Vecchia Osteria is what looks to be the neighborhood BYOB. Their paper reservation book is large and full, and staff hugs show that there are many regulars. This is not a fancy place, but offers large portions and an extensive menu. The sautéed garlic carrots starter they bring is a nice touch (and delicious). We ordered the grilled calamari which were large pieces over dressed arugula. The arugula was dressed minimally and the calamari was over cooked and chewy. For mains, we got the pappardelle bolognese (homemade pasta with an average sauce), chicken francese, and veal funghi (3-sizable pieces covered in mushrooms and sun-dried tomatoes). All dishes were good-- not great, not bad. We ended the meal with the limoncello cake. It was good, despite it not being recommended by the waiter (that was an awkward exchange). It was a decent meal at a BYOB, but nothing to write home about.

Haven't been here in awhile and was glad to see it was still packed on a Saturday night but still didn't have to wait long for our table. The room we were in, for the most part, had tables for big parties - 8 to 10 people at each and they were full. The wait for our dinner was also very reasonable. The Fried Calamari was a little disappointing this time around - although good it was on the dry-side. The Spaghetti Carbonara was as good as I had remembered it and was again my favorite of all the entrees. The Squid Ink Ravioli with Shrimp was a very very good evening special. The Spaghetti and Meatball entree was good. The menu is large but not overwhelming and we look forward to coming back again soon to try something besides pasta. BYO makes it a nice choice too.

I am a lover of Italian. I enjoy pretty much any Italian dish and revel in finding a new spot I had yet to discover. This past Sunday, we checked out Osteria. Tucked in the back of parking lot the tiny eatery offers indoor and outdoor dining. The staff warm an inviting. Despite my server reminding me of the villain in the current book I am reading; his service was on point. The meals were served hot and promptly, but lacked the umph that we were expecting. They fell above Olive Garden (thankfully) but couldn't reach the bar of Carlucci's The pasta did taste hand made (a plus) but the flavors of the sauces and the skimping on the cheese on the parmigiana were disappointing. Lots of salt. Chef is quite liberal with salting everything thoroughly. I do enjoy having a salad option with meal and of course bread is a must when eating Italian, but none was not offered. We were full, as the servings are plentiful - but sadly left no room for dessert. Vecchia is BYOB, but as others sat around us, it seemed as though "complementary" house wine was provided if asked. (Perhaps perks of being a regular) Would I return, perhaps, but also so many places to try it may be some time before we make it back.

Vecchia Osteria was AMAZING! We went for Mother's Day and felt like we were apart of the family! From the apps to the desserts we were guided by our amazing server who joyfully walked us through the menu! The food was DELICIOUS and the decor was so cute and homey! We also happened to stumble upon the owners on our way out who doubled down on all the hospitality we were greeted with inside! An all around great experience, every bite will leave you wanted more!!

    Pasta Fagioli

First time here and we got the pasta fagioli, eggplant rollatini, clams casino, rigatoni vodka, ravioli, and lemoncello cake. The pasta fagioli was the best I've ever had, must try if you visit. Other stand out was the eggplant rollatini and the lemoncello cake, I'm usually a chocolate fan but this limoncello cake changed my mind! I got the rigatoni vodka and the past was cooked perfectly as well as the sauce, was not too overpowering. Felt like you were in Italy with the ambiance, very welcoming. Service was 10/10! Waiter was helpful and made great recommendations. In addition, we were served very fast! Will definitely become a staple place

If you are like me and grew up in an Italian household where grandma made Sunday sauce or maybe you are looking for some good homemade sauce but don't have the time to make it yourself - I found the next best. If you are in the Newtown, Bucks County, Pa area the place to go and get your jar of homemade sauce is at Pasquale's Vecchia Osteria or his Aqua e Farina, both on Richboro Road in Newtown. Pasquale's food and sauce has always been raved about - whether the Chicken Parm or a good pasta dish - the sauce is everything. He has now jarred his recipe and sells it in his restaurants. You don't have to believe me, but believe your taste buds.... Have a meal first, fall in love with the sauce & then get some while heading out the door... You will come back for more.... Ciao my friends.

Have to say that while it appears to be an amusement park from beyond the fence with massive water slides and multiple aquamarine pools for various uses; from within it makes more sense and is actually quite attractive in a hyperactive way. Happy Hour with half price drinks was a good deal, and the bar food offerings were also well designed to complement the alcoholic drinks, if not all that tasty, nor compelling in their own right. So many people in a relatively small space around the bar, that conversation was a bit challenging. Plenty of alternative distractions among the many "beautiful" folks who enjoy being the center of attention, and know how to do it right, especially when encouraged with beverage. With music playing in the background the experience was a mixed bag. Clearly, the plan is a bit over the top, and made for people with kids or those who like this glitterati experience. Yet, there was a full house that evening, and business was booming. Covid put an end to the crowds for the last year, but I suspect the club will be back in action full tilt come vaccinations and reduced mask wearing. I'm the more cautious type, and will wait a while before accepting my next invitation.

Also loved the smash burger -- delicious and no pretentious frills -- but the fries were the standout; homemade, hearty and crispy. The pumpkin and pretzel casarecce pasta was very tasty as well, and the small-sized portion was plenty. Clearly the chef is talented and takes their work seriously. Given that they don't sell liquor & you can bring your own, the prices are fantastic. Cheapest dinner I've had since the early 2000s lol. They do have some N/A wines, beers and cocktails for those who don't care about booze. I could see this place being perfect for breakfast or lunch because it has beautiful views of the river. We came for dinner, and within 20-30 minutes, it was pitch black outside so we didn't get to enjoy the view. The lighting in the restaurant for dinner is too bright, which takes away from the atmosphere and makes it seem more like a takeout restaurant than upscale dining. Our server was great but the food took way too long to come out. It was about 30 minutes to get a salad. Not sure if they were short-staffed or that's just how it is but because the food was good enough, we will definitely come back to find out!

But that truly was our only negative. Our server, Rachael, was excellent and we credited her great service to adding to our awesome dinner at 59 Almshouse. Started with a round of cocktails. I normally get a dirty martini but those short stubby martini glasses ruin it for me...I dislike those glasses. I took the lead from our friend who raved about the Smokey Old Fashion. He was right...one of the best cocktails I have had outside of my regular dirty martini. I look forward to ordering that every time now. It had a bit too much ice so next time I will request less ice for sure. And wow...the smell of the smoke and the drink were outstanding. The menu choices are all so good...difficult to choose bc I wanted about 10 things...I was ready to switch it up from my normal ahi tuna which I get every time. Well, I picked the mahi-mahi fajitas. This has now taken first place and moved up to my new favorite. I loved it! Sooo much food that I hope to share it next time. Leftovers are fine too. They do the fajitas extremely well and I highly recommend. Hubs ordered the Thanksgiving dinner, which is funny since Thanksgiving is in a few days. But that too was outstanding. (I had to taste it) It was a generous portion and he "gobbled" up a good amount and raved how good it was several times as he was eating. Hubs rarely gets that excited about his food which says a lot. Our friends enjoyed and raved about their food as well. Not sure there is a bad thing on the menu. Everything was cooked perfectly and served hot. They do this extremely well. I am not deducting a star for the noise level bc they truly deserve 5 stars. My compliments to the chef and to our server Rachel.

The service was somewhat slow, but the waitress was very nice. Their beer was in cans or bottles. I ordered a Head Hunter IPA and it had a date code from the summer, so their stock was a bit old. I split a bowl of crab bisque $15 with my son. It was ok on spices/flavor and had small strips of crab, but the body was on the thinner side and I didn't think it was creamy enough. A miss, plus the guy who brought it out must have had the soup shift on the walk over so he had his thumb on top of the spillage that went onto the rim. I should have sent it back, but we were hungry. The small cornbread muffins that we had before our meals came out were tasty. After discussing the lunch menu with the waitress she said the Yardley Burger was very popular. $19 - roasted tomato, boursin cheese, hand cut fries. My son ordered the chicken cutlet - $18 fresh mozzarella, vodka aioli and chips. He skipped the sauteed spinach that was supposed to come on it. They took awhile to come out. The burger had a ridiculous amount of boursin on it (plenty of herbs and garlic coming off it), the meat was bland and the hand cut fries were a tad soggy. Even the bun was weak, so for $19 they can keep it. My sons sandwich was much better. The vodka aioli flavor was a home run with the thick cutlets. Still not worth $18, but much better than the burger. I had a Yards Washington Porter with my burger that slightly helped my disappointment. This place only gets the 4th star because I love history and the building has it. It was just OK other than that. Maybe a dinner/date night is in order to see what these higher yelp reviews are all about. Their entree prices seem much more in line. For lunch, I'm a no.
