Definitely an older crowd on a Friday night, but I came here with my husband and two children. The kids menu had all kinds of pasta, chicken tenders, etc. and both my kids found something they liked. We also ordered the fried calamari, the burrata salad, and the four cheese pizza. I haven't been to Il Giardino in years, and I remember the four cheese pizza being better last time, but it was still good this time! This place is BYOB as well, which is great. Great Italian BYOB Bistro near Lansdale. Though it's not quite up to the standards of our favorites in Collingswood, a great local option. Garlic bread and desserts are to die for, while the entrees were good, but not great. Both ended up a little too salty. Though it's in a strip mall and looks like a pizzeria from the outside, there's a cozy restaurant behind the take out. Service was prompt and attentive. We both enjoyed our celebration dinner. My mom, my husband, and myself came to Il Giardino for my husband's birthday on a Tuesday afternoonand were very pleased with the service, the food, and the atmosphere. The prices for the food were very reasonable for the serving size, including the desserts (which at any other restaurant would have been twice the cost). The chicken vegetable soup was bland. The soda was not watered down which I appreciated. The atmosphere is nice and staff were friendly. There was a loud party in the middle on the night we were there and it was loud AF. At one point patrons started to "shush" the party in the middle tables. Having lived in South Philadelphia for years my standards for Italian restaurants are pretty high. This one would fit right in to the old neighborhood. It's an old-fashioned place with wooden booths and a big long table for groups in the middle and the food is always well-made and the service is always great. This is my go to place when we're having a special dinner with my daughter. When you walk in, you'll see a take out counter for mostly pizza I guess but I've never had their pizza. I just keep on going into the dining room. The pizza must be good because they often see people sharing pizza in the dining room. It was never a problem when I went with my pre-teen daughter, but when I went with another adult, I realized too late that it's a BYOB. read more

Excellent food! I order their lunch pasta special frequently. It is a good price and I order meatballs (2) with it and I get 2 meals from it! The service is wonderful. They have everything hot & ready when you want it. The servers/owners are very nice. It is a small Italian restaurant right on Bethlehem Pike. This is one of my favorite little hidden gems in Spring House. The food is authentic and delicious! The garlic bread is amazing! It's not the typical bread slathered with some margarine spread, garlic powder and dried herbs. No. This is olive oil with fresh minced garlic and fresh herbs spooned out over pieces of bread. I do wonder if this bread is baked in-house anymore, as it's not as fresh and crisp as it used to be. Tonight my son and I ordered a Caesar salad to split. It was romaine, croutons, and dressing, so it was lacking in the cheese department, but still good. We also ordered a large pizza that was half plain, half veggie. Everything was fresh and flavorful! This restaurant is located in an unassuming strip of stores along Bethlehem Pike in Spring House right across from Rich's deli. When you enter the restaurant the pizza / takeout area is to your left and there is a door that leads into the dining area. We had called ahead and gave them our name but they do not take reservations. They have a call ahead list so if there is a wait they will put you at the front of the line. We were seated quickly at a table in the middle of the dining area to the rear. The decor was really nice and it didn't resemble the run of the mill strip mall pizza restaurant. They have beams below the drop ceiling that mimic an arbor and it really gives the interior a nice Italian vibe. After we sat down our water glasses were filled and soon after our waitress came over. The service during our entire meal was very attentive. My water glass never got below the half way mark before it was refilled. I ordered the stuffed hot pepper appetizer and my wife had the Mussels in a white wine broth I believe. The peppers were bright green and the sausage stuffing was very good. If you don't like really hot stuff this app is not for you. I would give it a solid B+ while the mussels on the other hand C- borderline D. The mussels were very small, chewy and the broth tasted almost only of lemon juice. I wouldn't order these again. Our dinner entrees were grilled Salmon and a Bolognese sauce in over homemade fettuccine noodles. My wife really enjoyed the Salmon and took half home for lunch the next day. I really enjoyed the sauce and the pasta was pretty good. I wouldn't say fantastic as other home made pasta but I would order it again. Since this restaurant has so many great reviews I will be back to try it again. We left feeling we spent a good amount of money for a BYO and didn't get the quality we had heard about. read more

The one consistent thing seems to be steadily rising prices and the steadily falling sizes of portions. We've done takeout here for close to 20 years. One of my wife's favorites "Torchio al Salmone" used to be called "Salmone farfala" and the price just seems to go up and portion sizes get smaller. Price in online menu: $23.99. Price in the ordering system: $26.99. Got the "Old Italian" (pictured) and while the bread was great/fresh there was no mayo or oil and no selection to add them in the online ordering system - minor compliant - but the size of the sandwich and middling amount of meat was sad something called the "Old Italian". Price on the online menu was $10.29. Price in the order system was $12.29. Oops. Thought I was getting a $12 hoagie. read more

This is a local Italian staple. They've been around since I was a kid and I've always enjoyed their authentic Italian dishes for many years. Service is usually very quick however there has been the occasional mixup so sometimes missed details are the cost paid for such fast service. The pizzas are solid though I do not care for raw garlic which is one of their toppings. The dough is on the thinner softer (sometimes soggier) side and their sauce tends to be sweet. They have a great selection of salads with lots of fresh roasted veggies and Italian meats and cheeses to chose from. The hoagies, particularly the cheesesteak are STELLAR. Great flavor and quality ingredients. Perfectly cooked and very generous on the fillings. I definitely recommend if you're looking for no frills dang good Italian Philly cuisine. read more

Best Pizza in Montgomery County. We drive to Spring House from Blue Bell and eat their Pizza hot in our car it's that good!. Yes, we have tried Pizza from the Main Line to King of Prussia, Lansdale, Glenside,Etc,Etc. We usually don't get done with our contracting business till late otherwise we would dine in more. My point is that the Pizza is that damn good that I'll gladly sit in my car to have some. Last note, over time we have come to know Mike as he puts up with my requests , ( badgering ) to get a late order in. Now this is what she got: a head of lettuce and small grape tomatoes thrown into a container. It's horrible! We used to be regular customers but we are no longer going to be going here. They order from them least once a week as well and say they are always as consistent as it comes. The food is delivered as if it were cooked on site. The stuffed long hots are to die for, and so are the cheesesteak egg rolls. (Can't find this kind of wonton wrapper anywhere out west) Pasta's are made in house, the salads and pizza are bomb. Amazing! Let's start with the salad, the balsamic dressing is homemade and is absolutely delicious. The bread is very fresh and the garlic bread has a ton of garlic, very good! All the pasta is homemade, and is tremendous! Best pasta i have ever had out! My husband ordered the chicken parm, comes in a very cool skillet, chicken was very crispy which gives it a great texture. The gravy was amazing. Side of pasta is homemade! I ordered the tortellini, so fresh and so many flavors in your mouth at once! The sun dried tomatoes provides such a great flavor! For dessert we ordered a cannoli, just like the rest of the meal, it was amazing, did not disappoint! The service was my water was never even half filled, bus boys were constantly at my table. The only disappointment was that the magnificent garlic rolls that come with the meal are no more--now it's cuts of Italian bread with the garlic and oil hastily poured on it, with tbe sauce not attaching to much of it. This was recommended by my better half's friend - our first visit. We had missed lunch and ended up extremely interested in having an early dinner - it was 3pm. It was relatively quiet - a large group in the back enjoying what sounded like a fun family gathering - we were seated comfortably away from them, allowing them to have fun and us to have a quiet booth for conversation. Menus, water all provided swiftly, even though our server was also supporting the family gathering... we realized it was the lunch menu - asked if it was too early for the dinner menu - and without a pause "Absolutely no problem at all!"... I found the service, ambience, and food to all exceed my expectations... and if you read my reviews - you know I'm ruthless to restaurants that serve food that should be hot, not. They start you with bread- go for the garlic. It's delicious Italian bread smothered in olive oil, chunks of minced garlic, and parsley. Then die because it's so good. Everything my table got- pasta, pizza, salmon, salad, calamari- was amazing. Veryyyy large portions of pasta. We also got three desserts- the dark side of the moon chocolate cake, tiramisu, and exotic bomba. Whoa. All of it was excellent. I was hesitant about the Bomba- passionfruit and mango sorbet covered in white chocholate? Sounds weird but works perfectly. Maybe one of the best desserts I've ever eaten. My dad said the tiramisu was the best he's ever had. Seriously try this place. 10/5/16: update- went here again with my parents and it was every bit as amazing as last time. I got the special which was gnocchi in cream sauce with prosciutto, spinach, and black truffle. Amazing. My dad got the chicken parm- there was so much food and the chicken was thin and crispy and covered in cheese. My mom got angel hair Bolognese- she lovedddd it. We also ate wayyyyy to much garlic bread and got a tiramisu and exotic Bombay again. The service was attentive and at first the girl was talking to us for wayyyu too long, but that's ok. We love this place. However the last time we were there the red sauces were way too sweet in both dishes we had. One was a pasta dish and the other chicken. I know that they are not made to order and I know prior to Covid that they didn't taste as sweet. Hopefully they will see this and adjust the seasonings. read more
