Amazing staff, beautiful atmosphere, and most importantly, delicious food. The owner himself greeted us at the table and told us all about the specials of the night and checked in on us regularly to make sure that everything was perfect. Uva is a small business, family owned, and operated - not a flashy chain. The price is a little higher, and you may wait a little longer than other places for your food - but that is all due to intentional, cooking, quality ingredients, and caring about what they are sending to the table. If you're looking for a quick saucy dish, then the OG is for you... but if you're looking for good quality food, Uva is the place to go. Service is always excellent. Their specials are always delicious. The capellini was full of flavor and fresh. The chunky tomato sauce had a little kick. And the seafood was plentiful. You can always get a great steak here. The steak temp is always exactly as requested. The bread pudding to finish up hit all the right notes. It was warm and served with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream. We arrived late to a private event, greeted everyone and found a table for the four of us. Multiple people arrived after us and also sat down. Everyone received service except for our table. This included the table of 8 who arrived after us and sat behind us. While the waiter was at their table, I waived him down because no one was coming over to us. He turned, looked me in the eye, then turned and walked away. When I went to the server stand to see what the issue was, I was I formed that we wouldn't be receiving service, as they anticipated that they would be serving only the main dinning room. There were multiple other tables in the side dinning room that were seated with us. Why cut just us four off and not everyone else? If there were more people than anticipated, hand me a menu and request I pay my own way. We were starving!!! I will not be back simply because of the rude manner in which we were treated by the wait staff. If they had an issue, they should have pulled aside the event planners to determine what they wanted done. Instead they treated us with such disrespect! read more

I've passed Uva for years now, & have heard great things about this wonderful BYOB in Richboro. I finally had a chance to dine there on a recent Saturday night & am delighted to report that the food was fresh & delicious. Although parking in this strip mall was more difficult than I had anticipated, it was worth it. The restaurant feels fresh & clean with crisp white linen tablecloths & folded black napkins set on the tables with both wine & water glasses & fresh flowers. Fresh Italian bread with a crispy crust is served with a garlic & herb oil is a nice start while deciding what to order. Plenty of specials were presented by a friendly & efficient waiter who also opened our wine bottles. I started by splitting the Mozzarella in Carozza appetizer with another diner. This was 5 nice rounds of deep fried buffalo mozzarella with a fresh tomato sauce. We both felt that the sauce could have benefitted from some garlic or heat. Others raved about the Crab Bisque & the Beet & Goat Cheese salad. My entree was the Veal Parmagiana with Angel Hair pasta. I don't usually get a chance to order a good veal parmesan & thought this had to be the place - & I was right! The veal was two large, delicious, tender, perfectly breaded & cooked pieces of veal cutlet covered in a generous amount of fresh mozzarella & a fresh tomato sauce made from crushed tomatoes and a perfect balance of seasonings. I chose to have angel hair pasta instead of the penne. It was perfectly cooked al dente & had the same sauce with the requested extra garlic. I could only eat half of my entree & am looking forward to having a second meal from what I took home with me. Others in my group raved about the salmon & the Seafood Fettuccini Alfredo special, rich with a large 6 oz. lobster tail, shrimp & crabmeat. I'd like to go back to try their lamb shank with asparagus risotto. The prices were reasonable for this level of dining. My veal was $29.50 & the appetizer was &14.00. Finally got to try UVA. Glad we did. It is a very nice local, neighborhood restaurant. You could tell they want to please. Menu is a "me too" Italian menu...all the good popular dishes. Love and appreciate a good byob. Wasn't quite sure what to expect since it is in a small strip mall shopping center. Pictures on Yelp and their web page looked nice from what I could tell. And...it was a very nice first impression. Lots of tables in the room and sure filled up fast Saturday night dinner. Definitely need reservations. Noise level increased of course which was to be expected. Our server, Walter, was very nice and efficient. Basket of bread and oil for dipping came right out. Love that. Bottles of wine quickly opened. They got that down for sure! Changed my mind several times for my menu choice...pork chop? Chicken françese? Angel hair pasta with asparagus? So many great choices. I ended up with chicken saltimbocca and a side of angle hair pasta. Good choice. My pasta was delicious. Chicken was good, could have been more tender but still good. Hubs enjoyed his veal Marsala. Some pieces more tender than others. I think the winner was the spinach gnocchi with ground veal. It was a generous portion and looked yummy. Wish I tasted it. My husband and I shared a Caesar salad. It was definitely large enough for two. It was good. My husband asked the price of one of the specials. We were four people at the table and we all heard him say a lower price. I had Cajun salmon. It was a small piece and very dry. I asked for a side of the sauce that's used for the regular salmon. When the check came we were surprised to see the special was $46. The waiter definitely told us the wrong price. When we are splitting the check we don't order a meal that expensive. The waiter took off a couple dollars but not enough. We will return but be more careful when ordering from the special dinners. read more

For anyone who had the good fortune to dine in the Chambersburg neighborhood of Trenton, NJ, when it was all Italian and offered exceptional ristorantes all around, Uva in Richboro is a welcome blast from the past. Furnished in faux opulence that somehow is appropriate, with black and white service and memorized menus in every detail; just take a seat and allow yourself to be transported to yesteryear and mange to your heart's content. Prices are up since Covid, but once you get over the sticker shock, it is possible to indulge in an excellent meal. Our Calamari Frita was a large platter of rings and tentacles dusted well and accompanied by a mildly spicy dipping sauce. Best we've had in a long while. The Veal Marsala in a delicious brown mushroom demi glaze, and Chicken Francaise in its tawny wine and lemon wash, were both very tender, cut with a fork and hit all the right subtle notes. Both came with house veggies (string beans) and garlic mashed. Our tongues danced to their silent melodies. Even the crusty loaf and garlic oil dip were superb and played their orchestrated roles. By the time the house captain (owner) came around with the dessert tray, we apologized for being stuffed already from food and bottle of pino noir, and unable to further test our capacities for gluttony. His knowing smile showed his understanding of our offhand compliment. Really enjoyed celebrating my brother's birthday at Uva. Great food, nice atmosphere and delicious food. We started with appetizers of Brucetta, eggplant rolatini, fried mozzarella and clams casino. Gotta say we loved all bit the clams casino. Just a miss. Our entrees were served timely and everyone loved what they ordered, especially the veal chop Parmesan. Love that it is a byob and we brought a birthday cake. They happily brought out the cake and serving pieces. A special touch is the musician. Food and servicer were good. I am giving this restaurant one star because twice in the last week they charged my table the additional fee for using a credit card when in fact we paid with cash. This is a fraudulent practice which, in my opinion, should be escalated to the attorney general's office. The waiter came over to our table when we asked the busboy to bring him over and belittled us for bringing this to his attention. He finally brought us a bill with the correct total saying it brought the bill down $9.00 but he reduced the bill by $10.00. This is a DISGRACEFUL practice which should not be tolerated. I paid cash when I went there last Friday and I was charged and paid almost 5% more because they added that amount to my check. When I received my change, on both occasions, they did not include the original check where I could easily review the total. BE AWARE and check your total when you pay because, in my experience, they will charge you the penalty whether you pay with cash or not. read more

Although it's local, it was my first time at this restaurant. I was with a large group (12ppl) on a Friday night. We had a lovely square table in a semi private area towards the back of the restaurant. The restaurant was busy, but not packed. We had pre-ordered appetizers and salads and they were served almost immediately upon everyone's arrival. The service was good, we had three waiters who made sure everyone got what they needed. The atmosphere the and decor have a lovely modern feel, very clean and tasteful. We sat from 7 to 10pm and never felt rushed, even once the restaurant cleared out and we were pretty much the only people left. I ate the shrimp, goat cheese and beet appetizer, it was full of flavor, the shrimp perfectly grilled and balanced out with the tart goat cheese and the sweet beet. We also had calamari, lightly breaded and fried, and perfectly salty, eggplant rolottini was just delicious. I also had the ceasar salad and it was very good. Everything was full of flavor, fresh and delicious. I was already full by the time my main dish was served. I had lobster and shrimp in spicy sauce, I substituted the spinach for the linguine. The few bites I managed to eat were really special. The sauce was lightly spicy. I am not typically a fan of lobster, but it was cooked very well. A delicious dish that I would order again (and can't wait to enjoy as my lunch leftovers.) I did not have anything for desert because I was just too full, but the dessert tray looked beautiful with a lot of tasty options. We have been here many times. I hate to give a low rating but our last visit was terrible experience. Me and my husband decided to have the dinner through the weekdays at UVA. Surprisingly they were people at the restaurant. Usually on Wednesday there is not too much people. We ordered the food and it took them forever to bring service. When they finally brought my main course I found a hair in my dish black and long and obviously brought it to my waiters attention. He took my plate said sorry and left with the plate. They charge us for the whole dinner and acted like nothing happened. I was very disappointed and obviously could not eat nothing else. So no more UVA Dinner! read more

However, the entrees my husband and I ordered were very disappointing. We shared and did enjoy the lobster and crab stuffed shrimp appetizer which was excellent. Honestly, we had the best time! Food was delicious but the atmosphere was so impressive. First time dining there and we felt like we were hanging with friends but also had our alone time. Pauli was everything that you would want in a waiter. Made good food recommendations and talked to us as if we were his best costumers and he's known us forever. Another server Mike was just on top of his game. They all complimented each other as they worked. Including Robby, who was quick to get water and bread to every table and to clear the tables so fast when guest were done. They all worked together so that they didn't skip a beat. No one in this place felt rushed or unimportant and it was busy. Somehow, the staff made each and every guest happy and satisfied- start to finish! We found our new place! read more

Where do you start, we'll let's start with the dried food smeared across the menu, clams casino lacked flavor, my guess they were made and frozen, calamari and marinara were good, very good. Entrees , "homemade" fettuccine with seafood, definitely not homemade pasta, no salt in the water to cook the pasta, pasta was cooked perfectly, shrimp were over cooked, scallops were okay, thinking they were not dry scallops, for 42.00 it was not worth it. The barramundi over crab risotto, no flavor on the fish , flesh had a nice sear, skin was left on and it was completely soggy, risotto was on the dry side, crab added at the end, no flavor, "tomato beurre blanc sauce" not a beurre Blanc sauce, spinach was cooked well. The chef needs to be introduced to kosher salt, definitely needs to taste his own food. Cappuccino was watery, not made with good quality coffee, the creme brûlée straight awful, the fruit inside was old, the texture was thick almost gritty and at 9.50 should have flecks of vanilla bean in the creme anglaise , fruit was not fresh, the banana napoleon was good. My guess is no one Italian owns this place, or has anything to do with it. Food is so close to being great. Wait staff was solid. Definitely will not be back, and would not recommend. read more

Last evening, 37 ladies gathered together for dinner at Uva. We were promptly seated. The waitstaff was ready. Each of us selected exactly what we preferred for our four course meal. The kitchen was able to meet the needs of several ladies with dietary requirements. Not an easy task with this large a group. The food was beautifully prepared and presented. No complaints from this group! The restaurant itself is beautifully designed and is very welcoming. The water walls are great room dividers while offering changing colors to compliment the contemporary feel of the restaurant. All in all, a terrific night! This has always been our go to place for dinner and celebrations. We've always been treated nicely and had good service and delicious food. I made reservations for our 50th anniversary. We celebrate all our anniversaries here. I called up and requested a piece of cake with a candle for dessert. I wanted to surprise my husband. The girl said there wouldn't be a problem. When I got to the place, I spoke to her again..in length to remind her. She again said it would be done for me. After dinner, I anxiously waited for the cake with a candle to come out. They brought the piece of cake i ordered, but NO candle. I was heartbroken. I walked up to the girl to ask her what happened and she said" i guess they were busy". Excuse me!!! This is no excuse. I watched other tables getting candles. I told her she ruined my anniversary surprise and she meekly said, I'm sorry. I'm not cheap, but it would have been nice to at least have the price of the cake removed or give us a little gift card. We were treated so poorly. Nobody should be treated this way! Until the end of time, we would have bypassed Uva, and its neon violet signage, if dear friends had not heartily recommended the place. Distinguishing Uva from typical upscale suburban restaurants is its downtown vibe including exuberant artwork, a grand piano as a focal point, romantic lighting and a superior waitstaff. An additional bonus: Uva has live (and not cheesy) entertainment! A further bonus: It's BYO!! The noteworthy atmospherics were an accurate harbinger of the excellent cuisine to come. We were first presented with a saucer of a lovely, fruity olive oil surrounding an island of roasted garlic and accompanied by a basket of chewy bread. Nice hello! Mr. M's Caesar salad was composed in a free-form vessel made from very thin bread dough. It was exquisite to view and quite delicious to eat. Mr. M's only critique was that the dressing would have been enhanced with a smudge more anchovy. My arugula salad was huge (seemingly the equivalent of an entire plastic tub of same). It was lightly dressed in a lemon-based vinaigrette. Delish. Mr. M ordered the special aged, prime-grade ribeye, which was accompanied by thick-stemmed asparagus spears and golden roasted fingerling potatoes. An exquisite mushroom Madeira sauce finished the dish. "Brilliant," proclaimed my favorite dinner companion. He was still talking about the Madeira sauce two days later. My mussels in a herbaceous white wine sauce and served atop linguine were delicious. The sauce was perfectly-balanced and flavorful. My only quibble with the dish is that the mussels were puny compared to those at Capone's. We shall return to Uva with exquisite wine to complement its exquisite food. read more

Tonight we were driving through Richboro and decided to try a new place. I bookmarked UVA and I am glad I did. We came in on Mother's Day without a reservation, so we expected to be turned away. To our surprise the hostess seated us almost immediately outside on the tree lined patio. The weather was beautiful and the patio had tables with umbrellas to keep the sun off of the patrons. A waitress took our drink order quickly and brought us some bread and a roasted red pepper dip that was out of this world. Our waiter came over and introduced himself and told us the specials, which all sounded delicious. I ordered the Chicken Parmesan and my wife ordered the TriColored Tortellini in a pesto sauce. We also split a Cesar salad. The food came out quickly and was timed well so we didn't feel rushed. We both really enjoyed the entrees so much that we didn't leave room for dessert. I look forward to going back and trying additional dishes. Inside they had a piano player performing. The only suggestion I have for the restaurant is to pipe the live music out to the patio. read more

Last night my family had the wonderful opportunity to enjoy a magnificent meal in a bright, spotless and safe environment. Being a byob was just icing on the cake. Our party of 4 arrived without reservations around 6 and had no wait to be seated ( not the case 20 minutes later) . Reservations are recommended. We opened with calamari that was so crispy and light it melted in my mouth, served with fried banana peppers and a tasty Dijon sauce. My wife and her cousin had an excellent sea bass I ordered the short rib stuffed ravioli ( the daily specials) that was so delicious I found myself tempted to "lick the plate " from the regular menu the shrimp scampi was both delicious and generous enough for a teenage boy to bring home half for his midnight snack . My only regret is that I was to full to order dessert!! Next time I'll cut back on the bread , maybe. Groups can be accommodated as well, watched as a group birthday party arrived with no interference to the table service. This is my second time coming here. The first was a great experience, though waiting on the food took longer than i'd have liked. Tonight's experience- was horrible. The service itself was great, but the food hit my fiancé and I hard. We both shared the steak(undercooked at first/was sent back) and then shared the yummy spinach gorgonzola gnocchi. Unfortunately not even 30 minutes after we left we both got violent stomach pain that resulted in us having to pull over before we could even make it home. Not sure if the food had been contaminated, expired or what but it was not a pleasant situation. I will not be returning here again. read more

I ate at this restaurant on 3-4-23 at night. The seating on the right side was overly packed with chairs back-to-back and servers trying to squeeze by as we ate. The music was obnoxiously loud and sounded distorted. Everyone sitting in my section to include the servers complained about how loud the music sounded. We could not hear the waiter or each other, it was as if we were in a night club. I've never been to a sit-down restaurant with music that loud, it was unbearable. The performer sounded horrible with music that varied but not suited for an Italian restaurant. Our waiter could not have been more disinterested in our table, that other staff had to check on us and after waiting 20 minutes after our meal a very polite woman asked if we would like desert.
