Overwhelmingly surprised! I have never been before and I was sent to Green Straw to pick up an Acai bowl for the wife and ended up ordering the BLT-A for myself. I absolutely LOVED greenstraw! I was craving something healthy and delicious and voila, there it was. Fruit quality was great and I had enough toppings for every bite (this is CRUCIAL!). Would recommend getting their bowls for sure! The one thing was that I asked if I could sub almond butter instead of the coconut and granola (both of which oddly give me a stomach ache) but I was charged for adding it. The Greenstraw is our go to place for everything healthy. We drive about 30 minutes at least once a week to get Açai bowls, smoothies and other healthy items from their menu. (There is so much to choose from). Their Açai bowls are the best I've ever tasted. Their homemade Granola is amazing. Smoothies, delicious! Giving a 4 instead of a 3 because I love the concept, and I LOVE being able to come in and get fresh smoothies. I want this to get better. That said - I feel like the service vacillates bigtime between who is working. On Saturday morning the staff was wonderful. I got a smoothie for me, cold pressed juice, and a smoothie for my nephew. I got energy balls and other things too and between 3 transactions spent around $80. It was quick and easy and painless and I LOVE supporting a local business with a great mission. (The one small thing that day was that I wanted to get fresh juice for the celery juice cleanse I've been doing. It turns out they no longer sell fresh juice so I bought 2-day old cold pressed juice. I've been keeping a log of how I feel each day w/ the celery and cold pressed juice definitely doesn't give me the same benefits as fresh juice. But that's OK, my juicer came in today.) My nephew loved his Saturday smoothie so much that he asked me to come back on Sunday morning. All morning we kept watching the clock till 9am so he could get another smoothie that he loved so much. When we came in, I asked for the very same 2-ingredient smoothie he got the day before. I was met with all kinds of issues (and remarkably, I think it was the owner who was giving me the problems but I could be wrong). On Saturday, I ordered his smoothie and there were no questions asked. On Sunday, she insisted that I needed to have some kind of a "base" (banana or dates), that I needed to have some kind of a juice, and she made sure to tell the cashier to up-charge me for not getting banana. She also told me one of the ingredients I painlessly got on Saturday was something that was "never" in stock. Luckily she came back later and told me she found some in the freezer. She didn't apologize, but I remain grateful that she told me. I heard her tell her co-worker "I'm old. I'm under stress." With that said though, she still made me add juice to the smoothie which is not what my nephew wanted. He's picky -- and even though he gave the smoothie a fair shot, he didn't like it. That was $10 wasted. I'd ordered another smoothie too. My Sunday one was nowhere as good as Saturday's and wasn't filled to the top. My son and I were looking for a light dinner and decided to try Greenstraw Smoothies on Sycamore Street, the main drag in Newtown, Bucks County. It is a new place on the nicely redeveloped commercial district. The menu consists of a long list of healthy drinks with fresh fruits and veggies, along with nutritional supplements to suit your particular need - Maca, Hemp protein, Flax Seed, Chia, Spirulina, Wheatgrass Juice, etc. The foundation of the smoothies are cow milk alternatives like Almond or Coconut Milk, Yogurt, and Fruit Juices. The combinations are surprisingly refreshing and tasty. I ordered a Leo's Favorite, consisting of Almond Milk, Apple Juice, Banana, Peanut Butter, Strawberries, Raspberries, and Greens. The resultant reddish blend was thick and smooth, but simply sucked through a straw (Yes. It was green). It was a pleasure to imbibe. My son had The Mango Tree, with Coconut Milk, Mango Juice, Banana, Mango Pieces, Pineapple, and Greens. The mix came out a ruddy greenish mash that was also quite good. We both smiled on first drought, and sampled each others drinks. I was definitely satisfied with my liquid dinner and was not hungry again last night. Young man needed a bit more sustenance after finishing his homework. This is definitely a worthy spot for a healthy drink. The prices are reasonable at $5.75 for the middle sized concoction, which was quite filling. There is also fair trade coffee available, but that will wait for another day. YES! Finally, I found a a juice/smoothie place close to me that I like. Smoothie King does not always cut it for me. Watch out for high calorie drinks posing as "healthy". I love that they have the option for wheatgrass, chia, flax, and other add-ins. The staff was very friendly and patient as I read over their entire menu and finally ordered a customized drink. Very good smoothie. I went with the tropical dream which was unquestionably satisfying. They had a huge menu with a lot of great sounded concoctions. Prices a bit steep but nothing too out of the norm for a local smoothie joint. 16 oz $6.75. Kiddie size $4.50. Worth it to me to get the extra ounces. Cool ambience in the store though a little cramped in here on a Sunday. Would definitely go back if I were wanting a boost of smoothie goodness. The prices may shock some but not me because food is medicine. One smoothie bowl fills you up because it's a literal meal! It has their homemade delicious granola on the top and bottom. Ever heard of Spirulina, Ashwaghanda root, or Moringa? They are some of the many Adaptogenic herbs they offer (I.e. Spirulina contains a powerful plant-based protein called phycocyanin. While waiting, I was offered a sample of the "Greensicle," which was really good. It was nice of her to pass that my way, even though I already ordered. I continue to look at other things they had, in which I kind of wanted all of it! I was handed my smoothie and went out on the deck to sit. I feel like I caught some weird looks from some of the customers around, which seemed to be more professional than myself. It's great to have a healthy choice in Newtown! I went in yesterday and got the "Greens for Life" bottled juice and a bowl of the minestrone soup. I appreciated the "Greens for Life" juice because it wasn't too sweet. They have other bottled juices that are sweeter though - I am looking forward to trying a new one next time. The soup was also delicious - PACKED with all kinds of veggies and beans. (I wished it had a little more salt though;). I would probably go in more often if there were more "meal replacement" smoothies with no juice; for example, something like: avocado, coconut or almond milk, spinach, kale, hemp seeds, protein powder, dates or local honey or banana.
