he looked confused then grab one that seemed to be a misplaced one by itself on the prep table folded it back up and handed it to me he questioned my fiancé on why she didn't ask permission to use the bathroom. Went there for lunch. It was my first time there with a co worker and it was very clean. Service was very good. I had the panini paesano with french fries. The food was very fresh, well seasoned and absolutely delicious. My co worker had a chicken caesar salad which was also very tastey and fresh. Everything was absolutely delicious from the bruschetta and mussels to the arancini and main dishes. Some of the best arancini I've ever had. Service was direct and to the point. Came here on a Friday night and it was packed! We came for a 45th anniversary and though they weren't serving pizza in the dining room (due to the Friday night take out rush), they accommodated us and made the evening special. The bruschetta to start was amazing! We ordered the veggie pizza, Margherita pizza (both very good!), and the fettuccini alfredo was the highlight of the meal followed by the melt-in-your-mouth NY cheesecake! I had high hopes, but, honestly? I'm shocked at the high rating. Location has free parking. That's nice. The restaurant seems clean enough, despite the fact it needs maintenance for the paint chipping all over the walls, split wood, etc. The service is ok. People are friendly, but the service is subpar. Water is thrown onto the table in a pitcher. No one fills a glass. Boxes are thrown onto the table for you to pack. No one comes to remove dirty dishes. But the three is for the food. I took 3 bites of the eggplant parmigiana and l was done. I didn't send it back or complain. But I'm a former server, and I certainly would have noticed my customer didn't touch the food or take it to go. Pizza was awful. The veggies and crust were soggy. First time there on Saturday. Just wanting to sample a new place. Ordered a Cesar salad and the dressing came in a side container. Not what I would expect from a good Italian restaurant. My pasta was Al dent though less in volume than expected. I know in Italy it is common practice to serve smaller pasta portions but we are not in Italy. The cheese ravioli was ok, the sauce was good but too thick almost like a ragu without any meat. Service was pleasant but a little standoffish. I don't think it is worth a second look. read more

Food was average, we ordered two chicken sandwiches. 1 grilled chicken sandwich, and a different kind of chicken sandwich on a long roll not a lot of meat way too much bread. there was a small piece of grilled chicken on it, the food came out a little cold the mozzarella was melted but it got cold, but we didn't complain we were hungry. I recommend the grilled chicken sandwich, was a lot of bread but the flavor was good and the bread was softer than the long roll. Their pizza looked really good, but I didn't try. Staff was nice. Found this place while searching google for something near by since we were in the area looking for a pizza spot. Small little place, but and clean inside. Waitress was rude and not helpful and left us with no cups, napkins or any utensils. When she finally came to our table after seating us.... I did order a pizza, a Caesar salad, cheese fries and a cheese steak and it was nice she put a small plate of bruschetta on the table but at this point we still did not have small plates for sharing. Every other table was being served and had what they needed- but we had to keep reminding the waitress and asking her for this and that- the things that are normally already given to diners. So service was not good. When it came to the cheesesteak- it was great- packed with meat and flavorful. So 5 stars. The cheese fries was smothered with orange cheese- and tasted crappy... so 1 1/2 stars- the fries alone were tasty but the cheese was terrible. The large cheese pizza was amazing, soft crispy crust, good amount of cheese, nice flavor- 5 stars. Bruschetta sample was so tasty too- had me wanting more/ 5 stars. This restaurant deserves allll the stars! We arrived with every intention of eating at the mexican restaurant right beside but my husband changed his mind when we pulled up! We had been traveling all day, 15 hours in the car with a 2.5 year old and 8 month old. We were starving and just wanted something more than fast food! The open sign was on and the front door was wide open! We walked in and were seated with no issue. However we were the only ones in the restaurant. After we had been seated and the sweet lady brought was water and bread my husband noticed on the menu that they closed at 8pm. I grabbed my phone to check the time, and OMG it was 8:30! We felt horrible! The husband was able to catch the ladies attention to see if they were closed, she said yes but we will serve you, sit down! We were ready to leave because we felt so bad! She wouldn't let us leave. We asked her what was easy to fix in the kitchen. We ordered ravioli and bolognese! It was all very good and the service was top notch! I understand that must be tough for her, but we got service as if we were getting pizza parlor countertop service. The food was decent, but we had to open our own bottle, pour our own wine, and basically wait for everything else. As such, we only tipped 10%. We always tip 20% for regular service and 25-30% for exceptional service. But 10% is more than what we got as service. It's very unfortunate as this was the first time we've dine in. I love how they layered the eggplant and cheese like a lasagna so delicious and filling and the price is very affordable! This place is a real gem. It has the feel of a family-owned italian place that is safe to take the kids to but also somewhere you could go on a nice date. Nonna Giovanna's is relatively new to me but boy have i been impressed in the several times I've been there. The complimentary bread (which tastes and looks like they make it in-house) is like a wonderfully doughy pizza crust bread. The complimentary bruschetta (yes, that's complimentary too!) is also a fresh-tasting fantastic little appetizer that clues you in to just how good the entree will be. I really liked the chicken paesano sandwich. You get a generous portion of perfectly cooked juicy grilled chicken, mozzarella cheese, spinach, tomatoes, and it all fits as intended on a fresh roll. In fact, "fresh" is a word I kept thinking about the whole time. A side of crispy fries complements it well. The whole thing is so good, so satisfying. All for the incredible price of $9! This is a huge menu. There are many options here, from cheap to pricey but I can tell you if they do a $9 dish with that much care and excellence, I have great confidence in their other items. Pay attention everyone, this is how you do it. These people genuinely care about your experience there, from the homey atmosphere with calming lights, fire places in some of the walls, large colorful murals, welcoming hospitality, and best of all I feel like my food has been made by people who give a damn. We recently moved to the area but have lived in Brooklyn and New Haven, both known for high quality pizza. We had a pizza with sausage and red pepper and it was off the charts. High quality ingredients including the cheese and not drowning in sauce. And such kind and wonderful people. One note, if you are loading up on these ingredients the bottom of the dough can't possibly have the same as pizza margarita so make or choice or better still order both. Americanized Italian food but it's hard to find true authentic Italian cuisine anywhere in this country. Like, they put caramelized onions in their carbonara. Need I say more? The place is run by Italians. I'm from Detroit and Italian restaurants there are usually ran by non Italians. And I'm not use to the BYOB thing. Our waitress had an accent straight from Napoli like my grandparents so we spoke in Italian to each other which made it cool to be there. We were there on a Sunday and it was busy which is a good sign. I wanted to try the tiramisu or the ricotta cheesecake but they ran out. I had the lasagna which was good but not great. We had fun and I'll definitely be back to try other menu options and hopefully the tiramisu. read more
