Went to Playa Bowls in Bensalem to order (2) #1 Nutella Oatmeal Bowls. Must say my Mother and I were very disappointed. Young staff, appeared to be disorganized. When i got to my destination...I opened the bowls and found half full and no Nutella. Very dry and everything cold. The bowls were not even appetizing to look at them. Disarray and very little strawberries. I called to explain to the girl and she told me to bring them back and they will fix them. I responded that I was not longer in the are. So, to waste gas and to be inconvenience to go back, when I already paid the price of the bowls, I told her I cannot. So, I realize she had no more to say, and we hung up. Came in on a weekday for a midday pick me up. The doors were propped open to allow a nice breeze inside. As soon as I went up to the register to order, the employee behind the counter was friendly. I ordered my regular custom bowl that I usually get, and my friend ordered a pre-set bowl from the menu. After waiting about 10 minutes, our bowls were ready. We went to eat in the seating area, which was fairly empty and cleaned well. My bowl was pretty good. It wasn't the best Playa I've ever had; other locations have been a little more generous with topping portions before. Regardless, it was fresh, well-made, and hit the spot. Overall, I was pretty satisfied with this location. It wasn't too crowded or busy. Service wasn't too bad. I'd likely go back again to get my Playa fix when I'm in the area. read more

Why just 4 stars when deserving of 5? (I was even thinking of 3 stars). I will get to that. First let me say, I love playa bowls and happy to have one nearby. I could easily eat them everyday. Pura Vida is my favorite so far. I have tried a few different ones but keep coming back to Pura Vida. Sometimes I add the extras to change it up...like chia seeds or goji berries. It is a fun, cute, clean place with ouside seating during nicer weather days. Ok...two reasons for deducting a star. One will probably make me sound horrible. So I will start with the other. The music was so very loud. I could not understand or hear the order taker. And, guess what...he asked me to repeat my phone number 5 times bc he couldn't hear me either. How rude is that that the music is so loud that you can't hear someone. It's a weekday lunch hour not an hour young kids are stopping in. I am sure the crowd that stops in would not like that loud music. I mentioned to the guy the music was too loud and he agreed and shrugged it off. OK now for the unpopular opinion of mine. Why does it ask me for a tip when I place an order? If I don't leave a tip will they give me less strawberries? Will they mark my frequent shopper account as a stingy customer? These people are doing their job. That is what they signed up for. They are not serving me or cleaning up after me. What exactly am I tipping? You order at the counter, they make the bowl and you carry it out or to a table. This is their JOB. The Playa Bowls are already pricey without a tip. Visited my first Playa Bowls the other day. This new tropical tan Jersey Shore original shop recently opened in the Village @ Newtown Shopping Center, and the "Grand Opening" banner was still strung up over the front door. No question that if you like fresh fruit, smoothies, yogurt and granola, you have come to your little spot of heaven. The large wall board menu is a bit daunting to read, but once I adjusted to the sound bombardment from the loudspeakers kicking out rock music several decibels above my comfort level, I settled on a Gogi Bowl consisting of sliced pineapple, banana, gogi berry, granola on a chill base of bright purple dragonfruit sorbet. I took a stool at a high plank table to await my name being called. The place was packed at 3:00 p.m., and it took about 10 minutes to hear my name shouted out above the crashing din. I retrieved the midsized plastic bowl and spoon and returned to my seat. It looked great. The taste was of very fresh fruit, crunchy granola and cold, almost crystalized dragonfruit creamie. It was refreshing and fun. All the while I took in the scene around me. Everyone was high school age. 90% female, and there was no doubt that I was the only one over 30. It was good that so many people my teenage son's age were hanging out healthy. I just wish I didn't have to overcome the sound barrier, and I hope they recycle. read more

What a great store! The atmosphere has an inviting feel, the food is always fresh, and the staff is friendly. Couldn't love this place more.

We've ordered the "pure vida" acai bowl (acai, blueberries, strawberries, granola, and honey) at a shore location and this one. Both were good, but the bowl at this location was several notches above the shore location. The fruit was fresher and less syrupy and there was more of it - and a little more honey, which the acai needs, since it is not a high-flavor ingredient at frozen temperatures. Wish I had photos of both to show the comparison. Beautiful plating really makes a difference with these tropical bowls! The crew on the day we visited really scored a hit! It was a nice day out when we visited and the entire front of the shop was open to the elements - with fans circulating the air. This location is bright, clean, and comfortable and the frozen treat artists behind the counter were very pleasant and welcoming. We hope that as the fear of covid recedes, a recycling option will appear. We took our containers home and reused them before recycling them. read more

So generally we enjoy Playa Bowls and never had an issue. However, we went tonight for National Acai Day when acai bowls were $5 off. Of course this was to drive customers to the store, but they were not prepared for the extra customers. We got there a little before 6:30pm with about 12-15 people ahead of us. The line moved slowly. At 6:55 pm, there were 5 people ahead of us and they announced they were going to stop taking orders for 10-15 minutes. I had waited a while already so I figured I'd wait a little more. At 7:15 pm (without taking another single order since 6:55pm), they announced they would not be taking any additional for 30 minutes, and they close at 8pm so they could not guarantee that you would be able to place your order for closing time. There was no consideration given AT ALL to those who had been waiting 45 minutes already! At this point I left, after waiting for 45 minutes and unable to place an order. This also means from 6:30 - 7:45 pm they only took 10 in-person orders! I should also note, I was going to place an online order, they the app was obviously experiencing extra traffic and I was unable to place the order online. There did not seem to be an overwhelming amount of online orders There were 4 younger people working there tonight. The young man did a good job of keeping the Acai flowing, but they still could not keep up. The owner really should have been more prepared to handle in the increased customer base - and should have been there to help! As well as the manager. Being able to serve 15 people in an hour and a half is really not that unreasonable. read more

I came here this morning after a gym session. Immediately, I thought that decor and "vibe" of the place was really nice. Very pretty furniture and decorations throughout the place, with lots of seating. The place was very clean, too, including the bathroom. I got the fall special acai bowl "Apple Turn Up," which I think is an acai base with apple butter, bananas, apples, and granola on top. I thought that it tasted really good and fresh. The quality of the fruit was good. Even the presentation was excellent. I would definitely return. I think for me, coming here will be a special occasion because my bowl was almost $13. A little pricey, but it seems that the ingredients may call for that sort of pricing. They do have tons of different things to try, though. The strawberries and blueberries were ripe and fresh. It is expensive but every açaí place is. The vibe of the place is super cute. "Pineappleland" I love the surfer vibe and the story of the owners. Unfortunately for my wallet, I will definitely be back. The only thing I recommend is, when customers want a bowl for Here to get some actual bowls. I love the story behind this place, the compostable straws and the atmosphere for sure. When it comes to the customer service I received today I don't plan on coming back or recommending this place. There are bowls and smoothies. We ordered smoothies, or so we thought. Apparently there are bowls and smoothies with the exact same name. When we received bowls we mentioned our confusion at what we received. The lady showed us that there are two things with the same name yet when ordering didn't make an effort to specify what we wanted. We ended up with something we didn't want and the lady made no attempt to correct this mistake. It was a disappointing experience. Another thing to add is that is you're looking for healthy, this is not the place. I believe I am eating a bowl with skippy peanut butter or some type of sugary peanut butter.
