Terrible service... I went to the one in Newtown on a Thursday and they closed earlier without notice for a meeting ... saw a bunch of people there laughing ... no sign of meeting and refused to serve the customers... Same with the one in Fairless Hills which closed an hour earlier for the meeting leaving customers unattended... be aware if you want to get something, you may take a trip there for nothing read more

Husband and I went to Playa Bowl in Newtown and it was our first visit. The food was great, but even better service! Laila waited on us. She was extremely helpful throughout our ordering process, explaining the different bases and giving great suggestions. We had no idea what to expect. The bowls were perfectly made, the fruit was fresh, and really delish. Both of us enjoyed them. We will definitely be back!" read more

I don't usually get playa bowls, but decided that it would be nice on a summer day. Was scared that I might not like what I got since I don't come often but a lovely working name Lailan helped me and it was great. read more

They were very rude when taking my order. They also put No nutella on my bowl. my smoothie had peanut butter in it, but tasted nothing like peanut butter. overall very disappointed. read more

Went to Playa Bowls in Bensalem to order (2) #1 Nutella Oatmeal Bowls. Must say my Mother and I were very disappointed. Young staff, appeared to be disorganized. When i got to my destination...I opened the bowls and found half full and no Nutella. Very dry and everything cold. The bowls were not even appetizing to look at them. Disarray and very little strawberries. I called to explain to the girl and she told me to bring them back and they will fix them. I responded that I was not longer in the are. So, to waste gas and to be inconvenience to go back, when I already paid the price of the bowls, I told her I cannot. So, I realize she had no more to say, and we hung up. Poor customer service etiquette! Plus the fact, I drive out of my way to come to Bensalem...closer location. Maybe they need to add one in Southampton or Feasterville?? read more

My daughter enjoyed her pitaya bowl. Everything was fresh and it will fill you up. But, $11.66 vs. a similar bowl for $8.91 at Jamba in center city philly is a bit much I. Update: I must say the quality and perfect temperature of ingredients at Playa rates an upgrade in my previous rating. In addition, this location is large and very airy with a nice amount of outside seat read more

Came in on a weekday for a midday pick me up. The doors were propped open to allow a nice breeze inside. As soon as I went up to the register to order, the employee behind the counter was friendly. I ordered my regular custom bowl that I usually get, and my friend ordered a pre-set bowl from the menu. After waiting about 10 minutes, our bowls were ready. We went to eat in the seating area, which was fairly empty and cleaned well. My bowl was pretty good. It wasn't the best Playa I've ever had; other locations have been a little more generous with topping portions before. Regardless, it was fresh, well-made, and hit the spot. Overall, I was pretty satisfied with this location. It wasn't too crowded or busy. Service wasn't too bad. I'd likely go back again to get my Playa fix when I'm in the area. read more

We love Playabowls Newtown! Our bowls are always perfectly made each time (online & in person). We love the staff at Newtown Playabowls, they work hard and have to put up with some demanding, unreasonable people at times. I hope they get the tips they deserve. LOVE the decor, such a nice looking place. We have been loyal customers and have always had a positive experience! read more

Slowest service I've ever had. Actually comical. Staff seem like they've never done this before. Orders after us go first, orders before us go last. I will skip this location and not visit again. Not one customer waiting looked happy. Food is fine but waiting more than 30 minutes after ordering is insanity. Never again. read more

Why just 4 stars when deserving of 5? (I was even thinking of 3 stars). I will get to that. First let me say, I love playa bowls and happy to have one nearby. I could easily eat them everyday. Pura Vida is my favorite so far. I have tried a few different ones but keep coming back to Pura Vida. Sometimes I add the extras to change it up...like chia seeds or goji berries. It is a fun, cute, clean place with ouside seating during nicer weather days. Ok...two reasons for deducting a star. One will probably make me sound horrible. So I will start with the other. The music was so very loud. I could not understand or hear the order taker. And, guess what...he asked me to repeat my phone number 5 times bc he couldn't hear me either. How rude is that that the music is so loud that you can't hear someone. It's a weekday lunch hour not an hour young kids are stopping in. I am sure the crowd that stops in would not like that loud music. I mentioned to the guy the music was too loud and he agreed and shrugged it off. OK now for the unpopular opinion of mine. Why does it ask me for a tip when I place an order? If I don't leave a tip will they give me less strawberries? Will they mark my frequent shopper account as a stingy customer? These people are doing their job. That is what they signed up for. They are not serving me or cleaning up after me. What exactly am I tipping? You order at the counter, they make the bowl and you carry it out or to a table. This is their JOB. The Playa Bowls are already pricey without a tip. I am considered a generous person which is the reason I struggle with this concept. Overall, I love my playa bowls and recommend. read more

Visited my first Playa Bowls the other day. This new tropical tan Jersey Shore original shop recently opened in the Village @ Newtown Shopping Center, and the "Grand Opening" banner was still strung up over the front door. No question that if you like fresh fruit, smoothies, yogurt and granola, you have come to your little spot of heaven. The large wall board menu is a bit daunting to read, but once I adjusted to the sound bombardment from the loudspeakers kicking out rock music several decibels above my comfort level, I settled on a Gogi Bowl consisting of sliced pineapple, banana, gogi berry, granola on a chill base of bright purple dragonfruit sorbet. I took a stool at a high plank table to await my name being called. The place was packed at 3:00 p.m., and it took about 10 minutes to hear my name shouted out above the crashing din. I retrieved the midsized plastic bowl and spoon and returned to my seat. It looked great. The taste was of very fresh fruit, crunchy granola and cold, almost crystalized dragonfruit creamie. It was refreshing and fun. All the while I took in the scene around me. Everyone was high school age. 90% female, and there was no doubt that I was the only one over 30. It was good that so many people my teenage son's age were hanging out healthy. I just wish I didn't have to overcome the sound barrier, and I hope they recycle. read more

What a great store! The atmosphere has an inviting feel, the food is always fresh, and the staff is friendly. Couldn't love this place more.

We've ordered the "pure vida" acai bowl (acai, blueberries, strawberries, granola, and honey) at a shore location and this one. Both were good, but the bowl at this location was several notches above the shore location. The fruit was fresher and less syrupy and there was more of it - and a little more honey, which the acai needs, since it is not a high-flavor ingredient at frozen temperatures. Wish I had photos of both to show the comparison. Beautiful plating really makes a difference with these tropical bowls! The crew on the day we visited really scored a hit! It was a nice day out when we visited and the entire front of the shop was open to the elements - with fans circulating the air. This location is bright, clean, and comfortable and the frozen treat artists behind the counter were very pleasant and welcoming. We hope that as the fear of covid recedes, a recycling option will appear. We took our containers home and reused them before recycling them. read more

My favorite spot for all the tropical vibes. If you're a fruit lover like me... you have to try Playa Bowls. I always get the stupid Cupid with extra Nutella on top. They have a variety of options and it's so customizable. The fruit is always super fresh. The indoor decor makes you feel like you're on vacation and the staff is super friendly at this location! read more

Playa Bowls - Stupid Cupid Bowl with extra Nutella - Juice Bars & Smoothies Near Me - Newtown, Pennsylvania

So generally we enjoy Playa Bowls and never had an issue. However, we went tonight for National Acai Day when acai bowls were $5 off. Of course this was to drive customers to the store, but they were not prepared for the extra customers. We got there a little before 6:30pm with about 12-15 people ahead of us. The line moved slowly. At 6:55 pm, there were 5 people ahead of us and they announced they were going to stop taking orders for 10-15 minutes. I had waited a while already so I figured I'd wait a little more. At 7:15 pm (without taking another single order since 6:55pm), they announced they would not be taking any additional for 30 minutes, and they close at 8pm so they could not guarantee that you would be able to place your order for closing time. There was no consideration given AT ALL to those who had been waiting 45 minutes already! At this point I left, after waiting for 45 minutes and unable to place an order. This also means from 6:30 - 7:45 pm they only took 10 in-person orders! I should also note, I was going to place an online order, they the app was obviously experiencing extra traffic and I was unable to place the order online. There did not seem to be an overwhelming amount of online orders There were 4 younger people working there tonight. The young man did a good job of keeping the Acai flowing, but they still could not keep up. The owner really should have been more prepared to handle in the increased customer base - and should have been there to help! As well as the manager. Being able to serve 15 people in an hour and a half is really not that unreasonable. read more

Good food but customer service needs work. Sat in line for 20 minutes before a worker even looked at us

I came here this morning after a gym session. Immediately, I thought that decor and "vibe" of the place was really nice. Very pretty furniture and decorations throughout the place, with lots of seating. The place was very clean, too, including the bathroom. I got the fall special acai bowl "Apple Turn Up," which I think is an acai base with apple butter, bananas, apples, and granola on top. I thought that it tasted really good and fresh. The quality of the fruit was good. Even the presentation was excellent. I would definitely return. I think for me, coming here will be a special occasion because my bowl was almost $13. A little pricey, but it seems that the ingredients may call for that sort of pricing. They do have tons of different things to try, though. They have smoothies, oatmeal, bowls with different fruit bases, and more. read more

Playa Bowls - Half açaí half coconut tropical bowl - Juice Bars & Smoothies Near Me - Newtown, Pennsylvania

The place is super nice! Bowls are yummy. Definitely need to try a few more to reviews.

I finally was able to a stop in here. I am obsEssed with Açaí! I have been too plenty of places good and bad. I had the Pura ViDa Açaí Bowl. The consistency of Açaí was eexcellent. The strawberries and blueberries were ripe and fresh. It is expensive but every açaí place is. The vibe of the place is super cute. "Pineappleland" I love the surfer vibe and the story of the owners. Unfortunately for my wallet, I will definitely be back. The only thing I recommend is, when customers want a bowl for Here to get some actual bowls. A plAce in Texas used to do this and it encourages people to come and hang here versus a "to-go" place. read more

Love this location! Frequent often with my daughter. Nice employees, clean, and of course yummy bowls!

Not what you would expect from Playa Bowls and very unpleasant service. I heard afterwards that they have gone downhill recently

Ordered online and was ready in less than 5 minutes! So fast in the morning and much appreciated

I love the story behind this place, the compostable straws and the atmosphere for sure. When it comes to the customer service I received today I don't plan on coming back or recommending this place. There are bowls and smoothies. We ordered smoothies, or so we thought. Apparently there are bowls and smoothies with the exact same name. When we received bowls we mentioned our confusion at what we received. The lady showed us that there are two things with the same name yet when ordering didn't make an effort to specify what we wanted. We ended up with something we didn't want and the lady made no attempt to correct this mistake. It was a disappointing experience. Another thing to add is that is you're looking for healthy, this is not the place. I believe I am eating a bowl with skippy peanut butter or some type of sugary peanut butter. When we mentioned we wanted smoothies the girl said "they are basically the same thing". read more

Lovely staff, great salads with flexible options. First timer and will definitely be going back.

I love playa bowls but this location is extremely inconsistent. Sometimes my smoothie is watery, sometimes it's too thick, sometimes it's sweeter than it should be. And I always get the same smoothie. Also you never know which staff member you're going to get sometimes there's a straight nasty don't look at you and don't even say hello. And once in a while you will get someone nice :/ read more

Love there acai bowls! Always so good and fresh. Perfect dessert for anyone. High recommend

I really like this place. I'm a big fan of the coconut base bowl. I wish they had a smoothie version of the coconut base. Only complaint is they are often out of figs and I'm never notified - the bowl just doesn't have them included which bums me out. Otherwise, consistently delicious. read more

Great place! Staff is always friendly, attentive and quick! I usually order online and my stuff is always ready on time.

Very predictably expensive!! It is RIDICULOUS to me to be able to justify this type of expense.

Terrible experience waited 30 minutes for one bowl still didn't even get it I had to walk out! they hand out the wrong things to people They have no idea what they're doing shortstaffed terrible management terrible experience read more

Satisfies my pregnancy cravings a bit pricey but the food was amazing! I love that it's healthy and my body and baby thank me and you.

Bowls are great, however, amidst the corona virus going around, the workers practice no social distancing. There were about 7 young girls at the station, and none of them were wearing masks. I was disappointed to see that a food business has such a lack of care for the protection of its own workers and customers!!! But, bowls are always great(: read more

If I could eat here everyday I honestly would! The staff is always nice and pleasant! I don't even mind the price of the bowls. I do love the fact that they offer a family bundle (3 bowls and 3 protein bites) for $30 some dollars. I wish I had a location a bit closer but I don't mind the 20 minute drive. I have brought multiple bowls at a time so I can enjoy them multiple days in a row read more
