Pasta Fazool Maria and I absolutely love Pasta Fazool it's one of those rare places that feels special every single time you walk in. The food is consistently outstanding, the portions are incredibly generous, and everything tastes truly homemade and made with care. A huge shoutout to Sergio, the owner and chef, for always creating such an amazing experience. You can tell he takes real pride in every plate that comes out, and his table-side conversations and funny stories make the atmosphere even better. In the mood for some good Italian? Pasta Fazool won't disappoint. I can't count the times we passed on stopping in by judging this book by its cover. Disguised as a glorified pizza shop, nestled in a strip of stores on the corner of Mill & York in Hatboro - Pasta Fazool is anything but We were lucky to get a seat when we popped in on a Friday evening The hostess recommended reservations but was able to seat us since we were there earlier than the dinner crowd. Lots to choose from on the menu and the staff is friendly. The store front bistro has only a handful of tables and a kitchen full of flavor. From the meatball appetizer- though to the cream brûlée desert our meal was both enjoyable and satisfying. Very good local Italian restaurant with young enthusiastic staff where you better have a reservation or you may not get a table. It's been awhile since we were here but it still serves up delicious dishes and is usually filled with families celebrating a special occasion. The in-house (?) made pastas are very good with serving sizes generous. The Rigatoni Bolognese as well as the Lasagna Bolognese were delicious. The Rigatoni Carbonara was very good although in addition to the usual egg yolk, it was served with a cream sauce. Date night destination - no, but fun and alive location - yes. We heard about this place theough the grapevine, and we are happy we did! Our waitress was awesome, as well as all the staff that were working with her. Nice team work all around. The Brussels Sprouts with Sausage was very tasty, and we really appreciated the special order they made for us. If it isn't on the menu and they have the ingredients, they will make it for you. And, substitutions are allowed, too, since everything is made to order. My Veal Frediani was very tasty; however, I do wish the ziti was cooked longer, but that may be a personal preference. Just a little too much bite for me. My sister and niece enjoyed their meals, as well - shrimp with scallops over pasta and chicken parmigiana with angel hair pasta. I am probably the worse critic because I love to cook but the bread was stale/dry so we returned it and she said that was from Monday, let me get you some fresh bread...oh ok! my friends meal had hair on the plate and it was tasteless. We decided to visit Pasta Fazool again. We made reservations for 6PM. When we arrived at the restaurant, there was only 1 other table taken. It may have been since it is a holiday weekend but the restaurant filled up quickly. By 7PM, all tables were taken. My hubby ordered the cream of mushroom soup with crabmeat and the dinner special with shrimp and scallops served over risotto with a mushroom sauce. I ordered the Pasta Fazool soup and the Tony Soprano's Supper special (hot and mild sausage, meatballs, braised beef short ribs, and filet mignon tips served over pasta). The portions were large. We definitely have leftovers for a few meals. We ordered the Lemon Mascarpone cake and the homemade Dulce de Leche ice cream for dessert. We enjoyed the complimentary shots of Limoncello and a chocolate hazelnut shot. The waitstaff were very attentive. Savannah was very personable and friendly. When you make eggplant parm or any parmesean, do you bread it and fry in oil so it's nice and crispy before putting the mozzerella and sauce on top (or gravy, however you want to say it) ?? I had an issue with PASTA FAZOOL IN HATBORO this evening where I have lived for over 20 years. Their menu states they bread and fry their parmesian.. see the pics of this great "breaded and fried" eggplant parmesean as well as their description in their menu.. It was NOT breaded OR fried? It was a pile of grey looking meat, not a nice looking crispy fried eggplant with mozzerella and gravy. Not a big deal except when I called them to ask why it wasn't breaded or fried, I was met with a terrible attitude from Savanna who was very rude and simply said "it is egg battered and cooked in a pan and this is how we have made it for years" i asked her if she was a manager and she said "yes, i manage the front of the restaurant". Ok so you're a hostess/cashier. Mind you, this girl sounded like she was no older than 17 years old. All I wanted was an acknowledgement that they were sorry that i was not happy with the meal. Then she puts the COOK on the phone who was even more rude than her (Savannah) the " manager"! I only wanted an I'm sorry and let us give you a credit for your next meal... $20, that's it. The cook told me when he goes out to dinner and he is not happy with a meal he "SUCKS IT UP" Really?? This is unacceptable that I was transferred to a COOK to tell me to suck it up!! I would never ever boycott a small business in my own township, but the way I was treated...I'm just so blown away and I feel betrayed being a long time resident in this area. Great food but greedy. Make sure you ask how much your take out order is when ordering. Ordered Spaghetti and meatballs ($15.95 on menu). Asked if we can possibly get spaghetti in a pink sauce (adding some heavy cream in the red sauce). A friend driving by offered to pick up for me. He called me saying that it $25.39 for the spaghetti and meatballs. When I called the said they changed my order (without asking or telling us) to penne alls vodka with a side of meatballs. I have to reconsider ordering and dinning in here again. Just not good business practice. If calling in an order just reconfirm your order and ask for a price. Consumers have to start pushing back against these businesses being greedy and gauging. Pandemic is over - enough already. Response to your reply Sergio. 3+ is my overall score after having dinner here last Sunday night. Some of the food was very good, eggplant parm (could have had more sauce), cavatelli with brocholi, and gnocchi. The pasta fazool soup was luke warm and uninspired. The greek salad was very basic with lettuce, a couple pieces of chopped cucumber and tomato, couple of olives, not worth the price. Two of us had rigatoni carbonara and said it was quite oily, a bit heavy, tasty overall. Side of sausage was ordered which had to be sent back to reheat as it came out barely look warm. The portions were large. The service was excellent. The restaurant was busy. Ambiance ok. Loved BYOB. This has been a family fav for many years. This place is consistently inconsistent. A visit a few weeks ago was surprisingly good, last night not so much. Vinegary tomato sauce, so so veal, dense bread with a good crust. Service was pleasant with way too many, "you got it" responses. An effort should be made to have the cashier use an adding machine when making change as well. All our food was tasty and service was friendly. I'm not sure if this is normal because of covid, but this is a two man operation, the chef in the back and Sal in the front. Got angel hair bolognese, a side of meatballs, a side of sausage, and a tiramisu. $41 spent which I thought was ok for a place with a 4.7 google rating... boy was I wrong!!! The meatballs were flavorless and chewy, the sauce was boring. The sausage was decent but in the same boring sauce. The bolognese was nothing exciting as it was basically the meatballs mushed up into the pasta sauce. Then on to the tiramisu... which was the most sorry thing I've ever seen tiramisu look like. The flavor was not bad, but I've had way better before. As stated before, I won't be going back and I suggest others try another Italian restaurant. I was up in business in the area and stopped in to have a bite in this unassuming little place in a strip mall. To tell you the truth before walking in I never anticipated what the meal would be like. I was met by Sal, the manager. He is a gentleman. I have no idea why this place doesn't have 5 Stars, a Willow Grove "diamond in the ruff" of a hidden gem for sure. The staff is impeccable and super nice. Their dishes may be a bit pricey, but one entree is literally enough for three meals, so the prices are appropriate. I'm not kidding when I say I ate their chicken parm for three days afterwards. Had reservations yesterday for a party of 9 following my daughter's graduation ceremony. We were all blown away of how great everything was. The waitress was excellent too. She was friendly, answered all of our questions and was so efficient. Our portions were big and delicious, and our leftovers were just as good today. Very impressed!
