Beautiful, Passionate, and Delightful, yes I am describing my fiancée who was my date for this Valentines Dinner, but I am also describing the food which we most certainly enjoyed every bite of. The appetizer was spectacular. Calamari was crispy and firm, and had a nice Aoli Sauce which complimented the light battering. So much better than the standard run of the mill marinara you get at every other restaurant. The Chilean Sea Bass was beautiful, tasty, and melted in her mouth. Vegetables perfectly cooked. We spent our 4th Valentines at UVA and as always had a fabulous experience! I go for date nights, girls nights and as always love it. The food is so good, presentation, portions and service is excellent! The owner, Sal,makes the best complimentary limoncello shots- try his chocolate limoncello!! I would work on the lighting in the space. It was a little loud for my liking but may have been the crowd this night. The Risotto with shrimp and crab is outstanding. This is my first restaurant review ever but I felt compelled. My husband and I just left Uva and were very pleased with our meal. The Antipasto Misto was delicious and a super generous portion for 4 not 2 that they recommended. My salmon dish was delicious and my husband's shrimp with linguine was al dente. They are the only restaurant that offers a complimentary limoncello after dinner. It is delicious! But I am mostly writing this review to compliment Sean the waiter who took over when our older waiter seemed to just disappear. Sean was attentive and so were all his young helpers! These young boys really work very hard to run this restaurant. I hope the owners really appreciate all these young talents. Thanks for a great experience read more

Never felt more ignored at a restaurant. 10 waiters and our service was terrible. Chocolate sauce on our caprese salad instead of balsamic vinegar,entrees plopped down in front of us as the waiter walked away never asking if we needed anything. No one ever came to see if we wanted coffee or dessert and no limoncello. Had to flag someone down to get our bill then had to take it to the hostess to pay. Besides all of that the restaurant was packed with tables close together and it was freezing. I understand businesses are struggling but there were "10 waiters". Won't go back. read more

It is a shame. Have been there twice. Food is fine, but service and attitude of the staff and owner is horrible. Will not go back. They are understaffed and make you wait and wait. I called there after the second visit since the owner was not there. The manager, Walter, who was there but never cared to come out to see how everything was, said he would have owner call me week of July 4th, even though owner away. Owner never called. I called again a few days ago and left message. No response. I left an email. No response. Today, I called a third time. Spoke to Paula. She seemed annoyed I would even call. We had the displeasure of dining at UVA Friday August 9th. Unfortunately we had mediocre food and sub par service. We were a party of six. The calamari was overloaded with cayenne pepper which made it inedible. One of our friends had a sirloin steak with 40% fat. Another ordered the barramundi special and wasn't told it was blackened so she had to send it back because that too was too seasoned. Our waiter was less than attentive and would disappear for long periods of time. Finally, the cappuccinos tasted like colored water. They were taken off the bill when the waiter saw we didn't drink them. The restaurant wasn't busy and still it doesn't seem as if they care anymore. We had our son and daughter in laws engagement party there and our office staff holiday party at UVA for years. We will never go back. We have come here a number of times the food and service has always been good. Last night was horrible, I suggested the restaurant for my cousins birthday party. We were packed in like sardines and it was so noisy you couldn't hear the person next to you talk. We waited for silverware, bread, water , etc. Dinner took over two hours to get and they only brought out meals for half our party the balance of the food came out over a half an hour later. Our waiter was a smart ass and said to us I don't care what kind of service I give you because I'm quitting tonight. The manager was apologetic and took off $40.00 off a $250.00 bill. BIG DEAL ! I gave it 2 stars because the food was OK. The attitude of the house staff was horrible. Table of 10. 2 people ordered the special sea bass. 1 came out looking beautiful. The second looked like it was thrown on the plate at the last second. when asked why we were told "you got fish,spinach and risotto what more do you want". The special rib eye steak was at least 40% fat. There are so many great restaurants in this area for anyone to go here and be treated to OK food at crazy prices and get treated poorly. The food here is mostly excellent. However the veal is not up to a high standard. For the price, it should almost melt in your mouth but instead it is a little tough probably because it was overcooked. The service is another story. The owner's demeanor is off-putting. It seems he cannot be pleasant to anyone who doesn't dine there weekly. Plus, we were there on a Sunday night and were not told about the Presto Menu. The wait staff is incompetent. We twice had to ask for a serving spoon for one of our entrees. Three of us shared 2 entrees and we had to ask for dinner plates. A server put tap water into a glass that contained San Pellegrino. Our salad plates were not cleared until we asked. It was not a busy evening and we have been there several times and this was by far our worst experience. read more

This was our first visit and it won't be our last. The menu is excellent. Lots of great choices. I had the homemade spinach gnocchi with chopped lamb in red sauce (gravy, as we called it in Jersey). My wife had the risotto with crab and shrimp. Both dishes were delicious, although my wife's was the best. We started with the mozzarella app, which was also delicious. There were five mozzarella medallions, so it was a good size portion - as was dinner. We finished with a nice cup of cappuccino. The service was terrific. The whole staff - not just our waiter - was very attentive without being intrusive. The owner stopped by at the end of the meal and offered his homemade limoncello - a nice touch. I would probably give 3.5 stars if available. Food and ambiance very good. Service awful. We came on Saturday with a large party of 18. My father preordered a bunch of appetizers. It took 40 minutes for them to come out. What was the point of preordering in advance. Food was superb. Everything was tasty and cooked to perfection. Again, service was pretty bad all night. From getting extra bottles of water to other requests, we had to wait for a long time. In the beginning the place was empty too so not sure why there were no servers to assist. read more

Easily my go-to Italian place for now own. I am a richboro native that had yet to try this place, and took a chance and had a birthday dinner there. It is BYOB, so buy your wine ahead of time. It was spectacular. The food was divine, the waitstaff was formal and knowledgeable and highly attentive even tho it was a Saturday night and the place was packed. I have since been back twice and plan on doing so again. During the week, try their Presto menu. Generous portions at an amenable price. Enjoy! read more

We had a family event. I know that it changed ownership but same chefs are still there. Been going for years and lived this place and excellent food. I was first disappointed that there was a TV in the place showing sports. My first thought was that this is no longer a fine dining establishment. Our table was supposed to be placed in the private corner, inside at the door. The kids got there good first, ate and we were still waiting to be served which took a while. The food was as expected, good as always but no music, live or not and no complementary limoncello . They need a hostess like Paula used to be. I hope my next visit is better but I wish they would lose the TV and put some music in the air. My family had never been there so hopefully they liked it. read more

My fiancee and I were looking for a new BYOB to try out on Valentine's Day, and figured we would try out Uva due to the high praise it received on Yelp and OpenTable. Normally I don't feel too inclined to write reviews, but since my experience was far from five stars I figured I'd share. We should have turned around and went home right from the start when we walked into the restaurant and had to wait at least three minutes for the two hostesses to stop bickering about table placement before being seated. I assume (or hope) they were a mother and daughter by the way they were fighting and whining, but either way it was an unpleasant start to our evening. It looked like everyone at the restaurant had brought wine or champagne along with them for the evening, but no ice buckets were available for people who wanted their wine/champagne chilled. Our champagne was warm by the time our meal came. The waiter was very friendly but mostly absent for the evening. We had an issue with one of the appetizers we ordered (our error, not the waiter's), but could not resolve the issue to order something else because he did not return to our table until we had completed our entrees over 20 minutes later, despite another member of the wait staff telling him that we were looking for him. The restaurant seemed understaffed and possibly unprepared for the Valentine's Day crowd. He removed the appetizer from our bill without hesitation when we finally got a chance to talk to him about it, which was a saving grace for the whole ordeal. Ultimately, my fiancee and I would have been perfectly content with the restaurant's other issues if the food was good, but it wasn't really all that special. We ordered their pasta special as an appetizer (ground veal and mozzarella rolled in thin pasta in a blush sauce) that was unimpressive. I ordered lobster ravioli which had the same blush sauce, bland ravioli, and two overcooked shrimp. My fiancee ordered crab and shrimp risotto, which was decent but only in comparison to everything else we ordered. Knowing that we wouldn't be able to go elsewhere for a nice dessert on Valentine's Day due to crowds and reservations, we decided to stick around against our better judgment. I ordered the cannoli which was actually great (even though a single cannoli set me back $7.50), and my fiancee ordered a mixed berry cobbler which was nothing beyond what we could have purchased frozen from Trader Joes and microwaved at home. Next time, we'll stick with Bocelli for our Italian BYOB dining needs out in the Philly suburbs. read more

This would be 3.5 stars if I had the option. Uva did a fantastic job hosting a party of 80 people, of which I was a guest, last weekend. The appetizers were above par, specifically the calamari, which had fried banana peppers amidst the calamari. It was something I had never had and loved it. The antipasto was also delicious. A pasta course consisting of a penne a la vodka and a Gorgonzola gnocchi was also top notch. The main course was really where I'd dock the points. The seabass and salmon were really pretty so-so and flavorless. But, as mentioned, it was a party of 80 and I'm sure had we been in a smaller party, this course would've been better. The final issue I had was with the service. Again, we were in a large party, but we were among only 2-3 couples with a small child. The staff did not accommodate to our son at all. We had to manually refill his water cup from our glasses and hunt down the waiter to see if there was a kids menu. Usually it's unspoken that when ordered, kid meals should come right out. They waited until everyone was served (maybe 45 mins later?) which left us with a tired, hungry and grumpy toddler. It was annoying and I wish they'd taken better care of us. All said, I would try UVA again and look forward to sampling other items of their menu! read more

Was very disappointed by this restaurant. We came as a group of women and the restaurant was crowded for a Tuesday night. We were each given menus but we had to ask for the four course menu available Sunday thru Thursday. The waiter was initially attentive with taking our orders but another server brought us bread and water. We received our first two courses within the hour - salad which was quite tasty and a delicious pasta dish. Then our server just disappeared, completely forgetting about us. We finally received our dinners an hour and forty five minutes after arriving, and no surprise, mine was cold. It took a few minutes to find our server again and then everyone was almost done with their entree before I finally received my entree (after again trying to locate our waiter). The veal marsala was very mediocre as was the mashed potatoes glomped with the vegetables. Needless to say, we had to beg for our desserts which were almost slammed on the table before clearing the plates. We also never got water refills without asking and the miserly cups of coffee were not refilled. I don't plan to come back to this restaurant. read more

Stopped in for lunch to check out this new Italian restaurant in Richboro to check it out for a dinner meeting next week. The place is very nice, almost too fancy. We almost didn't go in because we couldn't tell if they were open for lunch. I decided to check it out. The were open and we thought it was almost too upscale for us. I decided we would check it out anyway. Don't let this intimidate you. This is a BYOB establishment. The staff was great. The lunch menu items were priced in the $8-15 range. The dinner menu was $15-30 range. Not bad. Lunch for two came to $25. It was well worth the stop. The food was very fresh and very well prepared. Service was prompt and attentive. Both dishes and the soup were delicious and well prepared. Our group will be back for dinner next week with high expectations. This place is definitely work checking out. read more

This cozy BYOB in Richboro does not disappoint. We had a bottle of the Phillies wine, (which was a full bodied red wine. Fruity on the nose, but dry - not too dry, extremely drinkable, delicious and perfect compliment to an Italian dinner). We both ordered pasta fagoli soup as a starter. It was full of beans, veggies and pasta very fresh. I ordered the clams w/linguine in a red sauce. My man ordered chicken parm w/whole wheat penne. The linguini and clams were delicious but I wish I had more sauce. I usually enjoy the extra sauce filled with the broth from the clams and garlic when I order this dish, however there was no extra sauce left in the bowl when I finished. Not to say that the pasta was dry, but I was hoping on that little extra to sop up with some bread. The chicken parm was tender, nicely breaded and baked perfectly with sauce and mozzarella. Chicken parm is my mans favorite, so it passed his taste test and he cleaned the plate. We frequent the best Italian in Philly, so he has high standards for chicken parm. Well done We ordered dessert only because they all looked so good!! A tray of homemade desserts were brought out, each better than the next. We ordered the tiramisu and it was delicious. Not as much coffee liquor flavor as I usually like in a tiramisu, but still very good. We shared the very generous piece and thank goodness we did because we were stuffed before it was delivered to the table. Beautifully plated, with extra vanilla and chocolate sauce decorating the plate. Whipped cream and slice of fresh strawberry to top it off. ***Tip - visit this restaurant on a weekend evening for dinner and I hope Sal, the owner is present. Order dessert and you will not be disappointed. Overall, it was a wonderful evening and fantastic dinner! read more

Tried to order the Christmas gift card by going in there at 10:45 am on 11/24/17, i was standing inside by the hostess stand. After waiting there for 5 minutes without anyone helping me ,i left .. Called at noon to see if it would be ok to come over. Spoke to a lady that was extremely rude and said that I must have went to the wrong place since she's been there since 9am. I have eaten here several years ago and id say the food is okay at best. My friends who eat here told me the food has gotten a lot better and to give it another try. But, after the hostess called me a liar and hung up the phone on me I will not go back. Terrible customer experience. read more

The noise level was deafening, the service was inconsistent, and the food, while pretty good, didn't make up for the other drawbacks. I will say it was nice to have live music (Frank Sinatra tribute artist who was a decent singer) and the modern decor is pretty. Could be that weeknights are totally different, service and noise-wise, and we might try it, but probably not. Came for my birthday... let me start off by saying that I am NOT picky, and am rather easy to please, especially when it comes to food. It's pretty inside.. nice ambiance. But that's mainly it. We were there on a weeknight. Pretty empty. So I was surprised to find the service was so lacking. Waiter took a while to come to table. Messed up our order. For a rather fancy place, and one where there was maybe two other tables with customers in the entire restaurant, I'd expect him to at least remember our order......... food was ok. Ordered the antipasto. Surprised it came with chunks of Parmesan. I mean large hard chunks.. maybe they were out of nicer cheese? We also asked twice to NOT bring any olives as I hate the smell and taste.. plate was covered with olives. The entrees were ok. Chicken saltimbocca was good, but plated rather sloppy, with a small piece of prosciutto slapped on top. Now the dessert...... when we asked for dessert menu, a different waitress who smelled very offensively of cigarette odor came to table and brought a plate with different desserts. We picked out two things. She then came back with a crushed molten lava cake (it wasn't crushed on the other plate) and a very dry piece of cake (that my husband picked out). No way were these "homemade desserts".. or if they were, they were very far from fresh. Unfortunately had high hopes, but radically disappointed. read more

Radio Shack is gone but the food here is as good as ever. It's noisier now, with more large parties, but not unbearably so. Would avoid the 24.95 weekday special menu. The food on that menu is ok but not special; almost everything on the regular menu is very special.
